About this house rental
Say hello to the Front Range, small town, Rocky Mountain vacation or wedding weekend home of your dreams.
Perched atop an eight story cliff rising straight up from the St. Vrain River
& overlooking the Planet Bluegrass festival grounds, enjoy downtown convenience and privacy, along with breathtaking valley and 14'000 mountain views.
Located at the very mouth of the canyon that leads to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park, 15 minutes from Boulder, your 1,350 sq. ft, 2 BR & Queen sleeping loft/2 Bath accommodations set at the top of 1/3 acre are a living expression of the local environment - passive solar, native sandstone floors, 16' vaulted cedar ceilings, alpine breezes, unparalleled St. Vrain Canyon, Continental Divide and Steamboat Mountain views from the master bedroom, open living area, large shaded back deck, clifftop patio, and fully fenced backyard.
Causally comfortable and artfully decorated, if you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy seamlessly indoors and out and savor the very best of what Colorado has to offer, you've found your spot. If birds could design a cliff-top castle - and you will see plenty, maybe even our resident eagles - this is likely what they'd build.
By day enjoy the river, spectacular hiking, and trout fishing, or world class mountain biking, by evening grilling and dinner on the deck and one magnificent sunset after another. Start your day with another perfect sunrise and end your night around the propane fire pit, serenaded by the river and windchimes, marveling at the abundant stars.
Make a day of Denver (45 mins) or Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park (30 mins); Buzz into Boulder for world class cuisine, national touring acts and the University of Colorado.
Don't want to break the spell and jump into a car? Explore Lyons by foot with Main Street two blocks from your front door. Start your day on the patio of Moxie at the bottom of the street. Pick up a sandwich at the St Vrain Market and go tubing in Lavern Johnson Park. Visit the galleries, gift shops and antique stores, before craft beers at Mainstage or the original Oskar Blues. Have an exceptional dinner at Marigold or Farra, maybe a cocktail, or award wining whiskey or gin at Spirit Hound distillery. How about some old school pinball before catching some lively local music, or kicking back around the fire pit at the Rock Garden? The possibilities and rewards are endless.
A weekend here will take your breath away; a week will top your heart off with the memory of a lifetime; a long-term stay will ease your spirit and restore your soul.
Welcome Home.
* We welcome our well-behaved canine friends ($50 for 1/$75 for 2); please be aware that the fence is less than 4' in places and there can be plenty of wildlife tempting an overly exuberant dog :)
* Please Note: the home is not handicapped accessible and may not be practical for all those with limited mobility.

Amazing house, perfect host
4.8
We absolutely loved our stay here! The host was extremely responsive and friendly, he provided plenty of information in response to any of our questions. Checking in/out was very easy (especially due to the host’s quick communication).
Lyons Den was cozy and comfortably housed our group for a whole week. We had access to virtually anything we needed, the house was stocked with anything we could think of. Overall, very clean and had fun decorations. It is also conveniently located to the town center as well as the main roads that lead to Boulder or Estes Park. We were able to walk to a few restaurants and stores on days where we didn’t feel like going to the city for dinner.
I would highly recommend Lyons Den to anyone taking a trip to RMNP or the nearby wedding venues!

This house was perfect for attending a wedding a Planet Bluegrass. The proximity to the various venues was a real plus. Hope to stay here again.

Our group of 4 adults stayed here for a wedding at Lionscrest manor and had more than enough space. Could easily accommodate 6 adults and still have plenty of room. Comfy beds, spacious living area and an awesome back deck. Great communication and easy check in/out process. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

What a great place to stay with in town convenience with privacy and beautiful views.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while
In town for a wedding at Riverbend venue. The home is a 5 minute walk to downtown Lyons and the venue. It’s an eclectic home with interesting artwork and great views. The king bed was comfortable (we didn’t use the queen room or the loft), and there were plenty of fresh white bath towels. The en-suite bathroom off the king room is updated nicely. We really enjoyed the views from the outdoor patio, propane grill and firepit. Any communication with the owner was quick and professional. This was a charming quirky home in a quiet mountain town and has all of the essentials you need for alittle getaway. We enjoyed our time here.

