We were looking for a cabin not far from home and we found in Randy’s rustic cabin in Old Frontenac on Lake Pepin. What’s amazing is the property (not the cabin) was underwater because of flooding on the Mississippi River 3 weeks before we arrived. But the lawn was cleaned up, we parked the pontoon on the beach and moved into the cabin, which is older, but has a large living area and was very clean. There’s no TV reception, no internet and cell service for a spotty, but we loved it! Our 7 day stay was relaxing. There’s a nice fire pit and 4 golf courses nearby. We spent our days in the pontoon and our nights grilling and playing games. Randy was extremely good at communicating with us and making sure we had everything we needed. It was wonderful and we will be back.!

We understood some of issues with the river flooding. The first impression was bad. Entryway needed cleaning and paint was in I’ll repair. The grill was unusual dirty and needed some inner parts. Grill tools we’re discussing. Some the furniture was in disrepair. The view was wonderful and could be a top notch place. We did leave a note telling them about the issues.

The location was great. Enjoyed the view. It was unfortunate that the lake/river flooded prior to our stay, however, we were still able to enjoy the kayaks that were provided. It was also nice to bring our pets to enjoy the vacation. I think the place just needs a little repair, the windows facing the lake did leak a little when it rained/stormed the one night. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

Need to be condemned. Holes in the house. Trash and broken glass around the yard. House needs major repairs from inside and outside.

Great stay, host provided s’more making material and firewood. Great fishing and view of lake Pepin. My wife’s father grew up in Frontenac so it was a trip down memory lane. We loved hiking at the state park.

Looking for a place for a family gathering in Minnesota. Found this cabin on Lake Pepin. It is a rustic cabin right on the water. Fulfilled our housing needs and greatly enjoyed the scenery. Had campfires every night and enjoyed the array of wildlife present. We would look to rent here again if we are back in the area.

Wonderful time once again. Quiet peaceful cottage right on the river and very close to public beach. Fishing is always good in a boat or right from shore. Randy is very helpful and easy going. Cant wait till next year. Even with the flooding this spring Randy made sure the place was in order before our stay.

Randy’s place is the perfect cabin! It has all the amenities of home, but is rustic enough to know you’re on vacation. The location is perfect…on a quiet lagoon right on Lake Pepin. Plenty of room to sit, let the world pass you by and watch the eagles soar.

great property!! we knew the recent floods had effected the land, so we were fine. but would have been nice to be able to swim off shore. we were unable to as too many weeds. the cabin is a cabin and was as expected. we enjoyed our time. Randy communicated with us very well and was greatly appreciated.

Quaint cabin with a huge backyard and great view of the river.

The cabin smelled, was dirty, they had stacks of cushions (for outsude) on a table, old torn up bedding, torn chairs, had no 3 prong plugs to plug in the fireplace or anything else. There was something crawling in the walls. We stayed the first night because it was to late to find a place, but left the next morning. Just an awful experience

Lots of wood for the bonfire. Enjoyed toasting s’more‘s provided by the owner. Our 10 pound dog really enjoyed exploring the property. Great location with lots to do in Lake City and Redwing. Nice rustic cabin.

We were very excited for our stay at this little cabin. The pictures looked nice enough, and we weren’t expecting a palace by any means. The outside has a great big yard, but it’s a mess. The deck has a railing that’s falling off, there is junk piled all around, and half the furniture doesn’t have cushions. We booked this house in particular so the kids could play in the water while we sat and watched them. No such luck, the algae was horrible, not necessarily the owner’s fault, but it would have been nice to know that swimming was not an option. Inside the house is cluttered and cramped. The “queen” bed is not long enough for a 5’10” adult. The bedroom with two beds seems to have a box spring as a mattress for one of them. There are two sofa beds that pull out and one was ok, not comfortable, but ok, the other was broken as the bar at the head of the bed did not hold up. The toilet is the Las thing I will mention, the handle broke, so we had to take the tank cover off and flush it that way. The location was good, with a useable beach a very short drive away. We had a good time and the house has potential, just needs a good overhaul.

We had a great time on Lake Pepin! We fished and played golf. It was wonderful to have the grill and plenty of plates and utensils to cook dinner. Once you get here, it’s so relaxing, you really don’t want to leave. Thanks for a great place to stay for a quick getaway!

It was a great experience for my family and I. Great area, plenty of room for the 7 of us, nice large yard for kids and our pup to run around outside. Beach was close by and the fish were even closer. Nice and close to lake city if you need anything. Fresh market there. Randy was amazing and made sure we were accommodated with anything we needed. Look forward to spending next summers vacation at the Belmont on Pepin again.

Being close to the water was excellent. Mosquitos were awful this year, used a lot of bug spray.

Cute cabin!
Just what I love and expect from a lake cabin. Pretty views from cabin. Flat property making loading/unloading and walking back and forth from water to cabin easy. Beach for kids to entertain themselves. Clean, sandy water right out from beach. Great family fun!

Beautiful setting!
We wanted to get away from the cities for the weekend and this cabin was perfect. We spent a lot of time sitting on the beach and the deck, taking in the gorgeous view. Our dogs loved frolicking in the lake and running up and down the shoreline. If you bring your fur babies, just know the neighbor to the left does not appreciate dogs as much as you might hope (: It was a truly lovely and relaxing stay.
Accommodations and location were aces and Randy was a great host! Thank you so much, we will be back !
