About this apartment rental
VRBO'S NEW PRICING POLICY: DAILY RATE SHOWN INCLUDES ALL FEES, DIVIDED BY # OF DAYS. THE LONGER THE STAY, THE LESS IT COST PER NIGHT.
I have tried to keep our rates reasonable, especially compared to the other "ground floor" ocean front condos. There are only two other condos at the complex with double lanai's, that seat six. Both charge more per night, than my unit. And of those, my condo is the only one on a corner offering 180 degree views. All the other condo's lanai's only seat four and are enclosed by side walls. Our corner condo, #117, is only 15 steps from the shore with amazing views. We offer amenities many units don't, such as: Central air (in 4 rooms), 3 Roku Smart TV's, 3 DVD/Blu-ray players, an adjustable (firmness or softness) "Sleep Number's" King, children and toddler items (crib, stroller, hi-chair etc.), games, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, sand chairs, updated appliances (full size digital W/D) and more. We want to provide, whatever you might need for your vacation.
Most people picture in their minds their “Dream” vacation, directly on the ocean, with magnificent sunrises and romantic sunsets. My condo could fulfill that dream. When you walk in and see the view of the ocean from the living room, you will be delighted. When you go outside, the spectacular views will take your breath away. Every morning, relax on the lanai watching the sun come up over Haleakala and sea turtles popping up in the waves, right in front.
My description is long. A Maui vacation is a big expense. I've added lots of photos with captions to help with your decision. I describe the benefits of our condo that sleeps up to 6 guests + a baby in the crib, and our complex. On over two tropical acres, with stainless steel BBQ's, an oceanside shower, a solar heated pool for guests who dislike swimming in the ocean, and a pool-side eating area, all on a quiet cul-de-sac.
Our direct, ocean front condo has central air in the living room/dining area, and both bedrooms. Each room can be adjusted separately. With built in dehumidifiers, it removes excess moisture from the air. In summer Maui gets into the 90's, with the humidity at 80%. CENTRAL A/C is a MUST, a built-in dehumidifier is even better. Some condos with central air only install it in the living room and main bedroom, overlooking the back bedroom, so it becomes hot.
Only 1/3 of the units at Kanai A Nalu have central air. The others only have a small air conditioner in the living room. Mounted down low, the air flow can be blocked by furniture. On a 2 or 4-hour timer, every couple of hours you have to turn it back on. Their main bedroom is warm, their back bedroom is hot. That's why their rates are lower (or should be). A few condos have no air conditioning and offer highly discounted rates. Condos with central have higher rates. Cooling the entire unit verses just the living room is more expensive, but so nice, especially in summer and spring.
During whale watching season (Nov - Apr 15th.), you can see them breaching out in Maalaea Bay from our lanai. It's an amazing and unforgettable experience. For whale watching, snorkeling or dinner/sunset cruises, we are only 1/4 mile from the highly rated Maalaea Harbor. At the harbor are restaurants, shops, beach and the the Pacific Whale Foundation and Maui's #1 attraction, the Maui Ocean Center. Centrally located, we are only 15 minutes from the airport.
The photo of our complex with the wide beach, was taken years ago. Each summer we had a lovely beach. It disappeared in 2022 due to the rise in sea level and larger than normal Kona storms. We are very fortunate that the ALWAYS sandy "Sugar Beach" starts just past our seawall (running towards Kihei). In summer and spring, when the tide is out, it can start in front of our seawall. During high tide, guests can reach Sugar Beach through the complex next door, past their pool (best for seniors). If the tide is low and the sand is high, younger guests can enter between our seawalls. See photos with the blue arrows.
Also, guests can take a five-minute stroll via the sidewalk, or a 10 second drive down Hauoli Street (to the right). It dead-ends at Haycraft Park which opens onto Sugar Beach with some parking spots, toilets and showers. No development is allowed along this wide, 4-mile-long beach. It’s a habitat for the Green (Hono) sea turtles, who lay eggs along the shore. Enjoy snorkeling there, and you may see the turtles, (but keep a required 10-foot distance). On a morning walk you will only see a few locals. Be aware that the winds pick up in the afternoon.
