Rosina and Sonny were very helpful picking us up at the airport and stopping at the grocery store. They were also great about keeping the boat gassed up for us that we had rented from them. Jonesville was a very beautiful side of the island with several restaurants, easy accessible by boat or water taxi. We spent our days going out on either the boat or the kayak. we enjoyed fishing, but most of all the snorkeling was fabulous. Bote ride through the mangroves was a beautiful adventure to a very pristine waters!

Wonderful property, pictures don’t do it justice, right on the water, the view is incredible, had a small boat and motor for our entire stay and spent hours exploring the area. Great fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and great restaurants close by. Our host Rosina is so knowledgeable of the area, very helpful and one of the nicest women we have ever met. Love it here.

Much needed tropical respite
From the very beginning of our trip, our host Sonny, took care of our every need. When our luggage was lost for 3 days, he took us to the local mall to obtain a few necessities.... like clothes LOL!! When the heavens opened up and we had torrential rains just before the boat trip to the house for our first night, he provided us with rain coats. Whenever we mentioned our desire to go to somewhere or see something he and Rosina were quick to arrange it. Souvenir shopping with Rosina and going to West End with Sonny were enjoyable and at a leisurely pace Their pride in the island was infectious and the information about the area they gave us was invaluable. Hint---Ask Sonny where you can get a good hamburger!! The house was very clean when we arrived, with plenty of bedding and towels. The beds were very comfy and bathroom was adequate and as pictured, with hot water in the shower. The kitchen appliances were relatively new and all in good working condition. Bottled water is available just a 1 minute boat ride from the house or can be delivered by Sonny or the store. We did not drink the local water, as it was rather salty (but was fine for cooking or washing dishes). Loved sitting on the deck with a good book and just watching the comings and goings of the town and fishing community. We saw Fred, the spotted ray, lobsters, a blue octopus (it's real -- look it up!!) a lion fish (only one), and tarpon right in front of the deck of the house. Go to the swimming platform to see flounder, sea cucumbers ( over 2 ft long), squid and other tropical fish close to the reef. The grounds are immaculate with Rosina's extensive gardens and beautiful flowers. Her pets and animals (monkeys, toucans, parrots, macaws and the Honduran "rabbit") are all well loved and cared for and it shows. We rented the boat for our over 30 day trip, it was easy to drive and well maintained. My husband likes to fish and I enjoy snorkeling. Sonny was able to accommodate both our interests, taking me to Pigeon Cay ( highly recommended--- incredible snorkeling, better than Hawaii!!) and my husband off fishing --- they brought home 15 red snappers that day!! Do bring bug spray, as there are no-see-ums and mossies everywhere on the island. We were treated like extended family by everyone, including their daughters, but given our space when we desired. Would we stay there again?? ABSOLUTELY!!! Already looking at dates for next year..........

A beautiful location for someone arriving on this island for a long vacation!
After arriving at my second location in Sandy Bay for continuing my vacation on this island for another 4 weeks, i was really happy that I had chosen the Mermaid Hill view cabin as the start of my Hollidays. Her location is picturesque, peaceful and extremely relaxing. If you’re a fanatic of the water, Rosina’s mermaid cabin is the place for you. First when you arrive, youre being picked up at the airport by this wonderful smiling host. Then driven to Jonesville bay where a small boat is waiting for you to take you to your home.
There, the breeze, the sounds of the waves surrounds you and brings your inner self to a place of tranquility.
At the mermaid cabin, you have no other choice than water sports.
Every day I was kayaking in the bay or along the majestic mangrove that you won’t find anywhere else. You also have the opportunity to rent a small boat on a weekly bases which allows you to visit the surrounding of Jonesville bay.
Hole in the wall with captain Ed behind the bar and the lovely Erica in the kitchen working her magic to make sure that my gluten free allergies are well respected, more on the east side of the island you have Oak Tidge bay with again more local food and entertainment awaits you.
If you love beaches, don’t make the same mistake as me and wait too long to ask your host how to get to them.
Overall, I had an amazing relaxing time at Rosina’s Mermaid Hill View cabin. Don’t hesitate to communicate with her prior to your trip. She’ll answer all of your questions.
Her and her husband are there to please you. 😎

Perfect Getaway!
My husband and I stayed at the Flamingo cabin during Christmas and New Years. The Flamingo cabin lived up to its description and prior reviews. Rosina was always responsive in responding to inquiries regarding the property. Coordinating our arrival, even if a day late (unexpected flight delays resulted in missing connecting flights) with Rosina was easy. In fact, because of the delay in our arrival, we had decided to stay extra days if the property was available. And to our surprise and delight, it was, which allowed us another 5 lovely days on the island and in the cabin. We needed help in figuring out how to get warm and hot water in the shower, which was remediated the first morning by Sonny.
Renting one of their small motor boats was the best way to enjoy the surrounding areas. It allowed us the freedom to come and go at our leisure. Availability of all the other water toys, kayaks and snorkeling gear, was fantastic. We took one of Rosina's tours out to West End and West Bay and surrounding towns for the day. That was a great way to see that more tourist part of the island. Rosina and Sonny were always helpful in answering questions and providing suggestions during our stay. The first couple of days we hadn't yet rented the motor boat, but with the ocean at our front door, we had plenty to keep us entertained. We took advantage of the two local restaurants, Hole in the Wall and Trico's, that would come pick us up for dinner and bring us back when we were done. All other places visited were friendly and fun. The local cell phone Rosina provided with pre-programmed numbers, making local calls was easy. The stop by the market on our way to the cabin was thoughtful so we could stock up on needed supplies for meals. My husband enjoyed diving at the Reef House and we both enjoyed snorkeling at various stops during our exploration in the little motor boat. It was a very relaxing holiday and I would not hesitate to stay again should we get back to Roatan and would recommend the cabins to friends and family.

