Property Descriptions
The property is in a non-isolated rural setting with dominant and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside, within walking distance of the village of Eguilles, 15 mins northwest of Aix en Provence.
Located in a little private access road where children can play in safety, the garden of approx 600M² is fenced in all the way around.
There is parking for 3 cars, and a bus-stop less than a minute away (regular L26 bus route between Eguilles and Aix).
The lively village of Eguilles, with a generous selection of shops (bakeries, grocers, butchers, supermarkets etc), is 5 mins drive, or 15 minutes’ walk away, through peaceful roads gently leading up to this charming perched village.
The villa offers a fully equipped open plan kitchen leading to a dining room and salon, themselves connected to a spacious covered terrace with beautiful views of the countryside, garden and pool.
This covered terrace is the heart of the villa, and so everything has been made to make it enjoyable, from the choice of its exotic wood construction, to the forged iron pergola with high-tech covering and the integrated fine-spray cooling system for typical hot Provencal afternoons.
From the terrace one can immediately enjoy the lawn, pool or mineral garden, with its selection of different pebbles and gravels, in the shade of a weeping willow, ash, maple and willow trees.
The concrete saltwater pool has a large, very shallow area, in which children and adults can relax in a few inches of refreshing water, a seating area from which to enjoy the views to the south, and several steps leading down to its 1.50m depth.
Its deepest point is 1.65m, allowing diving with due caution.
The pool is equipped with an electric pool cover which complies with the French safety rules governing swimming pools and can conveniently be opened and closed via a wireless transmitter.
For those who enjoy the pleasure of a good, long swim, without the boundaries of a pool, there is a high quality German flow current generator, enabling unlimited swimming on the spot, for fun or for exercise, and lots of amusement for children young and old!
A sophisticated, energy efficient heating system provides water at a comfortable 28°C, although the sun can frequently raise it to 29°C or 30°C during hot August days.
The pool can be maintained by our personnel throughout your stay.
The villa itself was constructed to fulfil the requirements of the Eco-Friendly BBC Label (Batiment Basse Consommation) with superior insulation, to keep it nice and cool in summer and limit the need to use the premium air-conditioning system installed in 2019.
All of the windows have mesh screens (either fixed or mobile), so that windows can be left open throughout the night, allowing cool night breezes to circulate freely throughout the house, without the need to use unhealthy mosquito killing chemical products.
The garden is kept mosquito-free by two sophisticated German 'mosquito hoovers', which again avoid the use of potentially toxic chemicals, and have proven to be remarkably efficient.
