About this house rental
Shrimpalope is a great beach house built in the 50’s with lots of vintage charm. It’s across the street from the beach and a short 5 minute walk to the restaurants, markets and shops in town. The house sits on a ridge above the street providing both privacy and a partial view of the ocean from the spacious front deck, and easy beach access is only a hundred feet away, plus an arcade game room in the daylight basement for rainy days!
Note that this house used to be called Perchalope :)
This is a great place for a large or extended family, several families or a group of friends.
The main floor has a living room with wood stove and a view of the ocean from a large picture window. The main floor also has the dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms with queen beds and a full bathroom
Upstairs, there is one bedroom with an attached bathroom. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed, plus there is a loft area with an additional twin bed. The upstair is a great space for all the kids or can fit a family of four.
Downstairs is a partially finished walk-out basement that has two bedrooms with queen beds, one full bathroom and a retro arcade game room.
The games in the arcade will vary, but may include ping pong, a double shot 2 player basketball game and retro arcade game such as Dig Dug multicade (with 60 games including Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Dig Dug and many more). All games are set for free play, so no need to bring quarters. Please note that some arcade games may not be operational during your stay, these are older games that sometimes break and we can't always fix them right away.
The house sleeps up to 14 people (2 people on each of the 6 queen beds plus 2 on the twin beds)
There is a long driveway in the back on the house with room for several cars, plus there are 2 additional parking spots in front of the house.

The home was comfortable for our family of 12, with plenty of things for the kids to do. The beach is just across the street and shops are walking distance nearby. We enjoyed the deck with plenty of seating, hot tub and a beach view. Would stay here again.
There weren't quite enough washcloths or silverware for our group, but made due.

Fantastic location with a view of the waves from the front room window. We really enjoyed the layout of the house with three floors it allowed for all of us to have our own space but to also gather together. The ping pong table and arcade games are great. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals for 6-8 people for a week. Would love to come back. Great hosts and great property.

This was not my first Alope Getaway and definitely won't be my last! It was, however, my first time at Shrimpalope and it didnt disappoint. The layout is good for keeping multiple generations comfortable. Having a bathroom on each floor was excellent. The living room and dining are snug for 8 adults and 3 kids, but totally doable.
The only thing I would change is more comfortable mattresses. All the couples in our group got poor sleep due to the sagging mattresses making the queen beds feel smaller.
The host communication was outstanding and they even gave us a free late check out on New Years Day. I can't wait for me next Alope Getaway!

The spaces were accomodating to the various age and family groups. We all had comfortable places to sleep. The kitchen is well stocked and great for cooking meals. The hot tub was a big hit, and the laundry facilities worked well. We really enjoyed the access to town and the beach. Thank you for letting us use your property. We are interested in seeing your other houses for future trips.

This property is not at all what we were expecting. Although yes it did have enough beds to sleep our group of 11, and also is in a great location right across from the beach, there was a lot wrong with this place. The house and deck have many issues that need addressing and updating. The basement is full of random piles of junk and open mousetraps (including open piles of fiberglass insulation) in addition to the cool arcade games. The two rooms down there are just beds in concrete rooms, down a flight of steep stairs. The dining table and main hang out space barely accommodate 8. Certainly not 11. The drinking glasses and silverware are not adequate for the number of people this house claims to accommodate. The hot tub is tiny. It would be one thing to walk into a place like this if it were priced for budget travel. But we paid out the nose for 5 nights here and based on what we got it is an outrage. The owners of this property have put the absolute bare minimum into this place. The basement contains hazards for kids down there. The deck needs serious maintenance. Even the two Adirondack chairs on the deck are falling apart with loose nails hanging off them. On top of it all we were limited to only “starter rolls” of toilet paper and paper towels. I am shocked that the owners consider all of this acceptable and worth the crazy amount of money we paid for it.

The house was very comfortable, loved the arcade room and the hot tub! Originally thought only the boys would enjoy the arcade, but everyone played ping pong and basketball. The location of the house was perfect, at the doorstep to the beach and walking distance to town. If you like to cook, the house is well stocked with pots and pans and bakeware. We would definitely look into staying here again, or at one of the sister properties.

The house was very well appointed. The three level layout was wonderful for all of our families waking up on different schedules (we had some infants along). The proximity to the beach was excellent and listening to the ocean at night (and while cooking in the galley style kitchen!) was most refreshing and relaxing. We will gladly book this home again, as it worked very well for our large multigeneration family gatherings. We also appreciated how the basic necessity things in Rockaway Beach were within walking distance and there was nice little main strip for tommy touristing and light shopping. BEST part of course, was proximity to the endless walking on the beach!

Great location
Us 5 siblings, our spouses, two teens and two kiddos gathered in memory of our sister who died three years ago - the first time we have all been together since she passed (thank you covid). We gathered from Washington, Illinois and California, so the focus was on just being together and sharing time, not a fancy place to stay. The house is older and there were a few things in need of repair - like only 3 burners working out of 4 on the stove, with 14 people staying, and eating, yikes! Still, it was comfortable and accommodated all of us nicely. The kitchen is not a "group" kitchen, it is very narrow, but we made it work. Beds were comfy, nice bed linens and towels. Lots of games, plus the arcade for the kiddos in the group. The hot tub was great, the beach access awesome. We were glad we brought camp chairs for sitting on the deck. Overall, a good experience for all of us.