Diane's Maui Vacation Rental has one of only three, double lanais at the complex. And, the ONLY corner double lanai, offering 180-degree views of Maui's entire south coast. There are 2 tables (Lg./Sm.), extra chairs and seating for 6. With less guests, they can spread out. Other lanai's, enclosed by side walls only seat 4. A prior owner in a wheelchair was allowed to make the oversized lanai. Level with the lawn it’s good for seniors, and children. No upper floor railing to worry about with the little ones. No stairs to have to go up and down, to reach the beach or pool. Our condo is just steps from a parking spot. It has wide doorways and is wheelchair accessible, but it is not ADA compliant.
Being on a corner, there's no neighbors on one side. With more windows, it's brighter inside with extended views of the shore. Our corner condo is not like an interior unit that’s sandwiched between two walls. They only have one window in their main bedroom. Their 2nd bedroom's window opens to the back, facing a walkway, or parking lot. The window in our 2nd bedroom faces the pool.
In the main bedroom is a digital "Sleep Number's" Select Comfort King. On each side, guests can adjust the firmness or softness. Some condo's main bedrooms are open to the living room with thin folding or sliding walls, offering no insulation from the noise of others. Our main bedroom’s solid walls and locking door offers privacy and a quiet retreat.
The 2nd Bedroom has twins that can be converted to a king. Both bedrooms have central air, ceiling fans, Smart TV’s, DVD/Blu-ray players, views of the shore, grounds and pool. In the living room is a Queen Sleeper sofa with a comfortable memory foam mattress. The condo sleeps six. There is an extra fee for the 5th and 6th guests (except children under 2).
The main bath has an oversized, walk-in/roll-in shower (wheelchair accessible), with both a hand held and a wall mounted shower head. The 2nd bathroom has a full-size tub (for the kiddos) with a hand-held shower head above. Both have cooling ceiling fans, make-up mirrors and wall mounted hair dryers.
Our condo has a "relaxed" island feel with bamboo and rattan furnishings. Most of our guests really like it, but those that expect it to look like a hi-end hotel room, could be disappointed. Some of the furnishings are new and other pieces are not. If you prefer all new or a modern look, there are completely remodeled, beautiful units that charge higher rates. Some are not even direct ocean front, and are without central air. Be aware that 25% of the condos have a "No Refund" policy, even if you cancel months in advance.
There are 3 Roku Smart TV’s (Prime, Netflix etc.) and 3 DVD/Blu-ray players. We have a blue tooth adaptable, stereo radio, (play your own music), fast Wi-Fi, a printer, games, books, movies, ice chests, snorkel gear, body boards, noodles, beach towels and sand chairs.
Owned since 2005, it's very personal to me. I've tried to make it the perfect Maui retreat for my guests and my family (3 grown children, plus 7 grandchildren). Children are welcome. We have a stroller, high chair, Pac n Play, crib (with mattress & sheets), booster seat, eating utensils/dishes for toddlers, a baby gate, sand toys and more.
In the kitchen there are two coffee makers, (for K-cups and grounds), toaster, toaster oven, a Ninja blender (for smoothies) service for 8, hand blender, pots, pans, wine glasses and more. There's a digital washer and dryer, new 2024 dishwasher, microwave, glass top stove, side-by-side fridge with ice maker, filtered water, an iron & ironing board. We provide cleaning supplies, dish, laundry, and hand soap.
Diane's Maui Vacation Rental is only steps from a free parking spot. Being a ground floor unit, you don't have to carry luggage upstairs or to the back of the complex for the elevators. The other 7 complexes down the street, towards the harbor, are on a reef. Two are next to the busy Harbor, with the sound of boat engines and exhaust fumes. Many have distant parking lots where you have to carry your bags a long ways. Many do not have air, and half have coin $$ operated laundry rooms. That can be a pain if you have to do laundry often. Our unit has a state-of-the-art FULL-SIZED digital washing machine and FULL-SIZED digital dryer.
THE ISLAND STILL DESPERATELY NEEDS TOURISTS TO SUPPORT THE HOSPITALITY BUSINESSES AND THEIR WORKERS. ALL ARE SUFFERING DUE TO THE DEVISTATING WEST MAUI FIRE.
LAHAIAN IS CLOSED. BUT, ON OUR SIDE OF MAUI, YOU CAN VISIT THE IAO VALLEY (THINK JURASSIC PARK), PAIA (AN 1800'S HIPPY TOWN), GET A FAST RESERVATION AT MAMA'S FISH HOUSE. ENJOY KIHEI, THE BREATHTAKING ROAD TO HANA, BLACK SAND BEACHES, THE UPSCALE SHOPS AT WAILEA, LUAU'S (WAILEA & KIHEI). VISIT UP COUNTRY: MAKAWAO (1900's WESTERN TOWN), KULA, ART GALLERIES, SPECIALITY SHOPS, WINE TASTING, OR ZIP LINING.

