About this apartment rental
Welcome to the Sea Lodges of Cayman Kai and our condo The Getaway, unit #22.
Our unit was renovated in 2018!
Located on the North Side of the island this is the place to come if you want a peaceful less touristy island feel. Our two bedroom two bath condo has a great private sandy beach that is just steps from your door & sitting directly in front of a protected marine park. Swim 75-100 yards off your beach and explore an attractive reef as you float down to Rum Point for one of their world famous mud slides. It's a ten minute walk back to your condo to relax with a beer on one of the two screened in patios or chill under one of the thatch umbrellas on the beach.
If you want to save some extra money or just enjoy staying home, stop at the one of several groceries on your way out to Cayman Kai and pick up what you will need. Have a great meal with a picturesque view of the ocean while sitting on the back lanai. Go down to the beach and take in the stars on a clear night. Keep an eye out for the ghost crabs. The fully equipped kitchen has a toaster, coffee maker, microwave, stove & range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and beverage refrigerator. Pick up some charcoal and use the grill out front.
Our condo has an old style Cayman layout designed to be cooled by the tropical breezes that blow on the north side of the island. Most times of the year visitors prefer to use the tropical breeze to cool the unit. However, for guest convenience air conditioning is available throughout if you should choose to use it. If so, please put up the vinyl covers for each window and door. June - August is when people are most inclined to us the AC. In the unit we provide a few beach toys if you brought your little ones, and some snorkeling gear in case you or your buddy forgot to bring theirs. There is also a washer & dryer in the condo if you need it.
If you are looking for a quiet place without a lot of hustle and bustle you've found it! The north side of the island where our Sea Lodge is located is a slower pace of life than Seven Mile Beach. For those just wanting to relax while sitting on a lightly occupied beach you will be in heaven. If you need some activity before having your cool beverage, you can swim to the reef and explore for hours. The current moves steadily, but reasonably towards Rum Point. Along the way you'll see all manner of reef fish including Southern Stingrays, Nurse Sharks, Eagle Rays, Green Sea Turtles, and more. While at Rum Point you can chill under the Casuarina trees while waiting on lunch from the Wreck Bars' kitchen and have one of their cool drinks like a Mudslide, Daiquiri, Caybrew, or White Tip Lager. Red Sail Sports is located there too. You can rent jet skis, paddle boards, or even a small sail boat. Red Sail also does various charters from this location for snorkeling, sunset cruises, or a trip out to Stingray City. Where you can gently interact and feed some very friendly Southern Stingrays. During certain times of the year you can book a night kayaking trip with Cayman Kayaks to view the bio luminescent bay, one of the few in the world, located near Rum Point. Super cool! A few miles drive from the condo you can also take a hike on the Mastic Trail in the nature reserve. Here you can see some of the original dry forest vegetation of the island and it's excellent for bird watchers or plant enthusiasts. For a more leisurely walk stop by the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park to see beautifully maintained gardens, nature trail, and the elusive native Cayman Blue Iguanas.
Cayman Kai & the north side of the island are not known for their late night, night life. If you want that you'll have to venture back into Georgetown/Seven Mile Beach area. It's best to make a day of the trip to town. There are however, several bars and restaurants nearby. Except during high seasons, I would not expect them to be buzzing extra late. You can grab drinks at Rum Point's Wreck Bar, or The Rum Point Club Restaurant for a more formal setting. Our favorite close spot is Kaibo. Kaibo has a casual dining space and bar below, with seating on the beach, which overlooks the bay. Upstairs you have a pricier and much more formal dining experience.
Question: Who likes to stay here?
Answer: Those who normally like our property are people who are a little more independent. Someone who wants to get out of town and the typical seven mile beach experience.
Question: What type of person usually enjoys staying at your property?
Answer: A range of people, but often people who enjoy a more private/quiet setting, connected to nature. This location fits several needs. Those who enjoy getting into nature can swim or kayak while getting plenty of exercise then come back to relax with others on their lanai.
Question: What age person usually stays at your complex?
Answer: Ages range too. Our property is great for families with children. They can stay here all day or head down to Rum Point. Retirees like this property because they have a quiet place with great patios to relax and chat on. We often get young couples who want a more intimate setting away from "the scene" of a typical spring break or large resort.

