Designed in 2014 by one of Mexico’s top architects, this villa offers 7000 square feet of modern living space with open, airy views of the pristine beach and azure sea. Custom-built furnishings, commissioned art, a large gourmet kitchen, high-end speakers and an ample beachfront pool make this villa a stunning, stand-out property. Best of all, the villa boasts 6 spacious ocean facing bedrooms, each with a private balcony and full marble bath. All bedrooms are also equipped with a 43” flat screen TV/DVD. All areas of the villa are air conditioned.
Two handsome mahogany dining tables seat up to 18 people each; offering plenty of dining capacity both indoors and out on the patio.
From the spacious roof terrace, guests at the Villa can soak in the 360° views of the sparkling Caribbean Sea to the east and the lush Mayan Jungle to the west. They can also enjoy a night of quiet stargazing through a 5- inch aperture Celestron telescope. For those who prefer partying under the stars, the terrace also has comfortable furnishings, a built-in bar, and a bathroom.
The patio offers a gas grill, seating areas in both sun and shade, a dining table for 16, and a poolside palapa with a hammock. The tiled beachfront pool is large enough for swimming laps and includes built-in benches for relaxing afternoons in the water. The swimming pool can also be heated for an extra cost.
Kayak, Paddleboard, and snorkeling gear are available to enjoy the reef which is home to a diverse range of marine life including tropical fishes, rays, and endangered sea turtles. In the late summer months, these turtles nest all along Half Moon Bay. In fact, Akumal is a Mayan word meaning “Place of the Turtle” and many guests at this home have been lucky enough to see a huge mother turtle heave up onto the beach to lay her eggs or have watched by moonlight as hundreds of baby turtles erupted from their nest and scrambled back to the sea.

My family and I, a total of 12 people including young children, were incredibly happy at this house. It was very spacious and comfortable, and fit us all very well. The out side area was really nice, had lots of amenities for the pool and ocean, and this made it very enjoyable for our family members of all ages. the staff were super friendly and helpful, and kept the house really clean all week for us. We felt very taken care of.

The property was awesome. It fit our needs perfectly. One bedroom on first floor perfect for our 80 year old mother so no climbing stairs. Elevator was not working but probably a good thing as the younger kids would not abuse it. The beach area was smaller than we expected but still wonderful view from the house to the ocean. Most photos taken were from the palm tree in front of pool. Awesome views. Staff was great and pleasant. We would return if we take another family trip to Akumal.

Preparations thru David were very complete and timely. House staff were great, as was Manager Rhett. Home is beautiful and well supplied with kitchen stuff, paper goods, treated water coolers, pool chairs, 3 kayaks, 6 bikes, etc. Rooms huge, each with own bath and ocean views. Great pool (we had it heated). Beach is rocky till get out a ways, where snorkeling is good. Walkable to stores, restraunts, pharmacy. Safe some reviews indicate, the usual minor issues with ocean front home in Mexico (some furniture a bit worn, doors or windows hard to operate, frig a little temperamental in cooling) but none of these little things spoiled our week. We plan on going here again next year!

Villa Fortuna was the perfect place for our group to start our trip. Having walking access to a couple great restaurants and a quick golf cart ride to a bunch of great food was amazing. We loved sitting in the pool and listening to the ocean and the layout made it easy for people to get rest upstairs, or people to party the night away downstairs at the same time. The fridge is huge and we cooked a beautiful Wahoo fish dinner that we caught the day before. La Buena vida was one of our favorite food spots, and the jungle cafe was the best place for breakfast and coffee/juices. The management was a quick email or whatsapp message away always and set up tons of taxis and massages pretty much anything we could need. LOVED IT

Villa Fortuna was the ideal spot for our 2023 family vacation. All six bedrooms are beautiful and feature a complete, unobstructed ocean view, so everyone was happy, including the couple staying in the downstairs bedroom, who mentioned the windows provided sufficient soundproofing when other guests continued to hang out by the pool or common areas. Akumal Direct and Locogringo helped us plan fun activities during our stay, from private yoga lessons and on-site chef service to a beach club day on Akumal Bay.

If you are looking for a dreamy vacation don’t look any further! This house is beautiful and comfortable, and the location is just amazing. We were 8 adults and 5 kids under 5 and we had an amazing time. Ruth and Carlos kept the house clean and organized. The beach is sandy, but when you get in the water it is a little rocky which is fine as long as you bring water shoes (the house has some spare ones as well). You can swim just a couple of meters away from the shore, and you’ll find many different reefs with all types of marine life - we were lucky to see turtles, rays and all kinds of fish. We hired chef daveed for most meals and it was great to not worry about cooking and the food they cooked was just so delicious! You also have a couple good restaurants a just a few minutes away by foot. And you are just a few minutes drive from “downtown” akumal.

