About this house rental
Enjoy your Master Bedroom with private bath. Indulge in your European steam shower and marble-tiled, dual-head shower spa. Your separate media room comes equipped with a 77' flat screen TV with Apple TV, a Wii and Wii Fit for gaming enthusiasts, and built-in, custom-carpeted, stadium seating for enjoying with family and friends! Besides enjoying a game, Blue Ray DVD, or your own movies and music via apps like Netflix and iTunes, feel free to enjoy a book, play a board game, or pass an afternoon on the second story outdoor seating area watching the sail and power boats explore the coast. Your custom kitchen, part of a recent hundred thousand dollar renovation, waits just inside, where you can fix anything from French 75's to a pitcher of frozen margaritas-- or gourmet cook to your hearts content-- while drinking in the visual beauty of the Carolina coast or listening to shore birds and the clinking of the ships' rigging... Downstairs, one bedroom is perfect for young children with its two day beds, comfortingly enclosed on three sides. Two roll-out trundles are great for siblings. Or, the bedroom can be put to good use by single friends maximizing space on vacation! Enjoy the back porch swing and two bathrooms from which to choose: one with a custom, marble-tiled shower enclosure with its own water-heater to ensure endless showers or another with a Jacuzzi jetted-tub large enough for couples or young children and their friends! A second bedroom is perfect for couples or siblings with its full-size, handmade solid pine daybed with full-size, roll-out trundle. Both bedrooms also feature sail chairs--comfortable and nearly indestructible-- made locally from up-cycled, racing-grade, boat sail!. The third bedroom, with queen bed, antique side tables and blanket chest, is well-suited to grandparents or another couple. It is also the location of the wireless router which affords high speed internet throughout the home. Your upstairs custom kitchen has bar seating as well as a more formal dining area for eight. In addition to typical amenities, enjoy your Keurig, espresso maker, charcoal grill (Big Green Egg, XL, to be exact), and atypical cookware including a pressure cooker favored in many cuban dishes. You'll also find your kitchen basics fully stocked on arrival-- we do ask that you replenish what you use and we welcome suggestions on what you'd like to see added in the future. Outside, enjoy cornhole in your side yard, display your grilling expertise on your own luxury Big Green Egg (but please ONLY use the supplied BGE Charcoal and SpeediLight Natural Charcoal Starters) in the hardscaped backyard with built-in firepit, stroll through the picturesque neighborhood, or take a swim or a suntan in the in-ground pool. If exploring's your passion, the marina, coastal walk, and historic Southport are just down the street. If bar-life or food are your passions, stroll to six right on the water-- and don't be surprised to watch dolphins play while you eat (or drink!). Jump on your bikes or walk a little farther for the shopping or antiquing which brings day trippers down from Wilmington, Oak Island, or Bald Head. Terrific beaches are easily accessible by car and/or ferry, ranging from minutes on neighboring Oak Island to 30 minutes or so for Wilmington area destinations. Or, with an additional security deposit, fee, and proof of boating experience, use your 19' Grady White with a Yamaha 150, berthed within eyesight of your home, and the entire coast is your playground! Pack a picnic and Pelican Island can be your private beach, and is a 5-minute boat-ride away. Visit Bald Head Island and its miles of pristine beaches, including terrific body-surfing and surfing breaks. Boat the Intracoastal and stop for lunch, dinner, or drinks, wherever you fancy! If golf's your passion, St James Plantation is right around the corner by boat or car. Original art throughout including works by local artists and the Georgia-based, Sandra Sacco. Custom ceiling fans throughout.

We really enjoyed our stay at Crazy Birds again. We cooked several times and had adequate supplies and dishes. Loved the kitchen appliance upgrades. Looking forward to seeing the renovation on the media room!! The only issue we had was the cleaning service forgot King sheets for our bed. However, after contacting the owner, we had sheets the next morning. They were quick to respond. Thanks for beautiful memories made. Until next time!!!

Perfect for our family, we add extra days before we head to Caswell Beach for the week. We love Southport, have been vacationing in this area for over 30 years.

My daughter and her 8 bridesmaids stayed at Crazy Birds the weekend of her wedding. It was a perfect location with plenty of room. They all loved the media room. One of the girls (my daughter) left her necklace. The cleaning crew found it and the host contacted me to let me know. We went a few days later and picked it up. Patrick/Carrie were always an email away and quick to respond. We would definitely stay here again.

