Grand Mayan
I love the Grand Mayan for a family trip. This is a HUGE resort with lots of restaurants, pools and things to do. They are great providing accessibility for those with limited mobility. Great family vacation spot!

Vidanta
Vidanta is a beautiful resort and we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Mayan. The room was large and nicely appointed, however we had a view of the parking lot which was disappointing. Don’t wait until last minute to make dinner plans as reservations for the week fill up quickly and you can only use the pools at Grand Mayan. Maria was easily accessible and provided a lot of helpful information about the resort and surrounding areas. She generously offered our family 10 free rounds of golf and 2 for 1 massage which we really enjoyed.

Paradise!
I had been to Vidanta prior to this trip. It was a fantastic vacation and we took full advantage of all the amenities that came with renting from the Carsten’s. Loved our massages!! I highly recommend it!

Paradise Found
Beautiful resort in Nuevo Vallarta. Loved our stay at the Grand Mayan, relaxing poolside and enjoying the lazy river and beach. Activities for those who want them. Spacious rooms with plenty of amenities.
Dean and Marie were fantastic to deal with any I would rent from them again.

Professional owners, great resort
Excellent property managers who were extremely helpful and responsive! Provided a summary document with helpful tips that covered almost any questions we could think of. Answered all of my emails in a timely fashion and tried to accommodate all of my asks. Our family really enjoyed our time at this resort!

Wonderful stay
We just returned from a fabulous week at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our two teenage boys. The weather was perfect, the unit was as described, and the beach was amazing. We also enjoyed many of the off – site restaurants that the owners recommended. Wonderful week!

Excellente vacation at the Grand Mayan
This our second visit to Vidanta Neuvo Vallarta. The accommodations, staff, entertainment and food were 5 star. We would not stay anywhere else in Mexico. We highly recommend.

Amazing resort!
This Vidanta property in Nuevo Vallarta is a huge complex with numerous condo buildings, restaurants and swimming pools. Our unit was in the Grand Mayan section, which was perfect because it was close to the lazy river and some great pools, plus it was only a short walk to the beach. The onsite restaurants are all a bit pricey, so we loaded up on groceries from the nearby Wal Mart (only a short cab ride away), that way could look after our own breakfasts and lunches. And then for dinners, we usually took the 10 minute walk down the beach to the marina area where there are quite a few local places to eat with much more reasonable prices. The condo owners Dean and Maria were super responsive and helpful, would highly recommend them and this unit/location to anyone considering a trip to Nuevo Vallarta.

PERFECT FOR MULTI-FAMILY VACATION!
We ended up on the 8th floor at Grand Mayan facing the lagoon. Rental was central to all the amenities - lazy river, kids' center, wave pool, and Tiki slide! We had a 1 min walk to Samba everyday - if you opt for the resort meal plan - it's a great daily breakfast/brunch spot. Room itself was extremely spacious and flexible for a family traveling with 4 adults (each couple had their own room) + two kids. The pull out futons made it extremely easy for the common room to be fully functional for the group in 20 seconds! Our only gripe was the adjoining door to the suite that had its own bathroom. The lock was disengaged for duration of our visit. The lack of lock created a small privacy issue when getting ready for functions - but not a deal breaker. Dean and Maria's Vidanta How-To packet was both extremely useful and helpful. We avoided the time-share sellers with ease! Highly recommend!!

Grand Mayan unit
the Grand Mayan is a wonderful place to visit. The pools and lazy river are beautiful and refreshing. Children have a place to themselves with a wave pool and kiddie equipment. We enjoyed the sound of the ocean as we relaxed under the thatched palapas. The only criticism that we had was that the food was expensive for the quality. You can offset this by buying some simple provisions from the nearby Walmart, and using the cooking facility provided in the unit.

Nice place to rent, avoid the timeshare people
We stayed 4/8 to 4/15 at the Grand Mayan. The perk's from the Owner were great, the golf was limited to the Nicklaus course, but only cost the caddy fee.
The units are clean and a little dated, but very nice for 4 adults and two children (ages 8 and 5). The children loved the place and enjoyed the swimming pools and Lazy River.
We were offered a better view, a breakfast and a 10% discount on food and beverage if we went to a "timeshare presentation" for one hour, secured by $20 refundable deposit. After breakfast and a little over an hour, we told the salesperson we were not interested. The salesperson (Luis) told us we would not get our deposit back because we had not stayed for the whole presentation. We did not want to waste any more vacation time, figured the deposit covered the breakfast, and left.
The shuttle system takes some getting used to and we found that walking was just about as convenient. There are raised walkways throughout, no cars to worry about.
The beach is nice and we had no problem getting a palapa and service was very good.
The resort is huge and there are numerous restaurants, all a bit pricier than the local ones. The biggest problem is getting off site! You need to take a shuttle to the taxi stand, then a cab takes you almost into Puerto Vallarta (shortcut by the Mazda Dealership) to get to the Riviera Nayarit, because the did not make a ramp going West, only East. It's not expensive, usually 120 or 140 peso for the 6 of us, but it takes about 20 minutes. We found it easier to walk down the beach to Sea Garden, about a 10 minute walk, go through their lobby and get a Taxi or go to Eddie's Place or the Barracuda for dinner.
You may see negative reviews about the Grand Mayan, but most of those came from people that bought into timeshares. As a rental, it was quite nice - just avoid the salespeople. The hotel staff could not be nicer.

Wonderful trip with friends
We just returned from our stay at this property and we cant wait to go back. The resort is amazing and our 2 teenagers and our friends 2 teenagers were able to roam the property to do activities and have meals without us worrying about them at all. The owners were very helpful and very prompt in their communication as I was frantically trying to book a property just 9 weeks out , as I had already purchased plane tickets for the 8 of us. Thank you so much Maria and Dean! I appreciate your immediate replies to my many emails! The room was spacious , beautiful ,and had all that we needed. The concierge on our floor was super helpful for reservations, resort info. , info. for going into town, etc... The food was amazing and we are already missing the smoothies and all the restaurants we tried. Our favorite was Costa Arena: beachfront and amazing seafood. We are already saying we want to go back :-)

Wonderful family-friendly resort!
We just returned from a week at the Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta and had a wonderful time. We were two families travelling together - in total 4 adults, 2 toddlers and 1 baby. We booked a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen and it was great. The room was very spacious and well stocked. It was great having access to a full kitchen for those days when we just wanted to make grilled cheese sandwiches for our cranky and tired toddlers, rather than sitting at a restaurant. This resort is huge - with plenty of options to keep you busy during your stay. We loved that there were so many options for our 2 & 3 year olds. Several shallow pools, a wave pool that created a 'beach' atmosphere, the lazy river, the kids splash park area, and so much more. We could go somewhere different each day and never be bored. We loved the huge balcony for those days when one of us had to stay in the room because one of the kids was napping. Happy hour was great and the drinks were all high quality. Nothing is watered down at this resort. The food was amazing. We purchased a meal plan, which was great value, and allowed us to try several restaurants during our stay. The food at Costa Arena was fantastic for a date night, and we loved La Cantina for a more casual Mexican experience. Room service was great. We ordered pizza a few times, which was affordable and easy. We had superb service from every single staff member during our stay, and were very impressed overall. In terms of the booking itself, the owners were wonderful to deal with and provided us with so much great information prior to our departure. I would without hesitation book with them again! Thank you so much!! :)
