About this house rental
This season spend your vacation on the ocean overlooking Henry’s Cove in Winter Harbor with all the amenities nearby—5-minute walk to the center of Winter Harbor where art galleries, antique stores, and a 5&10 will bring you back to a simpler life. A nearby walk leads you to the working Inner Harbor where fishing boats come and go. How can it be better! Just relax! Let the town work its magic on you. Grindstone Neck, Schoodic Point, Frazer’s Point, and Schoodic Head are all destination points of interest. Plus, from the opposite shore of Henry’s Cove, a ferry travels daily to downtown Bar Harbor passing by Mark Island with a historic lighthouse, uninhabited Ironbound Island, and the Porcupine Islands all in Frenchman’s Bay. In the distance, Cadillac Mountain is the highlight of Bar Harbor.
The house at the end of School Street has a wide deck overlooking the tidal pools and granite ledges. Bird watchers, kayakers, boaters, cyclists, hikers, photographers, and wanderers of all types will have a wonderful time watching the sea birds including eagles and osprey, smelling the native pine trees and wild roses, and feeling the cool of the inevitable change in weather as the tide comes in and goes out.
The ranch-style house provides sleeping for 6 (maximum 9 including sofa bed and roll away) with relaxing living and dining room areas crowned with magnificent picture windows looking out on to Henry’s Cove and beyond. The galley-type kitchen has modern appliances; the living area has cable TV and a phone for local calls. The local grocery store, also within walking distance, has your haddock filets for dinner and the local fishermen’s co-op has the lobsters.
The property is 1 1/2 acres including woods along 300+ feet of shoreline.
Life is too short not to visit Winter Harbor, a beautiful area of the Maine coast off the beaten track but right next door.

The perfect spot to relax & enjoy the peace of the water after long days of hiking & biking the Schoodic peninsula. Easy ferry access to Bar Harbor, but really no need to leave Winter Harbor. Requires some planning around meals as many things close early. We enjoyed grabbing some fresh lobster from the local co-op & cooking them at home. Would love to return in the future.

This house is located right on an ocean cove, with 2 decks. Spacious living and dining area. Kitchen had all we needed. Super quiet. If you have young children they may have to sleep on the hide a bed as there is only 1 bed upstairs, the rest are in the basement. If you want to go to Bar Harbor there is a ferry but it is $20 per adult one way. To drive there or Acadia takes about an hour one way.
We saw lots of marine birds and also a seal right in front of the house!

My family stayed at the property for four nights in July. We have two teenage boys. We traveled back and forth to the main part of Acadia several days, but fell in love with the Schoodic area of the park just minutes from this house. The rocks and views at Schoodic point are breathtaking. We did a great hike up Anvil Trail to Schoodic Point (follow Alder Trail back down). It was just wonderful.
Winter Harbor is a lovely town and we enjoyed walking to the 5 and 10 and eating at the restaurants in town that are all a very short distance from the property.
The house itself is just as described by so many other reviewers: clean, comfortable, and so calming. We enjoyed the large windows, the lovely flowers and the wildlife. The family sat on the deck in the mornings and watched fishermen on the water, tides and fog rolling in and out, and the star filled night skies. We felt so peaceful and relaxed at this home.
There’s plenty of space indoors and outdoors to fit a family comfortably. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals. The washer and dryer were also so convenient since we were coming home from the park each day with a lot of laundry.
I can’t say enough about this house. I’d recommend it to others with no hesitation. My family and I thank you for a lovely stay and for helping us create lasting memories.

We loved the tranquility of Elizabeth's home. Amazing views of the water and incredible proximity to shops and hiking. We would love to return!

We had a lovely week here. The house was clean and we loved the location—both for its convenience and peacefulness.

