The peaceful surroundings and multiple outdoor entertainment spaces made it an ideal place for our family reunion and birthday party.
There were multiple levels and stairways inside that made it a little difficult to navigate for older people in the party but at the same time gave privacy to the different family groups when needed.

This place is great. We had a large group & everyone was accomodated. A little older place than we have had in the past but we made excellent memories. The pool inside was a big hit. We were a little worried about getting to come after Hurricane Beryl but they took care of the house & large yard area before we arrived.. owners were super quick to answer any questions. Great place for relaxation & enjoy time away from life’s busyness.

This property was a big disappointment. Not professionally cleaned or maintained. We had dead bugs in several rooms, dead bugs in some beds, nails sticking out of the front stairs(tripping hazard), two people put their foot through rotted dock boards. The pool room is a joke, the pool table and ping pong table are so old they were unusable. Shaky toilet with smells coming from it. The master bath tub/shower was very dangerous to get into and out of. The listing doesn’t state how many stairs are in the property but it was very dangerous for small children.

I believe the property used to be beautiful and upkept. I have pictures of the property. The property was not safe to stay. We never even stayed long enough for the rest of our people to arrive. Has to find another place for over these men to.retreat.
To be clear no one stayed there
This place is definitely what was advertised... I have picture for.

Excellent property with many extras, indoor pool, Pickle Ball, boat launch ramp, etc. It could use a maintenance up date. Pool, plumbing, light bulbs out, Bees nest, and a good house cleaning.

2nd year having my company Christmas party at this location. Everyone enjoyed this beautiful home on the lake. Bruce is a wonderful host and made sure we had everything needed to ensure our stay was a memorable experience.
Thank you Bruce!

Everything was great and exactly as described. We had 20 kids and adults and everyone had a great time. Will definitely stay at this property again.

We stayed at this property with a group of friends and young children. This property has a lot of “pros”:
-Beautiful location- the view off of the deck was lovely
-Secluded from general traffic and public
-Lots of bedroom options with adequate bathrooms; can sleep a large group comfortably
-Indoor pool for hot summer days
Unfortunately, there were also some issues that made us not want to return with our small children:
-Numerous safety hazards inside and out- my toddler found a bunch of wood screws in the foyer, space of balusters could easily fit a child’s whole body, areas that should have safety railings without them, cleaning supplies and tools left scattered about the home inside and out, exposed wires, etc. etc.
-There was no lock on the front door- check in was easy because of this; all you do is open the door! Unfortunately, that means anyone could also do that!
-There is a dog that wanders around the property- not in the listing.
-While not listed in the listing when we booked, the owner lives a stone’s throw from the property, and you will see him a LOT. He came into the pool house while we were swimming and was often seen on the house’s deck and on the grounds directly around the house. It was very off putting.
-The house was very dusty, had plenty of cobwebs, and we had to scrub the kitchen upon arrival.
Normally, when I see only a handful of bad reviews, I assume the bad ones are from people who are unrealistic- but in this case, I was wrong!

Our group of 17 had a fantastic stay! There are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy volleyball, fishing, kayaking, swimming, board games, billiards. There is also a fire pit and grill for guests to use. The house was clean and the host was friendly and readily available.

the location and property are nice but not very well maintained, lots of insects, spider webs, we had a mouse in the kitchen, the second refrigerator didn't cool properly, we had to ask for the pool to be cleaned and one room we didn't stay in due to bugs in the bed and room. this could be a great property if updated and maintained properly, the owners live next door and it is not ideal. we had to ask for the BBQ pit to be connected with proprane, alot of things that should have been done BEFORE we arrived were not and for high price /night I would have expected a lot better property and cleaner. Also we had no hot water and we were short on towels. I can't emphasize how bad the insects were on the patio which caused us not to be able to enjoy the beautiful view and cigarette butts were left out.

Good time. Loved the pool, lake, pool table, rooms and bathrooms. A TV in main family room would have been great. Not wheelchair accessible.

Loved the whole experience!!!!!!
We are a large family and this house gave us the sleeping space we needed. And lots of hanging out and visiting area both inside and outside.
The on site boat ramp and dock were fantastic. Then after getting off the lake having the option for the kiddos to swim in the pool out of the sun was the best!!!
Yes, the owners live on property but they were not invasive in anyway and were very helpful and responsive with any questions we had.
Thank you for all the great memories my family now has!!!

