About this farm stay rental
If you are looking for a unique place to stay, come stay at Springhouse 1803. The restoration is in the final phases and this beautiful home is ready for life again after sitting empty for 20+ years.
SUMMER 2024 - We are currently scraping, power washing, sanding the exterior of the house between guests in preparation for a new paint job. So, the house might be in various stages of painting. Late summer/fall 2024 the house will also be getting a new roof and chimney repaired. If you're booked during this work you will have the option to cancel, reschedule, or receive a discount if you choose to stay.
NOVEMBER 2024-MARCH 2025 - 28 day minimum booking required. If over 28 days, a separate lease agreement will be required.
IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES, THIS IS NOT THE HOUSE FOR YOU. This is a historic colonial house with tight steep stairs and some low doorways and ceilings. Both sets of steps have a corkscrew turn in them. Not recommended for toddlers/young children due to steep steps. Older children should be able to navigate the steps. We are located just outside the city limits but you would never know the city was right around the corner with the solitude of the house. Come sit on the porch and watch the birds and listen to the trickling of water. Sit in the spring room and relax and watch the water bubbling out of the ground. (closed in winter) NOT A PARTY HOUSE, OWNER IS ON SITE
If the house is ready, you can check in at 3pm, please contact me if you wish to check in before 4pm.
If you see blocked days at the beginning and end of a block, you can reach out to confirm if the house is available if you want one of those days. It might be available if the cleaning has already been done.

We only needed to spend the night but will definitely rent again for a long weekend. Beautiful, rustic, comfy&cozy, plenty of towels, everything you need with an awesome host! A+++ for The Farmhouse

Our stay at the Springhouse was a short but pleasant one. Our children loved the house and grounds. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

The 1803 Springhouse and the owner were both delightful. We especially enjoyed her puppies and the visits from the kettle of vultures! The home is so welcoming - couldn't ask for a better location - feels like you are in the country but you are minutes from downtown, restaurants, etc. If you enjoy history, you will adore this home! We will definitely return for future visits!

Very quaint, cozy and quiet. Close to everything but tucked just far enough back that you don’t hear noise. The personalized touches were amazing. Owner was very nice. We were able to grill dinner and enjoy a fire pit. The renovations successfully maintain the historic features but include modern conveniences.

It was great staying in a historic property. The area was quiet and peaceful for us. It was exactly what we were looking for. The host was great; we left a jacket at the house, and we were able to coordinate picking it up the following weekend. I much appreciated it.

Beautiful historic home !!! Restoration is complete but doesn't retract from it's charm. Beds were very comfortable. kitchen and bathroom are new and well done. living room is georgeous. Very well appointed. Very cozy and warm. The spring under the house was my favorite part. spring water literally bubbling up gently from the ground. Wee creek emerges from the house into Antietem creek. GREAT value.
It's a gem.
Hope I get back there soon...

The property was unique and well maintained. It is situated nicely near many attractions, restaurants and shopping. The perfect setting for a weekend away. The property manager had a list of tips at the property, and also responded quickly to questions. We loved our stay, especially the dogs. 😀

Oh my goodness. Our family had such a good time while in town for a graduation. The SpringHouse 1803 was a perfect hub as it was centrally located to all the events we attended as well as site seeing.
Excellent communication by the owners. SpringHouse 1803 was equipped with everything we needed. Lots of towels and linen for the beds. Beds were very comfy. It was nice to have a full size refrigerator for food. Well equipped kitchen.
Extra treat was the history of the home and area.

What a cozy house. We enjoyed curling up on the sofas and having our long chats. The kitchen supplied all of out needs. The stairs were an adventure but the beds were super comfortable. Thank you Rorke for providing a lovely house for our Girl's weekend.

Three of my friends and I stayed here for our annual bookcation where we go and read and eat for a weekend. It was perfect- an easy and quick drive from DC to give us more time to read and relax. We loved that we felt like we were tucked in the woods but great food was less than 5 minutes away. We were a little worried it would be cold (January in a very old house…) but it was warm and cozy and there lots of blankets to get particularly snuggly. The house was very well stocked and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again for something similar!

We really enjoyed staying at the springhouse! The living area was really cozy on a cold winter's night, with couches and blankets aplenty. The kitchen was well equiped and had everything we needed. And we loved having the opportunity to stay in such a unique, historical home. Thanks for hosting us!

Wish we'd had more time to explore this genuinely different, special place—a living piece of history. All the particulars were easy and I recommend highly.

Unique historic retreat, remote, but right around the corner from everything! Cozy, comfortable and relaxing. Well equipped with everything you need and the most perfectly friendly and accommodating owner! You need to take this opportunity to visit this historic property and meet the owner and her doggos.

The house was like a throw back in time. It had the comforts of the present with the aesthetics of the past. The stairs leading to the bedrooms are tricky to navigate, but go with the total atmosphere of the home. The temperature was chilly when we were there, but I bet the spring room and the spring itself would be wonderful to sit and enjoy in warmer temperatures. We had fun tossing balls for the owners dogs, who are adorable and friendly,

A gem of a place that made our weekend getaway!

We enjoyed our stay! The 1803 farmhouse had charm and a homey atmosphere. It suited our needs for 2 single night stays coming and going on a longer trip. A small hindrance was that I missed the blending of hot and cold water through a single faucet in the bathroom sink. Despite this quirk, I'd look forward to a visit again sometime.

This property was all we expected and more. We liked the unique, historical nature of the springhouse. The entire property was so clean and welcoming. This was a great family getaway. We appreciated all the amenities provided and the extra touches (like Hershey kisses, water, and tea). Thank you, and we hope to return again!

My husband loved having coffee by the spring each day. I recently had knee surgery and overestimated my ability to climb the steep stairs, which was completely my own vanity, as the listing clearly warns they can be difficult. I loved all the brochures for stuff to do and restaurants. We loved the game cabinet.

We had so much nearby family business to take care of last week and this lovely old home was perfectly furnished to support all our objectives. All the amenities worked very well (internet, appliances, etc) and the bedrooms were as comfy as quaint. When we had a break, we would just sit outside and soak up nature: giant trees, wildlife, gentle spring stream. The owners were very handy but gave us all our space. We will be back!!
