About this house rental

Second Wind cottage is a real home away from often comment that staying here is like visiting friends.

Great care is taken by the owners to ensure the comfort of every guest. The cottage is perfect for a couple, or a couple with a small child.

It has an open, airy floor plan with lots of windows and two sliding glass doors leading to decks that overlook the canal, a very well-equipped kitchen, and many small touches that help make your stay more pleasurable. We pride ourselves on offering a clean, comfortable, and well maintained cottage.

If you've never been to Ocracoke, you're in for a treat. It's one of the most unique places many will have the chance to visit. With 13 miles of pristine beach, it's no wonder it's been voted in the top ten beaches year after year. It's not hard to fall in love with the easy going, laid back lifestyle.

If you're in the mood to stay busy, there's lots to do from inshore and offshore fishing with native guides, biking, raking your own clams, kayaking and parasailing to shopping and trying one of the many great restaurants on the island.

If you're more into relaxing, kick back on the porch in one of our locally made Adirondack chairs and watch egrets, ducks and otters off the back deck, or chill out with a book or movie from the house.

If you have been here before, there's always a few new places to check out and a chance to rediscover why you came to Ocracoke in the first place.

Second Wind is a warm, welcoming cottage that seems to embrace you as soon as you walk in the door. It has a wonderful layout and so many special touches (the more you look the more of those touches you appreciate). It is a perfect reflection of the flavor and history of Ocracoke. Ocracoke itself is a hidden gem with beautiful beaches, a Village that is filled with unique and special treasures and a history that is captivating - there is more to explore here than you imagine.. Definitely hope to make this an annual trip. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage, Steph and Larry!

My husband and I stayed at Stephanie’s property for our honeymoon in March! It was perfect! Great size, super convenient to everything. Great view on the water! And Stephanie was so kind, even leaving us a little gift :) thanks so much! We will definitely stay again!

The house was even better than described. Very relaxing and had everything we needed. Host was very responsive and communicated with us when bad weather was forcasted. We look forward to coming back as this was our first visit to Ocracoke. Thanks for a great trip to kick off our retirement years!

This sweet place was the perfect find for our long weekend away! It’s nicely tucked away from the busier streets and a good distance for us to get some good miles in on our bikes. However, the island is much longer on a bike than it seems in a car! Thx for the stay☺️

It was an anniversary trip for me and my husband. The house was perfect for the two of us. Nice deck overlooking the canal, well stocked kitchen and just overall a great house.

The property was amazing. There wasnt an ocean view but the peace and tranquility more than made up for that. A boat dock was just a few steps away and you could be on open water in minutes. Property is well kept and management is quick to respond!! I would highly recommend to couples looking for a nice little getaway.

Really loved this cute comfortable cottage along a canal. We really loved the decor and the homey feel of it. It had a very well-equipped kitchen perfect for preparing our Thanksgiving dinner. The large bedroom was perfect with sliding glass doors leading out to the upper deck. The bed was extremely comfortable, which is such a plus when on a vacation. Thank you!

Secondwind was an amazing home to stay in. Everything was very clean, the view of the canal is beautiful. We rented a golf cart so getting around the island was a breeze. The communication with Stephanie was excellent.

Stephanie was pro-active and accessible (via text). Access was easy - we got in late and went straight to the beach so punching in the code and "moving in" close to midnight worked out well! The house is spacious and was in great shape! The master bedroom feels enormous! Loved the back porch and enjoyed sipping coffee while my teen slept in. Internet access was fast and easy and we were able to cast to the roku tv with no problems. I was surprised and glad to find the cleaning station outside (under the house) and made good use of it. Would absolutely stay here again - thanks for a great weekend!

If you would like a spotless, light-filled, and charming place to rest, look no further. The kitchen is better equipped than my own, the decor is very soothing, and being allergic to chemical fragrances, I especially appreciated that the cottage and linens seem to be cleansed with less-harsh, hypoallergenic products. The spot is tucked away at the canals (though there are a pretty consistent stream of bicyclers going by to check out the scenery, too!) and only about a mile away from the main part of the village. It was obvious that the owner was very thoughtful -- not just in furnishing the property, but in her communication and desire for her guests to have a good experience. The guestbook reveals repeat visitors galore -- for good reason!

Stephanie was wonderful to deal with. My husband rented this very last minute for my birthday as a surprise. He's never in charge of booking anything when we travel, so he was clueless of the process. Stephanie did whatever he needed to help it go smoothly. We were even able to squeeze in a extra night, with very little effort. If we needed anything, Stephanie was always a text away. The house is perfect for a couples getaway. It was clean, cozy, and felt like home. I was amazed at all the little extras Stephanie has thought to stock in the home if you need it. King size bed upstairs was very comfortable, and the view from the balcony is wonderful. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room were spotless, and stocked with things you may forget to bring. There is great kayak or paddle board access directly from the house. There are chairs and lights underneath the house if you wanted to play corn hole, or grill etc. We had a great time taking walks on the beach and seeing to local sites. Nothing is far from the house, so it's a great location. It truly felt like we got a "Second Wind" to go home and conquer life in this crazy world until we can come back to the island paradise of Ocracoke again. Thanks Stephanie
