About this cottage rental
This stunning detached 3 bedroom house is situated in an elevated position in the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor and has spectacular sea views. (Click on the photos below to view more of the property)
Entered at road level, the accommodation has an open plan lounge, kitchen and diner with patio doors leading out to a wide balcony. Downstairs there are three bedrooms, two with sea views and patio doors to a terrace and garden. A family bathroom, shower room and utility room are also on this floor. The garden is tiered over several levels and has garden furniture available so you can relax and enjoy the views. There is on-road parking at the front of the property, and limited off-road parking is available in the driveway for a very small car.
Suncliff is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac within walking distance to the centre of Ventnor town. In addition to the main shopping streets where you will find a selection of small supermarkets and independent shops, there is the esplanade with pubs and cafes and the wonderful beach. There are parks and gardens, museums and the Winter Gardens - an entertainment venue with a growing reputation for theatre, concerts, comedy and dance shows and of course, with a restaurant and bar. The renowned Ventnor Haven Fishery at the Marina sells the daily catch of fresh fish and seafood; boat trips are also available from here.
There are a number of good restaurants in Ventnor including The Spyglass, right on the beach, several in the town including a vegan restaurant, and the amazing Marsala Bay Indian restaurant, which also does take-away. If you fancy a take-away on the beach, the Ventnor Haven Fishery sells fantastic fish and chips, locally caught and prepared to order.
Ventnor Botanic Garden lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous ‘Undercliff'. This unique garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk cliffs. In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is the restaurant and tea rooms on-site for refreshments, lunch or coffee and cake!
From the Esplanade you can take a level walk along the sea wall to Bonchurch (with a stop at The Seapot - a lovely beachfront cafe on the way), or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful sheltered bay only accessible by foot where there is a cafe and very good fish restaurant.

This is the second year we have been to the house. It is superb in all respects, there is everything in the house you could possibly need on holiday, great location, beautiful and well kept gardens, and stunning views. It was spotless on arrival and the owners provided complimentary beer and prosecco in the fridge, which was a nice touch. Mention must also be made of the owners going above and beyond when I requested a cot. This was set up for us, along with baby changing facilities and a baby bath and as we had a 4 month old with us that was very much appreciated. We can very highly recommend Suncliff.

What a view! Amazing aspect across the Channel from beautiful gardens. We spent 99% of our week at the rear of the house.
The house itself is comfortable and well-appointed. It isn’t as ultramodern or luxurious as some other holiday homes - instead it feels like a family home with unbeatable views.

Lovely well stocked and presented. Higher up than we thought made it difficult to walk into town for over 70’s

Who could ask for a more beautiful location and spacious holiday home to relax and unwind in.
Photos exactly as seen and more. The views from the balcony, patios and gardens are fantastic.
Quiet and peaceful.

Very comfortable property ,excellent position with stunning views to sea ,well kept garden with plenty of parking to the front of the house , lots of nice touches internally with well equipped kitchen if you are forced to cook !!! Plenty o games for the kids to amuse themselves with , the only thing that was disappointing was the bedding was damp had to strip beds and tumble dry it all generally downstairs felt colder and damper bedding definitely was not aired dont know if the property had been empty for a while but would have benefitted from some background heat down there not great welcome ! Enjoyed the Isle of Wight as always great place for holidays the issue with bedding didnt spoil an otherwise great holioday

We very much enjoyed our holiday here. A nice, comfortable place to stay with a nice view of the sea and only a 10 minute walk to the beach. It's also easy to drive to the rest of the Isle of Wight from here. We would definitely like to stay here again.

Suncliff is a great base for a stay in Ventnor. The house has everything you could need and the view from the balcony is wonderful. We have stayed here 4 times which is testament to what we think about Suncliff!

Absolutely superb property & location. Views to die for!! The property had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday, communication from hosts was 'on point' throughout. The setting of the property is stunning providing phenomenal views. Equally the garden provides a fantastic space to take in the surroundings, set within a quiet neighbourhood. I could not recommend this property highly enough!

A fantastic house in a great location, although beware of steep hills and lots of steps. The views from the house are just amazing from both the balcony and the downstairs bedrooms. Set in a lovely 3 tiered garden with plenty of sun traps.
The house had everything you could possibly need and more. I was so glad of the book collection as I forgot mine so was able to borrow one for our holiday. We enjoyed playing the board games too!

A great property for a family holiday. Really well equipped, well maintained and great communication from Island holiday Homes prior to the holiday.
The kids loved seeing the tiny garden lizards! All in all a fantastic holiday property.

This is our third time staying at Suncliff. The house is a great base for a relaxing holiday on the IOW.

