** 1922 Grand Italian Revival Home in Pasadena Landmark District**. Short Term Rental Permit SRU2019-00068
Step back in time into this wonderful and impressive historic home in Pasadena. Built in 1922, but with upgrades both inside and outside the home, this welcoming and large 4 bedroom, 3 and half bathroom Italian Revival home is located in the wonderful Historic Highlands Landmark District of Pasadena.
The Historic Highlands neighborhood is an impressive neighborhood known for its large homes and lots. Several homes surrounding our property represent the true diversity of the now famous Pasadena architecture – from Craftsman, Italian Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival to English Tudor.
You enter the home by following the grand lighted steps from the street to a wide and welcoming front porch silhouetted by beautiful white rose bushes and two white birch trees. You’ll find welcoming rocking chairs that just might keep you from entering the home. But once inside, you’ll be transported back in time to the Pasadena of yesterday with modern day conveniences.
The foyer with backset French doors lead you to either the grand staircase upstairs or proceed left to the formal living room or right to the family room. Let’s start with the formal living room. Enter the room and you are immediately drawn to the large mantle and beautiful gas fireplace with period Batchelder tile surround. Batchelder was a famous tile maker from the early 20’s in Pasadena and many period homes are graced with his fine work. The room features a grand piano and sophisticated seating perfect for adult conversation, reading or simply a peaceful respite from your hectic day.
The formal living room leads to a stunning and formal dining room with wonderfully large windows on the side with views of a mature camphor tree and camellia bushes. A simply gorgeous crystal chandelier hangs over the impressive oval wood table that seats 8 in seating that is both elegant and comfortable. The vintage Asian influenced hutch with beveled glass is the perfect accent to the room. Enjoy fine dining or entertaining your family and friends in this room that has French doors leading to your private outdoor oasis.
Step outside onto the brick patio with impressive outdoor, wood burning fireplace with tile surround that matches the Batchelder tile of the living room and you might not want to go back inside. Take a seat in one of the wicker chairs in front of the fire, or perhaps have your meal at the wrought iron dining room table with glass top. Your outdoor kitchen, complete with large stainless-steel BBQ hooked up to the gas line and refrigerator make outdoor entertaining a breeze.
Step up to the recently remodeled and heated saltwater pool and spa and enjoy a swim or simply relax in one of many comfortable chairs or chaise lounge chairs poolside. Off the garage to the side of the pool is a bathroom so you do not need to enter the house when you are spending your time outside.
Covering nearly .32 acres the grounds are beautifully landscaped and accented with lighting in both the front and rear yards. The home has a large grassy yard beyond the pool surround by a rose garden and several fruit trees including lemon, avocado, Meyer lemon, and more.
You can reenter the home through the French doors to the dining room or through the side door that leads to the kitchen. Before the kitchen there is a full bathroom with shower and toilet. To the left is the laundry room with washer and dryer.
The updated kitchen with new stainless-steel appliances and marble counter tops is stocked with everything you need for cooking. Off the kitchen are both a butlery’s pantry with sink and marble tile and an eat-in kitchen area with large, six seat dining table perfect for having your casual meals or for playing cards/board games at night.
Off the eat-in kitchen area is the casual living room area with comfy sofa; two candy striped club chairs and a large 50 in flat screen TV with DVR. Watch a movie or just relax in comfort in this welcoming room perfect for relaxation.
Head upstairs to four (4) generously proportioned bedrooms and two (2) 2012 new bathrooms. The master bedroom has an in suite bathroom with rain shower and heated lighting for those cool mornings in the winter. The master bedroom has an eastern king bed, the other three have queen mattresses. Each of the four bedrooms include their own 32” flat screen TV, two bathrobes, iron, ironing board, fan. The north facing bedroom has its own terrace with absolutely stunning views of the majestic San Gabriel mountains.
There is gated parking for at least three cars, however the driveway can easily accommodate five cars.
Other recent improvements to the home include dual Central Air conditioning systems, copper plumbing, earthquake retrofitting, and 200 amp Electrical panel.
The home is fully furnished and all linens and towels are provided for your use. All guests are welcomed to the home with a bottle of red and white wine and chocolates. We also offer a guest information book with our personal recommendations for restaurants in Pasadena and the surrounding area.

This lovely home in Pasadena was perfect for my family’s visit. The home was clean and just as it was pictured in the listing. The hosts did not miss a detail, right down to the chocolates in every room. The backyard was such a peaceful retreat after busy days of sightseeing.

This place was awesome. Very well staged for a vacation home with all the amenities provided. The owners have excellent design taste including their artwork and chotzies. Many unique areas inside and outside to sit and enjoy the day. Plenty of sunshine coming through the windows. The saltwater pool and hot tub were fantastic as well. The neighborhood was wonderful with beautiful homes to view on our daily walks. We even joined the July 4th neighborhood parade.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this VRBO in Pasadena for New Year's, and I can't express enough how much I enjoyed my time there.
The house had a delightful, cozy feel to it that made me feel right at home. Not only was it cute and aesthetically pleasing, but it was also impeccably clean, which is always a top priority for me when choosing accommodations.
One of the standout aspects of this VRBO was the wonderful host. They were incredibly welcoming which added a personal touch to our stay.
The amenities offered at the house were nothing short of incredible. The kitchen was fully stocked, making it easy to prepare meals and enjoy them in the cozy dining area. The living space was comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Pasadena.
One of the highlights of our stay was the outdoor space. The VRBO had a beautiful backyard with a well-maintained pool/spa and a lovely patio area. It was an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening while soaking in the serene ambiance.
The location of the property was a big plus. It was conveniently located near the Rose Bowl, which was our main reason for visiting Pasadena. The ease of access to the stadium made our New Year's celebration and Rose Bowl experience even more enjoyable.
I can't speak highly enough of this VRBO. If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Pasadena, I wholeheartedly recommend this VRBO – it's an absolute gem, and I will definitely stay there again.

