Enjoyed the house and the lake. Very Nice location.

A really great property on a fantastic part of the lake. The house was spacious and the kitchen was very well stocked as other reviews stated. There were details that went above and beyond - hand soaps were provided at every sink. Spice cabinet was full, and so much more was provided in the kitchen than a usual rental. So many size options for life jackets, 2 canoes, a nice dock and great swimming cove! We loved the fact that there were so many steps from the dock to the house which kept us in shape even on vacation. The lake is so clean and clear and it was definitely worth having a boat rental for the week! We had one day of rain so the chess table, ping pong table and checkers were heavily used. Highly recommend and we would definitely like to go back sometime!

2nd Stay - Amazing!!!
This is the best house on the lake! We have been coming to the lake 10+ years. Three families from three different states.
Plenty of space for all! We have stayed at this house before and there have been several wonderful additions to the house (was spectacular before). Updated bathrooms, new furniture (although not needed), lots of games, water floats, life jackets, canoe, kitchen accessories (anything you need), bottom floor set for teenagers, college students or young kids (lots to do for entertainment). Pull right up to the front door and bring groceries in on flat ground. View of the lake spectacular sitting on screened in back porch for grandparents that can't make it down to the lake! Can't say enough wonderful things about this house and the owners!

Fantastic!!
The location of the house, the view, the lake, from the beginning (reservation) to the end it was a great experience, Mike (owner) was always a message away from us to help. We rented a boat from the marina for our stay (a must to fully enjoy the lake), very peaceful, a great place to recharge energy and connect with nature!!

Lovely lake home
This was a great place to stay. The house is stocked well, clean, and also comfortable. We had a nice quiet relaxing winter week, spent Christmas with three generations by the wonderful fireplace. The only thing I would add for winter renting is a hot tub, but that is not completely necessary either. Thanks so much.

Wonderful lake front home
The home is located on a beautiful lake, and we enjoyed taking the canoe out in the evening. The property is close to great hiking as well. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, this is it. Of course, the quiet and calm means you are an hour drive to highland. There is a small restaurant nearby, otherwise you will cook in which we enjoyed. The home is large and comfortable. The owner is making a few update that will make the property even better.

Topton lake house
Enjoyed our stay on Lake Nantahala. Home was well stocked with plenty of space. Driveway was one of the better (easy to navigate) ones in the neighborhood. Would definitely recommend to others.

Child delight, up stairs and down, water toys, boats, fun for all familyily
This spacious 3 level home offered 3 separate accommodations for the 3 families.2 laundry rooms made it convenient .Lots of quiet corners for reading or quiet play for small children.Plenty of space for little ones to chase each other. Huge couches offered ample spaces for more play and of course for adults to sit comfortably to enjoy a fire..Walls of windows offered magnificent views, kitchen is spacious for 4+ cooks to work together.Stairs inside and especially to the dock provided strengthening exercise to make up for absence at the gym. The children enjoyed the toys, and especially the paddle boat and kayak provided.. The grill on the deck was large enough to cook plenty of chicken for all 11 of us.We rented a pantoon for the week and took 3 trips daily. Sunset cruises were beautiful with full moon. The lake offers so many activities...swing from a rock, waterfall walks even my 80 yr. old spouse managed to climb, jump from a high rock, fishing for trout and bass was very rewarding on a river near by. The marina rents tubes to pull children on. Kids said this was like a great dream they woke up from. Our family has memories to remember a lifetime of pure fun and delight.

Great Family Vacation!
Driftwood Cove was the perfect spot for our family vacation. The family group included grandparents, adult children and grandchildren. The layout of the house was comfortable and the view was spectacular. The downstairs was a perfect spot for the children to play games and to just hangout when we weren't enjoying the lake. The dock is tucked away in a cove which provides a safer spot for the kids to swim and to ride around on the paddle boat provided. I highly recommend renting a boat from Lakes End Marina for at least part of your stay. That was a big hit with everyone in the family. One of the highlights was hiking up to a waterfall on the lake that you can only reach by boat. There are a lot of steps down to the dock but it didn't bother anyone in our family. It's easy to stop and take a breather at the landings if needed. We hope to return again in the future.

