About this apartment rental
This top floor condo is spacious with open beam ceilings and an ocean view. It is located in the center of Kailua Kona. You can walk to the pier, to restaurants, shopping, even the bank and the grocery store are nearby. The condo has two bedrooms with California King beds, and two full bathrooms. There is also a single pull out bed in the living room, as well as a queen pull out. You can cook your meals in the full kitchen, and eat on the sunny lanai looking at the ocean. Fast wifi, in unit washer and dryer, a free parking stall, beach equipment, and air conditioning are included as well.
This unit is tucked back off the main street, so it is also quiet. Save the money and the hassle on the rental car and parking, and stay in this convenient location. However, if you do have a car a free parking stall is included, and you can walk to most restaurants and shops on Alii drive without having to pay the parking fees.
Please note, it is on the third floor, no elevator and only stairs. I do also rent a car on Turo that is pickup and drop off at the condo. If you are interested in having a car for part of your trip, or all, please let me know and I'll send you the link. Also, please don't rent a giant vehicle. The parking stall is a covered normal size stall, but there is a wall on one side. You may have to back out of the stall for your guests to easily get in and out of the vehicle.

Very accommodating host with plenty of equipment for local activities like snorkeling and beach days. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Clear instructions too

Lovely balcony & comfortable bedrooms. Was a bit tight for 5 adults. The parking space is tricky with a bigger car. Wish there was a French press or regular coffee maker. Keurig didn’t have a basket & being on Hawai’i, there are so many better coffee choices than Duncan Donuts. Overall, lovely place to stay and close to Kona In. Area.

Great location, host was phenomenal. Clean, comfortable.

The beds and furniture are very comfortable, the kitchen is well-equipped, the AC works great, the tap water tastes pretty good, and the grounds are lovely and well maintained. We found all the neighbors to be friendly and this place is wonderfully quiet. The pool, hot tub, lanai, washer/dryer and the car rental through turo are all bonuses and much appreciated. Everything in town is very close by, but be aware that the steep hills and flights of stairs can be strenuous. Overall we love this place and would definitely stay here again.

This property checks all the boxes. Great location and great host!

Stay away from this worn out unsafe place! Worst vacation rental experience ever!
I couldn't find the place as building and doors were not clearly marked and the check-in instruction was confusing.
There was NO mention in the ad that there is NO elevator!
Parking:
The designate parking spot was so narrow and short for my car rental (a 4WD Jeep wrangler). I could barely get out of the car after I parked as the is a door right in front of the parking space. When I asked the host if there are other parking spots or whether I get a parking permit. She just lectured me that parking is 'free and I should just go stay somewhere else, knowing that I will not get a refund. She doesn't care since she was already paid, and put the word 'host' in 'hostile'!! Hypocritically, in the bulletin board, the host said she can help arrange for additional parking if we have more than one car when all I needed was one.
Condition of the condo:
Since the unit is on the 3rd floor, it felt like an oven when we got in. I asked the host on how to operate the AC and instead of giving me the instructions, she just said it is nice and cool in the evening. The place was dusty (behind the TV, window ledges etc.) and the toilet bowl on the hallway had 'residues' on it and there wasn't even a toilet brush in sight. The fan only turned on periodically. The fridge was full of leftover sauces with unknown expiration dates and most of the spices and 'leftovers' are very cold and clumpy. I had to stop my son from opening a package of leftover oatmeal as it was a complete brick. There was no fan in the upstairs bathroom and it was so hard to turn on the shower. The toaster oven was very dirty and burnt.
Passive aggressive harassing reminders everywhere including the front door to remind me how 'incredibly expensive' electricity is in Hawaii. There were additional reminders on how the sink can clog easily, and that it is our job to put the lanai on to keep her condo cooler while blocking all the views. Yet, we must roll them back up when it is windy. Not my job to maximize her profit margins as I PAID!
This is NOT a resort: The pool is dirty & cold, and the spa is superhot with broken jet. There was no mention in vrbo that pool is closed to children after 6 pm. Lots of chain smokers and stray cats on the property. Very unsafe area with tons of drifters across the street & parking lot, and drunk people on the street on the side of the condo.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

The property is close to all the shops and restaurants by either driving or walking. The landlord Erika is very nice and helpful, which made me feel like she’s there for us if any needs arise. The property has everything we need which is handy. Mahalo Erika for making our stay at Big Island a great experience.

we really liked the place - matches the vrbo pics and description, and was very comfortable for four of us. Both bathrooms quite nice; kitchen fully functional, allowing us to do some eating in. Only a short walk to everything on Ali'i, including the nice small beach by the Marriott. Would definitely do it again

Easy, comfortable, friendly host.
We were there for a week, and it was the perfect size for my and my 3 kids.

Excellent on all accounts so much so that I have already booked again for another work trip in a couple weeks.
Erika and her accommodation are fabulous. Aloha and Mahalo!

The condo has all you need. It’s located to close to town. Not the nicest area when walking into town, but convenient if you want to walk there.

Comfortable place with all the amenities
We (a family of 5) stayed here for about a week and it was lovely! Perfect location, easy walk to shops and restaurants and grocery store. Beds were cozy and Erika provided everything we could want from guidebooks to kitchen supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and host helpful and welcoming.

