Wonderful property for adults and young ones! Small pool, putting green, well furnished home, outdoor tiki bar, playset, incredible views, close proximity to several wineries, and yard games to keep everyone entertained. I will seek this house out again next time we visit!

The pictures don't do the view justice. The entire property is gorgeous...there's a view every where you look! There is not really a need to leave, you have so much to do on site from the pickleball courts to the putting green to the spool. We truly enjoyed our stay. The hosts met us at the house to show us everything which was extremely helpful and they were great to communicate with. I would not hesitate to stay here next time we're in town.

We traveled with 4 adults and 5 children. This house was perfect! Set far enough away so you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the country but close enough to be at the beach or city within a half an hour. The owners are very accommodating. They share all their toys for the kids. Video games, board games, pool, ping pong etc which were great for family bonding moments. The 4 bedrooms provided enough space at night to relax and the views from the deck are simply stunning! We will surely rent this home again when traveling to SoCal.

Our crew had a great time staying at this property. The Fitzmaurices were very accommodating & very pleasant to deal with. We would love to stay there again if the opportunity arrises.

Really enjoyed our stay, celebrating our nephews wedding at the "castle" nearby. The facilities at the house were first class, and we loved the wonderful views over the valley, groves & vineyards. John & Shannon's neighbour - Bill, was an absolute star & brought us freshly squeezed orange juice, and took us for walks arounds the groves each morning.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely, well kept and very private estate home. Three couples and three preschool (3, 4, & 6) aged boys for a week together for a mini-reunion over the 4th of July, and we never felt crowded or cooped up. There are so many things to do, both inside and outside, that we never wanted to leave the house. We were able to spread out in the four large BRs, with enough privacy for everyone. The master BR is huge, with a seating area, an adjacent outside area, huge bathroom, trundle and crib. It does face east however, so in the summer, the room is fairly bright in the early morning.
The kitchen and dining areas are fully equipped (including many pantry items and staples) with everything you need to prepare meals, from breakfast and snacks, to full dinners. There's also an outdoor kitchen area (next to the "spool") with a huge propane grill, running water, small frig, etc. The washer & dryer were great too with the little ones.
The owners have included fully stocked game cabinets and garage storage, for both indoor and outdoor games and sports equipment. If you're bored here, you're just not trying! Yet, you can sit out peacefully on the deck or on the porch for hours on end watching the scenery and just be still and be surrounded by the sounds of nature. The boys loved the playscape and putting green and the "spool", and the adults loved the deck area overlooking the valley for sunset and morning coffee, the pool table and outside activities, and the spool too. There's outdoor seating in several areas, depending upon if you want shade or sun, and which scenery you want to face. The views are absolutely stunning all the way around the house.
The owners did a great job of providing info on how to run all of the lights, a/c, tv/dvd, timers, "spool" features, gates and locks, etc.
It's on a private gated road about 15 minutes off of I-15, just south of Escondido and north of Carmel Mountain area for convenient shopping. There is a winery across Highland Valley Road that has pizza, cheese plates, salads, etc., but not much other food in the immediate area. We stayed in every night -- watching the sunset and cooking on the grill was the highlight of the day.
The owners were lovely to deal with from start to finish. Shannon was a wonderful help recommending "to do's" with the little ones and understanding our needs as multi-generational extended family. We'd love to come stay with them again.

The house is located on a hilltop with beautiful 360 degree views. It is very comfortable, superbly furnished and really well cared for with every possible home-game option one can think off ... including a very fun 9-hole mini-golf putting course. It is clean and the outdoor landscaping is excellent. We had a wonderful time there with our six children and hope to return in the future. The owners couldn't be more helpful and pleasant. A 5-star rating for sure!!