Great time
We had a fabulous time! House was laid out so age groups could separate. Great game area, nice steps to dock and loved the screened in porch. Would go again!

Fantastic view, but that's it! Owner not responsive to complaint!
We received an email after booking, from the host asking if it was ok if one of the main floor bathrooms could be grouted while we were there. Given what we paid for 4 nights, we wanted the place to ourselves and replied we would prefer no-one else at the house.
This place is advertised as 4 bathrooms, we expected the bathrooms to be functioning. We arrived to discover it was not mere grouting, both bathrooms on the main floor were being remodeled. One bathroom was completely unusable with a pipe sticking out of the ceiling where the shower should be, obviously no shower faucet, visible wiring which my 5 year old attempted to grab and play with. The second bathroom on that floor included bare drywall in the shower, outside of the shower and again exposed electrical wires.
In the main bedroom on the top floor there was a pillow sticking out of the wall/ceiling where someone was attempting to make the other side of the wall a washroom. That's right, you did not miss-read - a pillow!!!
Before we chose this house, we read the reviews. One guy mentioned cobwebs. The owner contacted us to state that the house had been cleaned before we got there. Needless to say there were cobwebs on the ceiling and ants (the large kind) literally everywhere on the main floor and a few upstairs in the kids bedroom. Some were dead and had been there for a while..
The fridge-freezer hadn't obviously been replaced in some years as it wasn't cooling properly. The front of it (water dispenser) had a couple of screws holding it on.
On the first day my wife sent three text messages highlighting the items we were finding saying "we had some concerns". We received a text message stating "if you wish to leave, let me know, I am not offering any further discounts, you are looking for things to be wrong". We hadn't received any discount, mentioned refunds or money at that time so were literally astonished. We decided to get on with things as we were 600 miles from home. I called him and spoke about the fact that we were merely providing feedback, he offered an extra day which we accepted. We then got back to the house to hear he had called the house and spoken to my mother in law and stated that we were "harassing" him. The final straw, we decided to leave on the Friday planned (just before he texted saying the extra day was a no go).
Beware, the host is very difficult and the house inside is an equivalent 2 * hotel. Photos anyone?

Great Vacation Home
We loved our vacation at Driftwood Cove. My husband & I came with our three adult children, son’s girlfriend, daughter’s husband and 2 grandsons, aged 4 & 18 months. The home had plenty of space for all of us to enjoy. We loved the canoe and paddle boat and sitting on the dock enjoying the fall colors. We played games in the basement and living room and cooked all our meals in the house. We watched two football games (Go Chicago Bears!) and movies. We hiked, so many beautiful hikes in the area with waterfalls, many easy enough for the 4 year old and my daughter with the 18 month old in a backpack. (Check out All Trails App) We rented a boat from Nantahala Shores Boat Rentals. They brought the boat the night before and picked it up in the evening. The lake is calm and easy to get around. We hiked the falls across the lake twice, going up further the second time to a beautiful waterfall. We went twice to Wayah Bald observation tower, gorgeous views! On a rainy day, we went to Nantahala Outdoor Center, stopping first to get coffee at Cardinal Coffee in Bryson City - a bit further than NOC, but worth it! We got used to the winding roads we would be driving for the week on our way in, driving the Tail of the Dragon US129, that was a surprise! So fun to drive and see the motorcycles and cars driving this roadway. We planned for a long drive to the grocery store by bringing food for the first day and then going to the store the second day. The scenery in the area is beautiful and the home was great. Thanks, Karen & Mike!

