About this cabin rental
Our cabin is available for both short and long term rentals. It is professionally cleaned and disinfected in accordance with anti-viral sanitation standards between each guest visits..
Three Bears Cabin is a quintessential storybook Tahoe cabin designed and built by famed Tahoe architect Burt Anderson (it is rumored that he even lived in this house at one point).
This cozy cabin is perfect for 1 or 2 couples (4 adult maximum) or a family of up to 5 for your summer or winter vacation on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. It is located 3 miles south of Tahoe City in the quiet neighborhood of Pineland, on a well-maintained road that is mostly traveled by local residents (no through traffic). You'll feel comfortable having the kids and dog playing in the yard around the house, knowing the car traffic is at a minimum here.
You'll enjoy a fully-equipped cabin with plenty of off- street parking, a large southeast facing wrap-around deck with outdoor dining and BBQ areas and a 6 person hot tub. Inside you'll find a mud room with ski racks and boot & glove dryers, full size washer and dryer, mountain decor and architecture, 39' flat screen TV with High-Def cable, TiVo DVR, Blueray DVD player are all available to make your stay feel like home. There is a second TV+DVD player in the loft, making it the perfect spot for the kids to settle in and watch a movie before bed. Secure 50MB wireless internet access is available for all your electronic devices. Central heating will keep you warm and cozy, and a freestanding gas stove in the living room adds extra warmth and ambiance. A recliner sofa in living room is ideal for settling in to watch the game or a movie. A fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, and all bedding is provided to make your stay simple and relaxing.
The house is located directly across the street from Ward Creek, and the lake itself is located less than 1 mile away. Popular summer activities include fishing, boating, swimming, paddle boarding, kite boarding, kayaking, canoeing, sun bathing on the beach, jet skiing, etc.
Take a leisurely stroll to four great restaurants: Sunnyside Resort, Firesign, Shadyside, and Spoon. A ski/snowboard rental shop (West Shore Sports), and a mini-mart/deli/liquor store (West Shore Market) are all less than 1 mile away from the cabin.
A half-mile walk will take you to Kilner Park, where you can find beach volleyball, lighted tennis courts, swings, sandbox, jungle gym, and the biggest spiral slide in Tahoe! And just across Highway 89, you'll find the beach!
In winter, a shuttle bus conveniently departs from Sunnyside Resort every 30 minutes for pick-up and drop-off at Alpine Meadows' Sherwood lift, which is only 2 miles/5 minute drive up the road. Imagine the convenience of not having to get in the car to get to your ski lift! Alternatively, family-friendly Homewood Ski Resort is only 3.5 miles away and world renowned Squaw Valley is just 20 minutes away. Cross country skiing, backcountry skiing, and snowmobiling is accessible right out of the back door.
In summer, the Tahoe Rim Trail trailhead is conveniently located 1/2 mile away for mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts. Less than 1 mile away, 15 miles of paved bike path makes for great family fun with commanding lake views. The bike path is also used for roller-blades, jogging, walking or access to the Truckee river bike path for fishing and rafting. For those looking for more of a challenge, try biking up to either Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley ski resorts from the bike path along Hwy 89.
Tahoe City is a short 3 miles drive where you will find all the amenities expected in a small mountain town: lake-side fine dining, shopping, coffee shops, bars, grocery & drug stores, ethnic food restaurants, movie theater, yoga studios & day spas, fitness clubs, banks, golf courses, bike/ski/snowboard rentals, river rafting, fly fishing, boat rentals, etc.

It was a nice stay.

We had a great stay. The place is really nice, close to relatives, and well maintained. Two thumbs up!

The house was very comfortable. The kitchen was clean and easy to use. The hot tub was enjoyable. The neighborhood was pleasant and quiet. It was a wonderful place to relax and unwind and spend time together as a family.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this cozy cabin. It was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay - my 2 year old really enjoyed playing with the box of Lincoln Logs he found in the loft upstairs, and my husband and I enjoyed the hot tub. It’s a lovely property and we will definitely be renting this place again!

Property worked well for 4 people, loft area upstairs provided necessary privacy for couple.

We snuck up to Tahoe to enjoy some spring skiing at Palisades and were pleased to find this charming cabin so conveniently located.

House was a little run down but very clean. Kitchen had some broken things - coffee maker doesn’t work, French press is missing parts that make it functional. The only positive was that the hot tub worked great. Appalling issue was that the bed in the downstairs bedroom was broken. Contacted owner on the first night and left a voicemail. No response. Contacted through the Vrbo platform messaging system the next night and didn’t hear back until the third morning with questions about what parts were broken after our multiple messages clearly stated what was broken. Said he would send a replacement mattress and instead sent a “handyman” without any notice over to the house to “fix” the mattress. Have you ever fixed a mattress that has broken coils? I haven’t and neither has the handyman because I believe it is impossible. A new mattress that is equivalent in quality to the other bed would have been quite cheap to provide, instead the handyman put a piece of plywood under the mattress and called it good. Communicating with the host was horrible to non existent - he was in Mexico? Don’t know because we never actually got a clear communication from him. The two adults that unfortunately had that room had an awful experience. We frequently rent houses and have hosted as well so we have an idea of how things should go and this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. There are many more rentals in the area, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Perfect I want to know it the owner rode all of the skis used for fence around the hot tub?
4.7
Came to ski, property fits 4 comfortably, close to the lake and mountains (Palisades). Hot tub! Everything we needed.

We’ve rented 3 Bears several times & always enjoyed our stay.

cute cabin, good but small setup. hot tub was lovely.

