Welcome to Shift Vacation Rentals Mississippi District location! We have a stunning urban oasis; a few minutes walk from the fun and trendy N Mississippi District. This neighborhood has become one of the hippest places to shop, dine and drink in Portland. The street is lined with chic foodie restaurants, live music venues, and a bevy of bars, boutiques and brewpubs. Colorful buildings line the main thoroughfare of Mississippi, while historic and charming residential neighborhoods surround the area.
This brand new modern home will be beyond your expectations. Flooded with light and handmade touches this house is ideal for large groups. The house was built as a vacation rental and set up perfectly for people to gather and relax in. As you enter a wall of windows and warm cedar wood surround draws you in. The large open floor plan captures the kitchen, living room and dining room filled with artistic designer touches. Everything you need from a coffee grinder and maker, to cookie sheets and blenders are all provided for you.
We are thrilled to have the main floor as ADA (those with wheelchairs, walkers, crutches or impaired mobility will be able to get around). There are no steps to enter the house, or anywhere else on the main level. The bathroom has grab bars at the toilet and shower, and there is a curb-less shower entry.
Upstairs opens to a family room, with cool hanging hammock chairs, a second TV, and cozy couch. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs. 3 with queen beds and one with a double down/twin above bunk bed. There are also 2 tiled bathrooms; one with a bathtub, the other with a walk in shower. A balcony finishes the area off, the perfect place to enjoy a beer, sneak away for an intimate conversation, while people watching from the rocking chairs.
Rear Break has a private paved dining area that is super romantic with large table, benches, and plantings. The side yard, houses the lounge with outdoor grill, that space is shared with Front Break. So who knows, you could meet your future partner there!?!
There is a parking spot on site for your car, and plenty of free street parking should you need more.
You need more houses to book? On the same lot we have front break a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house.
Also in the Alberta Arts District we have a duplex. High Gear, the upper half is 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. While Low Gear has 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms.
We are fully permitted and compliant with the City of Portland. Permit number #91818.

Great location and quiet neighborhood. Nice amount of space inside and outside for visiting with family.

My college girlfriends stayed at this lovely place for a long weekend. Anything we wanted or needed was at our fingertips - from sundries to adventures. The house is on a minorly busy street but you don't even notice noise or traffic. There are lots of shops, restaurants, and interesting sites nearby. The outdoor areas are spacious yet cozy. We needed to contact the owner with a couple of questions which were addressed with speed, efficiency, and personality. We would 100% stay here again if we hit Portland again!

This stay was about a court date of great importance to us. This lovely place was comfortable, clean, spacious and perfect for our stay. We all loved it. Since it was a group of people whom some did not know each other at all and some barely knew each other and some were family it was an interesting mix of people. The spaciousness made it easy for all of us to have private conversations, group meals, a game of darts for a few of us, work on a jigsaw puzzle for others. And the bus was close enough for one individual to go to Powell books, which he desired to do even though no one else was able to cope with that kind of adventure.
It was instrumental in helping us all relax and enjoy those short moments of peace and ease. It was the perfect place for us and we are grateful. By the way, the court date turned out in our favor quickly and easily. So celebrating that event in your space was an added bonus. Thank You!

The property was so chic and beautiful. Well maintained and had so much to offer while in Portland. Our friends and I enjoyed our stay and the hosts were so prompt, polite and friendly. Definitely would stay again!

These houses are absolutely amazing! They are walking distance to ANYTHING you’d need! Coffee shops, restaurants, convenience stores with beer and wine, cute shops, bars, food trucks. The layout of the rear house is perfect for large gatherings and the host is incredibly responsive and accommodating. Would love to visit again!

Seven family members stayed in this house for a family weekend. The location was perfect... many coffee shops & restaurants within walking distance. The open kitchen, dining & living room area was perfect for a large group to hang out. All in all, a great weekend in Portland!

This property was above and beyond even the listing and pictures. I booked the space for a hang out space following a bachelorette shindig - multiple out of towners and everyone was happy! Thank you!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay! The home had plenty of space and amenities and the surrounding area had so much to do, see, and eat. I gave 3/5 stars for cleanliness because we did find somebody’s left behind positive COVID test in one of the rooms that didn’t belong to us, which was a little concerning. We did also notice more than one of the bathroom door locks were broken, which created a couple of awkward situations among the large group. Overall it didn’t put too much of a damper on our stay though!

This was our first trip to Portland and we decided to book a stay on this beautiful and updated property! We loved that it was a residential community with shops and restaurants just steps away. We had a groups of teens and it ideal for them to walk to the food trucks or shops on their own.
The house is as described - updated, well stocked, modern and great for group gatherings with board games, hula hoops and a dartboard outside. Our hosts Michelle and Klaus thought of everything. You can really tell they put a lot of love and care into the his house! We would definitely book another stay on one of their properties in the future as we appreciate the effort they put into making their guests stay a memorable one.

This place was fabulous for our family while getting ready for our sons wedding! We were all from out of town and coming from various states. It allowed us to have a bbq for our son on the Wednesday prior to, do wedding prep and simply enjoy each others company. We were outside most evenings playing cards, darts or simply talking! More family rented the second home and it was so much fun. Easy walking distance to coffee shop and we also spent time at Probst eating from the food trucks and enjoying cold German beer! Definitely would rent again!

Great location and space with all the amenities. Clean and spotless as well. Only tricky park is the on site parking spot which is a little hard to get in and out of if you have a car. Other than that no complaints!

