The Home was very charming and has a lot of character! We were very comfortable, clean and equipped with everything we needed. The location was a short walk to the Old City and very convenient. The hosts were very attentive and friendly. We loved our stay!

Three couples spent a fun week in this house. Right on the bus line. A healthy, but manageable walk to the lower city which we made about twice per day. Close to a LONG series of stairs to the upper city. We found the location ideal. View of the St. Lawrence from the rooftop deck.
Should we return to Quebec, this is our first choice for places to stay. Stephanie and Jean Patrick were fabulous hosts!

Our family of six, two adults and four children, had a wonderful stay at this historic home close to Quebec City's center. The house was just as described and very well maintained. The location was perfect for walking to all of the attractions. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and breakfast foods and the rooftop terrace was the favorite hangout spot for the children. I would highly recommend a stay at Maison La Fille du Capitaine.

The family and I very much enjoyed our stay at the rue Champlain house. The hosts were responsive and avuncular.
The house, hundreds of years old, was clean, well maintained, and in good condition by present-day standards. Everything was in working order. The kitchen was well provisioned for families interested in preparing meals at the house.
Getting around the city from this location was easy. The stop for the number 1 bus is across the street from the house. Getting a multi-day bus pass would be a good investment for getting around town. Also, for summertime visitors, the city supports a nice, free pool across the street.

This was an outstanding place to stay for our visit to Quebec City. It's close, walking distance, but away from the fray in a friendly neighborhood along the river. Jean Patrick and Stephanie were charming hosts and did everything possible to make sure our visit was a good one. We thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this place!

We spent a great five days exploring Quebec City. There are lots of good restaurants, plenty of city exploring as well as outdoor adventures too.

This property is loaded with character and charm. It is a short walk from downtown Quebec City. The house is over 100 years old with a mixture of antiques and modern convenience. The rooftop has a lovely outdoor space with a view of the St. Lawrence River. The hosts, Jean-Patrick and Stephanie, are as charming as the house and responded quickly to all of our questions. They even made a dinner reservation for us at a fabulous restaurant where we were treated royally!

We stayed a week and had a great time discovering Quebec City. We were .7 miles from lower old town and the funicular up to the upper old town. You could also take the steps up and they were just a few blocks away. The house was charming and you couldn’t ask for better hosts than Jean-Patrick and Stephanie. They were so welcoming and always a text or phone call away!

Jean Patrick was an incredible host.
Highest recommendation.

I booked this listing based on the other reviews. Staying in a different country can be daunting. This was my daughters first international trip and I had a very specific idea of what I wanted our family trip to look like.
It was amazing. The home is so cute and quirky. Plenty of room for our family. A great kitchen and dining area. I was worried I would be cold but the place was well heated and the water was hot. Everything is laid out in a way to make your stay more enjoyable. It is like something out of a fairytale.
We were a comfortable walking distance from Old Quebec. I got to see all the sights and eat and drink delicious things while I was there. There is a grocery store but it is too far to comfortably walk with groceries, but a quick Uber trip took care of it. The hosts were the best. They made sure we had provisions for our first morning, gave us instructions and recommendations. They were just generally awesome.
We had the most wonderful time. I would highly recommend.

Going to the fabulous magic of Old Quebec City at Christmas was made twice as special by our stay at this wonderful home! Not only was our time coveted cooking in the kitchen, relaxing and chatting in the beautiful architecture, but our host helped us with the most splendid recommendations for fabulous meals!
Every moment a joy, with such sincere thanks for all of the beautiful special Christmas touches, fruit, eggs, bacon, wine, cereal, etc.
Ready to return!!!
Best,
Amy and Linda

JP and Stephanie could not have been more delightful, and our whole group of six loved the place, would, and hopefully will, stay again.

Fantastic visit, JeanPaul was there to greet us with a ton of enthusiasm. He stocked the fridge and kitchen for us, eggs, bread, bacon, milk for coffee….. amazing. The house itself was perfect and very authentic with some newer touches, like upgraded windows and heaters in every room, which we appreciated as it was December. Location was perfect, a quick easy walk to town or a reasonable Uber if needed. Throughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend if your looking for an adventure in Quebec City.

This was a beautiful house in the perfect location. My sisters and I loved all the sites within walking distance. The hosts were very helpful.