We enjoyed our stay on this "just the right size" home. The property backs up to Lake Conroe. The owners provided several kayaks, which were fun to paddle in the lake. There is a good size deck at the edge of the lake where we could
watch our "kayakers" play.
There is an outside volleyball court set up for our athletes.
On the upper level of the house there is another large deck for weddings or other events. What a lovely setting. We enjoyed drinking coffee and experiencing the morning unfold on the lake in the mornings.

Owners were very sweet and accommodating. They addressed any questions immediately and though live on property they were far from invasive. Property is amazing place to relax and get away. Definitely would stay there again. Thank you.

Overall we enjoyed our time here and really liked the location on the lake and the amount of space we had outside. The house was mostly clean and picked up but a few bathrooms did smell musty. The owner was very quick with communications through the VRBO App, but he and his wife do live on the property and we saw them a few times during our stay.

My wife and I booked our family vacation for 6 nights over Labor Day weekend 2023 on March 31, 2023. We have 7 children and their spouses and a 6-month-old grandchild, so we where excited about the space, number of bedrooms and baths and that the property was on the water. Last minute, a few days before Easter weekend we decide to celebrate our anniversary and book the same property we booked for a family vacation scheduled over Labor Day weekend. We could have stayed in a property that accommodate only 2 of us but thought this would be a great opportunity to see the place and get the lay of the land before our family trip. Thank goodness we did.
We arrived at 4:00 pm on Friday. As we drove up to the house, we saw several cars on the circular driveway in front of a house adjacent to the rental property (This is where the property owner lives). This house was littered with trash, old furniture, and appliances (an eyesore to say the least). I was met by the property owner that was still getting the place ready. It was uncomfortable as we move our luggage in as he and his wife were still working. Example, we had to make a few trips in and out of the house and on one of the trips back in we notice several garbage bags that had not been there before, meaning that they entered the house after we had already checked in. The owner confirmed that he did live in the eyesore house and his son lives in an apartment over the pool house connected to the living quarters of the rental.
As we unpacked, we noticed that even though the place was put together on the inside it just didn’t appear to be clean. My assumption was confirmed when the owner said he did not have cleaning service but that he, his wife, and son did all the cleaning. This is an 8 bedroom, 16 bed, 5 full bathroom property, you do the math.
We entered the connecting pool as where his wife was still cleaning. The roof was leaking water onto a pool table that was uncovered which already appeared to have mold.
After dinner that night we noticed that there was a lack of hot water as we were washing dishes. The next morning as we were going to take a shower there was no hot water. I messaged the owner and he promptly responded that he would investigate it. An hour later he came to the house and confirmed that his propane tank was empty and the meter on the tank must be broken because if reflected that there was ample gas. He apologized and said this has

Everything was just perfect. The house was amazing. It was a little further out then we normally go but well worth it. Owner was on property and took care of anything we needed immediately!

The place is like the pictures. Really cool and unique spot. I went with 18 other friends for a weekend getaway in the woods and the place offered a lot of amenities and space for a great weekend. I read a lot of the reviews prior to booking and that helped in preparedness in what to bring/expect. The place does have lots of stairs. Wasn’t a issue for us. The stove and 2 gas grills/1 charcoal grill were great to cook steaks. We knew to bring charcoal. The place has 2 fridges, but I would only expect 1 to be working semi well. Takes forever to cool to the point you think they’re broke. Good thing we had several coolers so we didn’t have to open the fridges all the time cause it would have been more of an issue. Bedding and spaciousness of the house was great. Everyone was comfortable with our guests indoors. Internet here was basically nonexistent. Had to use phone service for any computers. No matter how you plug and unplug the router, still was poor signal or couldn’t connect devices. The pool space was awesome. One of a kind at a place like this. The back patio was huge, we enjoyed the fire pit, we tossed around the football and frisbee with plenty grass space (had several ant piles around), played spike ball, and took the kayaks out on the lake. Bruce stays nearby along with a couple other smaller properties on site. Both weren’t an issue. Bruce was helpful. Before, after and during, the booking. We would book again so you should book!

We rented this property so we could get together with our extended family. Mosr of them live in Texas. The pool was great. Big enough for all 12 kids ages ranging for 4-24. We were there in August and the A/C worked great despite the above 100 degree temps outside. Plenty of space for people to get together as well as separate into smaller groups. Our family members got there first and helped with the cleanup from the previous occupants who had left a bit of a mess. By the time we got there everything looked great.