Fantastic; the cabin was clean and had everything.
Sonny and Rosina (the owners) were fantastic and helped in so many ways to make our three week vacation a success.
With the ability to rent a small boat with outboard (very easy to drive) in addition to the rental really makes the property stand out. The area is mostly accessible by boat and a car is rarely needed and any reason you may need a car Rosina can help you organize transportation.
The two bedroom was large enough for two couples and included dedicated access to kayaks, fishing gear, snorkel gear, washing machine etc..
The location is fantastic as its within 5-10 minute boat ride to basic grocery stores, 5 restaurants/bars, mangrove tours and some of the best snorkeling in Roatan.
While booking the vacation Rosina was very responsive and helpful with our questions.
I would not hesitate to stay again and will be back.

Do not delay, book your stay at the Mermaid!
My family was greeted at the dock by hosts Sonny and Rosina for the quick trip over to the cabin. What a fantastic couple! They have a fabulous location and the cabin is perched at just the right spot overlooking the water. The front porch was our family's favorite spot. Sitting in the hammock or running around in the rain- it was the perfect for the kids. This cabin has everything you need to enjoy your stay- including a cell phone, WIFI, kayaks, drinking water, AC (which you don't really need during the day due to the way the cabin is designed) and a full kitchen. If you are looking for a fun, family vacation where you can live like the locals this is the place for you! There's no partying, so if that's your interest I would recommend something else. But, if you are looking for a tranquil place to spend quality time with your family do not delay and book your stay at the Mermaid!

Sit back and relax
Just returned home from a 2 wk stay at the Hillview cabins owned by Sonny and Rosina, one of our most relaxing vacations. Always something to do, if you wanted to do tours you can or just sit on the balcony overlooking the beautiful waters. Restaurants and bars just across the bay on the nights you don't want to stay in and cook. Cabins are totally stocked with everything you need and beautifully set up. Our hosts were full of information on the culture , the people and the history of the island. We had an amazing time.

Wonderful adventure!
We arrived at Hillview cabins on December 29 2016 and departed January 12 2017. It was a family trip to remember! 6 of us with two teen boys and my sister in law and her husband. Sonny and Rosina were exceptional hosts. Everything you need is in the cabin and any questions you have they answer and help you set up your adventures in Roatan. The cabin was clean, stocked and like home. We met so many wonderful Islanders and Canadian tourists on this trip. We had busy days and lovely relaxing days. My boys and I kayaked to the mangroves and snorkelled at the sandbar lagoon. Hole in the wall and Tricos bar/restaurant was a very daily visit for us by boat (we rented one from Sonny for two weeks)or kayak. We caught fish and swam daily off dock, bought lobster and crab from local fisherman from our dock too! We will return for sure!!!

Everything you need and more!
We came back for another week at the mermaid cabin, and it felt like we were coming home. It is such a beautiful and peaceful spot, with great amenities all near by. The owners of the property will help with anything you wish to do on Roatan, and are extremely knowledgable about the local culture, fishing spots, and where to go to get authentic island experiences. The cabin has anything and everything you need, with full kitchen and bath. Both of the bedrooms are comfortable and feels safe and cozy. There is even laundry!
We enjoyed to sunrises and sunsets with only gentle ocean noise, and the purr of the resident's boats passing by. Other than that you can make your stay live up to every expectation.
And definitely try out the kayaks, lots of fun int he mangroves.

The Best Accomodations and Owner/Property Managers on The Island of Roatan
Rosina and Sonny Jones are excelled in every way possible to make our work/vacation trip enjoyable. First of all there new, 2 bedroom one bathroom cabin meets every traveler's needs. Be it wi fi, full modern kitchen, cable tv that had every euro and copa american game live with chanels in English and Spanish the bedrooms had air conditioning in both bedrooms and there were 4 kayaks and snorkel gear available to use. The best part about staying with Sonny and Rosina are Sonny and Rosina themselves. I am coming back to Roatan later this year and will stay with them.

A Secret Gem
Our stay with the Jones was perfect in every way. They are so accommodating to what you want to do, whether it be horseback riding, visiting different parts of the island, or helping you get the best freshest shrimp/fish possible. The cabin is new and very clean and has all necessary kitchen items. The bathroom is modern too ! The location is a little off the beaten path which made it very private and peaceful. The family welcomes you with open arms, it was sad to leave. I recommend this location too for the fantastic scuba diving in the area. You can kayak to a restaurant or visit the Mangroves. Very cool for outdoor type people.
