We've had the great pleasure of staying at Lisa and Roy's beautiful Sekawa Beach Cottage for the last week and a half. I cannot begin to tell you what a lovely place this is and what a lovely couple Roy and Lisa are. The house is located in a beautifully quiet area outside of Savusavu amongst beautiful gardens and birdsong. The house is in tip-top condition and has everything you could possible need for a comfortable stay. The massive California King bed may also be the most comfy bed I've ever slept in while on holiday. (Great night sleep every night.) The big kitchen is set up with modern/new appliances... the bathroom is big and clean and the shower has awesome water pressure. Roy and Lisa couldn't be more kind and accommodating. If fact, we were supposed to check out of here yesterday and go to a different accommodation for the rest of our stay in Savusavu. Once we arrived at "Bill's place", we instantly regretted it. While charging close to the same amount as Sekawa Beach Cottage, it wasn't even close in comparison. The lack of cleanliness was shocking. We immediately phoned Lisa to see if she still had an opening so we could come back and she did! We immediately left the other sad accommodation and were greeted as old friends when Roy and Lisa welcomed us back. If you're debating if this is the right place for you... just make the booking, you will not regret it. Vinaka vakalevu, Roy and Lisa!

Would highly recommend Lisa and Roy's place. A haven of tranquillity set in immaculate landscaped tropical gardens. Surrounded by native trees and birdsong, with views down to Savusavu Bay. The house is incredibly well equipped with all you could possibly need for a home away from home. Brand new (huge!) fridge-freezer, new oven, very well equipped kitchen. We comfortably slept 4, with the children sleeping on the beds in the lounge and one sleeping outside on the big Queen sized bed under a mosquito net. Lisa was always only a message away to answer all our questions before we arrived or whilst we were there. Would highly recommend making use of her local contacts for cooking for a night or two, the meals were the culinary highlight of our stay. The beach is a short stroll down the hill, and 20 minutes further brings you to a beautiful river for swimming. We also used a local guide Miaka to take us to various local sights - heart of gold, and humbling generosity. Would highly recommend Split Rock for snorkelling - saw almost as many different types of fish there as at Natewa Bay (Ocean Ventures). If time / weather permits would also recommend Namena Marine Rerserve. But be sure to leave enough time for simply absorbing the serenity of Lisa and Roy's place, it was always so great to get 'home' to, a true oasis in Savusavu. Vinaka vakalevu!

This property is exactly as described in the listing. As a couple who enjoy cooking for each other we were pleased that the kitchen was well equipped for making both kaiviti and kaivalagi style dishes. Hosts Lisa and Roy shared their knowledge of where to get local ingredients and provided us coconuts (complete with grater) and fresh herbs from their beautiful tropical garden! We were far enough away from Savusavu town to feel peaceful and secluded but close enough for convenient shopping, pearl farm tour, snorkeling at Split Rock and checking out the busy Saturday fish and produce market. Lisa set up the initial taxi transfer for us from the airport and then gave us Vinod's direct number to use for the rest of our stay. He was so prompt and available it was like having a personal driver!
The beach is very private and the gradual sandy slope makes it nice for swimming. The walk to the beach is pleasant going downhill and a little slower coming back up in the heat of the day. After a couple of times we got used to looking forward to enjoying the breeze out on the deck overlooking the water after our walk. Overhead fans inside the bure and out on the deck (as well as AC in the bedroom) provide plenty of options for cooling off since it was still hot and humid during our April stay.
Wifi worked great and decent local cell reception when needed.
This was a great tropical getaway spot and exactly what we had hoped for our two week vacation.

Roy and Lisa are the best hosts! This property checks all the boxes that make a vacation great. The house had all amenities: kitchen fully equipped to make meals, ac in bedroom to provide comfort on hot afternoons and evenings, entertainment Center with an incredible selection of movies and music upon request, fans in every room, kayaks available for use. Lisa and Roy were so helpful with providing advice and recommendations for making our stay a wonderful experience. They arranged taxi to meet us at the airport, stocked the refrigerator with some food, dropped off fruit and gave some helpful hints.