This was exactly what we were looking for. It was a spotless unit with COLD AC that worked fast. Lots of odds and ends, as I call it, were " Left on the Moon". Bug spray, sunscreen, charcoal, spices, and other things. Not items that are stocked by the owner, but left by past guests. We look forward to the opportunity to return,

Everything was amazing. We snorkeled everyday on the reef just off the beach and saw different species each trip. Condo is awesome and has everything you need for a fantastic trip. Owners were responsive and had great tips on how to enjoy the island. Can’t recommend enough.

Very pretty place in a quiet location. Place equiped with everything you need. Wish we could have snorkeled right from the villa' s beach, actually tried one day but was a little rough, that was a bummer bc we love to snorkel and the owner said its the best on the island. Other then that it was a wonderful place!

We came back to celebrate out anniversary and had a wonderful experience here!

Me and my fiance stayed in this house for a week and we couldn't be happier with our experience there. The house itself was clean, had all the appliances we needed, and came with TONS of stuff for us to use. Snorkel equipment, goggles, kayak, noodles, pool floaties, beach towels - pretty much everything you would need for a week on the beach. The beach is literally steps from the property and is amazing. The location is away from the west side of the island which is where most of the crowds are, and we went right before the busy summer season, so our private beach really was private - we basically had the whole stretch of beach to ourselves! We snorkeled at the beach there everyday when we had free time, and every single day we saw new fish and creatures swimming around, we even saw a stingray and a moray eel one day.
It's super close to Rum Point which has some beachside bars and restaurants, but you should know that this side of the island in our experience had fewer restaurants and nightlife compared to the west side. Personally, that's exactly what we wanted: a quiet vacation away from crowds. I recommend renting a car like we did so you can drive to the west end if you want that action.
Host was very responsive and friendly. Immediately responded to a question we had. The location also has a binder with information about local stores, food, activities, etc. which we used
Overall, if you're looking for an amazing beach retreat thats a little quieter, THIS IS THE PLACE.

Homey comfortable, good location, comfortable, great beach access. Has all of the necessities. Comfortable bed. Quiet property where you can relax and still have access to as much outside activity as you want. We were looking for some place to kick back and relax and remove ourselves from the day-to-day fray and the Getaway absolutely fit the bill. Our host was responsive and made great recommendations for activities, restaurants, and groceries. We will definitely be returning.

The property is beautiful. It was stocked with beach towels galore. The property is so peaceful and having your own beach footsteps away is icing on the cake. The owner is very responsive. This property has become our annual visit. Thank you for sharing and I will definitely spread the word.

We went here with our five year old and it was perfect. Everyone had their own space and the location was great. Very quiet and relaxing, and easy to get to everything on the island. The condo is very well stocked, especially the kitchen. The owner and property manager are very responsive.

The place was immaculately clean and had every necessity a family could need. We found the outdoor shower very useful to rinse off the sand and saltwater after a swim. The beach here is very nice; it may be a little intimidating getting into the water with the seagrass and iron shore rock, but it's not a big issue. I would advice water shoes/socks though. As for the snorkeling...I would characterize it as one of the best shallow reefs we've been on. Very healthy coral and variety of fish. I'd advise to snorkel from Cayman Kai and "drift" your way to Rum Point. On this trip we did both Rum Point/Starfish Point and 7-mile beach and the consensus was with our group (teens and adults) that the north side was better. Try Rum Point for calm waters, lots of activities/amenities (chairs, umbrellas, showers, A/C restrooms), good snorkeling...its all right there. A ton of stuff to do on the north side and, in my opinion, best part of the island. We'd highly recommend staying here.

We love staying at the sea lodges. J was an incredible host. Communication was great and our check in/check out went smoothly. The accommodations were as described and we had everything we needed. J welcomes you with a letter outlining things to know when you arrive from getting around the island, to places to eat, or stores to stop at along the way. J also gives you tips about safety while spending time in the water. We love our time in the Caymans and we will definitely plan a return trip soon. Hopefully we will get to stay at J’s again!

We stayed at the Getaway for 10 days, and it was wonderful! The place is very well-appointed and had everything we could ever need for our stay. This was our fifth time staying at the Sea Lodges, and will definitely be back again next winter.

Quiet area with a lot of rest/relaxation, away from the busy side of the island (40min drive) but within 5-15 mins of several restaurants and 25 mins to larger grocery stores. Snorkeling on the reef was excellent only a few hundred feet from the condo, lots of room in the condo and AC kept us cool during the evenings. Would recommend the rental and area - just be aware of proximity to other parts of the island and requirement to drive.

