This house is very quaint and in a perfect location
This house is very quaint and in a perfect location. The pool and the house are very clean. There are a LOT of electrical issues in this house - it definitely isn't safe for children (or probably adults). The lights don't work in many of the rooms so we had to use lamps instead. The knives in the kitchen are useless and need to be replaced. The washing machine is inefficient and should probably be replaced (it at least have proper instructions in several languages with it, but that won't make it work better). If you plug something in, the whole outlet comes out of the wall in several of the rooms. This house is in the country and had loads of bugs and mosquitos so the owner should provide bug spray which we had to go to town to buy. Our biggest problem was the owner! There was an unsafe light in one of the bedrooms that had clearly been glued together many times. My brother-in-law hit his head on it and it broke. He need first aid and had glass in his head. He reported this to the owner immediately (day 1). It was left in the room with sharp shards on it for 4 days, that is unacceptable and could have caused another accident. On the final day as we were enjoying our final sunset, the owner came and said that his wife thought that the light replacement would be about 150 Euros. No receipt, no conversation, nothing. I said no, the light was unsafe, had already been repaired multiple times and I wouldn't pay for it. My brother-in-law was injured and they never even asked how he was or if we needed directions to a doctor, nothing. The owners wife then came in, very angry, and told me that she didn't care if the light was dangerous or that someone was injured, we should pray for the light. I politely said no and she said she would take it up with the agency. This left a very, very bad impression. In another incident, bats flew into one of the other bedrooms one night and the owner didn't care about that either. It is a hot house with no air conditioning so the bedrooms with the windows closed are awful. But it's either heat or bats... This place could be wonderful bit needs lots of work! And I would NEVER rent from our recommend this owner.

The home is beautiful
The home is beautiful. They have done an amazing job keeping with the feel of a stone house built in the 1400's. It is well furnished and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook amazing meals. It is a country house and bugs are to be expected. I'm hoping that they will install screens on the windows to allow for you to keep the windows open in the evening. In August it was very hot and sleeping with the windows shut made it very difficult. They do have fans and I've recommended they purchase a few more. The views are stunning and the pool area is perfect to unwind after a long day.

We loved our stay in the San Donatino villa! The views are simply incredible, the villa has very large common areas that are perfect for big groups, and all amenities were provided as promised. The house did get a bit cold at night due to the lack of heating, so we would recommend having small heaters for all rooms. The location is great, easily accessible and very close to Castellina in Chianti. We would definitely recommend!