Loved everything about the property as nothing can beat the location and amenities of this property.
I would only recommend it to guests who don’t mind the responsibility of caring for the property! It’s not a hotel kind of property where there is little /no maintenance . This property has a lot of soul to it that it requires the right kind of care during your stay and justifies the exhaustive list of criteria listed by the owner as part of the rental agreement .
If you are wondering if this property is right for you definitely recommend getting the entire rental agreement from the owner ahead of time and reading it to ensure it’s a right fit for you.

Everything was great. Communication was great and made it easy. We loved the condo. Plenty of room and fully stocked.

The unit was so well organized, clean and well maintained. As mentioned the condo is exactly 15 steps away from the ocean and the view is fantastic. We were lucky to spot turtles in the morning. Our host supplied all the necessary items needed for a wonderful stay. The kitchen and bathroom closets were well equipped. Our host was very responsive and was just a phone call away. Thanks a lot for making our stay so memorable.

The location can not be beat! We loved seeing the ocean every morning and night. Easy to get anywhere on the island from here. It was stocked with everything we needed as a family to make meals and enjoy recreating on the beach.

This place has everything you need. I took my family and we and such a good time! The view from the condo is spectacular. The pool is great, the ocean right there. Quiet away from the town.
I would definitely recommend this place.

Diane’s place is the perfect condo for families! We enjoyed a week stay with our 1 year old infant and had everything we needed. The pool is easily accessible, the beach was 30 steps away (not crowded/ calm waves perfect for swimming and snorkeling), and the ocean was 5 steps from the lanai where we saw sea turtles every day. I appreciated the detail Diane has put into the kids items at the condo and besides finding the pack & play and high chair very useful, my daughter loved playing with the blocks and beach toys. The condo was clean and well stocked with everything for a perfect vacation. We will 100% be back- thank you Diane!!

What a wonderful place…nothing better. I stepped outside the sliding glass door each morning with my cup of coffee in hand and was greeted by unobstructed, amazing water views. The sound of the waves reaching the shore lulled us to sleep each night and gently woke us up each morning…nothing better!
We have stayed at quite a few VRBO’s and this one is at the top of our list. We will definitely be back. Not to mention the host/owner of this condo in paradise is the best. She responded to a couple of questions I had in a timely manner. Her written details about her property and surrounding area was very much appreciated.
We were even lucky enough to have seen a whale splash out in the distant and turtles each day swimming close to the shoreline.

While this condo is dated, it is serviceable. More importantly, the beds are all very comfortable (you can even have a 2nd King in the guest bedroom), the kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of, there is a new/excellent W/D, and the location is central to every part of Maui, making exploring all the areas convenient. We were not more than 20-35 minutes from any part of Maui...the airport, South, West, North Shore.....it made exploring all parts so easy.

The condo unit was exactly as described, no issues or complaints, unless u hate sun, wind, ocean or geckos 😅. Some of the furnitures are old, just gotta be careful, especially when kids around. We are literally few steps away from the pool and the ocean. The grass area became a "walking" path for folks to go to the beach, as the ocean has ruined parts of the beach.
However we loved meeting other familys and their kids. The pool has some harsh ruels for kids as the sound does travel into the apartments.
There were turtles everyday in the ocean and if u watch carefully, u would see whales. We loved it!!! I will definitely come back!

Communication was amazing. Everything was communicated promptly and thoroughly throughout our stay. We opted for a this walkout ocean front rental instead of a resort and we would do it again. More privacy than any resort and the ability to stay right oceanfront when most resorts you are so far back you have to pack up just to get near it.
We saw turtles multiple times a day right outside the unit. We saw whales almost everytime we looked out the window or sat outside. The ability to wake up at 6am make coffee and sit on the patio to watch the sun rise over Haleakala in our pajamas was priceless.