What a great place!
We are a group of 60’s and 70’s friends. 4 couples and 2 singles. The place was very fitting for us. We made our breakfasts here, had lunches on our own and did dinners together. The place was clean and close enough to downtown Rockaway. A great view of the ocean and easy to get to the beach for nice walks on the beautiful sandy beach.
Sadie was very responsive to questions and so helpful! We will be back!
Try the Fish Peddler in Bay City for excellent seafood. Great little shops in Rockaway and close enough to Tillamook for the Creamery and the Blue Heron cheese store. Have so much fun!

Great Place!
Cozy cabin feel to this place - can sleep a lot of people - not huge common spaces but fine for a group of adults and older kids - not toddlers - stairs down and up take coordination > Kitchen well outfitted - really easy check in and attentive management. Made it easy for us on a rainy weekend. Thank you!

Great place for a group with kids
Felt like home. Great for kids and groups of families. Beds were comfy. We loved our time there.

Great location difficult accessibility
House is located very close to a beautiful sandy beach. Outside of house including landscaping, deck, and stairs were not maintained. The main floor can only be accessed by two flights of stairs making bringing in belongings and groceries difficult. Outlets, lamps, and light bulbs not all functional. For a house that sleeps up to 14 there is a shortage of cups, glasses, bowls, and especially silverware. Linens and bedding were nice. Also the common space is lacking for 14. Overall a decent house for the beach but parking and accessibility is limited. Owners may want to deal with ant problem before it gets out of hand. We enjoyed our time here despite shortcomings.

Sweet, clean beachside stay.
Fun, rustic beach house with plenty of room for a crowd and right across the street from the beach. The exterior could use a little attention, but inside clean and cozy. We all slept like babies in the comfy beds. Game room is a plus when you have kids in your group.

Family weekend
The house had plenty of beds for us . I knew there were stairs but these were narrow and steep . All in all the house was fine and beach access close by. Would of been better if there was more sunshine !

Great place to stay near the beach
While the pictures didn't exactly tell the whole story, this is still a great place to stay in an excellent location.

Great Family Trip
The property worked perfectly for my family with plenty of space for 12 of us, including an upper level bunk area for kids. The beach was right across the street where we spent a few beach days and built a bon fire at night. The hot tub eased our muscles after an active day of boogie boarding. Definitely recommend!

Perfect property for families
This was a fun weekend for families with children. The house is perfect with plenty of rooms for sleeping, and the basement arcade was a plus. The beach is a very short walk. We never received the email with code to get the key, so we had to call VBRO corporate and the emergency number. Still, a good weekend stay.

Great stay!
Perfect for multiple families with kids. Plenty of beerooms and seating -- it was nice to be able to have dinner all together in the same open area. Super close to the beach - literally just across the small street. Excellent coffee at the little coffee shop R&R across the main street -- we walked over every morning.

It's a great house for a large group. Easy access to the beach, lots of room to spread out, and a nice deck and hot tub. The Pronto Pup store is only minutes away!

Great location =)
This house is in a great location, right across the street from the beach. The hot tub is right out front on the deck so you can hear the surf and see the water while using it. There are a few arcade games in the basement, a ping pong table, and a tv for the times when it's too rainy to be outside, and we all enjoyed it. You can also see the ocean from the living room, dining room and kitchen so it's a pretty good view if you have kitchen duty =) Plenty of beds for our group and 3 bathrooms too. The parking was roomy and there were a couple of places to park on the side streets if you needed it. Rachelle is super nice to deal with and answered any questions that we had =)

A Wonderful Family Vacation
We arrived to a clean home ready for all 13 of us to settle in for the week. The beds were comfortable and each room was nicely decorated. Located just across the street from the beach we could walk to it without any traffic issues. All the appliances worked well and there was plenty of dishes for our crew. We recommend this place for your next vacation at the Oregon Coast.

Perfect for our family get away
This house was perfect for our family get away. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities to cook meals for the the family. The layout of the house was great and gave nice separation for adults and children. The game room was super fun, the kids are still raving. The location was great too! Steps away from the beautiful beachfront and a quick 15 minute walk to shopping. Our family enjoyed it very much and is already looking forward to making this an annual meeting place!

Great location just across the street from the beach.

The location, and common areas of this property can't be beat.
Our group had a blast! Plenty of fire wood in the basement for a sea side bonfire, just steps from the house. Be mindful of the midnight visitors (racoons), and keep your snacks cleaned up and inside at night though. We had more fun than we probably deserved, thanks to this amazing location, and well kept property.

Cute cottage with nice deck and ocean view. Arcade a huge plus!
Our families loved our time at this home. It's great for kids - bedroom layout let us put them all upstairs and between the hot tub on the deck and the arcade downstairs, they were busy the whole weekend. We couldn't find board games so if you like to play games, make sure to pack yours. It was a nice 1/2 mile walk to downtown shops when weather cleared up. Overall it was a great value and we would definitely come back.