Everything from confirmation to Kava. Lisa and Roy are amazing and they made our time on Savusavu so much better. We were provided with a taxi from the airport and connections for diving and site seeing.
Beautiful views from the deck to the Bay and a short quarter mile walk down a hill to the water.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

Thank you so much for your hospitality Lisa and Roy. Our little family of three enjoyed your home thoroughly. The house was clean and included everything for a comfortable stay. We were treated to fresh produce from the garden and lots of helpful advice on everything you need to know locally.
The house is set on a gorgeous property, with a wrap around balcony and ocean views. We loved taking lazy naps out on the daybed and sleeping through the night with all the doors and windows open.
Thank you for making our little one’s first holiday so enjoyable :)

Lisa and Roy, your hosts at the Sekawa Beach guest cottage will astonish you with their care and thoughtfulness!
Lisa was available to answer all our many questions and suggest day trips. She organized our airport transportation to Savusavu, with a stop for groceries, a visit to the farmers market and the liquor store, as well a SCUBA dive in pristine Natewa Bay.
Their guest house is a lovely spot set a little ways up the hill from Sekawa Beach. The house is meticulously cared for and has everything you will need to make your stay comfortable.
If you want peace and quiet, surrounded by tropical beauty, it’s perfect. Their well maintained grounds and surrounding flowers, plants and trees will make you think you are in a tropical paradise. Every morning Lisa left two fresh hibiscus for us to enjoy.
The beach (about a 10 minute walk) is a beautiful hard packed sand beach which you basically have to yourself. It is great for walking or running at low tide. Occasionally, you will meet Fijians who greet you with a smile and Bula. Lisa and Roy have like new single person kayaks, which you can use to kayak out to snorkel on a buoyed reef about 750 metres offshore and to paddle down the meandering Sekawa River, which is close by.
Lisa also organized a trip for us with a local guide Micah to see a village and a beautiful waterfall, and also to take us to Split Rock to snorkel. Micah had fresh coconuts ready to eat and drink when we finished. He then showed us the hot pools in Savusavu where the locals cook their meals. Interesting.
Roy and Lisa performed a Kava ceremony for us teaching us how to pound the root and then prepare the powder for drinking by steeping the powder in a double lined mixing bag (saree material) with water and kneading the bag in their Tanoa bowl. The kava solution is stirred with a bili bowl and served with a beautiful Taki (a coconut shell server). The ceremony and the drink is relaxing and was the perfect time to visit and get acquainted.
Sauvsauv is about a 20 minute drive to the guest house by taxi or local bus ,when you need groceries or want to go to dine out. Surf and Turf served us a delicious meal and the Captain's Table receives good recommendations.
By the end of our 10 days we felt like family. Highly recommended and more!

If you enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city or … Denarau… consider this cottage stay off the beaten track.
Cooking fresh market vegetables from Savusavu, swimming in the sea every day, relaxing on the veranda watching birds in the tropical garden ….
To top all of the physical attributes off, your hosts will astonish you with care and thoughtfulness. Lisa is a treasure who is always on hand to answer questions and suggest day trips. We are already planning our return to this piece of paradise found.

My family has been traveling the world for a year and this is the most beautiful, unspoiled beach location we've seen. Most beaches are already built up with hotels and condos, but this is just a few houses, placed in such a way that the view is unobstructed, and beautiful untouched rain forest. If you are looking for nightlife right outside your door it's not here, but if you want peace and nature it's perfect. Savusavu is only about a 20 minute drive so even though you're in nature you're not far from shopping and restaurants. There are plenty of fun activities and day trips within a short drive, and Lisa is very helpful in giving advice and even putting you in contact with the right people. This is a huge help because online information isn't completely updated in this area and people seem to use phone connection rather than email. So definitely a good place to accept the help of local folks rather than trying to organize everything yourself. Lisa organized our airport transportation with a wonderful driver. We ended up using him for all our trips to Savusavu and he became a guide and a friend, even watching our kids at the park while we were grocery shopping. Lisa organized a trip for us with a local guide Micah to see a village and a beautiful waterfall, and also the most amazing snorkeling trip we've ever had with another contact of hers. We did another day trip with Parmesh to see a botanical garden and a sustainable cacao farm. Lisa and Parmesh recommended we add a stop at a hot spring which I had written off due to outdated information found online, but it was definitely worth seeing and another good reason to use local expertise. On days we didn't leave the property, we were still busy exploring the huge garden and the beach. Lisa and Roy let us use their kayaks and transported them for us, and even organized a Fijian cooking lesson and meal with a local woman as our teacher. We had great educational and cultural experiences without having to go anywhere. Would definitely recommend this location for Worldschoolers, vacationing families, or couples. The house is well equipped and very comfortable, with good airflow so we didn't even need AC. Only one bedroom, but arranged cleverly so we didn't feel at all crowded as a family of four. Really can't say enough good things about this stay.