I must say, I hardly give reviews, but this is a MUST! This house was not only beautiful inside and out, but it ACTUALLY accommodated all of my children and their families. (27 humans, in case you're wondering !) The rooms were clean, and bathrooms were awesome! Two spa tubs were a nice surprise. The indoor pool hit the spot in this Texas heat, and the nights were a sight to see from the spacious patio overlooking the lake. Even the small children were impressed with the game selection the had. There is not enough space to express the happiness I felt with my family spending it here at Serenity Cove

Big House with a lot to do!
If you're looking for a place that fits a lot of people and has many fun things for the young ones to do, this is a great option. It is a bit dated and needs some updating, but that is to be expected in an older property. There are alot of stairs between all the different living areas and kitchen, so if anyone in your family can't walk the stairs this may be a difficult place to stay. It is lake front so you should expect bugs and some wildlife in the area, but nothing too overwhelming. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the hosts were on site to handle any issues that came up.

Family Fun
Our family enjoyed our stay. We had plenty of room for our 20+ family. Kids enjoyed the indoor pool when we were not on the lake. Family played pool, sang karaoke, and enjoyed kayaking and fishing. Bruce was a great host. House was clean and comfortable. Hope to return.

BEWARE. NOT AS ADVERTISED. PICTURES ARE OLD AND CURRENT CONDITIONS ARE HORRIBLE.
HOPE YOU ARE OK WITH SPIDER INFESTATION AND LONG GRASS AND BROKEN DOWN DOCK AND A/C THAT DOSENT COOL AND BBQ PITS ARE NOT ANYTHING YOU WOULD COOK ON. ALSO IT EAS SO MUSTY/MOLDY THE CHEAP AIR FRESHER WAS SO BAD WE HAD TO OPEN ALL DOORS TO TRY TO AIR OUT THE PLACE.
PICTURES ARE OLD WHEN THE PLACE WAS NICE. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

Family Time Always Good this place had good and bad features
To start with, Bruce and Cheryl were good hosts but it’s obvious this property needs more than 2 people to maintain and clean it! The outside area is the best of the property with the lake access and the kayaks along with a nice dock. The upper deck is in decent shape where we also spent a lot of time. Now, for the house, it’s a different story. The house needs a cleaning that hasn’t been done in years or if it’s been cleaned it’s lacking severely. There are cobwebs, spiders and cockroaches everywhere but especially in the bottom bedrooms and bathroom. The kitchen cupboards and drawers were quite dirty with dust, dirt, and bugs. We are not looking for luxurious in any respect but clean is required. A lot of modifications in bathrooms etc made them a bit strange and definitely outdated. The pool was fine and the family enjoyed it but again there is unique rigging going on with a swamp cooler system. The pool tables and ping pong was fine but could use new paddles and pool cues. The cost of this place is too expensive for what you stay in. Also Beware there is a NO REFUND policy from the minute you book! I had to pay for guests that didn’t couldn’t make it but if I’d of had more I would have had to pay more so it only works in one direction to their advantage. So if you’re not sure how many are coming go lower than adjust up if needed otherwise you lose! Also the owners live right there beside you so they are walking around as you’re there! Some family members thought this a bit strange and awkward but if we needed something we were able to get with Bruce right away.

Fun for the whole family
We spent my dad's 70th birthday weekend here. There was something fun to do for everyone in the family, from the 6 year old to the 70 year old. The owner was very accommodating with some last minute changes and was there to answer all our questions and help in anything we needed. What I liked best is that the property is in a corner of the lake, is really quiet, and you feel like you're the only person at the lake. The kitchen looks small but we were able to prepare 2 meals a day for 25 people with no hiccups. I highly recommend this place for large parties.

The Owners were really nice, but the place needs some work...3.5 Rating - would return if updated
My family and I chose to stay here for Christmas. The house is HUGE and has plenty of bed rooms to support us. They put up a Christmas tree for us, and it was nice to have an indoor pool and firepit. That's about the only positives I have. One of my biggest disappointments is that the house wasn't as secluded as you are lead to believe by the pictures. The owner's house is VERY close to the property's front door and appears to be well lived in, and I guess there were people renting out the tree houses near by, so they were using the canoes and the volleyball courts and just super close to the house. This of course is FINE - I just wasn't expecting to see another soul around because it looked like we were going to be all on our own - updating the property post to warn potential tenants that other people might be around would be a good idea. Don't get me wrong, we are very low maintenance and can bond just about anywhere, but this house has alot of work that needs to be done to it. There are alot of bugs and spiderwebs inside the house. Yes - this place is in the country, so we expect bugs, but I didn't expect to see spiderwebs, dead spiders and dust on things. I saw someone write in another review that the owners should hire a cleaning company to tackle this house, and I absolutely agree. There are two hot tubs that you can see in the pictures - neither of those seemed to work. The heated pool that we paid extra for only seemed to be warm for 3ish out of 7 days, the volleyball court was busted when we got there (but later fixed). The A/C in the Master Bedroom went out on the 2nd day of us being there (not sure we actually tried to turn it on on the first day since it was colder outside). The owner said he would send someone to come fix it. That did not happen, nor did we get any kind of communication about it at all - thank goodness for floor fans! Overall, communication was lacking - Usually when I rent a property, I communicate with the owners via text to have quick exchanges if I need something. The only way I communicated with this owner (when they weren't walking around the property) was via email - and the response times were not the best (still waiting to hear back from them). To be fair, I didn't ASK for a number, but I would recommend giving out a number for the future. I know this all sounds negative, but I really wanted to offer suggestions for how to improve the experience people have here, because there's so much potential here.