Historical house in a great location. Hosts were great and provided refreshments and a few groceries to ease are arrival. House is located right across the bike trail and the St Lawrence River. Would definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay at Captain’s Daughter House! It is a quaint, lovely home and situated perfectly by the river and Le Petit Champlain of old Quebec City. The home is as advertised. We used the well equipped kitchen often. The hosts shared their favorite spots and resources with us which was incredibly helpful as we got situated. They were generous and kind hosts even finding us a lovely babysitter one evening! We walked daily with our 10 & 11 yr old into old city easily. And spent a day kayaking and paddle boarding nearby another day. The area has plenty to explore! We will highly recommend to family and friends and likely to return soon bc the locals told us winter is as beautiful with spectacular snow activities.

Five friends from the USA (55+) for five days. Great location, responsive generous hosts. The house is unusual in all the good ways, adding to the French historical experience. Well-Appointed kitchen, comfy beds, rooftop deck. More stairs than you might expect.

We enjoyed our time in this charming home. Happy to be away from the touristy section of old Quebec, yet easy to walk 10 - 15 minutes to the base of the town (less easy but still fun to climb the 300 stairs to the citadel just 5 minutes away!). Stephanie was a great host - super responsive and friendly. The home was clean and we enjoyed the guitar and piano and well stocked kitchen. The main room is on the 3rd floor - so be aware of the steps involved when booking the unit. The hot tub is not functioning, but the rooftop was a great place to hang out during a rainstorm. Lots of books and brochures to peruse and great local recommendations from the hosts. We loved our dinner at Albacore.

Charming property in a great location, giving easy access to attractions while also giving a genuine feel for the community.

We stayed at number 204 which is comprised of the second and third floor. The kitchen is on the top floor and there is one bedroom there. The other 2 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. So if you have issues with stairs, this might present some challenges. That said, we LOVED this place and the hosts are extremely helpful, and provided wonderful food staples upon arrival—spaghetti, bread, eggs, bacon, cereal, milk, cream, juice, spices and condiments. The space is gorgeous and feels like a flat you would find in Europe. The beds and linens were comfy and there is even a top deck to view the river. The location is walkable to downtown (15-20 min walk). I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed this location and accommodations.

It's a fun house with fun and responsive owners. Loved the kitchen. Great rooftop terrace for morning coffee and sunset drinks. There is also a nice (free) public swimming pool a couple of blocks away that we loved to use after a day of walking around the city. Being right on the bus stop was very convenient.

The place was charming and the location ideal! No need to drive anywhere, as everything is within walking distance! Across the way from the St Lawrence with a great bike/walking trail! Jean Patrick and Stephanie were the ideal hosts - we loved them!

The house was absolutely lovely. Our host stocked the refrigerator with breakfast items and a bottle of wine was left for us to enjoy! So thoughtful! We enjoyed the beautiful city, there was a book with restaurant and pub recommendations. Easy walk to the old city and various site. Check in and check out was very easy. Highly recommend! Thank you!

We absolutely love this property and had an amazing week in Quebec City. This home is magical. There are stone walls, super comfortable beds, a roof deck overlooking the St Lawrence River, antiques, books, a piano and guitar. It is very spacious, beautifully decorated, stocked with everything you need to cook and relax and more. Jean Patrick and Stephanie had food in the fridge when we arrived, gave us insider tips for things to do, see and eat and answered our every question promptly. We walked to The Citadelle, Hotel Frontenac, Strom Spa (do not miss this) and into old town. The bus picks up in front of the house, too! We did not want to leave and would love to come back. Thank you!

Three generations (ages 23 to 85) enjoyed this charming, old-fashioned maison for four nights. Three bedrooms (w/ good beds), three baths, wonderful kitchen and great room -- with piano yet -- plus a roof-top sitting area perfect for wine and cheese with a view of the river. Location was about a ten minute walk from the old city sights. Hosts (next door) could not have been nicer.

Beautiful house full of history...previous owner made hats for a living hence the name of the house. New owners very helpful and friendly. We'll come back!

