About this cottage rental
Near Cascade Mountain Ski Resort, Devilshead, Christmas Mountain!!! Great XC skiing nearby at Lodi Area Ski Trails and at Mirror Lake State Park. Great place to come back to after a day of skiing for a soak soak in the hot tub with a GREAT view of nature!
Rent this nicely furnished cottage to enjoy the beauty of nature on the Wisconsin River and Lake Wisconsin in this rustic, yet cozy river/lake cottage. Beautiful views out the large living room windows look onto green islands, sandbars and the distant Baraboo Hills and the shores of the Wisconsin River as it opens up into Lake WI. Deck with great view of river and hills.
Conveniently located on shallow Lake Wisconsin waterfront with sandbars to wade to. Located between Madison and the Wisconsin Dells, just 1.5 hours from Milw and 3 hours from Chicago.
Bring some firewood (or buy it locally) and have a campfire in the firepit next to the water!
Watch crimson sunsets from the 16' x 25' deck or from a shady grove of maple trees at water's edge. Whether it's the knotty pine walls of the living room and kitchen, the view of sunset over the water from bed, or the wooden twin bunk bed in the second bedroom you’ll always feel cozy and welcome at Quietwater Cottage. You'll enjoy yourselves so much you'll be anxious to come for another visit!
There is so much for your family to see, so much to do year round in the area!
SPRING, SUMMER, FALL & WINTER Adventures! Green trees, sunny sand-bars, and a lazy river await you. Tucked off the main channel the cottage has the best of both worlds…easy assess to the big water, a great view of the water and sunsets, but little boat traffic. Because of our shallow waterfront location, the choice is yours, launch your boat at one of 3 nearby boat launchs and head left for Lake Wisconsin or go right for the Wisconsin River. You’ve got it all right here! You can launch your boat daily and spend an exciting day on the open water of the lake (too shallow to get a boat of any size into our channel but you can park your trailer in front at the end of the day) or a quiet day exploring the Dells-like bluffs and the nearby islands, coves, and backwaters in your canoe or kayak. The shallow water in front is perfect for kayaks and canoes. Explore the many channels, sandbars, and islands of the WI River and Lake WI. Relax with friends or family on the deck after a day canoeing or kayaking around the sandy tree-covered islands.
Enjoy shallow water fishing from the sandbar in front, from our canoe, or use a boat to hit several of the best local fishing spots all within 5 minutes of the cottage: The Narrows, Fockes Bluffs, Tipperary Bluffs, and Camp Rest Park. Good fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Catfish, Largemouth, Crappie and more.
The cottage has a green lawn for yard games or for kids to run around in, plus just a block away is a park with playground equipment and wading beach, perfect for small children and dogs. Tennis and basketball courts are just a mile up the road. Bike riding opportunities on winding country roads in the area are fantastic. Up for a challenge? Circle Lake Wisconsin on your bike, it's about a 50-60 mile trip with a free ferryboat crossing as a highlight!
This two bedroom, one bathroom house has a small but full kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with most anything you’ll need to prepare any meal you like…or grill out on waterside deck on the gas grill! Feeling lazy? Kick back and enjoy the 46” flat screen LCD HDTV....relax on the deck, sip a drink, even surf the web, and watch the river go by!
Beautiful views out the large living room windows and across the 16’x25’ deck look onto green, sandy islands and the undeveloped distant shores of the Wisconsin River as it opens up into Lake Wisconsin.
FALL & WINTER FUN! After the summer crowds leave you’ll find unique beauty and tranquility on the river. Tucked in among the surrounding bluffs and hillsides you’ll find gorgeous fall colors and dazzling winter scenery. Hundreds of wooded acres across the street are home to the Red Bellied Woodpecker, Wild Turkey, and White Tailed Deer, while the ever-changing river offers views of Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Beaver, and Muskrat. Scenic drives in all directions make interesting day trips more fun! Many nearby day-trip possibilities including the Wollensheim Winery, Wisconsin Dells, Devil's Lake State Park, Baraboo Circus World Museum, and so much more. Nearby ski hills include Cascade Mountain (15 min) and Devilshead Lodge (30 min).
So much to see and so much to do! Relaxing!

Very nice cottage, has everything you need, it was difficult to get around in the boat being on a sandbar, had great fish fry at Anchors at the Lakeside!