Perfect property, plenty of space. Lovely beach decor. Very clean. Well stocked, had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable beds. Gorgeous private beach. We only saw one other couple during our two week stay. Great communication with the owner. The only thing we disliked was having to leave it. Thank you!!

We had an amazing time at The Getaway! All the amenities you could want and very comfortable beds; It was just perfect! You definitely get the island vibe at this property and it’s very peaceful and relaxing. We experienced epic sunsets and even a sea turtle on the beach out back! Our host was the best! We would stay here again. Thank you J!

We wanted a quiet place to get our kids their first snorkel experience and this place was perfect. The reef, the amenities, the space, everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended, thanks for our best vacation so far!

Very private and quiet spot on the Northside! We frequently had the beach to ourselves and could snorkel to the reef for amazing sea life (even saw some stingrays!). The condo fulfilled all of our needs and beds were super comfortable. Loved all the hooks for hanging towels and wet items. We loved visiting Stingray City, Starfish Beach, Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Gardens (blue iguanas were very cool), bioluminescent bay, and just hanging out on our “private” beach!

We had an Amazing Stay, this place in my opinion is in the Perfect Location away from the hustle and bustle of 7MB! But only a few mins from Rum Point! The house was clean and had everything that we could of needed! The water and the beach were beautiful right outside your door! The Owner sent Awesome Very Detailed information about the house , location and things to do and see along with local grocery stores and restaurants! Would definitely recommend to friends and family!!

We loved our stay on the north side of the island—such a short drive from Rum Point, Kaibo & Starfish Point. The condo is clean and comfortable with plenty of beach towels and snorkel equipment. The complex was quiet and it was like we had our own private beach! We loved using the grill to cook in the evenings after being out all day. The closest grocery store was very expensive so it would be good to stop at the bigger grocery stores before you come to the north side of the island. Beautiful place, highly recommend!

This property and location are both amazing. What a special spot with a barrier reef on your door step. Having the kayak available daily made it extra special!!

Have stayed at sea lodges 3 times and this was the best place by far. Very well equipped. Lots of kitchen apparatus. Lovely bedrooms and baths. Clean.

We had a amazing time. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and this stay was perfect. The way that the home is laid out is great for privacy of each guest room. You can enter/exit from the front of the home or the back of the home from each bedroom. There are plenty of towels and snorkeling gear to enjoy your time in the water. Rum Point is about a 20 to 25 minute walk down the beach, or you could snorkel there.
We enjoyed just laying in our hammocks in the evening and listening to the water and looking at constellations.
This is the perfect place to relax and get away from the crowds.
The owner was very accommodating and answered any questions that we had. We defiantly want to go back.

The cottage was just like it's described. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals and dining on the screened lanai was enjoyable. Yes, there is a dishwasher which makes cleanup afterwards a breeze. Having a second screened area for hanging wet beach/snorkeling/dive gear is a bonus. Sea Lodges location on the northside is much quieter than the 7 mile beach area which is nice for those looking for that atmosphere. We had a great time. Get-A -Way is a pleasant place to stay on the north side of Grand Cayman.

We loved the getaway! It was perfect for a couple, such a quiet hidden gem. If you want a relaxing, quiet beach vacation with great snorkeling access this is your place! The screened in porch was our favorite! Comfy bed and great AC for. Plenty of towels and stocked well!

We loved our trip to Cayman Kai Sea Lodges. Our place was very comfortable and relaxing, right on the ocean! The beachfront was beautiful and we enjoyed snorkeling right off shore. The villa had everything we needed and we especially loved the screened in porch area for mornings with our coffee. Everything went smoothly w checking in and checkout. The hosts were very helpful in providing information about local sites, restaurants, shopping and adventures. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your place!

Better than the pictures! Surpassed expectations. Everything you could ever need is already there. You can tell the owners really thought it through on what guests might need from sunblock to kids beach toys. Rum point is a super cute spot and very laid back. Only down side is that it’s about an hour drive to get to seven mile area where most of the action is. However, it’s very close to the bioluminescent bay and starfish point. So you will have to drive to see things no matter where you are on the island. Might as well pick a place that’s serene and feels like your own little beach cottage. ❤️
On another note- J, the owner was extremely helpful and even took time off his personal vacation to make sure all was good for me.
This bnb was probably the best I’ve ever rented!