We loved our stay at Sekawa! Roy & Lisa are the best hosts! So helpful, nothing was a problem and we enjoyed the little extras!
We enjoyed making friends with some of the locals and loved the fresh fruits. Getting to and from town was no problem. Everyone so friendly and helpful. 10/10

When my partner and I arrived at the Sekawa Beach Cottage, we immediately wondered aloud why we hadn't booked a stay here for the entirety of our trip. The cottage is better than the photos, and the kindness and generosity of Lisa and Roy is incomparable. It was at this point in our trip that we finally were able to relax because every detail of the house supported that goal. The beach is a short 10-min walk and is breathtaking; you can truly walk miles/kms in either direction. There are kind local people that greet you, or wonderfully friendly dogs that join you on your stroll. And the gardens that Lisa and Roy have created make your views absolute paradise. The surrounding land is unspoiled and bursting with animal and plant life. We feel so lucky to have experienced this beautiful place, and to have met Lisa and Roy; by the end of our time, we felt like family. And they are very respectful of safety during the pandemic! We cannot wait until our next opportunity to return to this absolute gem of a place.

we had all the fruit we could eat and more. hard for those in the northeast to imagine all the fresh produce available in February. Besides the property being well maintained, very clean, the major plus for us was the flexible check in, check out policy. We arrived very early and stayed late into afternoon the day we left. That was no problem at all. Hosts always available with many helpful suggests on vacation plans.

The guest house is wonder. Very clean and inviting. The California king size bed was extremely comfortable after a day of hiking, swimming in the ocean, and walking on the powder sand beach looking for shells just down the hill from the rental. I really enjoyed seeing our first orange dove from the guest house deck and parrots while walking to the Savusavu bay. The owners Lisa and Roy are very helpful and have great knowledge on what the area has to offer. They are very kind and always ready to answer a question on where to go or what to see. I’m so glad Lisa told us of the waterfalls trek in the neighboring village. It is gorgeous, and a must see. The village people are very sweet and have beautiful hand made jewelry to sell. Thank you Lisa and Roy for a wonderful stay in your guest house! We will be back!

The property itself is an absolutely breathtaking jungle garden. Beautiful landscaping and a fabulous cottage. The views from the wraparound deck of the gardens and the ocean are stunning! The cottage has such a homey feel, you are comfortable as soon as you walk through the doors. The beach ,which is a short walk away, is stunning . The hosts, Roy and Lisa make you feel as though you arrive as a guest, but you leave as a friend. They are both willing to share their knowledge of the area and happy to help out with suggestions of places to see and things to do while staying in Fiji.

Lisa & Roy's property is absolutely beautiful, and the amount of love they've put into making it a peaceful and relaxing place to stay is very obvious! Everything we needed was at the place for us when we arrived - lots of kitchen gear to cook full on meals; a great setup in the bedroom (huge bed + a/c); and comfy hangout areas in both the living room and the outdoor patio (where we spent a majority of our time!) Lisa & Roy were both extremely helpful throughout our stay, too. They helped us book excursions, gave us tips on restaurants to try out in town, and gave us directions for where to do grocery shopping and the like. It was such a pleasure to meet them and get to spend time with them!We rented a car, which was really helpful to get into town and explore the island. There are also great walks right from the cottage - we went running and walking along the paths and roads every day we were there. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay that's tucked away in the beautiful Fijian forest and just a short walk to the beach, this is your place!

