About this house rental
We invite you to step back into the history of Dillon, CO. This family vacation home is our transformed mountain retreat, which we purchased from the State of Colorado in 1964. The original structure was a tractor and horse barn for the Ranger Station in the old town of Dillon. It was located where the Lake was to be built; thus, the family purchased and moved it to its current location in 1964. We converted the structure into a beautiful mountain home that comfortably sleep 13 people. Its history is quite remarkable and our home is listed as one of the historical buildings of Dillon CO.
You will be greeted with the original wood that covers all the 1st floor interior, along with many of the “barn features” as we have attempted to maintain some of its original construction. The spacious kitchen was converted from the two horse stalls. The family room was the garage for the Rangers' large tractors. The main floor bathroom was the tack room, and you will note the grain drop in the hallway. Up the original staircase to the second floor we raised the roof for comfort sake and put in the 2nd bathroom. The original wood was used for the wainscoting with dry wall above to accent the wood. Note the original wood flooring upstairs.
After this remarkable remodel and upgrades, the family endearingly nicknamed our mountain home “the Barn”. Our home offers a cozy setting all four seasons. Most of all, its location is easily accessible to all the year-round Summit County offerings. Close skiing includes Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain. You can walk to Lake Dillon Reservoir, enjoy boating or simply enjoy the spectacular view. There are easy to challenging hiking trails throughout the magnificent Rocky Mountains. Also, you are within close access to great restaurants in Dillon and surrounding towns. Be sure to try Arapahoe Café in Dillon.

We had a group of 10 and had a wonderful stay at Dillon Barn! The history is so cool and you can feel the many joyful times that have been shared over the years there! Perfect location with the lake being a short walk away. Absolutely recommend this spot - I think it would be lovely for a family stay as well :)

Stayed here for two nights with a group of 13 (Three Families). There was plenty of bed space for everyone.
The house itself drips with character. From what I could gather, it was converted from a 100+ year-old state park building. It's adorned with old park memorabilia and signs. The living room is gigantic with plush carpet, several couches, and a poker table.
The location was great. We had plenty of options for dinner and were surrounded by ski resorts. We skied Copper and Loveland.

The spacious home was great of our group of 9 adults/teens/kids. Kitchen and living room provided a lot of space for us to spread out. Location is an easy drive into Dillon/Silverthorne and to Keystone and A-Basin ski resorts. Only improvement would be to invest in better mattresses for the bunks and single bed…Otherwise it worked great for us. Thank you for sharing your home!

We loved this cabin in the mountains. We had 10 friends on our annual ski vacation. This property was that cabin in the mountains you are looking for. Big kitchen we could all be together while we cooked and a beautiful gas fireplace surrounded by couches where we could talk into the night. The TV as very small as we were watching the Oscars but that was the only thing that wasn't perfect for our needs.

The house is warm and cozy and easily accommodated our two families with 5 teenagers. The kitchen is very well equipped and allows cooking meals for 10+ people. The only minor issue is that, with only two bathrooms, in the morning there may be a bit of a line. The location is very convenient for skiing: about 10 minutes from Keystone, 20 min to A-basin and 30 min to Breckenridge. Plenty of shops nearby and there are also opportunities for walking around the lake. The host has been very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We had a great time and will definitely consider this house for future trips to this area.

Spacious
We had three families in this home, a group of 12 total. This was a spacious house with great bedroom set ups. There were some fun activities for the teens and we had good supplies in the kitchen. The only downside, which we were aware of, was two bathrooms. We made it work. This was a great spot for us during our Loveland ski vacation.

Great location and optimal sleeping space
My family and used this location to get together and ski in CO since we were not able to see each other over the holidays. This house was great for 9 people. Everyone had a bed and it was a short drive to anywhere we wanted to go. 10 min from Keystone, 25 from Breckinridge. Dillon is an awesome spot!
The decor and house is old but it was perfect for my family since we were just looking for a place to eat dinners together, sleep and play games after skiing on the mountain.

Pedal, paddle, hike, bike, walk, and relax
Perfect location and size for our extended family of nine for a weeklong stay in Summit County. Kitchen was large enough to prep and feed the group and we used the grill almost daily. We brought along bikes, paddle boards and kayaks to take advantage of the easy access to the trails and Lake Dillon, Great options for paved trail riding and off-road riding that were super close.
The house fit us all comfortably and we were able to spread out and relax, read and snooze. The location was great to get to other hiking, horseback riding, shopping, dining and more.
Summit County is one of our favorite places and we're glad we picked this historic home for the stay!

We loved our stay!
We're from Denver and wanted a close Mountain getaway where we could spend time together as a family. The Barn in Dillon was an amazing choice. We had so much fun learning about the history of The Barn and it accommodated our large family perfectly. There were 7 adults and 4 kids and there was plenty of space for all of us. We made really good use out of the dart board, gas fireplace, and the bumper pool table. The kids really loved the bunk room and slept great there. A couple of us went skiing but mostly we just enjoyed cooking in the stocked kitchen, playing games at the big kitchen table, and playing outside in the snow. We would recommend this cabin to anyone and would love to come back!

