About this cottage rental
The Little Hideaway () is magical large one bedroom studio, and the perfect getaway for couples or for families up to four.
This charming and newly finished two storey property is on a private estate once owned by King Henry 8th. This old estate sits on nine acres and lies directly opposite the magnificent Windsor Great Park, and on the approach to the Little Hideaway there are amazing views across to Windsor Castle.
The Little Hideaway is situated off a quiet country road and up a long driveway. It is nestled between an old oak tree and the Little Dower House (www.littledowerhouse.com), the lovely house and garden where the owners Susie and Hamish live.
For larger groups the Victorian Lodge (www.victorianlodge.co.uk) can also be made available. It is situated on the property at the entrance to the driveway, and is a quintessentially English Country Cottage that sleeps up to 7.
The Little Hideaway is a secluded retreat in a tranquil corner of the countryside, where you can take time to rest and relax. It has everything you should need. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a cooker, microwave, and dishwasher, a dining area that seats four, and a cold room / larder with a large fridge freezer.
The Hallway has a cupboard for your coats, a boot box for your Wellies, and separate cupboards housing a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
The Shower Room has a strong shower with two heads, one large fixed rose and a separate hand held. There is also a basin, a loo and nice heated towel rail.
Heading upstairs takes you to the Sitting Room and the large bedroom.
Here there is a sitting area with a very comfortable sofa, an armchair and coffee table, cupboards for clothes and storage, and a 42" internet enabled television with multi channel Sky.
A candlelit fireplace which is decorative sits in the middle of the room, with a small double sofa bed opposite. An extra fold out bed can be provided by prior arrangement.
At the end of the room is a Super King size bed (which separates into twin beds), a chest of drawers, a pretty window seat and a little door that leads onto a balcony which has a table and chairs, where you can sit in the morning sunshine.
This wonderfully cosy and calm studio is situated within the pretty gardens of Little Dower House, which are private but can be viewed on request. There is the magnificent Windsor Great Park right opposite which has endless beautiful walks throughout, and places to picnic and watch the world go by. Take a walk in the famous Valley or Savill Gardens, or watch a few chukkas being played at Guards Polo ground.
There is private parking, polo ponies in the field opposite, great walks, great pubs minutes away, the beautiful town of Windsor with it's Castle, Thorpe Park and Legoland just nearby, and central London only 35 minutes away by train, and Heathrow airport 20 minutes away by car.
The area is great for couples, country lovers, townies, food lovers, gardeners, riders, polo players, golfers and walkers too.
There is a traditional English pub only 5 minutes away, The Fox and Hounds in Englefield Green , situated by the Bishops Gate entrance into the Great Park , serving simply wonderful light bites, great pub food and smart restaurant food. It's the perfect place, and great for lunch, dinner, a snack or a BBQ, and a well earned rest after a walk in the Park.
Two minutes away on Crimp Hill is the recently opened Oxford Blue restaurant, with a Chef who trained under Gordon Ramsey. In Old Windsor there is a very cheery Italian and pizza restaurant which is perfect for families, and a Co-Op shop that is open all day every day. In the local village Englefield Green there is the Barlow Mow Brasserie, the Bailey Wick pub, a great Indian restaurant Megna Tandoori and a nice Italian restaurant Caspari.
.
We live beside the Little Hideaway, and here to help in any way at any time, whilst you are there or away, but we're always very respectful of your privacy.

Just back from a wonderful weekend! Hamish was the perfect host. The best welcome pack ever !!!! Pictures do not do little Hideaway justice. I don’t think there would be anything you could need or want and it not be there. Absolutely Spotless and in a perfect location. We cannot recommend highly enough and given the opportunity will be back.

Hamish welcomed us with wonderful stories and open arms! Such a lovely greeting that reflected the beauty of the surroundings. We enjoyed a wonderfully comfortable stay, and our only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy Old Windsor and the local area. The location was convenient to Windsor Castle and all that is Windsor, but we were especially pleased with the day we spent walking Windsor Park. It was worth trekking to the Copper Horse to appreciate the expanse of the Long Walk. You will not regret booking this Little Hideaway. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was gourmet equipped, and the welcome basket was much appreciated. Thank you Hamish and Susie for sharing your little slice of heaven in Old Windsor!

My husband, my 8 month old daughter, and I spent our first Christmas as a family of three at this little hideaway. It was perfect!! This cottage is very charming and Hamish and Susie had decorated it so beautifully for the holidays. Their hospitality was amazing as well. It is so quaint and you can truly detach from the world and just enjoy being there. I’d highly recommend this to anyone!

Fabulous place to stay
My husband and I have stayed at The Little Hideaway 3 times now, and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Windsor. It’s truly fabulous, so well equipped, lovely gardens, peaceful and quiet, highly recommended. Hamish and Susie are the best hosts. Would give 10 stars!!

By far the most enchanting property we have stayed. The hosts, Susie and Hamish are long time residents and can be found tending to their beautiful gardens while the pheasant and geese hobble about. You can see Windsor castle and the royal, long walk. Parks and hikes abound along with amazing pubs and fine dining. We would definitely return as this has been one of the most tranquil and relaxing and yes, beautiful places we have ever stayed, and we have traveled far and wide.