The location was perfect to watch seabirds, raptors and songbirds, as well as an occasional seal. Everything you need is available in the house or village, within walking distance. Bicycling the Schoodic Peninsula Loop road and surrounding area is very accessible and safe. This was our second visit to Schoodic View house and we hope to return.
4.8
This is a wonderful house with big picture windows where you can watch boats, the tide and fog roll in/out, birds, ducks, deer etc; smell fresh air and flowers; and be near the quiet side of Acadia, great food options, local artists ( US Bells was a favorite) - restful and restorative.
4.8
Really this place is all about the views ! Sitting on the decks watching the tide come in and out. We had a really cool day of fog rolling in. I wish they would put a bigger bed on the main floor . We didn’t even go into the basement . But that’s my biggest complaint is the small bed. If you’re coming to Maine for the beautiful wilderness this is your spot. It’s super quiet unlike Bar Harbor that’s so busy

We had a wonderful time and the home well exceeded our expectations. An idyllic and cozy oceanfront cottage.

As I sit here… trying to find words to express myself
This April break getaway was a last minute plan to have some quality time with family. Our stay in this charming cottage was amazing. The tranquility of this property and the small town of Winter Harbor sanitized us of any screen time. Watching the loones chase each playing or diving in and out…Seagulls communicating with each other, the refreshing smell of the harbor and the calming sound of gentle waves…Watching the sun rise over the harbor was a great experience. Local lobstermen setting traps in the early hours of the morning…
The cottage was all the three “C”s. Comfy, Clean and Cozy! The host thought of every little detail. It was evident she was committed to make the guests feel at home and comfortable.
I have fallen in love with nature all over again, and Winter Harbor, ME! Despite our stay being out of season, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and will surely come back!
I love to travel but I always ache for the comfort of my home in a couple of days. Not this time! Had a hard time leaving this morning… A stay in this cottage is must!!!

It felt like coming to your grandmothers.
so comfy and cozy, everything you needed with a wonderful view of the harbor with amazing sunrise over
schoodic pennisula.
We enjoyed walking around town. And hiking on Schoodic head.
A lovely time of year to visit, cool temps and less tourists!

Three of us shared this comfortable house, off the beaten path on a quiet cove. The deck and yard overlook the water, and we enjoyed sunrises and sunsets with harbor seals swimming nearby. Kitchen with nicely equipped with basics for for meal preparation and serving. Little touches -- like binoculars and bird books on the table by the large window -- invited us to explore and enjoy the environment. Check-in and check-out were easy, and our host was welcoming and responsive. We hope to return for a longer stay some time soon.

We had a great time at the cottage. Great view of the harbor with lots of wildlife around the property, turkey (4 Tom’s and 6 hens) deer, (buck, doe, young bud buck and young doe), otter, and lots of seabirds. A bit of a drive to the main Acadia Park area but we knew this up front. A great place away from the busy touristy Bar Harbor area. Well stocked kitchen was a plus. We would highly recommend this property.

I looked forward to enjoying this property once again with more friends. It is just as charming, quaint and quiet as the first time I visited. I now need to figure out how to get there for a third time ! My friends enjoyed our stay and appreciated the charm as much as I did.
Plenty of cookware, plates and cups. We used the washer and dryer. Enjoyed the deck for morning tea and evening star gazing. Had a big rain and wind storm and we were warm and cozy inside.
We enjoyed walking to restaurants in town and to the 5 and dime. Also enjoyed the proximity to Schoodic Point. After enjoying Bar Harbor for a day, we were all happy to drive back to the peace and quiet of our cottage.
I recommend this cottage to anyone who is considering a visit. It feels like you’re home.

We loved our stay. We had plenty of room. The neighborhood was quiet. The view was amazing!

So glad we chose this property for our time in Acadia. The home is so cozy & welcoming, and exceptionally clean. The setting is absolutely beautiful, the town is charming, and feels like a little Mayberry. My only regret is not staying a little longer & having more time to spend at the home/ town. I hope we can come back again one day!

