About this cottage rental
Regarding Covad-19. We always take extra care with the cleaning of Coral Cottage. I make my own cleaner to avoid all the nasty chemical cleaners. I mix vinegar (many do not know that vinegar is an antibacterial) water, Mrs. Myers cleaning solution, and now I am adding propyl alcohol to amp up the effect. There is hand sanitizer, alcohol and gloves for your convenience, but the best is washing your hands for 30 seconds. Please wash you hands when you return home, and follow all suggested precautions from the CDC. Please do not put any hand wipes in the toilets. My maid always wipes all handles, door knobs and cabinets, anything touched by hands, and I am wiping them a second time.
The kitchen is the central area of the Cottage with a counter looking into the living room. With two skylights, natural light floods the house all day. Wherever possible, I have tried to make it sustainable. We removed all the old carpet, laminate flooring and linoleum (from the 50's) tile. The use of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints was very important to me, as I did not want there to be any out-gassing. The exterior was light blue with turquoise trim. We repainted it a light gray and turquoise, and added a touch of Coral around the windows. I found a cool door that looks like it is from the 50's. The original concrete floors were repaired and shined. I had the kitchen cabinets refaced instead of replacing them. We also reconditioned the original wood windows. Wherever possible, I have used cotton and natural fibers. The lawn was removed with the "sheet mulching" process, and replaced with mushroom compost. It takes longer to remove, but there were no chemicals used. Sometimes I use vinegar on pesky weeds. Currently, the garden is a work in process, and soon it will flourish as the mushroom compost is super enriched. There are succulents (from my BFF's daughter's wedding), and other drought tolerant plants. The toilets and shower heads are low-flow. My cleaning service is allergic to chlorine, so I am thrilled to say that she is familiar with the cleaning and sterilizing qualities of vinegar and baking soda. We also use Mrs. Myers products. One bedroom features a comfy queen bed with all the pillows and blankets you will need, and French doors that lead out to the backyard. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a bathroom with a shower, and a garden window with my shell collection. The gardens are a work in progress. In the living room you will find local brochures on what to do in Ventura and surrounding areas. I EVEN CREATED A CHARGING STATION FOR DROIDS AND MACS. There are a lot of amazing surf spots nearby including Ventura Point, Pitas Point and Rincon. There is a gas grill, a wood fire pit (the back neighbors have complained about the smoike, please do not use), a big screen SmartTV, blow dryers, an air conditioner in the main bedroom and the living room and lovely patio table and chairs in the backyard. There is also an Airbed for extra people, plus 2 twin beds. (There is an extra charge for more than 3 people). The kitchen has a full size gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, French press (you might find some coffee in the frig), a small Crock Pot, and plenty of cooking supplies. There is a full length mirror on the bedroom doors. The Pier is about 1.5 miles north; To the south is Marina Park and Beach which is a great kids beach. There is plenty of parking, picnic areas, and a small tot sized ship for exploring. The bike path and state beach are about 4 blocks north. The Seaward business district has plenty of restaurants and only 5 blocks(beach blocks are short) to the south. (See the guide book in the guide). Ventura is a not only a city, but a county with numerous cities and communities with their own personalities. There is great hiking in the hills. Coral Cottage is a block to the beach. Ventura County Fairgrounds are about 2.5 miles away, Downtown has lots of restaurants and fun shops. We also have a live music scene and an artist community. Lastly, please enjoy your stay. Thank you for choosing Coral Cottage.

Our hostess was very gracious. The place was well stocked with condiments, utensils, small appliances, etc. Nice dishwasher and disposal. Neighbors friendly. Cable TV nice as we watched the Olympics all week. Parking is doable. We would stay here again.

This pierpont cottage was great! Beds were comfortable and the breeze coming in through the opened windows felt awesome! Donna is very nice and showed us around the place. We met each others dogs and she made us feel right at home. I will definitely book this place again!

We took our e bikes and couldn’t be happier with the location. Watching the monarch butterflies hatch was incredible and very educational. Five stars ⭐️

Great location, beach 5 minute walk, close to stores and delicious food; lovely yard, safe for our pets. Very well-stocked: DVDs, books, beach supplies, BBQ, kitchen stuff, towels, linens, etc. Space well-used--plenty of room for 4 adults. Queen beds very comfortable. Busyish area, but people are polite, and it's quiet at night. We felt safe and were able to relax and enjoy our week.

This was the perfect spot to relax and decompress. Our hostess was so welcoming and helpful. We loved the house and couldn’t have picked a better spot for access to the beach and restaurants.

We stayed at the beach house for 4 nights while we visited Channel Island National Park. It’s convenient to the pier and other shopping locations. We enjoyed staying in the house to relax after a long day of outting.

Adjacent to beach, downtown, food, parks and highway. Coral Cottage is a modest but private, comfy surf shack in Ventura’s coolest and most convenient spot.

Super nice owner! We ended up using the 2 bedrooms (4 people) in the house as the 3rd bedroom is in the garage.

