About this house rental

This season spend your vacation on the ocean overlooking Henry’s Cove in Winter Harbor with all the amenities nearby—5-minute walk to the center of Winter Harbor where art galleries, antique stores, and a 5&10 will bring you back to a simpler life. A nearby walk leads you to the working Inner Harbor where fishing boats come and go. How can it be better! Just relax! Let the town work its magic on you. Grindstone Neck, Schoodic Point, Frazer’s Point, and Schoodic Head are all destination points of interest. Plus, from the opposite shore of Henry’s Cove, a ferry travels daily to downtown Bar Harbor passing by Mark Island with a historic lighthouse, uninhabited Ironbound Island, and the Porcupine Islands all in Frenchman’s Bay. In the distance, Cadillac Mountain is the highlight of Bar Harbor.

The house at the end of School Street has a wide deck overlooking the tidal pools and granite ledges. Bird watchers, kayakers, boaters, cyclists, hikers, photographers, and wanderers of all types will have a wonderful time watching the sea birds including eagles and osprey, smelling the native pine trees and wild roses, and feeling the cool of the inevitable change in weather as the tide comes in and goes out.
The ranch-style house provides sleeping for 6 (maximum 9 including sofa bed and roll away) with relaxing living and dining room areas crowned with magnificent picture windows looking out on to Henry’s Cove and beyond. The galley-type kitchen has modern appliances; the living area has cable TV and a phone for local calls. The local grocery store, also within walking distance, has your haddock filets for dinner and the local fishermen’s co-op has the lobsters.

The property is 1 1/2 acres including woods along 300+ feet of shoreline.
Life is too short not to visit Winter Harbor, a beautiful area of the Maine coast off the beaten track but right next door.

The perfect spot to relax & enjoy the peace of the water after long days of hiking & biking the Schoodic peninsula. Easy ferry access to Bar Harbor, but really no need to leave Winter Harbor. Requires some planning around meals as many things close early. We enjoyed grabbing some fresh lobster from the local co-op & cooking them at home. Would love to return in the future.

This house is located right on an ocean cove, with 2 decks. Spacious living and dining area. Kitchen had all we needed. Super quiet. If you have young children they may have to sleep on the hide a bed as there is only 1 bed upstairs, the rest are in the basement. If you want to go to Bar Harbor there is a ferry but it is $20 per adult one way. To drive there or Acadia takes about an hour one way. We saw lots of marine birds and also a seal right in front of the house!

My family stayed at the property for four nights in July. We have two teenage boys. We traveled back and forth to the main part of Acadia several days, but fell in love with the Schoodic area of the park just minutes from this house. The rocks and views at Schoodic point are breathtaking. We did a great hike up Anvil Trail to Schoodic Point (follow Alder Trail back down). It was just wonderful. Winter Harbor is a lovely town and we enjoyed walking to the 5 and 10 and eating at the restaurants in town that are all a very short distance from the property. The house itself is just as described by so many other reviewers: clean, comfortable, and so calming. We enjoyed the large windows, the lovely flowers and the wildlife. The family sat on the deck in the mornings and watched fishermen on the water, tides and fog rolling in and out, and the star filled night skies. We felt so peaceful and relaxed at this home. There’s plenty of space indoors and outdoors to fit a family comfortably. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals. The washer and dryer were also so convenient since we were coming home from the park each day with a lot of laundry. I can’t say enough about this house. I’d recommend it to others with no hesitation. My family and I thank you for a lovely stay and for helping us create lasting memories.

The location was perfect to watch seabirds, raptors and songbirds, as well as an occasional seal. Everything you need is available in the house or village, within walking distance. Bicycling the Schoodic Peninsula Loop road and surrounding area is very accessible and safe. This was our second visit to Schoodic View house and we hope to return.

This is a wonderful house with big picture windows where you can watch boats, the tide and fog roll in/out, birds, ducks, deer etc; smell fresh air and flowers; and be near the quiet side of Acadia, great food options, local artists ( US Bells was a favorite) - restful and restorative.

Really this place is all about the views ! Sitting on the decks watching the tide come in and out. We had a really cool day of fog rolling in. I wish they would put a bigger bed on the main floor . We didn’t even go into the basement . But that’s my biggest complaint is the small bed. If you’re coming to Maine for the beautiful wilderness this is your spot. It’s super quiet unlike Bar Harbor that’s so busy
