About this apartment rental
Breathtaking views of the ocean, coastline, lush green hills, and palms! With a picturesque ocean view, our top floor condo offers privacy, cooling trade winds and panoramic ocean vistas which a camera can't begin to capture. We could see sail boats on the ocean and whales’ out in the distance. Crashing waves, migrating whales and sunrise/sunset views are what you will see as you relax on the lanai or in the living space. Our unit is a spacious 2-bedroom, 2.5 bath with over 1100 sq. ft. of living space. Master bedroom has king size bed, fully private en suite bathroom, and Air Conditioning. The ultra-luxurious, Cal king size bed, a top-of-the-line resort style mattress, is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. We use high thread count sheets. The guest bedroom has 2 twin beds, and it can be converted to a king size upon request, and Air Conditioning. Ocean breezes cool you naturally as they are pulled through the living room sliding glass doors. The unit is designed to maximize privacy with the living and dining space on the first level and bedrooms on the second level. For your comfort, beach chairs, soft beach towels, and more are included for your days at the beach. This designer’s living room furniture is very comfortable perfect for laying back to watch the waves, listen to CDs, or watch cable TV. This brand-new Hawaiian dining room table with comfy chairs is your exclusive seat to spot playful spinner dolphins. On our large lanai are four chairs and 2 tables; you will be so comfortable; you may not want to leave. Seeing a rainbow, or the moon shimmering over the water will create lifetime memories. Recently upgraded well-equipped gourmet kitchen includes high quality new appliances, dishwasher, microwave, oven and refrigerator with filtered water and ice dispenser. There is high speed wireless internet to keep you connected, master bedroom and the living room has its own TV with cable service. Beach chairs, soft beach towels, umbrellas, cooler, aqua shoes, snorkeling sets, and more are included for your days at the beach. Be sure to ask about all the beach amenities we provide. A full-size washer and dryer are also in the unit. Because we know you are probably tired and hungry after your long journey, we give you an 'Aloha Basket' with snacks and coffee, so that you can immediately begin to relax. The condo complex itself offers several amenities. There is a private swimming saltwater pool and heated spa central to your building. A lighted tennis court and a protected lava rock barbecue grill pavilion are also onsite. Poipu is on the Southern and sunniest point of Kauai. Poipu Beach Park is a short 6 block walk away. The surrounding lava rocks at that beach create a protected swimming area perfect for children. At the adjacent beach you can swim with sea turtles and boogie board. Surfing is also close by at the Hyatt and Marriott Resorts' public beaches and Shipwrecks Beach. A short ride or doable walk from the condo provides more surfing, snorkeling and wave boarding opportunities. Poipu also hosts an array of restaurants, shopping experiences and farmers markets. New updates include freshly painted walls, new furniture, new beds, and primary shower.

The place was very nice and pretty clean! The ocean views every day were incredible. We traveled with an 18 month old and there was no high chair, but they did have child silverware. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is clean. There are a lot of stairs, which was hard hauling our baby and all our stuff for the day. Overall it was pretty great!

Our family of four enjoyed our stay in this spacious, clean, updated townhouse style condo with an ocean view. It is a 15 minute walk to Poipu beach and short drive to restaurants and grocery stores. The unit is well-stocked with beach equipment and kitchen essentials for cooking meals. My one criticism is that the portable A/C units in the bedrooms are extremely loud and kept waking me up in the middle of the night. It was a tradeoff for the relief from the heat.

We enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was a perfect south side location, close to beaches and shopping and easy access to the main road around the island. The property manager was responsive and allowed us extend our stay on the last day to accommodate a change in our boat tour. Overall the property was clean and comfortable but could use a bit of updating, especially the upstairs bedrooms/bathrooms. I would recommend this property.