We stayed for one week and had a great experience. Were were five adults and twin six month old grand daughters. Our son and his family had just returned from being stationed in Okinawa for three years so you can imagine what a joy it was for us to be together in an unbelievable residence. Shannon was wonderful to work with. We had booked it, then canceled, then had to call back and book it again as my son was scheduled to be moved from Esconido to Chula Vista to Miramar. The Fitzmaurices were completely understanding and even turned down a one month rental because they had committed to us.
I won't detail all of the benefits, just read all of the other reviews and I will confirm that everything stated in them is correct. One change is that Buddy the dog is deceased which is unfortunate. Living there must have been dog heaven for him. John told me the oranges would be the best we have ever had and he was correct. Finally, I would have sat on the deck and enjoyed the view the entire week, but I had grand daughters to spoil.
If you have the opportunity to stay here take it.You will not be sorry.

Absolutely loved every minute of our stay at this house! The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. We came to San Diego to attend a 90th birthday party / family reunion and were able to stay at the house with siblings and cousins (9 people) and there was plenty of room. Unfortunately there are no words that can adequately describe that 360 degree view! I miss it already and would love to return and stay here again someday! We have a black lab at home, so seeing Buddy everyday made me miss my pup a little less. One of the best treats was the home-made Orange juice every morning. We picked oranges off the trees each morning and enjoyed the sweetest OJ! It was just a wonderful, relaxing vacation! Thank you to the owners!

We've just returned from a wonderful vacation in San Diego and stayed in Shannon and John's home. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while we were visiting family and attending a wedding. Everything we could have asked for and more was available to us in this home; the pictures definitely do not do it justice...especially the spectacular view! We hope to return again soon! Thanks Shannon and John! :)

This house was amazing. Incredible views and everything you can ask for. We had 7 people, 4 adults and 3 kids. My dad had his own room on one side of the house, with the rest of us occupying the other half. There was so much space both inside and out. We LOVED Buddy the dog. My son was so upset when we left because he was going to miss him. We used the house as a home base and we went to Legoland, La Jolla, the Wild Animal Park, and the Midway downtown. It was perfect for what we needed. The owners are amazing. Best experience I have ever had! Thanks so much for making our vacation so wonderful.

The pictures don't do it justice. The views are beautiful, the house has everything you could need. We had 6 adults and 3 kids, and we had plenty of space. The yard, BBQ area, play area are perfect, and we spent a lot of time outside. The owners are gracious and helpful, and our kids absolutely loved Buddy the dog. We used the house as a home base for visits to the Zoo, the Safari Park, Sea World, Legoland, etc. and it was ideal. We definitely recommend it!

The home was absolutely what we were looking for. The pictures don't do is justice! It's more than what we were hoping. All the bedrooms had bathrooms which was perfect. We loved the board games, pool table, and the trivia game! The kids enjoyed playing on the playground and sandbox. Going in the spool was our nightly ritual. Everything was clean and the kitchen was stocked with anything we needed. Shannon and John were very hospitable. We def recommend this property and hopefully we can make it back again!

It has been almost a year since our perfect stay at Shannon and John's incredibly beautiful and well-appointed home. I was planning a small and intimate wedding at the lovely Cordiano Winery (which is right across the street from their home), and I wanted to set up a "home base" for family flying and to coordinate a very small, and extremely informal rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding. Because I am local, I had the luxury of visiting with Shannon and John before making my decision. I visited and researched lots of places nearby because, as most brides, I wanted this to be "perfect." There may be nice accommodations in and around the area, but honestly nothing compares to Shannon and John's home when comparing price point, location, amenities, and helpfulness of the owners. I knew as soon as I drove up their beautiful drive, saw the jaw dropping views, the immaculate and modern kitchen (the kitchen of all of our dreams, seriously), the bedrooms (each with attached bathrooms), the putting green, Buddy their dog (who can, but does not have to, stay during your visit), the sun room, the hot tub ... it's just perfect in every way. We had a total of 10 people and everyone just raved - they kept complimenting me on how luxurious, convenient, and comfortable everything was for a large group. I had a relaxed and beautiful rehearsal dinner overlooking the Safari Park and San Pasqual Valley, we made toasts at sunset, roasted smores around the firepit, and ended with a relaxing soak in the hot tub. The next day I was able to get ready for my wedding minutes from the winery, and my wedding photographer and hair/make up lady just kept shaking their heads in wonder about what a great set up this was for beautiful backdrop photos before the wedding. And that all is reason enough - but even more is just how kind and responsive Shannon and John were before, during, and after our stay. They walked us through the home and detailed how everything works, they even helped set up chairs for the rehearsal dinner. They truly wanted this to be a memorable stay for me and my family, and that is exactly what it was. In sum, I cannot recommend this home highly enough.

