On historic Hanover Avenue and only a few blocks from The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; The Virginia Museum of History and Culture; The Science Museum; highly-rated restaurants plus small neighborhood markets and miles of trails for biking and hiking and the river for kayaking and its beautiful scenery.
Discover the convenience of living in a 3- bedroom (4th with your futon) historic home that is in the middle of everything cool which is the perfect setting situated in Richmond's Fan District filled with stately homes of grandeur. Whether on business or pleasure, visiting the Virginia Museum of Modern Art, or strolling to a neighborhood restaurant, this is the place to call home.
The professionally decorated home is tastefully graced with an array of southern charm. The newly renovated kitchen, with its gas Thermidor range, will be a pleasure for any foodie in your group: imported Italian tile back splash with accompanying serving table; fully equipped culinary utensils and supplies; four Parson chairs and glass, black wrought-iron table as an eating area. And step into the sun room --- small and intimate --- with its Palladium windows and floral love seat as the outdoors and sun come right in --- this is where you're going to rest after a day on the town. Or, if the weather is nice, relax in the wrought-iron chairs with comfortable seating on the private side deck surrounded by brick walls --- the feel of the Mediterranean. In the front parlor of the house is the formal living room with pocket doors leading to the dining room providing seating for ten or more around the banquet table. Brass chandeliers provide the ceiling lighting throughout the house.
Upstairs, the master bedroom and its adjoining bath is in the front of the house. You will enjoy the light coming in through the bay window as well as the renovated master bath with Carrera tile and Austrian crystal chandelier. There is also a second bedroom for guests with a double bed as well as a single bed in the third bedroom. The upstairs sun room makes a great reading room with its three sides of sunshine coming in and makes a great 4th bedroom if needed (guest providing futon.) As with the master bath, there is Carrera marble in the guest bath.
The Fan is a unique place to live. To name a few of the attractions: The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (one of the top ten art museums on the East Coast with a fine-dining restaurant and a casual cafe --- a MUST and only 8 walkable blocks away; Maymont (park/small zoo/nature museum/historic home to tour; bike and hiking trails); The Museum of History and Culture; Hollywood Cemetery (famous U.S. presidents' burial ground); Carytown ( a quaint area for shopping and lovely assortment of restaurants/ice cream/ coffee shops you'll love). A few miles away is another area of Richmond called Church Hilll where the UCI cyclists completed a grueling course of cobblestones for the Worlds 2015 Competition. St. John's Church is located there, famous for Patrick Henry's "give me liberty" speech.
Restaurants galore: Joe's Inn (only a few blocks away - Italian, inexpensive and the local watering hole with HUGE servings and great for breakfast with a to-go service; a new restaurant with vibes on Robinson called Uliveto; Kuba Kuba (obviously, Cuban cuisine about 6 blocks away and great coffee); several walkable restaurants on Broad Street such as Chez Max. Hop in the car and go to Stella's about a mile away (Greek cuisine and reservation recommended); downtown there is Julep's; in Church Hill there is The Roosevelt (southern cuisine) and a delicious bakery Sub Rosa; and in Scott's Addition there are many to choose from. Refer to the list I will send you on restaurants, museums, and places of interest in Richmond.
An easy walk five blocks away on Addision and Broad Streets for public bus access to downtown and MCV-VCUA, and a 10 minute drive to The University of Richmond and a fifteen minutes drive to Short Pump Mall.
Our home is clutter-free as the children are grown and live elsewhere. You will feel as if you are in a high-end hotel with all clothes and personal belongings removed from the bedroom closets and drawers. With the additional amenities of a professional kitchen, elegance throughout the house; and the best neighborhood in Richmond, this will be love at first sight.
We look forward to seeing you!

If you're looking for the quintessential "Fan" experience, look no further. Julie's home is perfectly situated pretty much in the center of the neighborhood, and it has everything you could possibly need or want. Pro-tip: hit up Joe's a couple of blocks away for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a night cap!

I truly enjoyed my visit! I lived in Richmond for several years, came back to visit friends and this was the perfect place to stay. The homeowners were very hospitable and the house was incredibly clean and well-maintained. The location was safe and easy access to the museum district, Carytown and Broad St. I look forward to visiting again soon!

We just spent 2 weeks at Julie's lovely Richmond home over Christmas. This house is (as described) located in the heart of The Fan residential district of Richmond. The neighborhood is steeped in historic and architectural beauty. Aside from it's convenient driving location to all activities in the city, just walking the neighborhood is a highlight of staying there as there are restaurants, museums, churches, and parks all within a few minutes walk from the house. Julie is a warm and gracious host and offered to stock the kitchen with anything we needed before our arrival. The kitchen was well-equipped and a great neighborhood grocery is just 2 blocks away. The beds had very comfortable mattresses and linens. The bathrooms were spacious and well-supplied with plenty of towels, wash cloths, soap, and other supplies. Julie has curated a beautiful and impressive collection of art and antiques throughout her home...many are heirlooms from her family. All of these treasures fit perfectly into this 1904 town home. The remodeled and updated bathrooms, kitchen, and sunroom are sympathetically coordinated with the historic features to bring 21st century comfort and convenience. While there is no designated off-street parking for this house (or most in the neighborhood), we had no trouble at all parking 2 cars in front of the house during our entire stay. While not a place for children or anyone unable to manage stairs, this is a charming home for a Richmond visit. We plan to return this Spring for another 2 week stay and look forward to enjoying the garden, front and side porches.

The location of this home was perfect for where we needed to be. Parking was challenging but not impossible. The owner was easy to work with. In cooler weather the outdoor space would be a great place to hang out.

This was a perfect house and location for our ladies week in Richmond. The house is lovely and well taken care of. Julie was very helpful and very welcoming and made our stay so comfortable. The fan district is central to so many things and we especially enjoyed being able to walk to a number of restaurants and the art museum and historical society. On a return visit to Richmond we would definitely stay here again. Fanny W

My family and i stayed here and totally felt like home. The house has.3 gorgeous bedrooms that were roomy and had all the old charm with fireplaces and tall ceilings and beautiful windows. The linens were cozy and the colors light and airy. The dining room had a nice big table to seat 12 of my favorite aunts, uncles, cousins etc. It was the perfect Christmas holiday house with a nice glow about it. The neighborhood fantastic and the art museum a quick walk away. And what a fantastic art museum!! Julie is the most wonderful host. We will be badk many times!!

Great location, lovely home, and very accommodating host - I gave it four stars because the living spaces are small but that is quite typical of the area and it is an historic home that has been well-tended.