The cottage was everything we had hoped for!! Lovely people, beautiful surroundings and very peaceful. The drive into SavuSavu was not long at all. We enjoyed everything about it.

Had a wonderful time! Definitely a great place for R&R! The location and accommodations were better than expected. A clean, comfortable, beautiful place with a great views, scents, and sounds (birds). The bed out on the deck was a plus...waking up to birds chirping, the scents of honeysuckle, and the view of all the stars at night. The kitchen was well stocked with all you need for cooking. Wifi worked well.
The hosts were great, they were welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. They referred great locals who really made the stay even better, from cooking, to massages, to taxis, and even someone to guide us around. Roy and Lisa are the best!
The town is about 20 minutes away, both taxis and bus are accessible.

My wife and me, 79 and 70 years old, spend 102 days in an exeptional wel equipped and very well kept bungalow. My wife is Swiss and very spoilt and she never ever had such a comfortable place. Our hosts lived close by and nothing within reason was too much for them as far as helping out was concerned. Any problem with the house or whatever was solved on the spot. There was no Fijitime in their dictionary. Fijitime is a real nuisance and means that things that bother you will not be solved or only at annoying pace. Our Landlords, Roy and Lisa became somehow very very dear to us without becoming too close, all very professional. We had the time of our live there in a very stimulating area. We have travelled the world and experienced many pleasant holidays but this one was top of the bill .

Staying at this guest house was the perfect getaway, nestled in the beautiful tropical landscape, such a paradise! Both Roy & Lisa welcomed us and the homely atmosphere was so warm and comfortable for us. As two young girls travelling alone we felt incredibly safe in this secluded hideaway, it really is one of the nicest places we've stayed in Fiji. The short walk to the beach was so peaceful and the views over the bay were just amazing. It was a very special treat staying here and we would highly recommend this for a wonderful trip in Savusavu.

This holiday rental is is situated in a very quiet, sparsely populated area, a short walk from a private, black sand beach, and overlooks lush tropical greenery. It is great for bird watching from the wrap-around verandah, and the house itself is well-appointed, light and airy. The comfortable king size bed, quiet, and the absence of street lights meant we slept very well. The owners are welcoming and hospitable, and seem to have anticipated anything their guests could want for their stay. Travel to and from Savusavu is easy enough, but we opted to stay home as much as possible -- it was that relaxing! We are hoping to return as soon as we can.

For two weeks my husband and I awoke to cheerful birds singing the songs of a new day at Sekawa Beach Cottage. With no other sounds except for gentle breezes and the odd rain drops, relaxation is inevitable. My fisherman husband especially loved going to the beach early in the morning while I lounged with my coffee and breakfast on the veranda enjoying the birds and beautiful tropical landscaping. A short walk from the cottage takes you to the beach where whether treasure hunting or fishing from the sandy beach, the rocky coral point or at the river mouth, there were always sites to enjoy: from fish, to turtles, to sunsets, to beautiful corals and all the beauty of the jungle rainforest in between. While many postcard picture moments only come available a few times a year we managed to see them every day.
Roy and Lisa are amazing hosts and are loaded with all the information you could ever ask of them. They helped us with all the inquiries we had prior to our travel, making planning for packing and what to expect on arrival so much easier than going in blind. They are extremely knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations for food and sights in and around Savusavu. We can't thank them enough for the wonderful time that we experienced. We also enjoyed kava and a lovo with them on our last day and that will be a memory that stays with us forever.
The Fijian people are incredibly friendly and welcoming, you cannot walk past anyone without them giving you a friendly "Bula" with a smile. Shopping in the produce/fish markets were wonderful experiences, amazingly fresh and cheap fruits and veggies. We joked that this was easily the most healthy we have ever eaten on a holiday.
The cottage itself was exceptionally clean and outfitted with everything you could possibly need: full kitchen with everything you'd ever need, comfy bed, lots of closet space, washer and dryer, full entertainment center (and access to an extensive movie collection!) One of my favorite things was the bed outside on the veranda with the netting that was perfect for afternoon naps!
Everything we experienced was wonderful. The sights, the sounds, the people, the food, the weather..........If you want to experience Fiji and relax while doing so, this is the place. You'll love it, we did!