The place and location were fantastic. The check in and out was easy and was a perfect place for a family weekend getaway.

The place was clean and as advertised. We loved the proximity to town and it's quiet location. My kids made great use of the bikes and the media room. The kitchen was well stocked and very up to date. We very much enjoyed our stay.

A beautiful property in a charming town! Enjoyed the high end features of the home like the jacuzzi tub and the steam shower. The location was excellent as everything was within walking distance. The hosts were super as they responded quickly to any question we had. The evenings by the firepit were a special time for our family. Southport is such a hidden charm. The beauty of the water, little shops and ferry rides to islands and Fort Fisher made it a special visit.

The seven ladies in our group had a great weekend!!! Lovely place to stay. We would stay there again.

Enjoyed your townhome very much! Loved the location!

The house was absolutely beautiful and well taken care of. They had everything we needed. It was worth the visit!! We are in love with Southport! The Wedding was beautiful and Southport will always be a special place for us all.
Thank you,
Jeff & Shelia Parker

Lovely and spacious house within walking distance of shops, restaurants and riverfront. Short drive to beach. House is great for either a group of friends or a family with children. Hosts are responsive and easy to communicate with.

We enjoyed our stay at the Crazy Birds house in Southport, North Carolina. There were three adults in our group. My only complaint would be is that there is not any kind of den or sitting area for adults to hang out. There is a nice fire pit outdoors, but it was way too hot to consider that on this trip. It was perfect for what we needed. Thank you.

Overall we had a great time. Location perfect for walking to shops and restaurants, but still peaceful with a water view of the marina. Beds comfortable, plenty of kitchenware. It was a bit smaller than we anticipated (it’s only half of the house shown in the picture), and we were surprised to find it didn’t have its own pool (it’s a community pool). The steam shower was nice touch!

The house is beautiful with so much space. The amenities are amazing especially the sauna shower. It is close to everything and in a great neighborhood with friendly people.

Three generations gathered here for New Year's weekend (all adults). Plenty of beds and bathrooms with two bonuses: a steam shower and jacuzzi tub!
Of note, the eat-in kitchen (with seating for 8) is upstairs. The first floor porch and second floor balcony were favorite spots for curling up with a good book while enjoying morning sun.
Patrick was very responsive as needed, provided thorough welcoming communications and accommodated our late check out.

This is a great house for a group of people! There were plenty of spaces to hang out together or to find solace with a book! The location was ideal for getting around town for meals and shopping. I'm pretty sure we did not drive the entire weekend. The water views were serene! I definitely recommend Crazy Birds to anyone and can't wait to get back again!

My friends and I truly enjoyed our stay at Crazybirds! When we first got there we were impressed at the cleanliness of it. We’ve stayed at other VRBO properties and this one was exceptional! When we weren’t walking through town (Sooo many cute shops and restaurants!!) we spent most of our time in the common spaces of the home! The open kitchen has a large table and bar area perfect for spending time together and we loved the covered balcony that’s right off the kitchen….and those water views were everything and perfect for sunset happy hour! In the evening after we came home from dinner (Mr. P's is a MUST) we hung out by the firepit/patio. The space was large enough to accommodate us with the Adirondack chairs, porch swing, and sitting wall that wraps around the firepit so we could all enjoy the warmth of the fire. I highly recommend Crazybirds and visiting the City of Southport!

We we enjoyed our short stay. Property is nice however there is no living space to gather. Media room is small and is not a good space for adults or smaller children.

The location is great and a nice property
Issues
- Did not expect to have to make all the beds upon arrival.
- Pillows are all flat - please upgrade
- all the mattresses (except for the King) need to be replaced. They are great for kids but not for adults
- No living room - must have missed that in the description.