The waterfront view was the best. There was a lot of whale action always. The unit was immaculate and extremely well equipped. The location was convenient to everything. We couldn’t have asked for more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at this beautiful and perfectly furnished oceanfront condo. The owner (Diane) provided us with everything we needed and more to celebrate our wedding anniversaries (my wife and I - 36 years) and my sister and her husband's 38 year anniversary (including some arrival gifts - fresh whole pineapple and box of delicious Hawaiian chocolates). The location of the condo was perfect for the things we wanted to do. (a few minutes from the Maui Aquarium and Maui snorkeling tour boat, restaurants, shops and more). Also, it was only 16 mins away from the airport. We really appreciated Diane's great communication and detailed information (of Maui attractions, restaurants, grocery stores, shops, etc).. The condo is only 10 steps away from the ocean and the ocean view from her condo was amazing. We had a wonderful 5 star experience at Diane's condo. Thank you very much Diane!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed Dianes condo. The location was perfect, both quiet and convenient. The views from the lanai are epic. The 2 bedroom 2 bath groundfloor unit is beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The welcome gifts are a super sweet touch too. Diane is a wonderful hostess and we communicated frequently. We could not have asked for a better vacation.

We had originally cancelled our plans to Maui as we were supposed to be staying in Lahaina. Then we considered going to another island but after hours of research and thought we thought that supporting Maui and staying on another part of the island felt like the right thing to do. I was thankful to come across Diane’s listing and booking a pretty last minute stay. We had an amazing time staying here and loved the central location. It seemed to be easy to get anywhere. Everything was no more than 15-30 min away. You cannot beat the view! The sound and sights of the ocean soothes my soul! I didn’t need to sleep with any noise machine or loud fan because the sound of the ocean was enough to lull me to sleep. Loved all the amenities like the beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys for our little guy. Loved the smart TVs I’m every room! Sugar Beach next door was amazing! Thank you Diane :)

We had new towels with lots of beach towels and extra sheets if we needed them. Kitchen was well stocked. All appliances were new and worked beautifully. a few cleaning issues like food and dirt under the sofa cushions. the beach in the pictures wasn't there but I am wondering if that is a seasonal thing. I loved the location. Close to the Maui Ocean Center which is a must see. I would rent this condo again.

You can tell Diane takes a lot of pride in her property. Her communication was great and everything was easy to understand. You can’t beat this location and it is hands down the best stocked rental we have ever been to. There was beach and swimming equipment for our days on the beach, a cooler for our trek to the mountains. Can’t be beat. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we ever found ourselves back on Maui.

Our Family just stayed for a week and really enjoyed this Condo. Breakfasts and Dinners out on the patio watching the waves and seeing Sea Turtles a few times. We had a couple small issues arise while we were there, but Diane took care of us fast and got them resolved as quickly as possible. The kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and dryer were a blessing to be able to take care of towels and swimsuits. This was the perfect place to be for our first trip to Maui. It was central and allowed us to explore all over the island and have a place to get back to easily. It was also very close to the airport. Highly recommend this place if you want to see everything Maui has to offer.

beautiful views, easy access to beach and great central location - able to easily explore and get to ahihi for snorkeling /Kam beaches going south and up to olowalu beach and black rock within 15-20 min each direction. Being near maalea harbor ( we dive ) was also a plus. very chill vacation away from the hustle and bustle of big resorts which is what we were looking for

We had a fantastic stay at this Condo. Everything was exactly as we needed. Lots of room in the condo, and everything was clean and orderly! The owner, Diane, was so helpful and attentive to everything. What nicer way to spend a vacation than starting every morning on the lovely Lanai looking over the ocean, it just doesn't get any better than this. The kids loved the swimming pool and LOVED going to the beach - playing in the sand and the waves. I honestly don't think we could have found a nicer place to spend our vacation. My only regret was that we didn't stay longer.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Condo had everything you could need. Location was phenomenal near center of island with ocean just outside. Going to sleep with sound of the ocean was great. Highly recommend. Mahalo!

Our trip to Maui was a delight and Diane's property was a big part of our enjoyment. The condo location is next to Sugar Beach which was perfect for fun at the beach, walks on the beach and watching whales in the bay. The condo had a well stocked kitchen and comes with lots of beach gear and sand toys. My grandchildren loved the variety of kids games and toys. Diane was a very good communicator and host. We would definitely come back here again.

This main floor unit with its extra large patio area offers excellent whale viewing opportunities, as well as ease of access to the pool, barbeque, and sun bathing/shaded reading areas. If you enjoy meeting new people, this location cannot be beat as we were often greeted by other renters who were also enjoying this condo complex and eager to share their adventures and recommended island highlights.

Steps from the beaches, whales and turtles everyday, and a clean well stocked home to come back to. Having all of the kids stuff was a huge bonus! We will be coming back!