We had a wonderful visit to Winter Harbor at the beginning of August. The cottage was clean and well appointed. So much more space than you think! We had 3 adults and 2 children and had plenty of space to spread out. We loved being able to walk to town or sit on the deck and watch the tide. My mom joined us and she is already looking at returning to this cottage. We highly recommend!

It is exactly as described and was a perfect house to stay in while visiting Arcadia and Bar Harbor. This house is next door to the Schoodic entrance of the park. The ferry terminal is also close if you want to hitch a ride to Bar Harbor. There are local restaurants and shops within walking distance.

This was the 2nd time staying at this property. We just love everything about it and the location is just beautiful. We enjoyed a fire every night, star gazing, watching the seals in the bay from the back yard, hiking in the Schoodic Peninsula, the ferry ride to Bar Harbor and some of the Winter Harbor restaurants.

Our family of 5 loved this shoreside home. We had plenty of space and everything we needed for a special vacation. The location is perfect - we could watch the tide go in and out, the ferry go by, the lobster boats check on traps. We saw seals and herons. All from inside through the 2 huge windows facing the water. The home is so quiet and very clean.
We walked to the grocery store, 5 & 10, post office, co-op, marina and ice cream at gerrishs. There is a park right next door and our kids loved the freedom they had to get around on their own too. With a less than 5 minute drive to Schoodic, we spent tons of time there and could never get enough.
It is a solid 1 hour drive to Bar Harbor so we made day trips there. It was always great to get back to our quiet, beautiful place in Winter Harbor.

Lovely, nostalgic, very clean, quiet, and beautiful coastline!

Our stay was delightful! Quiet, private and close to town. Winter Harbor is a gem and the cottage was the perfect place to stay!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this cottage. From the moment we entered, I knew our time there would be too short. My adult daughters loved the wildlife and shoreline shells. My husband and I appreciated Winter Harbor, as it offers a quieter side of Acadia. The home was perfect for us - including a well stocked kitchen - and we will definitely be back!

Clean and beautiful home with great views. Winter Harbor was a great little town and had all the conveniences that we needed. It was just the perfect location for our Maine trip! We hope to come back again.

The property was great! Nice just looking out at the water! Neighborhood as a fyi closes early and some places are closed sun and Monday so plan accordingly.
4.8
The home was a comfortable place that exuded the essence of the woman who once lived there. It was a peaceful retreat with beautiful views.
4.8
Loved our stay. Could sit and watch out the windows forever. Location was perfect. Loved walking into town and driving around the area. House had lots of fun discoveries for my kids. Plenty of room for the four of us. Thank you for sharing this home.

This property was like a wonderful time capsule into a simpler time, and I loved every second of staying there. First of all, the house was immaculate. The huge picture window right when we walked in was so clean, it was like looking directly into the bay. And the views were wonderful!
I sat outside with coffee each morning and took in the sights and sounds. It was a lovely way to begin each day. Winter Harbor is a cute town, and everything was walkable. The proximity to the Schoodic section of Acadia was very close by. We did drive to Mount Desert Island a couple of times, and the trip was.about 45 minutes each way. I am glad we chose Winter Harbor as it was so much more quiet.
Everything we needed was in the home. A comfortable and clean space, it was perfect for our family of 3. Do not hesitate to book this property. I'd go back to it again and again.

This is a great little house in a GREAT location. We loved it here!

We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay from the moment we walked through the door. The home has lots of natural light and beautiful views. Almost no need to leave the property!

We stayed for a week and we are so glad we did. This house is comfy with some wonderful history. We immediately felt as if we had been personally invited to visit. The town is very quiet but that’s what we wanted. The house is very private on a quiet cul-de-sac. We could walk to town or drive a short ways to Acadia National Park. We loved the view of the bay out the picture windows. It was a little too cold to sit outside but sitting in the comfy living room was the next best thing with that window. The kitchen has all the appliances you need to eat in (but we loved the restaurants in town for lunch or dinner). If we ever come back to Maine (we are from CA), we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend this sweet home on the water.