The description of this is deceiving. It’s a nice house, but the layout is weird. When I spend this kind of money, I do have certain expectations. Like after driving over 10 hours to reach the house, we discover that we have to make all the beds and the floors were dirty as can be. Black feet after less than hour of trying to get the house ready for ourselves. There was also very little cleaning supplies in the house, so I couldn’t even mop the floors. 3 bedrooms are on the first floor, which we planned on having our 3, 6, and 14 year old sleep in. The master is upstairs, along with the kitchen, so you always are climbing steps when you bring groceries or anything in. There were HUGE roaches in 2 of the bedrooms downstairs that we killed throughout the week, so clearly our children slept upstairs with us. There is no living room to hang out in. There is a tiny “theater room” that is covered in carpet, is very uncomfortable, and smells like pee. That’s where we did hang out as a family to watch a movie or just the kitchen table to play games. Many closets and cabinets are locked so you don’t have access to much storage. The outside area is also TINY and had 2 chairs by the fire pit, so there’s no outside area to hang out on either. The 2 porches don’t function as really good hang outs. I was told there was a beach within walking distance. This is not the case. You have to drive 15-20 minutes away for a beach experience. This was the most frustrating part because with 3 kids, we bring all our gear (which none are provided with this rental) and then have to haul it all to the beach. I would have just rented a place on the beach for the same money had the owner been more transparent about that. They also list that they provide beach towels in the listing and they do not… you can rent them for the week. The pool: The pool is a very small shared pool with everyone in the entire neighborhood. 2 families there and it’s crowded. This is a mostly residential area and neighbors clearly do not like the fact that this is available as a rental. We were informed by a neighbor that they were never supposed to be rented out when they were built and those who moved there did so for retirement or as a second home. So, it never feels good when you know the neighbors don’t want you there. We are big travelers and this didn’t measure up to us feeling like we got the best experience for the money with so many discrepancies of the listing and inconveniences.

Overall, we really enjoyed the house and the location. The fire pit in the back was lovely and we enjoyed playing corn hole by the pool. The upstairs deck was a peaceful and cozy area for morning coffee and relaxation. There are tons of excellent restaurants/bars within walking distance and also many supplies to cook at home with.
We had a few cons regarding our stay. We were unable to find the king sheets until the second night due to them being in the dirty laundry bag by the door( we had to wash them of course). The house had a few cockroaches, but that is understandable due to being in the south and them being all over outside. We also didn’t realize the pool wasn’t in the backyard, but shared by multiple houses on the block. However, we did get lucky and had the pool to ourselves the two times we went. We also wished there was a better living area to hang out in. Overall would recommend staying.

We rented crazy birds for our daughter and her bridesmaids. The place was perfect for them and the hosts quickly addressed any items that we had questions on. It was a great stay!

Was a great time lived the house. There were times I didn’t love those steps! Homeowners helped with all the questions I had. Would recommend to all ages.

We had a great time staying at Crazy Birds, but had a few complaints. First and foremost, we saw multiple cockroaches during our stay, on the upstairs porch and in a downstairs bedroom..!! Second, we were never able to find beach towels that were advertised as included, and there were no extra rolls of paper towels or toilet paper to be found anywhere. But we enjoyed the proximity to the little downtown area and the beautiful view from the upstairs porch. Thank you for your hospitality!

We will definitely stay here again.

We were all impressed with the cleanliness and location! The community pool was nice and short walk to town was really nice. We did miss having a living room area but that is the only negative we had.

We really enjoyed our stay in your home. Let me tell you though when you are first bringing in all your goods... Lord that is a leg workout getting it all up to the beautiful kitchen. The granbabies loved our Massive shower in our bedroom , as did we! Have to say slightly disappointed in a few things. Upstairs floor was dirty and all our feet were black after first night. There was minimal cleaning supplies in case there is a splill.. everything is behind locked doors. We ended up running out of towels and i did do a load of laundry and when i went to dry them i could not get the dryer to work .We ran out of toilet paper and trash bags early the 2nd day there, which I am not sure what the recommendation is on all that. And finally my son told me the 2nd day that he didn't have sheets on his bed, so we looked in the cabinets downstairs and only found more towels. So he made it work and here last day we find a bag of linens in the corner downstairs near the closet with games, so wasn't sure we were supposed to make our own beds. Other than this we enjoyed ourselves very mush and made some amazing memories ❤️! Thank u for opening your home to me and my family

House was so nasty we spent hours cleaning. Refrigerator and dryer did not work. No living room and the pool was shared with 38 other units. Owner never addressed any issues and was very rude.. I will never stay here or book anything with vrbo ever again. Southport was a beautiful place and we enjoyed the beaches, shopping and the restaurants.