We had a great stay in the cabin. The view is always a treat, and the hot tub on the cabin is perfect for chilly evenings. Lighting a fire in the pit outside was pretty difficult as it was full of ash and the wood was wet (nothing to protect it from rain). The heat in the cabin is only in the central room, which was okay in 40-50 degree weather, but might be chilly in the winter. Overall a great stay though, with plenty of touches to make it feel homey.

The location and charm was on point and exactly what was advertised. We both loved the property and the experience of staying here next to the lake entrance - hot tub, fire pit, bird watching: what more could you ask for! Excellent distance from hiking.

We enjoyed our stay here over Labor Day weekend. My 2 year old and baby enjoyed the beach area right on the property. It was sandy so they could play. Also the water was shallow so they could wade out in it. There was a fireplace with lots of wood, a big deck with a nice table and grill. They also have a hot tub on the deck with the nice view but we didn't get around to using it.

Our family of four had the best time here! Our girls ages 8 and 5 loved the bunk beds, hot tub and canoe/kayak adventures. The cabin had everything we expected and more. Loved watching the hummingbirds and every morning a doe and her fawn would wade across the river. Loved every second and can’t wait to return!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at this lovely location! Despite the crazy weather and some parts of the area being flooded, we had an amazing time.
Getting to see all the wonderful birds was such a treat! Thank you for having the feeders! I cannot say enough about the beautiful area - the walks were wonderful and checking out Lodi & the village of Poynette was fun!
The hot tub was especially lovely to enjoy at the end of the day. We look forward to coming back again! Thank you for being so accommodating!

This turned out to be the perfect rental for our getaway to Wisconsin. We really enjoyed being able to use the hot tub, the beautiful view of the river and the peaceful location. Sitting on the deck with our coffee in the morning, listening to and watching the birds was idyllic. The owner was responsive and gave us great tips for fishing in the area. The cottage is exactly what is pictured. It’s small but perfect for a couple or family with young kids. We loved staying here and will definitely keep it in mind for future WI trips.

Such an adorable cottage, and no amenity was overlooked. Great central location for many fun activities, and the hot tub was amazing. So much bird activity to watch and listen to as well. My boyfriend already mentioned that he wants to go back next year!

We were looking for a kid free weekend and this delivered everything. The home was so cozy, and there was music on when we got there. The view was beautiful, the bed comfortable, and the hot tub/deck was amazing. We grilled the first night and had dinner outside. Everything we could have needed was provided. It was close to a lot of different things so we had our pick of where to go. We got great hiking in at Devil’s Lake and dinner in the Dells, and got lots of relaxing and soaking time in. We will definitely be back.

We had such a relaxing weekend there. The cabin was tiny but cozy. Everything was super clean and having the electric fireplace already started for us was a nice touch. The hot tub was great, the view from the deck while still a little brown due to time of year was enjoyable. Would definitely stay again!

The cozy cottage was perfect. I was so impressed when we arrived, and the fireplace was on, music was playing, and there was a bottle of wine for us! Hot tub is fantastic. This cottage feels "up north" and is perfect for 2 people and a dog. Great that the deck had a gate to shut, so the dog could be out there too. And the cranes!! (I don't mean they were out on the deck too, I just meant we could see them on the river). Thanks so much!

Beautiful views and relaxing weekend getaway from the chicagoland area where things get hectic and crazy. Super low-key cottage on the water with wonderful privacy. There was a blue tooth soundbar speaker which wasnt listed on the perks which was a nice surprise. Great sound and easy to connect to for music. Hottub was such an amazing feature perfectly on the deck right out back. The hosts were amazing and provided us with everything we needed. Added this to my favorites list and will return here again. 10/10!!!

We had the absolute best time at this property. It is in a perfectly remote location. We loved sitting in the hot tub and looking out to the frozen river under the stars. Our reason for the trip was a short ski trip at Cascade. This location was 20 min away which was perfect. This location is also pet friendly so we got to bring our 6 yr old corgi. It was his first time out of our home state of IL. He had the best time and was so comfy at the cabin. We hope to come back soon with friends! It’s too great of a spot NOT to share. Thanks for everything!