Fantastic!
We couldn’t get into our usual holiday cottage (booked up) so we went to this one instead. It exceeded all our expectations and we have already booked for next year

A beautiful spacious holiday home,
We arrived on the I.O.W feeling rather sad as we were suppose to be having a holiday with our son Trevor, wife Chloe
and 6 year old grandson Tyler, I.O.W chosen by my son remembering the holidays we had on the Island 40 years ago,
but on the morning of our departure 6am results of a covid test taken 3 days previous came thro saying Tryer was positive
consequently they would not be joining us, so we a arrived on our own. But on stepping into the kitchen of Suncliff our
spirits lifted as we looked out to sea thro the double patio doors, the three tiered garden and the obvious cleanliness
of the property. Holiday makers want for nothing here as everybody is catered for from young to old, Everything you
need for cooking, drinking and eating. in fact one evening I said to my husband "its a pity we didn't bring our cribbage board and cards" Len said "I bet there's one here somewhere" and lo and behold cards and board waiting to be used
We had a beautiful week, we are in our 80's so it would have been less leg ache if there wasn't so many hills to go up a
down looking on the bright side it was good exercise, slept well.

View, location, view!
Outstanding property. Immaculate. Well equipped. Lovely towels and bed linen. Fabulous views. Easy walk into Ventnor - slightly challenging uphill walk back!

A very special place
The outstanding sea view is the USP of this lovely house. Unassuming from the front this "upside down" stylish home offers high levels of comfort, well equipped cook's kitchen, a beautifully maintained garden with plentiful herbs and many flowering bushes which frame that view - nearly 180 degrees overlooking Ventnor's western slope down towards the sea. Mesmerising.
This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint - despite the constraints of Covid we found shops and eating places well prepared and friendly. A wonderful place for a relaxing holiday.

Practically perfect in every way...
We would highly recommend Suncliff. Upon arrival we were surprised at how small the property appeared from the outside, so were delighted when we discovered it was far from it when heading indoors.
Suncliff is a beautiful and spacious property with stunning sea views overlooking Ventnor. The main living area has a large balcony with a seating area and two of the three bedrooms, which all have very comfortable beds, have patio doors leading out into the garden. The family that own the property have really taken their time to make sure that everything that you could possibly need is provided, including a gas barbeque, a Bose sound system, Sky Q and lots of little extras to make sure that your holiday goes smoothly.
The property is tastefully decorated and has two beautiful bathrooms, as well as an additional upstairs toilet. The main living area, dining room and kitchen areas are all open plan, giving a overall sense of space. The kitchen is very well equipped and if you think that something is missing have a good look around, its amazing what you find in the drawers. Towards the rear of the property there is also a utility room with a washing machine, a condenser dryer and an external washing line and pegs. The tiered gardens are beautiful too, they have additional seating areas including a picnic table and a small lawned area. It is the perfect place for a family holiday.
Ventnor is the perfect base for exploring the Island and the town itself has much to offer. We also visited Shanklin, Quarr Abbey, Arreton Barns, Freshwater Bay and the Garlic Farm and all were within a 30 minute drive.
We honestly could not fault Suncliff in any way.

Suncliff is a beautifully clean, well appointed home with spectacular views over the sea. Well located in the south of the island it proved a great base to explore from; and an even better place to relax back to after a day out. STeephill cove, nearby is beautiful, as is Compton bay, Godshill village, Shanklin Chine...the list goes on.The property itself could not be faulted, in one week we were able to see a red squirrel, dolphins in the sea, a shooting star and numerous ships / yachts passing by.Honestly - no improvement required. Perfect as it is.

Summer 1 Week 4
Suncliff was a super property; clean, airy and beautiful views. It had all we needed in terms of cooking bits/ tv and toddler bits; we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you

This is a delightful, spacious holiday let with a spectacular view and a garden on three levels.
We spent a week at Suncliff, Ventnor as a young family. We enjoyed the property very much on the whole - it is spacious and equiped to a high standard and the setting is very peaceful. The only negative point is the lack of ventilation in the main bedroom (patio doors and no small windows or facility to lock leaving a small gap) and slight damp on the ground floor. Without those issues we would have marked more boxes with 'excellent'.
It may not suit someone looking to rent with limited mobility as it is located quite high up above the town and the accommodation is on two floors.

Stylish comfort with perfect sea views
We were so impressed with Suncliff - one of the most comfortable and spacious holiday properties we've stayed in. Beds and seating were extremely comfortable, with outstanding sea views. The kitchen is well equipped with high grade appliances - a pleasure to cook there. Spacious bathrooms with good strong showers. Also lots of books, games and toys for children. Outside a lovely garden full of interesting plants and a good supply of herbs! Further afield we found some good eating places and quirky shops in Ventnor, and lots to do within an easy drive.
We went for a week's R&R and came away feeling well rested - we will return!

A great holiday despite the weather
An excellent property with wonderful sea views and a lovely garden on various different levels. All mod cons provided.
The very steep hilly location at the top of the cliff is a bit challenging if you don’t drive, however we should have thought more about that as we know the Island well and have visited many times previously. Island Holiday Homes service was excellent as usual!
