Beautiful views and penty of space. The hosts were responsive and helpful. Wifi was fast. It is a trek too get to Cabo Pulmo though. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

The house is in a beautiful, remote location. We had a good family holiday, and enjoyed the beach and the dunes. I highly recommend having a car with high clearance as the road is unpaved. We had a rented sedan and hit a rock hidden when the road was getting graded which destroyed the radiator and the bottom panel of the car. Bring all your food.

Amazing views!
We enjoyed our stay and the amazing views. It's a hard road to get here but our small SUV made it without and problems and allowed us to find the Frailes beach on the way from Cabo Pulmo (the one where there are some trailers parked). One day we saw an unusual display of a whale breaching and nearby two manta rays flying in and out of the water playing. Wow! Our main criticism of the house itself is that it needs better maintenance (broken table, shades...) and a more thorough cleaning.

Top of the hill
We were two couples, old friends, from New York. We were delighted by the place - it had splendid views of both sunrise and sunset - a number of ways to get to the beautiful almost deserted beach where we swam every day - we rode horses on the beach at a nearby ranch 2 kilometers away - we went snorkeling on the reef from the dive shop at the crossroads in Cabo Pulmo which is 13 kilometers away - we ate many meals in Cabo Pulmo and found the little store in town often had just what we needed -we saw whales from our porch - be sure to have cash and a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get around so you can explore further afield - kathy henry Ellen and rinde

Great stay at Casa Tortuga
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Tortuga. The hosts were super responsive and answered every question thoroughly and quickly. We loved hanging out on the upper balcony and saw whales every day from there. The house was good for a family with kids. The beach was about a 20 minute walk, so it wasn't easy with kids to get there on foot, but there is easy driving access (less than 5 minutes). Los Arbolitos beach was a nearby favorite, it took about 20 minutes to get there in the car. The small town of Cabo Pulmo was about 25 mintues away. The house was stocked with everything we needed. This area is remote, and you definitely need a car (2wd is fine) to get here and for exploring. Hardly any light pollution because everything is off-grid in the area, which makes for beautiful night skies!

Beautiful views remote getaway
This house is located about 30 minutes from the dive shops at Cabo Pulmo. It is a beautiful house in a nice, small community near the sea. The views from the balconies are great during the day and at night for star gazing. The house was well appointed, and the host was friendly and helpful. Be aware that the house does not have air conditioning. We didn't realize this when we booked but we managed with the fans and open windows throughout the house. This area is remote and is reached by packed dirt roads- we wish we had a 4 wheel drive vehicle but made it fine with a standard rental car. Definitely have to buy all supplies and gas up before heading to Cabo Pulmo, as there are no stores to speak of within a 30 minute drive of the unit. The beach at Los Arbolitos was perfect for snorkeling, and the diving at Cabo Pulmo was inspirational. There are plenty of restaurants in the little main area of Cabo Pulmo- be aware that some only accept cash. I stayed with just my husband, but this house would also work well for a group.

A true paradise
The location and situation of the Casa de Tortuga is ideal and I did not want to leave! The nearby beach is stunning with multiple whale sighting every day. Also close is the Cabo Pulmo park and wonderful waters teeming with sea life. This was one of my favorite places!

Serene home with forever views
This home is secluded and beautiful. We loved our stay and had the most peaceful family get away. Each night we would sit out under the stars and marvel at the tranquility. We watched the sun rise over the Sea of Cortez, something we will never forget. The natural beauty of this location is really exquisite. The dunes located near the house are made of fine white sand. We spent a couple of afternoons reading, looking for sea shells, playing in the water and on the dunes. It was such a highlight.
Be sure to ask the owner which road to take before your visit. They have good communication with the neighbors who live in the community full time. (All of whom were so friendly and welcoming!) The road conditions vary with the season and weather conditions, so it is good to ask ahead of time which is best. Also, stock-up on supplies in town before you head out so you don’t have to go back and forth as you really are getting away from it all (which we were seeking and really enjoyed.)
The owners were very helpful both before and during our trip. Thank you for a wonderful experience!! We would love to return someday!

Casa Tortuga getaway
We have been coming to Cabo Pulmo for about 20 years. We love the area and all it has to offer. This was our first time staying at Casa Tortuga. The house was perfect. Lots of room to spread out, gorgeous views, all the comforts of home, well kept and clean. The solar system had a few glitches while we were there but it sounds like the owners will be addressing them soon. Otherwise we would highly recommend this beautiful spot!

Amazing Visit
We had such a lovely stay at Casa Tortuga! We visited for "Spring Break", with two childfree couples in our mid-30's.
John & Joy were super-responsive to questions leading up to our trip, which put our minds at ease arriving in an 'out-of-the-way' location. Their home is even more amazing than the pictures let on -- there are 3 different porches -- one on each floor -- each more beautiful than the one below it. We spent an hour one evening just laying out on the middle, uncovered porch, looking up at the stars, which were so clear given how remote the location is.
We were a short (unpaved road) drive away from several beaches that were amazing for snorkeling and swimming. Definitely rent an SUV for driving to/from beach locations -- and definitely just buy some snorkel gear before coming out - it'll be worth it, and you can find inexpensive sets on Amazon.
When we weren't swimming, we were enjoying the awesome kitchen at the house and making meals to enjoy on the porches. Great kitchen space, great gas stove for cooking. And the views from porch upstairs during dinner were amazing. If you plan on cooking, definitely pick up your groceries in one of the large grocery stores by the airport before making the drive to the house. There are slim pickins' at the little shops in Cabo Pulmo.
Bedrooms were super-comfy, and each bedroom had its own bathroom attached - great for couples vacationing together like we were.
We saw some amazing wildlife near the house too -- road runners, dessert rabbits, so many kinds of beautiful birds. "Domesticated" goats and cows roamed nearby too.
The property manager in town - Jeff - was super helpful when we had questions our first day and also offered to pick us up things when he was back in the main town on our third day, which was super-nice of him. He offered great advice on which beaches to try and how to get around.
100% would recommend staying here! Thank you for a magical vacation!

Beautiful house located in a gorgeous part of Baja.
John and Joy’s house was the perfect house for our stay in Cabo Pulmo. The kids had the bottom level room with their own bathroom that opened up on the yard. Our in -laws had the master room on main level with their own bathroom. My husband and I had the room on top level with our own bathroom AND a patio with a view of the landscape, white sand dunes and the beautiful blue green sea! This top level patio was where everyone wanted to be especially during sunrise and sunsets! There is also a patio on main level with the same view. This house had enough space and privacy for all of us! The kitchen had everything we needed. John is very good with communication and took great care to make sure we enjoyed our stay in his home. The other thing we loved was the remote area, so peaceful and so relaxing to come home after a day at the surrounding beaches snorkeling and swimming. Cabo Pulmo and the East Cape in general is accessible by dirt roads only which we felt has kept the tourism at bay. The beautiful beaches were never crowded and sometimes we were the only ones. The town of Cabo Pulmo was a 25 minute drive from the house. It had a few dive shops and a few restaurants. We loved eating at Las Palapas right on the beach after snorkeling. We recommend getting a guide and going out on a boat to the coral reefs. The marine life was amazing especially the sea turtles! This house was perfect for out stay and we loved our time in Cabo Pulmo. If and when we return we will stay in John and Joy’s house.