Our stay was wonderful. Came into town to go to a football game at the Rose Bowl. Truly enjoyed this beautiful home in a quiet Pasadena neighborhood. The patio, pool and hot tub were relaxing and provided a much-needed break for us. Russ was very helpful and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend this location and hope to come back for future football games!

Perfect stay
Our second time here and loved it just as much as the first time. Great location. Such a lovely old home that has been renovated, still in keeping with its original design. All sorts of thoughtful touches and amenities throughout. Easy communication with host. All in all, worth every penny.

Top of our list
We travel each year to the Pasadena area to enjoy Santa Anita. This is our second time to enjoy this house and it’s now a family favorite. Beautiful house in a great area, comfortable beds and plenty of bathrooms. Add in a backyard with a pool and outdoor fireplace to enjoy on beautiful evenings and you can see why we are hooked. Thanks to Russ, the host for being so kind as to share the place. Exceptional!

In town for a music fest.
The owner Russ had to stop by and we ended up chatting a bit. He was very friendly and gave us some great info on the area.
It's a very nice property. If your plan is to party hard (ours wasnt) I would avoid this place, as there are rules about quiet times, but they're not unreasonable for a house with neighbors.
My only real complaints are that I had to clean the grill before it was used, and that checkout requires that you wash all the beach towels and clean the kitchen even though you're paying a substantial cleaning fee. The only thing his maid service had to do was change the sheets.
The booklets provided by Russ were full of information on local eats and things to do in the area, and the wine and chocolates waiting at our arrival were a nice touch.
I would definitely stay here again for a quiet getaway.

Fantastic Stay in Pasadena
My multi-generational family had a fantastic vacation at Russ's property. The house was beautiful and well-maintained, and provided a welcoming home base for us as we explored Pasadena and the surrounding areas. The beds were comfortable, the pool area lovely, and the property overall was even better than we expected! Russ provided a handbook full of information about the house and the Pasadena area and was easy to contact during our visit. We'd definitely consider booking Russ's property again if our travels take us to Pasadena.

Relaxing Stay in an Interesting Neighborhood
Well lit and welcoming on arrival. Wood ready for an evening fire..Good instructions and recommendations provided and our host was very responsive and helpful. LOVED our visit to Altaeats! ….And Millies a short walk away ..became regulars!
Lovely backyard to enjoy but nice hikes and neighborhood walks close by. Fabulous visit to the Huntington Library and Gardens .
Wonderful place to relax with family…might suggest upgrading pots and pans and back yard BBQ but hardly used as so many nice neighborhood choices and take out available. …much more fun! Would love to return!!!

A Great Family Christmas Gathering on Elizabeth Street
This charming home was the perfect setting to bring our family together and celebrate the holiday under one roof! The layout of the house was perfect, good sized bedrooms and oversized bathrooms to accommodate six adults, two infants, and a 3-year-old. Heck, we even brought two of the family dogs, plenty of room for all. The kitchen was well equipped! We enjoyed the entire home!! Although it rained during our trip, we still managed to enjoy the jaccuzzi and the pool which was heated. The long driveway accommodated all 4 cars. We took the babies on walks in the beautiful neighborhood. This home was perfect and we look forward to our next visit. We knew that Russ, the owner was just a call away if we needed anything, BUT we didn't need a thing. We highly recommend this beautiful home!!

Thanksgiving in Pasadena
Everything was better than expected as we walked through the property and home! No disappointments here. This was the perfect setting for gathering in the afternoons and evenings after spending the day in the LA area. From our first contact with Russ to the very last day he was helpful in every way. The location was perfect close to grocery markets, coffee shops and highways getting around sunny Cali! Perfect spot for a family Thanksgiving!! We can’t wait to return and enjoy more time in Pasadena!

The host provided such a wonderful experience for my fiancé and I who needed a place to stay during our wedding weekend in Pasadena. The house was so beautiful, spacious, and so many amenities that came along with it. We wished we could have stayed there much longer. New found gem, in a beautiful neighborhood
My family stayed a week at this beautiful 1922 home. The decor was beautiful, yet the home felt extremely comfortable. It had everything that we needed throughout the home plus a few unexpected additions ( Wine, chocolates shampoo and bathrobes). The backyard was wonderful, as we planned to just stay at the home all week to rest, relax, play games and chat. Russ, the owner was very attentive and responded quickly. This home is in an ideal location for me and my family. Everyone said they would love to come and stay a few more times in the future.

Our family completely enjoyed our week at this property. The description and pictures in the posting are accurate. The house is charming with plenty of space for our party of 7, and the pool was thoroughly enjoyed. The neighborhood is quiet and comfortable. My daughter and I felt completely safe running in the area -- one morning even ran all the way to the Rose Bowl (about 3 miles) which was a fun adventure. Millie's restaurant is a short walk down the street for a great breakfast, and Stater's grocery store is a very short drive. The Huntington Museum, Norton Simon Museum, and shopping on Colorado Blvd are all within easy drives. Highly recommended house for anyone looking for an upscale house in Pasadena.

Beautiful property!
We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed this property. The house itself is clean, cozy, and inviting. The neighborhood is great for taking walks with many historic homes and mature trees, and also has a few great restaurants and coffee shops that are within walking distance. But the backyard really takes the cake. The outdoor patio with the pergola and fire place allow you to spend entire days and evenings outside. The pool and jacuzzi are perfect for warm summer days and cool evenings. We can’t wait to come back for our next stay!