Beautiful Lake, Comfortable and Spacious House
The location is toward the back of a quiet cove and the view is spectacular. The house was very comfortable for our family of 11, which included ages from 9-68. I especially loved the screened in porch overlooking the lake. We rented a boat from Nantahala Lake Marine and highly recommend this company. Although we loved every minute of this trip, it may not be for everyone. Note that there are 70+ steps from the house down to the dock, the drive to the house is on a narrow, winding road, and the driveway is very steep. For our family, none of these points mattered because the privacy and beauty of the area made this vacation one of our favorites. The house was not as clean as other rentals we have used in the past. The cookware was very worn and not of good quality, so I suggest bringing your own if you plan to cook meals in the home. The oven was in dire need of cleaning. That being said, the local house manager was very kind and checked in on us a few times during the week. He was aware of the items we felt were in need of cleaning and repair. We would consider renting this home again in the future.

One of my favorite rentals
This is the second time we’ve stayed on this property. The house is clean, well-equipped, and the owners are helpful and communicative. The location of this house on Lake Nantahala is also pretty prefect. From here one can easily canoe to both ends of the lake. Across the lake is Forest Service land, so your view is unobstructed by other houses. The availability of a canoe, paddles, and PFDs lets you travel light. There are also lots of beds in the house so invite family and friends to enjoy this idyllic retreat with you!

September 2019
Our nephew's wedding was the main purpose of our vacation at Lake Nantahala. This property was the perfect choice as it was only a few miles from the venue.
The house was nicely furnished and well equipped. We enjoyed use of the canoe, paddle boat and ping pong table. Most of all we enjoyed being in such a peaceful location surrounded by nature. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we ever have had.

Quietude
We spent two delightful weeks at driftwood cove In early August to escape the heat in Tampa. We entertained family and friends and had as many as four couples for two nights. Plenty of room, cool temperatures and great views of the lake and the beautiful mountains. Must be spectacular in the fall. We’ve vacationed at all the nearby lakes and the lack of development around Nantahala is a wonderfully distinguishing characteristic. With that comes the downside of exciting mountain driving and far away shopping and restaurants. We came prepared based on the property description, and although we missed going out to dinner occasionally, we had a collection of wonderful cooks and some lively dinner debates that would undoubtedly have been inappropriate in a public space. Take your pick.
The house is beautiful, spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed a couple of fires just because we could, but it really wasn’t cool enough most nights. The wood burning fireplace is a rare treat I seek out, and it would be perfect in cooler weather. Lots of firewood suppliers in and around Andrews.
We fished twice with a local guide with poor results. I think the water temperature (76-78) slowed things down.
If you’re looking for cool quietude, driftwood cove is worth a visit. Good memories.

GREAT Stay! Year 6
We have been at Lake Nantahala for several years. This was the largest house we rented. House was excellent and had everything we needed. Plenty of room so everyone had space. Downstairs gaming area was Fabulous! Driveway was the best of all the ones we rented. We were right at front door with groceries which was FABULOUS! Parked 2-3 cars no problem. Location was perfect as we always stay right on the water and like to be in area where water is moving and not inlet where it can be stale so this house was great! Grandparents were able to sit on screened in porch and take in the sights. Stairs are a killer but worth it! Hope to be back next year!

Great family vacation
My family and I had a GREAT time at the Driftwood Cove lake house. The house and the lake were awesome!!!! There is nothing like waking up in the morning and having coffee on the porch of the house over looking the lake gearing up for the rest of the day. We rented a pontoon boat and a jet ski for the week from Lakes End Marina and the lake house came with a canoe, the kids nor the adults were ever bored and the lake is crystal clear. Over all a GREAT vacation.

Beautiful Lake House
This might be one of the most picturesque places I've ever stayed. The lake and all the trees are stunning. The house is perfect and decorated very well. The owners have made sure everything thing you need is available. If you're looking for anytype of family getaway I highly recommend this place. We would love to make it back someday.

Zen mode activated.
If you're really looking to stay far far from civilization, this is the place. Be prepared to drive a minimum of 30 minutes to the closest anything. But don't let that scare you. The views and the house is well worth every penny.

