About the Carriage House:
We have fully renovated the Carriage House with granite countertops and an island that seats four in the kitchen, stainless appliances, granite tile flooring in the kitchen & living room, hardwood floors in the bedroom and a fully renovated bathroom inclusive of a built in travertine shower for your enjoyment. The Carriage House has all new windows and the exterior is a gray shake with white trim.
All of our amazing guests must enjoy a personal 4.0 or higher rating with Vrbo.
The Carriage House apartment is a spacious, charming, fully equipped family friendly home in the heart of New London's beach community. The apartment is quiet, private, attractive and comfortable. Private beach, wide open views of Long Island Sound and on site parking. Your apartment has a private entrance and is located on the second floor above our detached two car garage.

The Space
Our Carriage House apartment has been fully renovated for your enjoyment whether you spend just a few nights or have an extended stay!
The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size oven, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator with an ice maker and a garbage disposal. We have serving sets for eight with our dishes, flatware, glasses and stemware. The kitchen is stocked with coffee and tea along with spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar to get you started. All-Clad/Calphalon pots and pans, baking dishes and utensils are all included.
The sheets, towels and quilts are 100% cotton, the comforters are 100% down and the pillows are a down and feather mix.
The kitchen table is set for four with views of the New London Harbor Lighthouse. The granite kitchen island has four stools.
The main living space is furnished with a La-Z-Boy queen size sleeper sofa with an air dream mattress, two cushion chairs and a long table and a chair and lamp for your convenience or business needs. Dish Network 120 package and Wi-Fi are all provided.
We have two ceiling fans; one in the main living space and one in the bedroom, along with six windows for an ocean breeze in the summer. There is a Mitsubishi split unit for AC in the living room and bedroom if we have a more humid day.
For your convenience we have a full size washer & dryer along with a laundry basket and detergent on the first floor of the Carriage House. The washer & dryer are in a small room along with some of our personal storage.
Your apartment has its own private entrance with a keypad and is located above our detached two car garage.

The Neighborhood
We live in a residential neighborhood so please respect and enjoy the family atmosphere here.
We have miles of sidewalks right outside your door that run along the water. You can enjoy a walk, run or even stroll to one of our local restaurants, ice cream parlors and/or Ocean Beach Park which all are within a 1.5 mile walk for the adventurous. Our own private beach is just across the street to be enjoyed year round.
New London is proud to be home to the Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, Mitchell College, Ocean Beach Park and Electric Boat.
Mystic is a 20 minute drive where you can visit the Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, the Village and of course one of a kind shopping in Downtown Mystic.
For some Casino fun we have the Mohegan Sun, a 25 minute drive, and Foxwoods, a 45 minute drive, both nearby.
Drive to Boston or New York in 2 hours without traffic or jump on Amtrak in New London and enjoy the ride.
Getting Around
We live in a residential area so a car is the easiest way to enjoy all of the sites within an hour of our home.
If you bring your bicycles you will enjoy miles of sidewalks along the shore.
Amtrak Train service is located in downtown New London and is a great way to access Boston and New York.

Visited in May 2024 - this is a wonderful, clean, stay in a second-floor carriage house, literally a stone's throw from a private sandy beach.
Fully stocked kitchen, laundry, with convenient beach chairs and umbrellas, toys for the kids.
WiFi is spotty, but who wants to do work when the beach is across the street?!?

The owner gone had thought of everything right down to the fact that you may actually need saran wrap or aluminum in the kitchen to having all of the needs for the bath. There is so much to do in southeast Connecticut between New London, Foxwoods, Mystic, Niantic, Madison, etc. And always great to come “home” in the evening to this VRBO. Second consecutive September stay and certainly won’t be the last. Dawn has truly earned the “super host” title!

I cannot imagine a nicer or more luxurious place to stay! The house is embellished with top of the line furniture, bedding, appliances, lighting, flooring and is so well thought out and decorated. It is not like going to a beach house, but rather like going to a luxurious, private retreat! And yet it is right across the street from a beautiful private beach! We could have stayed here indefinitely if our obligations didn’t drag us home. The cool ocean breeze passed through the open windows each night (although it is has top-of-the-line air conditioning). The quietness along with the soothing sounds of crickets and the waves lapping the beach had us sleeping like logs and waking up refreshed. The bedding and the linens are clean, crisp and luxuriously soft. The back yard provides privacy and is a great place to sip some wine while sitting near the gorgeous weeping willow tree. We are thankful to our hosts, who thought of every little detail, for a wonderful time. If you have a chance to go to the Carriage House, do not pass it up. It was an incredible experience!!

This was our 3rd time staying at this wonderful place. Recent renovations were very nice. We had a fantastic time as usual! One of our favorite things to do is sit next to the windows that look out at the ocean, and feel the wonderful breeze. We tried On the Waterfront for the first time and really loved it! Lighthouse Point Carriage House has great views of the private sandy beach across the street. I packed water shoes as some Connecticut beaches are rocky, but didn't need them. The neighborhood is walkable and there is plenty to do in the area, from Mystic Seaport to a water cruise.

We enjoyed our stay at this spacious, updated, well-appointed one bedroom apartment. It is located two house back from the beach. There is a water view of the Fishers Island Sound from the living room. The owner was very responsive and professional in dealing with an unexpected issue. We would heartily recommend this property.

This is our second visit to the Carriage House and it was even lovelier than our first. Dawn and Tim have made some wonderful changes: the bathroom was redone (and the shower better than ever), the appliances in the kitchen are new, and the carpeting has been replaced by a rattan area rug that makes the apartment seem more summery. The view from the windows is as mesmerizing, as always, and the bed and seating are extremely comfortable. We saw a little more of Dawn on this visit, and she is a warm and responsive host.
This is a great place to visit if you like long walks near the ocean. We would particularly suggest Ocean Beach Park, the Niantic Beach boardwalk and Harkness State Park. The last blew us away when we first saw it. There are also two terrific small museums: the Florence Griswold Museum, in old Lyme and a Lyman Allyn Museum in New London. It’s an easy drive from here to lots of other interesting places on the coast. If you’re feeling lazy, it’s wonderful to sit and read in the apartment and enjoy the ever-changing view. We’ll be back!

If their were a downside to the Carriage House, it would be the view which could lull you into a state of inactivity just watching the weather change over the water and the ferries' progress in and out of New London harbor. Once you stir yourself, though, there is plenty to do within a brisk walk or a few minutes drive.
The apartment is nicely furnished and spotless with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable seating, The bedroom was cozy and the bed was very comfortable, too.
Dawn and Tim were amazing hosts who seem dedicated to make sure you have a wonderful stay. They succeeded, and we can't wait to return.

My wife and I have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties over our 6+ years of dealing with VRBO. Most host are Good. Few are Great. Dawn and Tim are GREAT! They put the "finishing touches" on your stay with them that most others would either miss, or perhaps just not care about.
Everything they've put in the apartment, are "high end" products. It's as if we were members of their family. Dawn even put Lindt Chocolates on our dresser, and Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookies in a basket in the kitchen for our enjoyment (which we did indeed enjoy). God made some people in life specifically to be hostesses, and Dawn is a Perfect Hostess.
My wife and I took a 24 day New England vacation during September to celebrate her retirement. We stayed 4 nights in 6 different states at 6 different locations. Dawn and Tim were our last stop. By the time we got there, we were tired! What a Blessing their apartment was for pure relaxation. I could have sat and watched the ships come in and go out of the harbor all day long. Simply put, our stay with Dawn and Tim was PERFECTION! Thanks again for a Wonderful stay.