The title says it all. The place was as described in the listing. Love the location. No issues checking in. We're very appreciative of the owner in accommodating our pet situation. Our family had a wonderful couple of quiet days together. It was not a big deal to us, and I'm nitpicking, but we never could find pot holders. The coffee pot was broken but functional. And the kitchen knives are a bit sketchy to use (dull and flimsy). But none of that would stop us from coming back. Hope to in the summer time if available. Thanks!

Has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

This was a charming, cozy cabin for our Thanksgiving break with two adults, a 10yo and a 13yo. The kids stayed in the loft and we had room for lounging. The hot tub was super clean. Central heat and gas fireplace and washer/dryer and wifi meant we could pretend we were roughing it in the mountains.
One small plumbing issue the day before Thanksgiving but thankfully the owner responded right away and sent someone over to check on it and called the plumber for that very day so we never lost use of any sink/shower/dishwasher/washer which was appreciated (and not always the case with these mountain cabins!).
Great local hiking and location near Tahoe City.

Three bears cabin was very comfortable, cozy, and clean. Great location for the activity my wife and I wanted to do. I recommend staying there very highly.

Lovely cabin in the woods. We actually Daw a couple bears the first day so make sure to take precautions. It had everything we needed. My only complaint is the beds were too soft for my back but that’s a preference thing.

The cabin was exactly what we were looking for for our stay in Tahoe. It was clean and cozy and was in the perfect location for accessing many wonderful restaurants, shops, hikes, and the lake itself. The hot tub was great but did have some debris floating around. The TV was on when we arrived, which did concern us a little that we had been double booked, but once we were inside (which we had no trouble with) we read it was on to deter bears from entering the cabin while people were away. It would have been nice to know to expect the TV to be on when we arrived. The check-in information provided in the cabin was thorough and helpful. The info on bears was a bit startling and sounded as if bears getting in the cabin was imminent. We were fortunate to run into some lovely folks that lived in the area that helped us understand that it was unlikely that we would see a bear, but to make sure we followed the suggestions not to attract any bears. Reassurance of the unlikeliness of having a bear enter the cabin would have been beneficial in the check-in information. Overall our stay was wonderful and we would be very likely to book this cabin again.

This quaint little cabin was the perfect get away for a week of relaxation. Close enough to lots of activities and restaurants, while being a bit removed from all the hustle. We hope to make it back someday.

We had such a wonderful stay at the 3 bears cabin! It was just right for a long weekend getaway. We have two young boys and they loved the loft and upstairs area, and Lincoln logs. We all loved the jacuzzi, deck and comfortable living area. And most of all dog friendly was so important and appreciated for our dog to join us. Everything was smooth and easy to communicate with the host. It had all we needed. We love the area as well, Quiet and a short drive to west shore deli, Firesign, the beach and sunnyside. All favorites of ours. You could walk if you’re up for it. Thank you and we would definitely recommend and love to come back again!

It was a nice cabin, but a bit smaller than we thought. John was very quick to respond to any questions and for a smaller family or a couple it is a great cabin.
4.7
Our family enjoyed the home and hot tub! Great location and well appointed.

We had a great stay this winter. The house was cozy and suited our party of 4 adults (and two cats) comfortably. There was easy access to a variety of local restaurants and supermarkets. With everything plowed it was 15 minutes to either Palisades location. Our only issue was the previous rental party wasn't very tidy - we kept finding beer cans, water bottles, towels and so on as the snow melted or deep behind furniture (two cats you see...). The hot tub upon arrive was pretty green and foamy but mid-week a professional showed up to completely drain and clean it completely (we didn't have to ask the property manager). The times we did contact the property manager they were extremely quick to respond and helpful. We would stay again.

Great location in close proximity to palisades and Tahoe city
4.7
This place was a perfect stay. The cabin had everything we could have needed for relaxing and post snow warm ups. We caught the tail end of an epic snow dump that maximised our fun. Honestly, give credit to your snow guys! They did a stellar job. I will definitely be keeping this place in the books for future stays.
4.7
This cabin was the perfect place to recharge and rest. Thank you so much!
4.7
Perfect for the two of us, plus our dog....instructions were perfect.
4.7
My wife, six year old son, and I had a nice stay. Truth be told I must have read the listing square footage wrong because it was smaller than I expected and only one bathroom. But that was my own fault. Very clean, my wife fell down the stairs within an hour of arriving - those suckers are small and slippery! Nice woodsy Tahoe cabin. Room to park the boat trailer. We had bear visitors one night, no harm done. Beds need new mattresses!

Family Ski Trip
Enjoyed our stay at the cabin for a weekend ski trip. Nice location for skiing at Pallisades Tahoe / Alpine Meadows and easy access to Tahoe City restaurants / shops. The property was clean and served us well for a few days.

We stayed at this cabin for a week (7-14 of January). Great cozy cabin with hot tub:) it was enough for 4 of us. We took free shuttle to snowboard at Homewood ski resort for 4 days, great resort with AMAZING view of the lake . It’s breathtaking. Also there is a marina by Sunnyside restaurant that has gorgeous lake view ( especially during sunset). It’s located within 5 min ride on the car. We did a lot of activities throughout out our stay : we went to 2 ski resorts, casinos, restaurants and sight seeing! Thank you John for letting us stay at you cozy 3 bears cabin!

Entering the property was nice, was a little smaller then I imagined but still up to par on my expectations. Kitchen was fully stocked and entertainment was there for when it rained and when we stayed in. Communication was there when I needed it. I would return if welcomed back.