Stayed with my adult children, husband, and dog. We had plenty of room for all of us. Cottage has everything you need and more. Tons of DVDs and board games. We played Jeopardy two nights in a row. We flew a kite on the beach. Watched tons of sunsets and walked every morning on the beach looking at shells. Great location close to everything. Donna was a great host checking in on us and was available to answer questions. Full kitchen that I cooked breakfast in every morning. Lovely place to stay to explore Ventura.

We had such a great time. There was a full kitchen which had everything that you could possibly need. The beds were super comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves immensely by doing paint to number and watching movies. A wonderful time. Donna is an excellent hostess.

We loved our stay at the Coral Cottage! Exactly as described - SuperHost Donna not only welcomed us, but checked back to assure we were comfortable. Her charming and colorful cottage had everything you could (or might) need during your stay. If/when we visit Ventura again, we hope this home is available - Thank you Donna!!!

This place was all we needed for a fun-filled ten days exploring the incredible beaches all along the Ventura Freeway 101, starting with the great beach right down the street. Everything we needed was offered - beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, big beach towels, even olive oil to get the tar off our feet!
The house itself was cozy and clean, with every item and appliance you could ever need. Plus, a generous supply of paper goods, bathroom supplies, condiments, coffee and tea. We enjoyed breakfast at the house every morning and sitting in the garden at night, watching all the activity passing by.
Donna was kind enough to meet us at check-in and review all the particulars about her home. There were lots of cool personal touches - things she has collected from the beach (my passion!!) and little kitchen and bathroom items that all lent a real homey feeling to the place.
We sincerely thank her for sharing her home and would definitely stay again if we vacation in the Ventura area.

Our family (me, my husband, adult son and dog) stayed at this cottage for a week and had a wonderful time. The pictures of the cottage are accurate. The beds are very comfortable. Donna has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. The cottage is very well appointed. The front and back yard have lots of plants and flowers and every morning that we had breakfast at the cottage we looked out at the front garden and saw lots of butterflies and hummingbirds. Our dog loved looking out the big picture window in the Living Room at all the people and dogs walking by. We were always in the back yard when our dog was outside but we felt she was very safe because there were no places where she could get out. We've been to other VRBOs that were supposed to be dog friendly but actually had a lot of stuff that wasn't pet friendly. This cottage is very pet friendly. The floors are cement and super clean with throw rugs in all the rooms. We had such a wonderful time and look forward to renting here again.

Nice little cottage by the beach. It's small but perfect for our family of four. All of the beach gear needed was provided and the location was ideal for going to the beach, the park, and Main street. It also had AC, which is not always needed when you are by the beach (but was a nice amenity to have)
The owner was very attentive to our needs. This property was great, and we will rent again if available.

This was a great place for family and dogs. The house was cute, well stocked with basics and coffee. We met the owner as she was gardening when we arrived. She was friendly and accommodating. It was a very comfortable place and I didn't feel like we had to worry that our dog was going to break anything or get the carpet dirty (cement floors with rugs). It was an excellent location from the beach. We enjoyed ourselves.

We were looking for a place close to the beach while visiting our son. The cottage had everything for which we were looking. The backyard was separated into two sections, one with an outdoor sofa, coffee table and chairs where we would have our morning coffee and could relax with a book. The other section had a dining table and grill where we enjoyed several delicious meals. There are 2 bedrooms with separate bathrooms and a full kitchen with everything needed for meal preparation. The beach and restaurants were within walking distance. The owner was available to answer any questions. We will return in the future.

My husband and I stayed at the Coral Cottage for 5 nights in late April 2023. The location is superb - close to the freeway, dining, supermarket, and downtown. It is a short walk to the beach in either direction. The San Buenaventura State Beach with bicycle/walking paths is 0.2 miles away. The area is lovely, safe, and the nights were very quiet. The cottage is clean, roomy, has comfortable furniture, and is light and airy. It is the most well-appointed vacation rental we have ever stayed in. The kitchen has everything one needs for cooking, including spices, ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, etc. The bathrooms have body wash, shampoo, conditioner. Each bedside table has a power strip (no hunting for a power outlet). There are plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. There is a huge selection of DVDs. And there are clear instructions - no guessing on where things are and how to use them. We had a couple of questions about Ventura’s recycling policy, and Donna answered immediately. If I could, I would give this property 10 stars. We felt like we hit the jackpot in rental properties at the Coral Cottage.

Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our trip.

My husband and I spent 3 weeks at the Coral Cottage. It is a quaint, charming cottage whose location to the beach can't be beat. We walked down to the ocean several times a day. The Cottage itself is well stocked with anything you might need. Since we were spending three weeks there, we were hoping for a comfortable bed, and it was!
We are planning a return trip for sure.

Great property close to beach
We had a great time a Coral Cottage. It is very close to the beach, just a short walk away! Everyone is so pleasant in Ventura. We loved the patio in the front to watch everyone walking by and the patio in back for privacy. Our dog loved the place too! And the kitchen was EXTREMELY well stocked. Spices, oils, lots of dishes and pots and pans. Donna was very responsive as well. One of our best experiences with VRBO!