There is no lake view from the house. The pictures gave me the impression the property was more isolated. Those two things were what I was looking for. The kitchen and back porch were wonderful. The living room was rather dark. The beds are soft and small. The grounds were ok for the children. It would have been nice to have a seat on the swing. It was a good walk down to the lake and around to the play ground. Overall we enjoyed staying but would not book again.

Barn lives up to the description
Our large group of 13 enjoyed this house. It is comfortable and cozy and we enjoyed having a fire in the living room. The teenagers didn’t find the bunk beds too comfy but they made it work. The kitchen was well stocked and organized. The location made getting to Keystone and Breckenridge easy.

Great house with lots of character
We utilized the Barn to house a contingent of family members in Dillon for a reunion. The house is rustically and eclectically decorated giving it a lot of character. The living room and kitchen provide a large area for people to congregate with lots of seating, a cozy fireplace, and big windows. We experienced a long rainy day and there was plenty of room and activities in the house for us not to feel like we were confined. The kitchen is well equipped and served us well. The deck on the back of the house is big enough for all the residents to sit and eat outdoors. The upstairs bedrooms are comfortable with plenty of privacy (except for the bunk room).
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could confidently recommend it to anyone (unless someone was specifically seeking a "luxury" home).
Finally, it was clear that the owner(s) of the home want their guests to be completely satisfied with their rental experience. They have pride in the home and it shows in the way they decorate, equip, and take care of it.
A great choice!

The Barn - great for a family gathering
Well equipped kitchen with a large dining room/table, fabulous sitting room with many different games/bumper pool table, nice big deck outside, close walking distance to Dillon Marina and the town. Close to shopping, groceries, movies and hiking trails. All three generations ages ranging from 14 to 83 enjoyed staying this beautiful home.

Rustic mountain cabin/barn
We had 10 people staying here and it worked out great. Everything was clean and worked well (except the wifi being somewhat unreliable). We skied Keystone multiple days, it was an easy 10 minutes drive. Overall, we really enjoyed the cabin and the location.

Excellent!
This is a great location (centrally located) and excellent overall value on a 5 bedroom house. We had 3 dads and 5 teen boys there for 6 days. There was plenty of room for all. The house is very well equipped too, so you do not need to run out to get little things like laundry soap or trash bags. Also, Matt was very responsive and made us feel like valued guests. The Barn was one of the best VRBO experiences I have had, and we plan to book it again for sure!

Spacious Home
The Barn is a great home for a small group and very reasonably priced. It sits back in a quiet Dillon neighborhood that is close to all that Summit County has to offer. It has a spacious downstairs kitchen and living room area with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The Barn comfortably sleeps 13 (3 rooms with queen beds, 1 room with a queen and full bed, and 2 sets of bunks in a common area) upstairs. There are 2 bathrooms, 1 full and 1 - 3/4 very small bathroom. The living room is set up nicely around the fireplace.
The only pitfall was the wifi capability, which made it a little hard to look up information about things to do in the area, so look up information before you go or when you are out and about or call the facility you are needing information about. The owner does let you know the wifi is sketchy.
All-in-all, we had a great time and The Barn was perfect for our family mountain vacation.

Excellent Property and Location!
We rented the home for our charity event team. The home is unique and has character. It is in an ideal location to major activities - skiing, lake, concerts, etc... Whatever you want, this place is centrally located. In addition, it has all of the amenities you would need for your stay. No complaints!
My tips if you are staying at the home... Only 2 bathrooms, so plan accordingly. We didn't have any issues but I could see how some people would. And when picking your room, remember it is an older place, so the floors squeak. Advise staying further away from the bathroom unless you are a sound sleeper. :)
Awesome place and would definitely stay there again.

Great space for getting together with old friends
We are four high school friends from the '60's who all live in different states. This was our opportunity to get together in a spacious but also cozy atmosphere to catch up on years of our lives apart. We spent hours gabbing in the living room on the comfy chairs and couches, and also much time on the deck and in the large, well-equipped kitchen. (Two of us are excellent cooks, the other two excellent consumers of cooking). The best thing is that there are four bedrooms, all with at least queen size beds and windows! It's hard to find a four bedroom house to rent where someone doesn't end up sleeping in a bunk bed and/or a tiny windowless space. We went out to lunch in Dillon, Frisco, and Vail, all lovely small towns (well Vail is larger, and very posh - loved viewing the very expensive and beautiful homes there) surrounded by majestic mountains. We were there in July, so the trip wasn't about skiing, but if that's what you want to do you'll be well placed to get to several skiing areas in less than an hour. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Highly recommended!