Hurry up and stay at this magical place!
The Little Hideaway was our first stop upon arrival in England from California, and a softer landing is impossible to imagine. Susie and Hamish’s place is perfect, and gorgeous, and they’ve thought of and provided absolutely everything one could want for a cozy and elegant sojourn in stately Old Windsor. On top of ample and thoughtful amenities, they even left us a hamper of food and wine sufficient for a couple of days.
We recommend The Little Hideaway most highly. Don’t miss this place! We’ll be back! Five stars +++

An AMAZING experience
Hamish & Susie were absolutely incredible! From start to finish this was the most incredible stay i’ve ever had & we loved it so much that, we’re going to come back every year! The started pack they provided was an amazing touch & ensured we didnt have to spend too much time away from this beautiful cottage. So many memories were made here & we can only begin to thank them both. Thank you for an INCREDIBLE couple of days.

A Sister's Getaway
This is my second stay at The Little Hideaway and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting London. The Hideaway is conveniently located close to Heathrow Airport yet you dont feel close at all. The property is stunning. The English garden is magical. The Hideaway is cozily decorated and has everything you need. Hamish and Susie are hands down the best hosts. They have gone above and beyond in every aspect. They are happy to offer suggestions for things to do and delicious restaurants. The location is close to everything. (About 1 hour from Highclere Castle) The LIttle Hideway does not disappoint. In fact, you'll be disappointed if you don't stay here!

Best HomeAway experience ever!
The Little Hideaway is absolutely lovely and a large part of why we had such a great vacation! No special touch was overlooked, from the array of soft blankets to the luxurious towels. Hamish was indeed the most gracious host with incredible knowledge and pride in the area. Great recommendations for restaurants and a beautifully stocked welcome basket when we arrived! While we were there to see Windsor Castle, Hamish and Susie's true calling is weddings and I can't imagine a more romantic and special place for such an occasion. They are passionate about making your stay great and I'm sure any wedding on their property would be perfect!

The Perfect Getaway
We loved our stay at the Little Hideaway. We had such a warm welcome from Hamish and Susie, greeted by fairy lights, a lovely hamper and lots of helpful advice about the area.
The property is beautifully renovated, with a real eye for attention to detail. It is extremely comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need.
The local area has so much to offer. We walked into Windsor which is about an hour but a lovely route through the Park and straight up to the Castle. We would recommend a visit to the castle, we joined a guided tour which had lots of interesting history. We had lunch at the small but very welcoming Two Brewers pub right by the castle. We also did walks and some running in Windsor Great Park, so much to explore there we need to visit again! We also visited 2 local pubs, The Fox and Hounds and The Bailiwick, both very good.
Definitely five stars all round!

We loved our stay at the hideaway Little Dower house. Very comfortable bed and lovely bed linen. It is a very cosy and well furnished property. Idyllic escape
Words can not describe how lovely this cottage is!
Two friends and I stayed here for our 40th birthday getaway. The cottage was cozy, luxurious and beautifully appointed; the beds so comfortable; the shower is fantastic; the welcome pack full of sumptuous treats and all set in a gorgeous English country setting of geese, horse and endless greenery.
Hamish and Suzie could not have been more generous and welcoming as hosts.
We loved it so much that we can not wait to return again together and also with our own families.
5 stars is not enough!

Magical place and host
Hamish and Susie are so kind and welcoming, like coming to visit family. The Hideaway was amazing, perfect for two, everything you would need. Like living in a bit of a fairytale, complete with Christmas tree, welcome goodies, and twinkle lights. A wonderful home base to visit family in Ascot and Cambridge. Rest, relaxation, love and laughter......life is good indeed❤️

Superb, quaint and well located
Little Hideaway, is in a very peaceful location within a short drive or long walk of Windsor town. The property is impeccably clean with a well designed interior which immediately feels homely. The bedding is very plush and the huge bed guarantees an excellent nights sleep. We stayed with our two children (8 & 11), the owners were very kind and reorientated the sleeping area to accommodate them, even with the four of us and beds the upstairs studio was very spacious and well furnished with things for the children to do. Susie and Hamish were the perfect hosts.

A wonderful place ran by wonderful people
We booked a romantic stay at the property for a very special weekend. Hamish and Susie were fantastic - nothing was too much for them to make it a memorable visit and both were incredibly generous, while also giving us space and privacy.
If you want to stay in wonderful gardened grounds with beautiful views and a lovely property then look no further! We couldn't recommend it more highly.

A slice of perfection......
Wow……Where to start?!
Should you be fortunate enough to stay on the Little Dower estate, prepare to leave all your worries and cares at the foot of the fabulous drive.
Little Dower House is truly a slice of heaven, set away from all the hustle and bustle in beautiful Old Windsor.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the charming owners Susie and Hamish, who really are the most delightful hosts you could possibly wish for, immediately making you feel welcome and relaxed.
The house oozes charm and character leaving you with a sense of enchantment for the duration of your stay.
We would highly recommend Little Dower House as a romantic retreat and we look forward to returning in the Autumn for another very special stay.

A delightful find !
A beautiful, cosy place to stay for the weekend. Well appointed with everything you could possibly need and a few nice touches left by Hamish and Susie, wine and provisions !
Hamish and Susie were very welcoming and kind and have clearly put a lot of passion and effort into making The Little Hideaway a really special place.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that there was an issue with the TV not working to its full specification, as advertised, which meant it was extremely limited and we had to change our plans and spend less time in the apartment. Also, as there is a no shoes inside policy (which is completely understandable) it might be nice to provide some spa style slippers as the downstairs flooring is really cold.