I was very pleased with our stay. It's all about the details, and they have them down at this cozy little cabin. We were looking for a retreat from city life, and we got it! The cabin and surrounding areas make you feel like you are up north, when you are only about 1.5 hours from Milwaukee. The hot tub was clean, in great condition, and ready for us right on arrival. We didn't even get a chance to try out the sauna, but what a fun element! The location on the river is beautiful and the invitation of wildlife (birds) through all the feeders was a special touch. There were just so many small details that really contributed to a lovely experience at this cabin. I would definitely return! Thank you!!

My husband and I had a great Fall weekend at the cottage. It was cozy with the gas fireplace and was so welcoming upon arrival. The view is beautiful! I can imagine that in the summer it is a really great place to rent with the large deck and nice outdoor space. I really appreciated that the deck has a gate to contain furry friends!
The small touches reminded me of cottages I used to stay in as a kid: loads of board games, dvds to choose from, binoculars sitting on the windowsill, books to peruse, etc. The cottage is homey and lived in, which is what we wanted (not like many of the sterile and sparse places you can rent today).
We had a great time relaxing and would definitely return!

Very clean, well maintained, in a cute neighborhood, amazing bird watching from the deck. The only minus point is for the fact that in order to get to the river you have to walk through the shallow gross water, you cannot fish from the deck, it’s actually pointless there as you can’t boat from it either. Once you get over to the actual river it’s very sandy and enjoyable but we were there with the baby ao had limited ability to get over there.

Cottage is average. Peaceful location, good sized deck, bedrooms and living space are adequate, bathroom shower is small. We rented because it was water front. The water is ankle deep at best, you're not going to use the water - you are going to view the water😒. Probably better in the fall or winter, with no expectations. The main problem was with ants.🐜 They were all over the kitchen countertop, texted the caretaker but had no reply and we weren't going to continue to waste vacation time trying to track someone down. We took a twenty minute round trip 🚗to purchase ant traps. This is an obvious issue because there were old ant traps in place. We left the ant traps out when we left so they will be seen. It didn't ruin our trip because we didn't let it 👍😁 but making morning coffee wasn't pleasant.☕😞 We were great guests, cleaned up, followed instructions and left the place the way we found it, in addition to trying to help with the ants. Overall we wouldn't go back, there are too many other places that would suit us better.

It’s was a very nice cabin. The cabin had all the accommodations we needed and then some more. The waterway was very unique. Our son and dogs had a great time in the water. There were so many things to do at the cabin and also outside of the cabin.
Thank You

Amazing Stay
We had the most amazing time ever. We had two huskies with us and they loved the water time and fires all day! The hot tub was an awesome touch which we used every day. This cabin has everything you need. It’s so well maintained, bathroom, large bed, tv, coffee, fridge, grill, fire pit, hot tub, and fun! This cabin had it all!

Great getaway
AMAZING setting!! The home was very welcoming and clean. It has just the right amenities for a great, simple getaway. It is cozy inside although we spent most of our time in the quiet backyard on the shallow end of the lake. The location is surrounded by nature which made the time spent outdoors a pleasure. I will certainly be marking this as a favorite location for future stays.

Relaxing Getaway
Great place to kick back and relax with family and/or friends. The sunset view is spectacular. You can view it in the hammock, sitting in the hot tub, on the deck, or on the water. So many options and all so great. Everything my daughters and I needed for a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. Lovely place and view. Fitz's on the Lake was our preferred dining, but there are plenty of other options close by.

Relax and unwind
My husband and I loved our long weekend at the cozy cottage. Peaceful, scenic and relaxing! We loved spending time outside watching the birds: lots of Baltimore orioles, chickadees, Redwings and so many more. The hot tub was lovely too! We ate at Fitz's on the lake, went to the International Crane Foundation, and discovered Tumbled Rock Brewery and Kitchen! A truly wonderful weekend in a beautiful place on the river! We would love to return!

Third time around
Another day, another great stay at this cottage! We had a very relaxing stay using the hot tub, star gazing, bird watching, hiking and enjoying the fire pit! The only thing missing this time is the hammock and the rocking chair on the deck! It changed sipping my iced coffee morning routine. I really hope they bring them back because they are part of my top three reasons to come back! I can't wait until our next stay! Thanks again Dave and Cheryl!