Family Thanksgiving gathering
This house had more than enough bedrooms for 15 of us. The kitchen was adequately stocked for the many meals we prepared in three days. There was plenty of room to sit and talk inside, outside and around the fire pit. The kids and adults all enjoyed the pool table, the indoor swimming pool and the kayaks!

We had a wonderful time at this home. We really enjoyed the large deck, boat launch and multi level home.

Lovely Big House
Overall, great gathering place. There were a few minor issues that the owner, when contacted, acted to mitigate immediately. Our large family enjoyed our time at this lovely location. The only recommendation we have is that the owner should hire a housekeeper and a groundskeeper. Upon discussion with him, we found out it is just him and his wife who care for the place and prep for the next visitors. This is a huge load. Get some help. Thanks.

LOVED IT!
Large family group. We were 24 people ranging from 3yrs old to teens to 65 yrs old. The house had plenty of space for everyone! All the teens and kids loved the outdoor space and there were a lot of activities going on at the same time. From the game room to swimming in the pool to just relaxing under a tree next to the lake! AWESOME EXPERIENCE!

Huge, secluded getaway for the family
Multiple levels, many bedrooms, two large gathering places, large kitchen, huge deck, very nice indoor pool with a deep end, access to lake on secluded cove with dock, large mature pecan trees shading the house and deck, just a mile or so off I-45, great air conditioning, many bathrooms, pool table, ping pong table, game table, kayaks, gas grills, etc. This place was fantastic for our large family. Owner lives on property but very separate from the rental house and only saw him once; he was extremely helpful. Loved it, would go back again!

Very fun place to stay
This property would be ideal for a big party. Lots of space, indoor & out, huge desk, indoor pool, volleyball, canoeing & fishing. Just a huge amount of fun to be had. The property has some upkeep issues so it’s not as sparkling as the photos suggest. Nonetheless, our kids loved the pool, playing billiards, and sitting out by the fire pit. Very enjoyable. The town of Willis is decent sized so restaurants, grocery, and marina all are close.

Pictures are deceiving
When we got there around 4:30, they were still “cleaning”. The owner lives in the little house right on the property, and his son lives in an apartment above the swimming pool. They will walk around the property like creepers. The linen on the beds had dead bugs in between the comforter and sheets in the master bedroom. The beds themselves didn’t have protectors on them and there were pee stains all over each bed! The property had multiple hornet nests, cob webs and just not well taken care of for the amount of money you will be spending a night there. Also the refrigerators (one works but the shelving in it is all broke and the other one doesn’t get cold, but it’s still in the kitchen). The only good thing was the access to the lake and the amount of rooms.

Relaxing lake-side house
Our party of 12, including 2 kids under 10, had a relaxing time at this HUGE house! We had a great time in the indoor pool, fishing off the dock, grilling on the deck, and hanging in the spacious indoor places. This is a rustic setting, but with lots of amenities that are needed in an AirBnb, including lots of kitchen supplies and linens! There was a minor issue with a bedroom's AC, and the owners were very responsive! They were great to deal with.

80th birthday celebration
This was actually the second time we stayed at Serenity Cove Resort. This occasion was for my Mother’s 80th birthday celebration and we were very pleased with the accommodations. Both Bruce and his wife were helpful with any questions or concerns we may have had. A total of 18 adults and 6 children had no problem with sleeping, eating or entertainment for the weekend. The view of the lake was nice and an added bonus were 2 bald eagles that nest in plain view. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a group wanting a common area that they can spend time together.

Great venue for large parties
Had a great time with friends and family over the weekend. Was great talking to Mr. Peck and there is ample room and space for multiple guests to enjoy!