We had an amazing time. Practically had the entire complex to ourselves. We only saw two other couples on the beach the entire week. We took a very long time trying to decide where to stay while we were in the Caymans. We could not be happier with our choice. You can see the ocean right from your porch and door. My husband loves to snorkel, and you can easily do it right from your own beach. We would have been content to just lie on the beach all week. It is so quiet and relaxing. It was perfect for us, but if you want to have a party atmosphere or a lot of stuff going on, then this is not for you. But if you want what we want, relaxation, quiet and beauty, this is the place. It was just the two of us, but you could definitely have another family with you and still have plenty of space! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place.

Great property, fabulous position right on beautiful beach with fantastic reef to snorkel. Really well equipped and lovely Cayman style and decor throughout. Outstanding communication with owner.

We had a great time at the Getaway. It was the perfect size for our family of 4. While we were gone most days the evening was spent grilling and playing games. Eating meals out on the lanai was wonderful. Just a short walk to the properties beach was easy and the beach was great. Rum point was just a short drive or walk down the road, great place fir a meal or cocktail and do a little snorkeling. We even saw sea turtles there! The Kaibo yacht club is just a little bit further and we took our Stingray city tour there, quick and easy. Overall the property had everything we needed and was just perfect! I highly recommend staying here! Communication with the owners with questions was prompt. This really was a great place! We will be back!!

We had a wonderful time at J’s Sea Lodge! Would definitely stay here again. Great layout for a family. My kids (3 & 7) had a blast on the beach and playing in the water. Beach toys, body boards, noodles available. My husband and I snorkeled the reef, reef is in great condition, lots of coral and sea life. My 7yo snorkeled near shore and saw lots of fish as well. We visited starfish point and rum point, both excellent calm beaches for young children. Very short drive (5min). Rum point is walkable. We used the cooler and brought lunch. Looking forward to our next trip!

Short distance from Rum Point, though certainly within walking distance. We planned on cooking most meals and so we were pleased by how well stocked the kitchen was (and my husband is a chef). The layout of the home allows for open doors on front and back which makes it feel like a big and open space. Ocean views from the back porch were lovely all day long. Both porches are well protected from easterly winds, which are present when on the beach. Initial looks from parking lot might mislead you, wait until you get inside - we loved this place! We were here with our 8 and 11 year old. They loved having the kayak to use on the ocean right at J’s house , and had no trouble waking to rum point for calmer water and snorkeling.

We cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was. We could live at this property for the rest of our lives and never want for more. Property is so well thought out. They have anticipated all of your needs. Pray we will be back again one day soon. Thank you!

We had a wonderful week! There were only two other condos being used so we almost had the property to ourselves! Waking up to the waves steps from our bedroom door was incredible. The snorkeling was stunning…stingrays and cuttlefish fish galore! Would definitely go back!

This is truly an amazing place- remote enough to feel private, but close enough to markets, restaurants, activities, etc. to feel like the perfect balance. You’ll need a car, but the views and amenities are worth it to be away from the crowds! We swam and lazed on a beautiful beach all to ourselves! The home is also very well-equipped, modern, and cozy, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We highly recommend it, and J, our host, was kind, attentive and super helpful!! Thank you J!!

The location and property were just what we were looking for. Quiet and away from the more commercial/resort side of the island. Practically a private beach! We managed to lock ourselves out of the house, but the host and property manager were very responsive and quick to help us! Thanks for a great stay! We would definitely return here.

A beautiful and quiet property!
What a beautiful, well-appointed property! We had the pleasure of staying here a week ago, and it it was a great decision. The kitchen is well outfitted with all the things you need to make a simple meal, the beds are comfortable, and the location was remote and peaceful. Our host was very attentive, and when the WiFi was not working up to par, did everything he could to fix the situation. It was pretty windy for most of our stay there (we found ourselves driving to the south side of the island for snorkeling), which I understand is not unusual for this time of year. On the plus side, however, we were able to arrange for both of our boat tours to pick us up/ drop us off at Kaibo- a five minute drive from our condo. This also really reduced the travel time on the boat- which was great, as my youngest tends to get seasick. So 15 minutes on a boat to Stingray City, vs. about 40 minutes from the original departure point. And that departure point would be 40 minutes away by car. Also highly recomnend the private tours on Viatour- which enabled our different pick up points. The bioluminescent tour was magical. Approximately double the price for a family of four or similarly priced if you have eight people, but the difference in experience was tremendous.
This property is not a fancy resort, but a comfortable, well-equipped space that has beautiful views, a beautiful beach, and is away from the crowds. Would definitely recommend it!