Great house for a big family!
This is a great place for a large family . We always enjoy rentals with multiple living spaces so folks can spread out. The ping pong table was a hit since none of us had played in years. Great views. Kitchen very well stocked with everything you need. We will definitely return & stay longer.
2.5
The house was wonderfully spacious and well equipped for our group of 12 people. There were plenty of beds and private spaces for us to have our own little heaven. The finished basement was a welcomed surprise and provided two televisions during bad weather. The cove was wonderful and peaceful. Every morning we could see the midst rising from the mountains. Just across the lake via kayaks, or the canoe provided by the home, was a hidden waterfall that was so peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this home and on the lake!

Driftwood Cove had everything we needed and wanted and more. The sunsets were absolutely breathtaking and the Dock was so much fun for our girls. Lots of space and privacy. We can't wait to book again and bring our boat.

Really nice home right on the lake. The great room windows provide a gorgeous view of the water, a beautiful fireplace and a huge, comfy couch. The house is well equipped, clean. Part of the deck is screened in and nicely furnished. You'll want to sit and read, and enjoy the view. Beds are super comfortable. Great basement space for kids to hang out, play ping pong. Lots of steep steps to the water, but we got our canoe down and back up; great dock. There were some ants in the kitchen, but not really a problem. Overall, wonderful place to enjoy the lake and the woods.
The Wayah Bald is worth the drive...amazing view.

5-star Location
The location is remote and beautiful. Gorgeous mountains cascading down into a beautiful lake. It takes a lovely long and winding mountain road to get to the house. The lake is massive, incredibly fun, and has a marina (Lake's End) that will rent boats and has a delicious restaurant. The only downside (or upside, depending on your perspective) is that there is no cell service in the area for many miles.
3-star house
The house is very attractive. There are 3 adult bedrooms and 1 bunk room with 5 twin beds. The TV room and dining area are comfortable and have a great view of the lake. There are many downsides, though. The driveway is steep on both sides and there's not much room for parking. The house sits high above the lake and there are 74 steps down to the lake (you will have burning thighs after each trip up to the house). The kitchen was not well-outfitted. In particular, there were all of 3 wine glasses, the knives were so dull they were unusable and the refrigerator was falling apart. There is a semi-finished basement but it has really old furniture and a cement floor so it is not a space where anyone wanted to spend time. There were ants all over the kitchen and bathrooms, notes from previous renters about the ants, and the owner was defensive about the problem when contacted. The HVAC was not working properly and we had to do some maintenance on it and, again, the owner did not seem concerned. There is no garbage service and we had to place our garbage bags on the downstair balcony in cans which made the balcony smelly, useless and kind of gross as we walked by it to and from the dock.
2-star Hospitality
The owner advertises that the house has internet and wi-fi but what he does not say is that it is available by satellite only for a fee of $10 per MB. We spent the entire week trying to conserve our usage because we were so afraid of the fees. The house is not supplied well (one towel per person, very little toilet paper or other basics) and the nearest grocery is 30 minutes away. The dryer takes ages to work. The garbage situation was exacerbated by the fact that, apparently, the owner expected us to haul our garbage to the dump and sent us an annoyed message after we left that the cleaning people had to haul our garbage and then he charged us a $35 hauling fee.
Summary
The owner is offering a luxury house but treating guests like budget travelers.

We loved our stay. The views were breathtaking! The open plan was great for our family. It was very clean and tastefully decorated. Great decks and and nice grill! The lake was amazing. Awesome place for kayaking, boating and fishing. Waterfall and hiking. First time visiting here and will definitely be back.

We did enjoy our vacation to the mountains.
However we were disappointed in the vacation home. There were many things in the home that were damaged or broken upon arrival. We were to notify the owner and he had a way of justifying everything reported. I would have expected things that were broken or damaged to have been replaced or fixed properly. I thought that we paid for more than what we actually got.
The house was listed with a paddle boat which was not there. The pictures of the listing also had a rope swing described conviently located right across the cove which was no longer there as well. The kids were very excited about and expecting these items which were not available. While these things may be unavoidable, the listing should be updated to reflect the changes.
The road into the home was a very narrow one lane gravel road with two way traffic which was a little tricky at times.
We did catch a few fish and got to enjoy swimming off the dock. The lake and mountain view was great. Despite the flaws it as a nice time spent with family.