Not my favorite VRBO rental
In case you missed it, this condo has no dishwasher. Plan to wash everything down before using it. Some of the pans were a bit greasy or sticky to the touch. We hand washed everything before using it.
This condo is on the third floor. There are two flights of stairs plus a few steps leading up to the building. Getting up those stairs with our luggage was not the easiest task.
The pictures show a beautiful open space with a loft. Those pictures are accurate. However, there weren't window coverings on the loft windows. So, we were awake every morning with the sun...about 5:45 a.m. If you, like me, need a reasonable dark space to sleep, bring or plan to purchase eye coverings.
The pictures depict the furniture in the unit. The furniture depicted is accurate. However, the patio chairs are very tough to sit on for an extended period. I needed to work remotely several hours a day for my job and this is the only space that made sense to work on. I had to go to Walmart and buy cushions for the patio chairs because my back started to bother me after a couple of days. If you will need to work remotely from this unit , consider purchasing something for additional comfort.
There are bugs. We found bugs in the kitchen and in the downstairs bathroom. We contacted Erika and she thinks they come up through the drains. There was no extermination while we were there for three weeks. Family members staying in condo complex across the street were provided with a monthly exterminator visit schedule. In this unit, fighting the bugs will be your responsibility but Erika will let you know what to do if you ask.
The only table for dining is outside on the patio. No matter how often I cleaned that table, there were still small bugs crawling around on it while we were eating. I'd recommend planning to eat at the kitchen counter where there are two bar stools. If you intend to use the table, you'll need to plan to buy a tablecloth that you wash after each meal or eat with the bugs.
In order to minimize the bugs, we took the trash out each day. As I mentioned above, this is a third story condo and there is no elevator. You'll need to bring your trash out to a dumpster across from the building in the parking lot.
Kona has a homeless problem that is evident in the neighborhood around the building. While we never felt unsafe, the homeless are hard to miss in this neighborhood.
Erika was responsive and very helpful whenever I contacted her.

Awesome stay
Most places in Kona don’t have ac, this one does. Awesome place for 4 definitely worth it

Wonderful location!
Close enough to walk to everything. Lovely place with everything you need for a wonderful stay in Hawaii!
Pro:
- Communication with the property owner was top notch
-Beds we’re comfortable and their was a couch to accommodate as well
-Towels ready to use for both beach and shower
- full kitchen equipped for cooking, with leftovers from other guests which I think is accommodating and helps with no food waste
-outside patio was wonderful with hooks to hang with things
- snorkel gear plus beach gear helps cut down with the amount for rent or purchase which is lovely
- Birds we’re present outside and their chirping is beautiful
Cons
-birds were present outside and took us a few days to get use to in addition to the jet lag
- it is up three flights of stairs so wouldn’t be accommodating to anyone who is handicapped
- I did see some roaches (like three) but it is a humid climate and in a condo where unfortunately you can’t control your neighbors activities. It wasn’t a crazy amount and as long as food wasn’t amount it wasn’t a big issue

Large condo
Large condo with plenty of room. We have a 2 and 4 year old. Beach at the pier was great for them and an easy walk just under 1/2 mile. As others have commented you can hear quite a bit of traffic noise, but we also are not used to that. Not sure if it would actually be a problem in the bedroom vs the loft. Besides that we had a great stay. Pool and BBQ area was a great addition.

Unfortunate experience
I felt dismissed when bringing the issue of roaches to the attention of the host. She told me it’s Hawaii and normal and be lucky they aren’t flying. I know a roach infestation when I see one. Various sizes of the roach indicates infestation. I will say check in was easy, the host provided great information for having fun on the island and the accommodations were overall comfortable.

Wonderful condo with a great location
This was our first time in Kona and this condo turned out to be a perfect fit for my family. The location of the condo made it great for walking to see the ocean and strolling down the shops and restaurants on Ali’i drive. The condo was very clean, beds were comfortable, and the balcony made it nice to sit out on in the evenings. The Host Erica was very responsive and left us a lot of good information on the condo and surrounding areas. I look forward to coming back and hopefully be able to rent from Erica again.

Location, amenities, great host
Erika’s condo is in a great location. We walked to town. We loved having coolers available as we picnicked at various beaches for the sunset. Beach equipment and towels. Erika is a great hostess, very responsive.
Read the other reviews as this is a walk up apt. Kona is hilly, and entering the complex is uphill.
Location location location. Many beaches nearby for sunset, and snorkeling.
We easily drove north to Waiipo and south to Volcano NP.
We recommend Erika’s condo, and would stay again. Mahalo Erika for listing your place.

We had a wonderful time, the property is a 5 minute walk to the heart of Kona. Erika was an amazing host, and was very attentive to our needs. I would recommend a stay with Erika, and look forward to staying here again the next time we visit Kona

Wonderful place with great access
Neat little place in the middle of Kailua-Kona, it made getting around to visit everywhere very simple. Definitely going to remember this place for my next visit!

Sweet Condo in Kona
Everything with this condo was great - proximity to town, amenities at the condo, and all the needed supplies. I personally appreciate how well stocked the kitchen was. It allowed for us to cook a nice breakfast. Thanks!

1st Hawaiin vacation
Great location, just what we needed. We were up and gone everyday to see the sights. Erika was very responsive and provided a list of places to see and do as well as a travel book. The condo was a great value for what you're getting - Loved having the washer and dryer. There is a newer a/c unit that cools the upstairs and main living area, and a window unit in the downstairs bedroom that were more than adequate. We had a suburban and it didn't fit in the parking spot and Erika contacted us right away to give us a different parking spot. This is definitely the spot for people on the go and wanting a great location close to the city. The only downside - it's already booked for next year when we want to come back!!

Perfect for in and out stay
We loved the location and close to everything we wanted to do on Kona. The loud singing from somewhere close by until late hours was difficult but okay in the scheme of things as it was temporary. The place was clean.