We stayed here for the Folks Fest. We were 3 adult couples. Everyone in my group raves about the convenience of the location. You can see the stage clearly from the yard. The owner provided binoculars so we could see the performers up close.
There’s a scenic river separating the house from the venue but a short 10 min walk gets you there.
We took lots of breaks during the festival to take a short nap or eat lunch at the house.
It has a nice patio for relaxing with a morning cup of joe as you watch a steady stream of hummingbirds fly by.
We all agreed that we’d rent this house again. 2 thumbs up.

The house was very comfortable with great views and a less than 10 minute walk to the music festival. Ethan worked very hard to be sure our stay was perfect.

Breathtaking views!
We had a lovely stay while in Lyons for a family wedding. The house was minutes from the wedding venue and convenient to the rehearsal dinner in Boulder. Rustic charm with breathtaking views from the back yard. Beds were very comfortable and the set up of the house was great for our family.

Seamless from start to finish!
Ethan was so responsive and the house was just perfect for our event! The master bedroom bed, was unbelievably comfortable and its bathroom had been updated and it was just adorable! Very much enjoyed our stay! Not to mention the stunning views!

The house inside was very clean and had everything we needed. How ever I was a bit surprised when I saw the condition of the yard and patio. The yard was full of weeds. We could not even see some of the seeping stones or plants.. over all we had a great time. Just too bad about the patio and yard..

We were thrilled with Lyons Den. A perfect little retreat nestled in the Red Rock hills of Lyons with spectacular views and walking distance to a charming little town. Estes and RMNP are a short drive away.
The house was comfortable, clean, spacious and the views... extraordinary.
Get up for a short morning walk, grab a coffee at Stone Cup Coffee, and head over to Laverne Johnson Park, a great place to sip your coffee with spectacular views.
Then head to The Vranian Market where a friendly staff will help you pack a delicious picnic for your park adventure.
Lyons Den was a surprising gem. We feel like we hit the accommodation lottery and are already planning our trip back.

Gorgeous location
We had a great stay at this beautiful location. Shops and reataurants nearby and a great view out of the back yard. The property manager was responsive and easy to work with when we hit a bump in the road due to a technical error. We had a great time in Lyons!

We loved our stay at Lyons den. We had our 2 adult family members with us and the house was a perfect home base for our vacation day trips that included hiking, horseback riding, camping (the boys), whitewater rafting and so much more. Enjoyed walking into town for coffee, dinner etc. The views from the house of the red rock hills, the winding St Vrain river, and the Town below were gorgeous !We’d love to come back!

Wedding week
I stayed here with my bridesmaids the week of my wedding. The location was wonderful. We were walking distance from downtown Lyons and walked to the Stone Cup every morning for coffee. The views were amazing and the house was the perfect size for us.

The PERFECT Place!
This property was the perfect place to stay for our daughter's wedding at Planet Bluegrass. Walking distance from PG but still secluded enough to feel you are getting away. And the property--the house itself and the outside area--is fantastic!

Gorgeous House/Stunning Views
This house is gorgeously designed and decorated and it has everything you could need for a very comfortable stay. The views of the surrounding landscape are stunning and the outdoor area is perfect for taking in the views. Plus it's a few minutes walk from the center of town. We were here for a wedding at Riverbend Park which is also just a few minutes walk from the house. We were so impressed with the house and the lots of lovely touches that made it a very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

Wonderful stay
We came to Lyons for a college graduation for a quick 5 days vacation. We really enjoyed our stay in the house despite 2 days of snow and freezing rain but Colorado can be that way in early May. It was well stocked with everything you needed as far a paper products , cleaning supplies. We didn't have to waste money on things like dish detergent etc , it was all here. We had 8 people over for a luncheon and there was plenty of space for all. After the clouds and fog on the mountain tops dissipated the views around the house were awesome. Ethan was a great host. He is responsive and even made sure we were ok when it snowed. Answered all my emails in a timely fashion. The location couldn't have been better. Close to RMNP Boulder and a short drive to Fort Collins. Beds were comfy and everyone slept great. Very quiet neighborhood.
Thank you again.