Great location - away from the chaos of Cancun but not so far as to be hard to reach. Close to Tulum and lots of cenetos (Aktun Chen was the highlight of our trip - don't miss it) and other cool stuff. Akumel downtown is an easy walk and has groceries, etc. Plenty of nice restaurants within a short walk.
Great house - perfect for our large family - lots of big rooms and also spacious living area downstairs for us to all congregate. The rooftop deck is a wonderful bonus.
Chef Daveed service was very professional and delicious - we used them for dinners and fended for ourselves for other meals.
Staff was very attentive and quickly dealt with the occasional minor glitch to internet or whatever.
Pool, kayaks, snorkel gear all excellent.
Highly recommend!

We had the most incredible time at Villa Fortuna! The house is stunning, the view is fabulous and the location is perfect! We felt so safe, free to explore, and it was amazing to have this house (instead of a resort) so the kids could go relax at their will, play like crazy in the pool, and having the beach to ourselves was so special. We will definitely be back! I would recommend renting a car, as transportation via taxi/Uber was much more expensive than we expected. The restaurants that are within walking distance were fantastic!
We use Chef David services and it was one of the highlights of the trip! The Cenote tours and Mayan ruins tour were so memorable - highly recommend.
The house is cleaned every day (except Sunday) by Ruth and Carlos ~ they are the sweetest couple and they did such a great job keeping us organized/clean. The house is well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen (lots of dishes/wine glasses, etc.
This was one of the best vacations we have every had. We totally fell in love with Akumal ~ I’m glad we needed up in Akumal instead of Tulum bc it was slower paced, very chill and quaint. Thank you again for such a phenomenal vacation!

We had a great stay at Casa Fortuna. Our group was 4 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 babies, and the property was perfect. Easy beach and pool access was great for the kids. The pool was big enough for lap swimming. The grassy area was wonderful for the kids to play on. And the rooms/house had everything we needed for a vacation home. The location is close to a cute coffee shop, 3-4 great restaurants, and an awesome cenote. We also used the recommended chef services for a few special meals, which were amazing.

Our 3 generation family chose the Villa Fortuna vacation home in October of 2022 for a vacation. We had a great time. The home was very spacious and the web description is accurate. The home felt very safe in the gated community of Akamal. The highlight of the trip was a launch of baby turtles on the first night on the beach next to the home. We rented golf carts to facilitate moving around the Akamal community.Pros: the sum of the outdoor seating for all meals, adjacent to the pool, which was next to the ocean. Fantastic for the grandkids and adults to bounce between the pool and the beach.Cons: The house does not have a dishwasher, lots of dishes to wash by hand.Information: The ocean is difficult for entry due to broken coral, but the snorkeling from the beach is good once one slowly navigates into the ocean.Communication with the property management staff was very easy and prompt (Rhett and David).Well done Akumal Direct Reservations!!!

semaine de rêve avec nos enfants et petits enfants. la maison est très vaste et bien aménagée. Les chambres sont immenses et ont toute un grand balcon coté mer. Propreté sans faille partout dans la maison. Carlos et Ruth sont très attentifs à nos demandes. Quelques appareils étaient non fonctionnels mais ont été rapidement remplacés. La seule déception que nous avons eu est la quantité d'algues sur la plage, c'est très désagréable et ca sent mauvais malgré qu'à tous les jours un homme peinait à tout ramasser sans y parvenir. Par contre, aussitôt cet amas d'algue traversé, nous nous retrouvons dans une eau cristalline, chaude et pleine de découvertes: poissons tortues et coquillages sur une très grande surface. Durant notre séjour, une tortue est venue pondre sur notre plage. Très belle semaine mémorable pour chacun de notre groupe de 13.

Pleased beyond expectations
The pictures of the inside don't do it justice. I was impressed to see the beauty of the property. Everything was as expected and more. I was really happy I picked this location because of the walkability of the area and how quiet and calm the neighborhood is.
The staff prior to arrival were always responsive which added to the enjoyment I experience upon arriving. I had ordered groceries prior to arrival which was a relief to help us get settled. I had reserved a golf cart the day of arrival, but I had the ability to do so prior, which I would recommend if you need one. I also ordered food service with Chef Luis Martinez and Erendira which was extremely delicious and wish I could've ordered more of their services.
Accessing the amenities of the property was extremely easy and when there were issues like the power being shut off. I was able to get in touch with the staff and with Carlos help get it back on within a few hours. The housekeeper was cleaning the house ever day and she did a great job considering how large the place is and how many people stayed with us.
Overall I am really happy with the entire experience and Akumal will have a special place in my heart. The whole reason for our stay was having our commitment ceremony in a nearby cenote. And we were able to enjoy the beach, food, animals, Yalku-Lagoon, and beautiful culture and people.