This was our first time to visit Maine, so we were totally unfamiliar with the area. We found out that we truly enjoyed staying on the "quiet side" of Acadia!! The Schoodic Peninsula turned out to be one of our favorite spots in Acadia! It provided just what we were looking for....peace and quiet while enjoying the beauty of Maine. The view from the front porch was amazing. It was so much fun to watch the tide changes and to see the various bird visitors with the provided binoculars. And we especially loved sitting by the firepit on the cool fall evenings!
The inside of the house was exactly as pictured. And it was obvious that this home has been loved for many years! It was quite comfortable for just the two of us, and it was very clean. Checking in was easy, and instructions about everything were quite clear and easily understood. I texted the owner during our stay with a quick question and she responded very quickly.
For those who want to visit Bar Harbor and the main part of Acadia, it's only about an hour drive. We were able to see the Cadillac Mountain sunrise, which has been on my "bucket list" for many years! But don't forget to purchase tickets in advance!! I witnessed some very disappointed travelers at the Visitors' Center. Don't miss Sand Beach, Thunder Hole & Jordan Pond. So many trails for those who love hiking!!!
Places to eat--we enjoyed Chase's in Winter Harbor for breakfast. In Bar Harbor, we ate at Geddy's and had a great time there. Eating outdoors at Jordan Pond in Acadia was gorgeous, and the food was yummy! Of course, they're known for their popovers! And I had some delicious peach ice cream for dessert!
I would definitely recommend this property!!!

My sister and I rented this property specifically because our grandparents use to own the land the current house is on. The current house is old and could use a good cleaning, removing some of the clutter. Location is beautiful and I am so glad to have spent 7 days walking the shore and remembering 1960’s and early 70’s there as a kid.

Our family absolutely loved our week spent at this quaint home right on the harbor! We watched the sun rise each day over the water, while enjoying our morning coffee on the deck. Our three year old son LOVED playing down by the water with the rocks, shells, and seaweed.
The location is absolutely PERFECT! The home sits on a private nook right on the harbor with easy access to coffee shops, stores, and restaurants on Main Street. There’s a playground within walking distance too, if you have children.
Access to the ferry to Bar Harbor is a quick 5 min drive (and visible just across the harbor from the house!) We highly recommend the ferry ride, as you can see lighthouses, gorgeous homes, islands, and tons of wildlife!
The house was SO CLEAN! It’s as if the original owners left in 1960 and invited you to enjoy their pristine (but super cozy) slice of Winter Harbor life. As you settle in, you start to understand how many memories must have been made in this home.
I shed a few tears as we left and am already planning our next visit. We were able to create amazing memories with our toddler, enjoy the beauty of Acadia National Park (Schoodic Point is 15 minutes away!), and eat the most delicious seafood. We highly recommend this home!

Amazing location on Henry's Bay!!
Well loved, family home!
Very grateful for the opportunity to stay here!!

What a lovely stay we had at the winter harbor house! It was so private and the view was absolutely stunning. I will miss drinking my coffee outside in the morning and relaxing by the fire in the evening with the sounds of the birds and the waves. The house was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. So close to the Schoodic Acadia and a beautiful drive to the National Park/Bar Harbor. Great communication with the host and just the peace and relaxation we were looking for!! Will will 100% be back.

This property was a gem! It was very clean and well equipped. It was like staying at grandma’s house. The location was very private and quiet with awesome views. A short walk to the town of Winter Harbor and a short drive or bike to the Schoodic Peninsula and to take the ferry to Bar Harbor. Recommend!
4.8
The house is very comfortable and has a spectacular view of a cove of the bay. It's within walking distance of downtown and a few restaurants, and a very short drive to the Schoodic part of Acadia National Park. I would rent it again in a heartbeat if I come back to this area. The owner went out of her way to be sure we had a good experience.