It's been a year since my family stayed her for our spring break and my kids still talk about going back to the "San Diego' house (ages 10, 8 and 3). This property is perfect for a family getaway, lots of room to spread out, very clean, well-maintained and equipped (especially the kitchen) and also filled with games, billiard table, ping pong table, toys, outdoor putting green, the 'airplane', you name it -it was there and had everyone entertained each day. Very nicely appointed, you can tell this is the owner's home and not the typical rental property. Shannon did everything to make our stay enjoyable - even having dinner ready for our late arrival. Also this location is a great spot to base for San Diego trip. The Safari Park is a few minute drive, beach (without traffic) and downtown San Diego in under 30 minutes. Seems rural with the views/privacy but 10-15 min/1 exit from regular shopping so couldn't be better placed. And who can forget Buddy and his friend Simba! My kids loved having a dog for a week, how many rentals come with that option! Thanks for a great stay - we still recall it fondly 1 year later.

Shannon and John were friendly and very helpful answering questions before we even arrived. When we arrived they explained in detail how to operate the many features of the property. The property is clean and well maintained inside and out. There are many features not mentioned on the website like the outdoor kitchen, outdoor bar fridge full of beer, sun room, etc. The kitchen has many amenities and is stocked with several essential items, and some food as well. The view from the property is fantastic and hard to picture until you arrive. The hot tub is great and yes it does get hot. We were in awe of the night view as well. The house is huge with a bathroom for every bedroom and then some. Buddy, the dog is very friendly and our girls loved him. A cat also showed up for a couple of days which added to the fun. I totally recommend this luxury vacation home.

We were in Escondido to celebrate Thanksgiving with family who live in the area. We had our two daughters, sons-in-law, and four young granddaughters. Everyone loved the house. Spectacular views, incredible kitchen with all the necessary cooking utensils, and outside spaces to enjoy. The little ones loved the spa and Buddy, and the adults enjoyed the putting green and sitting areas. There is a game room and spacious rooms throughout the house. We went to the Safari Park, nearby Kit Carson Park, drove to Oceanside for a beach day, and spent a day at Joshua Tree National Park. We met John and two of his daughters and they were very friendly and helpful. This is a special place. Mary and Alan S.

I stayed with my family (5 adults) for 10 days in September and we had a wonderful time. Shannon and John met us at the house on arrival, gave us a great welcome and made sure we knew where everything was. Their home is equipped with everything you could ever need. Highlights for us included:
1. The incredible views across the surrounding countryside
2. The grill/spa/fire pit - we had some great BBQs
3. The pool table
4. The putting green
5. Buddy!
Highly recommended.

WOW!! We were in the area for our son's wedding and needed a place that could accommodate our whole family (8 adults and one child). Shannon and John have an incredibly beautiful home with amazing views from every vantage point inside and outside! Totally enjoyed the patio/grill/spa area and of course the fire pit in the evening. Buddy kept us company as well! We would come back again without hesitation - Thank you Shannon and John!

Really couldn't have asked for a better experience, the place was immaculate, stocked beyond what I would have expected and really hope I have a reason to be in the area again. John and Shannon were super easy to work with and everybody fell in love with Buddy.