This entire experience was a success. The house was spectacular: amenities too many to list. Housekeeping excellent, bikes and water gear great to have in place, and the town a fun place to explore. Activities were very close, but we had the most fun hanging by the beautiful pool. Highly recommend.

we were a family of nine that have traveled many times together with each other usually in all inclusive resorts. we enjoyed the common area of the house where we could all meet and visit and play cards. my husband and I love to cook but the kitchen could use some updates. The stove was difficult to light and the flame is quite low much like a camping stove. The grill was not much better. The knives used for chopping were all rather doll and difficult to use. We quickly decided that cooking at the home was not that feasible so we utilize the local restaurants. The bikes seem quite dated. The kayaks we had to go rob Peter to pay Paul as far as the plugs go call me back home . The beach itself is sandy and nice but once you hit the water you’re walking on very rough rocks making it somewhat untenable to snorkel right off the beach. The snorkeling gear at the house is rather old and dated. I guess the one thing that caught me the most off guard was at the house came with housekeeping services which I was not aware of and the tipping guidelines that weren’t spelled out from the onset. Carlos and Ruth were lovely people and very helpful and accommodating and the place was kept very clean. Location was great we were by several restaurants that we enjoyed. So the pros were we got to spend time together in a closer proximity then hotels afford. The cons or the suggestions were that the house needs updates the outdoor furniture is in disrepair and the cushions on the outdoor furniture were very worn. we felt very safe in Akumal. hope this review is helpful as the intention was to provide realistic feedback to manage expectations when renting this property.

The beach itself is sandy and nice but once you hit the water you’re walking on very rough rocks making it somewhat untenable to snorkel right off the beach. The snorkeling gear at the house is rather old and dated. I guess the one thing that caught me the most off guard was at the house came with housekeeping services which I was not aware of and the tipping guidelines that weren’t spelled out from the onset. Carlos and Ruth were lovely people and very helpful and accommodating and the place was kept very clean. Location was great we were by several restaurants that we enjoyed. So the pros were we got to spend time together in a closer proximity then hotels afford. The cons or the suggestions were that the house needs updates the outdoor furniture is in disrepair and the cushions on the outdoor furniture were very worn. we felt very safe in Akumal. hope this review is helpful as the intention was to provide realistic feedback to manage expectations when renting this property.

Simply Wonderful!
This was just a perfect place for the family to get together for a birthday and holiday celebrations. The villa is beautiful, every bedroom was spacious and offered a beautiful view of the sea and the sunrise in the morning . The open living/ dining area allowed kids of different ages to have different activities at the same time (i.e. teenage phone time and younger kids playing board games). Having the beach right in front meant that we could jump in the water at any time for a swim or snorkel...huge plus for our group. Ruth and Carlos kept the villa spotless. Another big plus was being able to walk to numerous restaurants close by. So...great villa, great location...looking forward to a return

Best Home on the Beach!
We spent a week in October 2021 at this absolutely lovely home. Its very large, and the 6 master suites left everyone with a lot of privacy and comfort. The kids spent the entire week in the pool and the snorkeling was divine right out the back door. Its nice to see some brain corals and fan corals coming back. Be sure to use Reef Safe sunscreen if you get in the ocean, or better yet, wear no chemicals, just a sun shirt to protect the bay and corals. The house was just perfect. We hired a personal chef to come 2 nights and they cooked a feast that we will never forget. The caretakers Carlos and Ruth were there each day. They were so kind and helpful at every opportunity. Please plan to tip them well. They now have a paypal account to make that easier. We will be back to this house for sure!!

We rented a golf cart for a few days and used that to go into town, the ladies went to the spa - it was fabulous! We spent a day in Tulum (20 - 30 minute drive) which was awesome, as well as a yacht charter also outside of Tulum. This location is perfect for privacy and quiet enjoyment of the beach, while being close enough to go into Tulum and other surrounding areas as you wish. The house staff were kind and very helpful. A M A Z I N G. Villa Fortuna was great for our 12 guests. Two delicious restaurants close by and the chef service is definitely worth it! Our vacation was amazing at Casa Fortuna. The pool is the perfect size and right overlooking the ocean. The house was immaculate. I highly recommend the chef service. We had lunches and dinners cooked and it turned from a beach vacation into a culinary vacation. The house is spacious and modern with tasteful decor. The rooftop deck was perfect for star gazing at night. Large family sing tables both inside and out. The family that caretakers the house do an amazing job. If you need anything they go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of and comfortable. Another great thing is that between the solar panels and generator, when electricity was down for the community for a couple days we didn’t even notice. Also, water in the community was turned off for a day or so and again because this house converts seawater into fresh water, we didn’t even notice. There were a few detractors. First, the seaweed problem is bad right now. It made the beaches pretty much unusable and although they spray for the smell it still leaves an unpleasant aroma. This appears to be a problem this year throughout the Caribbean (Florida, Cuba, Jamaica, Cancun etc). However snorkeling in the bay is still gorgeous. Also, make sure to wear shoes in the house, the tiles can be VERY slippery. Finally, the stove can be a little temperamental making it difficult to cook. However once you get the hang of it, it’s a minor inconvenience.