Our family of four stayed here for our first four nights in Kauai and we were not disappointed. The location is perfect- waking up to those views did not get old! The condo is just as described. The ACs worked great in the bedrooms to cool off at night, and the tradewind kept the first floor nice and cool (utilize the front screen door and the slider screens for airflow). It was a quick walk or drive to Poipu beach (plenty of parking there). There is also a great walk along the ocean that brings you to Shipwreck beach. I ran from the condo to Poipu then back to the path to shipwreck and back to the condo. It was just over 3 miles total and a great way to say goodbye to such a lovely area. Mahalo!

We were in Kauai celebrating our 45th anniversary and had our two oldest grandchildren with us for their high school graduation trip. We fell in love with the place as soon as we opened the front door and saw the view through the back patio doors. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained around the pool area and along the coast. We appreciated having a kitchen area that was well stocked with good quality cookware, spices and accessories. Thank you for providing beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. It made the trip that much more enjoyable. The peacefulness of the area as well as the condo being conveniently located within minutes of 2 of the nicest beaches on the island was a plus. We were grateful to have the option of being able to use the A/C in the bedrooms but we loved hearing the waves and having the ocean breeze through the open windows. We are so happy that we chose this unit to spend our 9 nights in Kauai.

Overall it was a great place to stay. A little dusty. Location was good. Not a lot of steps in the stairs but tricky spiral steps to go up to the second room. The kitchen drawers should be dusted or organized. They should buy more of the suitcase stands, really helps.
The place has an air conditioner but with so many remotes that we couldn’t figure it out how to turn it on. Anyway, you can leave the windows open and you don’t really need it.

Entire property complex is dated and needs some updates, however it is kept clean.
The unit itself has had some nice updates. The pictures of the unit on the listing show the unit in its best light, but in person the flaws are very apparent. Carpeting and doors seem to be original and while still functional, are not on the same level as the rest of the unit.
While the unit does have air conditioning in the two bedrooms, what is not explained is that the air conditioner is a large unit inside of the rooms. It is about the size of a small refrigerator. And it is very loud. It was too warm to sleep with just the windows open, but that meant trying to sleep with the loud air conditioner running.
What is not disclosed in the property description is that there are three flights of stairs to get to the unit. This was not a huge deal for us personally, but my wife doesn't pack light. Had this been my parents renting this unit, there would've been no way for them to handle all the stairs.
Specific to our trip, the main bathroom shower was non-functional for 3 out of the 4 nights. Though we asked about canceling our reservation after the first night so that we could find other accommodations with a working shower, property manager did not offer this, and a very minimal amount was returned for the deficiencies of the property.

Makahuena was excellent. Everything from location to weather to wonderful sunrises and walks along the coast allowed for a perfect welcome and first experience on Kaua’i. This condo did not disappoint and the property manager was very attentive and patiently answered all my questions. I highly recommend Po’ipu beach for the sea turtles and Monk seals and Puka Dog for lunch and Brennecke’s for dinner. They are literally just down the way and walking distance. We will definitely be back!

Property was very clean, spacious, and has a great layout. The remodeled bathrooms and kitchen were very nice - sometimes a rental sometimes feels “cheap”, this was very much the opposite. My family loved using the amenities such as boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach chairs. Great views, my wife and I loved just staring at the ocean from the balcony. Would absolutely go back to this property if we revisited Kauai! Cheers!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this place! Check-in and check-out was very straightforward and the property management team were quick to respond to our queries.
The view from the balcony was beautiful (just as you see in the pictures) and it was the perfect location/accommodation for our family of four. Our kids appreciated all the beach amenities they provided. The weather was cool enough that we didn't need the AC in either of the rooms, and this place only added to the overall fantastic time we had in Kauai. If we ever come back, we'll likely look to stay here again!