We were looking for a quite comfortable place that was self contained clean and complete- we found it here ! Great hosts and the whole area is excellent, the beach, the forest, the local Fijians, the local food, and the accomodation is awesome and affordable. The $1500 a night resort hidden in the forest next door is a firm recommendation for the quality of the area.
So many things to see and do locally and in the region.

We had a perfect time in Savusavu. A great place to stay, with the wonderful hospitality of our hosts Roy & Lisa and a great location. We were able to feel welcome, relaxed and able to enjoy both the peacefulness of birds and being surrounded by rainforest and to walk to the beach and have it all to ourselves or walk in the rainforest to a waterfall, able to swim feeling the water fall on us. A great place to stay.

The property is pristine and the house is SO clean and relaxing with a surrounding veranda overlooking a tropical garden. Close to the beach with views to Savusavu from there. This is a real holiday destination. Although we were here for work too, it is a short run to town with scenic views on the way that are nothing short of spectacular. We are well travelled in Fiji because of our work but this is the best place we have stayed in, in Fiji (including the Novatel in Suva). We will come again.

I loved staying in this home. It is on a nice property, with short walk down to a beach that is almost your own. The owners are very kind, and are close at hand and live in a separate house on the large property year round. There is a drive into town, but I enjoyed driving it after renting a car in Savusavu town. The road is good, but dark so consider returning before nightfall. Great experience, and wish I could have stayed longer.

This is a very nice nome in a quiet location nearby a beautiful shared beach. The homeowners who live in the adjacent house are very kind and thoughtful people. The quiet small community is very nice. The property is cery tranquil. It does require a rental car or a taxi to get in to Savusavu (perhaps 20 minites drive), but rental cars are available in town and that is what I would recommend for visitors who are not nervous about driving, although it is a dark road after nightfall. I just wish I could have stayed longer!

Gorgeous plantation style cottage nestled in tall rainforest, with the ocean and reefs just beyond. Perfect getaway if you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday. Great walks, a comfortable stroll to the Sekawa Beach. Loved the large deck with a day bed. Full kitchen and seriously, everything you could possibly need is included in this house. Right down to cups and plates for a picnic. Hosts Roy and Lisa couldn't have been more helpful. Only regret, wish we had discovered this place on our 1st trip to Savusavu!

Sitting up on a hill that streches all the way down to Sekawa beach is this spacy self-contained cottage with comfortable verandahs on three sides. You are overlooking your own private slice of rainforest with the waters of Savusavu Bay shimmering in the distance. It is a short ten minutes stroll to a two kilometers long private beach lined with coconut trees . There is a big chance that you will be the only person that is leaving footprints in the sand. Very rare to find, even in Fiji.Set amongst a carefully maintained garden abundant with tropical fruit and flowers the only noises you will hear will come from the birds.
The main bedroom has a very comfortable kingsize bed.If you prefer to be closer to nature and sleep with the sounds of the night there is also a queensize bed on the verandah under a mosquito net. Quite an experience especially when it rains outside.
There is a full kitchen completely equipped with everything that you will need to do your own cooking. Lisa will provide you with organically grown herbs and you will have fruit for desert from Lisa and Roy´s orchard.
If you are interested in Fijian cuisine then you should ask Kini, the owners house angel, to prepare her excellent Palusami, Miti or Curry accompanied by Roti for you. It is highly recommended.
Very likely Roy will ask you if you had already tasted Kava. You see, the full Fijian adventure happens here.
Dining tables are inside the house as well as on the deck where there is also a gas BBQ.
There is a landline telefone in the house and wifi is available for a small charge. TV, CD and DVD player and a wide range of books are there for your distraction.
Ceiling fans in all rooms and an airconditioning unit in the sleeping room keep you cool, although you are in the tropics. Also you will benefit from the natural breeze as the house sits in an elevated position.
Sheets and towels are duplicated, so first of all you do not have to wash. This increases the holiday mood. For your private laundry there is a washing machine and a dryer .
When we arrived the house was beautifully decorated with bouquets and in the background we heard insinuating Fijian music. The first impression
was: guests are very welcome here.
Lisa and Roy are wonderful hosts. They live in the house next door. They are very helpful with any questions you have about daytrips around Vanua Levu and about the traditional way of live here.
Sekawa Beach Cottage is a place where you will feel home at once.