A Colorado down-home gem
We stayed a full week and very much enjoyed all the property had to offer. We have family in Lyons so the location for us was perfect. While the place is not one for the persons seeking a Hampton Inn experience, it is very comfortable and well equipped. Ethan was very nice (we saw him for maybe five minutes). The place has everything one might need and a very comfortable bed. It is not a new home and shows wear, but nothing to detract from its likeability. Very much enjoyed our stay. Vic and Phyllis

Our Favorite CO Retreat
Amazingly kind owner, amazingly beautiful view. We were hooked the first time, felt even more at home round two. Just a beautiful, cozy, unique, home. We ADORE it!

Great location
Although it was in a great location, in the center of Estes Park and Boulder, the house it self is clearly showing its age. The owner appears to be updating the house, but has a ways to go. The only way to watch any television is to climb a narrow spiral staircase. Once there, the loft has a very steep, slanted roofline. We did thoroughly enjoy the town of Lyons.
4.8
Beautiful view, cozy house!
The house has an awesome deck with a beautiful view. The fenced yard was perfect for our canine companion. The home had all of the kitchen necessities for cooking and grilling. Beds were comfortable & the loft area worked well for a tv get away location and another bedroom.
Ethan responded quickly when we had questions and was extremely helpful. Wonderful stay in a beautiful home.

Great place!
Enjoyed the home! Getting up to the front door was steep but the atmosphere of the place made you feel secluded even though you are in town. Great home! Clean, owner easy to work with!!

Beautiful views and perfect for a quiet getaway!
The house sits on top a cliff with amazing views of the mountains and river below. My fiancée and I are from Denver and spent a long weekend there, and it was the perfect getaway from the city. It’s right up the street from a great coffee shop and on the way to Estes Park. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the foothills.

We had an absolutely fabulous time visiting Colorado during our youngest son's wedding weekend (26 - 29 May 2017)! Our time in Lyons was exponentially enhanced by staying at Ethan Marlatt's, Lyons Den. It was the perfect retreat! Ethan had everything ready for us upon our arrival. So thankful to have booked and stayed here...we're definitely promoted to make a return trip in the not too distant future. The Lyons Den...great value, great location for "YOUR" vacation destination! -- Eugene 😎

Thoroughly enjoyed myself in the Lyons Den! Such a quaint, relaxing home with an incredible outdoor area. The home provides everything you will need, as well as speakers throughout the house, and fantastic views. It's unfortunate I had to leave.

Absolutely beautiful home! We enjoyed sitting on the patio, soaking up the sun and enjoying the view for HOURS. We were very happy to be within walking distance of the wonderful, eclectic town of Lyons and we also appreciated the stocked kitchen for cooking family meals. Thank you so much for our perfect stay!

We parked our car and didn't move it till we left a few days later. The town was charming and was a short walk from the house. The house made us feel immediately comfortable and at home. The views from the house were quite stunning and are even better in person. Ethan checked in with us via email and we didn't need anything after we arrived. Wished we could have stayed longer and hope to come back some day.

We visited Colorado to meet up with family for hiking and biking and were left very impressed by the experience. Lyons is a cute little town with lots of eating/drinking options as well as being centrally located for easy day trips out to many areas of interest. The house was clean and comfortable with great views from the back patio and a short walk into town. We would recommend this house if you aren't super touristy and plan to spend a mellow day or two at home base chilling out. Ethan was responsive and helpful before, during and after our stay. We hope to stay here again!