This was our first trip to Hawaii so we didn’t know what to expect. We opened the front door of this property and saw straight through to the magnificent ocean view from the lanai. We sat looking at that view every sunrise and every sunset. The location in Poi’pu is perfect, close to great restaurants and shops. Everything was clean and well organized when we arrived. We really appreciated the binder of information about restaurants, grocery shopping, farmers markets and other helpful stuff. Evelyn was very helpful and super responsive. We can’t wait to be back in Kaua’i! 🌴🌺🌞🍍

I made the mistake of assuming "Air Conditioning" meant Central A/C as I am used to. I was disappointed it was only portable air conditioner units with window vents in the upstairs bedrooms, which are loud to sleep with, but that's on me for not clarifying further. There was no A/C in the downstairs living area, just a fan, so when you came home from a day out it was very warm downstairs and opening the patio and front doors never really cooled it down.
The upstairs carpet and baths could use a refresh, but was otherwise comfortable as long as the a/c unit was on.
None of these are dealbreakers--we'd stay here again.

Evelyn was very communicative from months to days before the reservation. The property was well maintained, and all important things to know for check in/check out and settling in were written out in detail. Will look up this property again if I get another chance to visit Kauai.

We loved our Stay! Perfect Location in Poipu for my family. We enjoyed watching the ocean from the living room and bedroom. Sea Turtles swimming right outside the property. Poipu Beach in walking distance. The condo was clean and quiet and we were welcomed with a 100% aloha spirit! Fully equipped with everything you need to go to the beach. I would love to stay here again!!

Our family had a great time at the Poipu property! The facility was great, close location to area beaches and an amazing clean and refreshing pool.
Accommodations were comfortable and felt right at home. Only suggestion would be to add a cutting board in the kitchen (apologies if we missed!) but it was very well stocked and clean.
We left a cooler for other families to use - we needed it for lunches & drinks on the beach. And thank you for all the swimming/beach equipment.

Perfectly located in Popui with a beatiful ocean view. Mid-way walking distance to both Poipu beach and Shipwreck beach. Direct access to the sandstone trail. The first floor is renovated…but the second floor (2 bedrooms) is not. The carpet is really old and it gets really stuffy and hot. Both rooms have AC units but they are very loud and impossible to sleep with. There are ceiling fans but the windows cannot be opened making nights a little uncomfortable. A change of upstairs carpet, central AC and fixing the windows would really transform this condo into a real gem and luxurious perfectly located condo.

Easy walk to the beach! Beautiful Views from balcony and property! Nice pool-not busy. Overall we loved our stay at the house. The only downside that is out of control of the owners is a lower neighbor or guest of the property who smoked in the mornings and later afternoon. The smell would creep into upstairs bedrooms, especially in early morning. Not a great way to wake up, but again that’s not the owners fault, but something people should be aware of in case it’s a tigger.

My husband, adult daughter and her 3 month old stayed for five nights in this beautiful condo. With the baby and my husband working (great WiFi) we spent more time in the condo than a normal vacation so we were happy with how comfortable it was. And the view was amazing. We cooked most meals in the well stocked kitchen.
We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Communication with the host was informative and plentiful. Yes there are stairs but they were not as bad as I feared (short flights, well marked and safe, good handrails).
We walked to Shipwreck Beach but drove everywhere else, although without the baby we could have walked to Brennecke’s and Poipu Beach. Although we did not see whales, we did see sea turtles on Poipu Beach!

The kitchen had updated appliances and was stocked with all the essentials. 1 boogie board, a couple kickboards, snorkel gear, two beach chairs, and tennis rackets were there for your use. 5-10 min walk to Poipu Beach, or 10-15 min walk to Shipwreck beach. We received lots of communications from the management company before and during our stay to ensure everything was great. Our experience was great here.

The condo was perfect. Clean, comfortable, and close to great beaches and food! We saw so many whales and turtles from the balcony! Check in and check out was fast and simple with great communication from the property manager from the moment we booked it to when we were checking out. Would definitely come back!

We spent three nights here. The lanai was our favorite as we saw many whales frolicking in the ocean. Everything was just as represented. A couple of minor maintenance problems that will likely be resolved before the next guests. Great location and lovely setting.