What a fabulous place to stay for our four nights I. Portland after our four nights on the Oregon coast. The place itself was great for our two families traveling with adult children (so many faced of darts in the nifty courtyard yard space for example). There was a great amount of options to grab tasty food and drink with in walking distance also. The property was very well maintained and we really appreciated the book of recommendations from the hosts to guide our way. Even with Portland traffic our location made it relatively easy to get to all sorts of things we wanted to do.

We had a nice visit with family. This was a nicely updated house that made great use of space. The kids loved access to the dart board and we had plenty of space to visit. We appreciated the laundry access. Loved reading the book of the remodel history! Food trucks right next door and shops down the street! Only glitch is that someone graffiti'd the back of our van with a sharpie- luckily we were able to wipe it off with bleach wipe so no big deal.

We loved our Portland trip! This property was everything we hoped it would be. We had 8 adults and 3 kids, so it was a full house, but the house could accommodate all of us. We loved spending time in the very open and spacious main floor, and the kids loved the indoor swings upstairs. There is one big bedroom and bathroom downstairs and four bedrooms upstairs (one is a bunk bed room) with two bathrooms.
This house was great for kids! There was a high chair in the storage area and a pack and play in the bunk bed room, plus toys and games.
We also loved the area. There were so many coffee shops, restaurants, and bars, and it was a very short drive to downtown. Highly recommend this place!

We have stayed at many VRBOs over the years and this far exceeds anything we have ever been too. Lots of space to spread out. Clean. More kitchen amenities than I have at home! We’ll stocked basics pantry and even decorated with a small tree for Christmas!
Gave us an early check in, no problem.
Location was perfect to walking to parks restaurants and bars. Coffee shop and food trucks right next door. Fun yard with outside table and dart board area. Off street parking. Couldn’t ask for more,

Michelle was a fantastic host and the place surpassed our expectations. You can rent the front house as well for larger parties. Food trucks, a coffee shop and super good restaurant/bar (Victoria's) all right next door. Would definitely stay there again!!

This home slept four couples and 3 young children comfortably. The queen beds were comfortable and the linens were awesome. The pictures are accurate, and it has a great room downstairs and a large family room with TV upstairs. It also has a large dining area (both inside and out) so that we could all eat together. Although there is no yard the outdoor dining area and shared seating area made for pleasant outdoor time even for the kids - so long as they were supervised. The only things missing for very young children was a baby gate and unbreakable dishwater. As for the location it is on a somewhat busy street but the not uncomfortably busy - and not at nighttime. The house is next to food trucks and very near to great coffee. The Mississippi shopping and dining area is just 3 short blocks away. There is Pennisula Park less than a mile away and it has both a great playground and a beautiful rose garden. Downtown is only 10-20 minutes away (depending upon traffic) and the airport is 20 minutes away.

My group of friends and I really enjoyed staying here. The property has great outdoor spaces to relax around, and within walking distance of some coffee shops and great restaurants.

Great place
I'd stay here again. It was a very nice place. The convention center was 2.4 miles away and walkable, too. Bus stop on the street, right outside the house. Also, several nearby places to eat, including a food wagon area that was great.

Home was great. Just don’t venture too far away. Neighborhood was a little rough.

Destination Wedding Home While in Portland
This really felt like home while we were there in between wedding events. We were 8 in total with one of us being a 5 year old and one of us being a 79 year old. The space was great for all of us with the downstairs bedroom for my mom with limited mobility and plenty of space for my granddaughter to play upstairs. The fully stocked kitchen made it very easy for us to make breakfasts at home before our daily activities. It took a bit for us to figure out the A/C system but once we found the instructions in the house book and followed them the house was warm and cozy. The space was very clean and well organized. Michelle is very responsive with questions and even helped us find a space for our Welcome Cocktail through Peerspace. I would definitely recommend this home for your next vacation and would love to stay again.

We enjoyed our stay. It rained the whole time so we were not able to enjoy the outdoor area except for throwing darts when the rain was only a drizzle.

Nice spot close to the action
Everything was as expected. The living room(s) were great places for our team to collaborate and the quick walk to bars and restaurants was very convenient. Really hoping Portland improves from a trash/homeless perspective soon though.

Perfect!
We had an excellent stay at Rear Break. Our family of 4 was traveling with my sister and adult niece (total age range 16-55 years). The house was clean, had plenty of space for an urban rental, and was located in a quiet neighborhood that was easy walking distance to good coffee and food trucks. We loved the outdoor table in the evening to play cards and hang out. Overall a great stay!

Wonderful Spring Break Trip!
We loved our stay at the Rear Break house over our family spring break trip, while our friends stayed in the Front Break house. The house was charming, well-decorated, and clean. Both the indoor and outdoor space was great for our whole group to hang out. The kids loved the swing chairs upstairs! And the neighborhood was fantastic and so much fun! The owners were very kind and friendly, gifting us some delicious chocolate. Highly recommend this rental!

This was an awesome stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was well equipped and met our needs. We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend and it housed all 10 of us with room to spare. It was in a great neighborhood and walking distance to coffee and corner store. The owners were responsive to questions and quick to respond. I would highly recommend and would love to stay again.

The property was in a fantastic neighborhood with alot of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. The house was well-stocked and clean with plenty of amenities for all to enjoy. We particularly appreciated the outdoor area (when the weather was nice for sitting outside) and the large dining table for enjoying games and conversation. We also appreciated 3 bathrooms, especially important with several women in the group! And the washer and dryer were substantial and could accomodate large loads. We had an excellent stay and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a house with enough room for 9-12 people.I would stay here again if I have the opportunity,