We absolutely loved staying at this property. It is probably the best stocked vacation rental I have experienced; Jean-Patrick had the kitchen stocked with milk, coffee, eggs, bacon and fresh strawberries. Our flights to Quebec City were delayed changing our afternoon arrival to almost 3 am, so when we found the food for our first morning already in the refrigerator we were so thankful.
Any questions were answered promptly by Jean-Patrick and Stephanie, and we really enjoyed chatting with them and getting to know the area.
The property is charming and historic and the neighborhood is chill and local but easily walkable to the old city. My mother spent most of her time on the top floor deck that looks out over the St. Lawrence river.
I’ve never had a host so gracious and go so far to make my family comfortable, so we will do our best to visit again and book Jean-Patrick’s lovely property.

We arrived after 1am and the host met us to give us an introduction to the house. There was food for breakfast the next morning! Wonderful to have 3 bedrooms AND 3 bathrooms. The rooftop patio was enjoyed by all. Even our 5 year old could walk to shops and restaurants & the funicular.

The place was exactly as expected, only the hot tub was under repair so we couldn't use it. The whole place is very clean, quiet, and comfortable. There are lots of books and art to admire. The fully equipped kitchen meet our needs.
It's located conveniently for accessing Quebec City on foot, by bike, etc.

We absolutely loved this beautiful historic home! It was a 20 min walk to just about everything. It is a block from the river running/bike path. Clean, well stocked. Owners even had eggs, bacon, bread, milk, fresh fruit waiting for us for our first morning. Hosts live in other section of the house (but completely separate entrances, etc). They are a super sweet couple. They invited us to join them & some neighbors/friends for happy hour on the front sidewalk one evening. We were confused when we arrived late as vrbo website has address listed at address 406, but rental is 404 (just fyi). The hot tub is not functional. We hope to return soon!

All was fantastic, Jean Patrick is a wonderful host. Some eggs, bacon, orange juice was left for our breakfast. The house is beautiful walking distance from le petit champlain, I would recommend this house for either a long stay or a small one!

One of the best rentals we've ever had. The place itself is hard to beat; the description doesn't do justice to its beauty and comfort. The hosts were exceptional, available whenever needed (like to help us with the espresso machine). But more: When we arrived late in the day without a car, they drove us back and forth to the grocery store to stock up for our stay! Our advice: You should take a different place in Quebec City only if this one isn't available. And it will be less available since we ourselves will be back.
Four stars for location: The property is in a nice area, but not in the middle of the action. If you don't have a car, prepare for a lot of walking (minimum 15 minutes to get anywhere) or taxi/uber. Biggest problem: No nearby grocery store.
Tiny inaccuracies in the listing, not enough to downrate: Only 3 (not 3.5) bathrooms and no telephone (but who cares?). The kitchen is more fully equipped than it leads you to believe---it has everything including an espresso machine. The "fireplace" is actually a fun and lovely woodburning stove including kindling and logs. "Plains of Abraham and Citadelle of Québec are within 200 m" is misleading, since those 200m are straight up!

There were countless incredible memories and experiences provided by Jean-Patrick and his wife Stephanie. From the time we booked, through the day we left, they were constantly checking in on us to ensure a perfect winter holiday. Even as Quebec started closing restaurants for dine in, Jean made sure we were all set. We arrived late in the evening, and Jean and Stephanie went out of their way to ensure that there were some groceries to get us through the evening, and even a feast to prepare for breakfast. Every question was answered incredible quickly. The house was beautiful! You really felt like you stepped back in time in old Quebec. We absolutely adored visiting Quebec City with our family. And to be honest, Jean and Stephanie quickly became a part of our extended family through their kindness, generosity, and grace. Thank you so very much for helping to create memories that will last a lifetime.

La Chapeliere is charming, three-story house on a quiet street with a lovely view of the Saint Lawrence River. It’s large, updated kitchen/dining area provided a comfortable place for our family group of six to gather, while its three separate bedrooms and baths allowed each couple their own private space. We were able to walk into Old Town and up the Cap Blanc Stairs to the Plains of Abraham in about 20 minutes each way. There is also a bus stop (Route 1) across the street. Our host, Jean-Patrick’s kindness, hospitality, and humor helped put us at ease during an uncertain travel time when many activities and services were cancelled due to Covid concerns. He even arranged an incredible dinner for us one evening through one of his chef friends. We will stay at La Chapeliere again if future adventures bring us back to Quebec City.

Very comfortable home in a perfect spot for walking into the city. We want to come again during the summer months! Claude lives downstairs and is a fantastic and welcoming host.