Our stay at Sekawa Beach Cottage was just what we needed......peaceful, quiet but with every amenity needed in a self-contained cottage, even down to beautiful fresh fruit grown on the property. Being up in the hills of beautiful Savu Savu meant our evenings were more comfortable and we weren't woken up by early morning traffic noise. A bus ride down into Savu Savu gives a taste of local life and a taxi ride back again makes it easy to bring back any goodies brought in the town. We hope we can return soon.

The cottage is surrounded by a beautiful garden, and the beach is a short walk away. The cottage was immaculate, and has everything you could want on holiday including a washing machine and dryer, every utensil imaginable, and even a BBQ on the deck. We hired a car, and this made travelling into town easy, although there are buses and plenty of taxis. Sitting on the deck and watching the birds in the tropical garden was a highlight of our trip. Roy and Lisa were wonderful hosts, attentive but not intrusive, and I highly recommend staying here.

Third visit in as many years should say it all. 9 year old grandson preferred it to the big resort we stayed at for a few nights before - he loved going to the local villages, playing table tennis, the walks , beaches and of course Vatu the wonder dog. The cottage has always been immaculately clean on arrival. Improvements from last visit include the new Californian King bed (great nights sleep) , AC in bedroom, BBQ, day bed on verandah (great views of forest and sea in the distance, very relaxing) and new washing machine. Roy and Lisa are always helpful with local advice and helping out with the little things like pumping up a flat tyre on the rental car. Great value for money and highly recommended.

Roy and Lisa could not have been more helpful. They went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and organized. Their property is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, set in a rainforest with beach views. It was so lovely to sit on their deck and listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy their garden. They have thought of everything a visiting guest could need, not only all the little things you forgot to pack, like an extra sarong but also interesting reading material and great music. They have strong connections with the locals so can organize unique experiences of Savusavu for you (an Indian cooking lesson for me and an incredibly hospitable church experience in a nearby village) Our hosts even treated us to a kava ceremony in their home... The cottage has a very comfortable kingsized bed, a new washing machine and they have their own well. After experiencing the dark water that's prevalent elsewhere in the area, that turned my white clothes muddy, this was quite a reprieve. This beautiful pure water is drinkable too. We would highly recommend their accommodation. We loved it.

Looking for a place to go away from home, here is a beautiful and nice spot for you...Sekawa Beach. The place is very refreshing because it was on top of the hill good for sightseeing, gazing for the colorful birds that flying around the area, but what makes us both feel good is the people who owns the place ( Roy and Lisa). They are very hospitable and loving, always ready to care for what we need, thereafter we both recommend this place to everyone. The bungalow type of house is very comfortable, everything is complete. It's really a "home sweet home". But if you need some more things, then don't be reluctant to ask because they are very happy to help you.We hope to meet you there soon,

The cottage is lovely, spacious and well appointed and maintained with lush, colorful grounds and excellent bird watching from the veranda. Appreciated the kitchen, laundry, and entertainment facilities, and especially the owner's, Roy and Lisa's, fabulous hospitality and kindness. We enjoyed the beach, river trip, and children's mekke, too. Much more than simply renting a vacation cottage! This has been much more like visiting long time friends for a great new adventure. Highly recommend the Fishing Charter for bombastic hook-ups and great take-downs in true tropical fishing style! This has been a must return soon experience, never to forget. MASSIVE RESPECT to Roy and Lisa! Susun and Monty
