We loved the convenience and location of this fabulous apartment. The apartment was less than 3 mins walk to the closest subway entrance and very close to great restaurants and eateries on the UWS. The apartment had plenty of natural light, and kept us comfortable with aircon and radiator.
We did a bit of cooking in the apartment and it had all the basics we needed to make a decent meal for the two of us. Our only complaint was that the apartment did feel like it needed a good deep clean. It was dusty in places and the floor looked like it needed to be vacuumed more thoroughly.
A really pleasant stay and I would certainly book again for future stays in NY.

Quiet & Comfortable
We enjoyed our stay in this classic turn of the century brownstone apartment. All the amenities were there as advertised and the location was quiet, but close to subway, Central Park, restaurants, etc. Dov is a good host & we would stay here again.

Location is great - lodging is old and run down
We loved the location, half a block from Central Park where we spent a lot of time. Metro was close, as was a Citi-Bike kiosk and lots of restaurants. The lodging itself is in a very run-down building and the suite is showing its age: chipped enamel in the tub, layers of peeling paint, a 1960’s era gas range. Dishes are chipped, pots and pans aren’t very good quality, and you’ll probably need to bring your own toilet paper. But the a/c works, bed is comfortable, and if you aren’t spending a ton of time there, it’ll do just fine. The neighbourhood is really nice, and the suite itself is dead-quiet. So if you can look past how tired and old it is, it is a great place to stay , with quick Metro access to all the sights.

Great location close to subway, old apartment in a beautiful street a little bit shabby but charming. For sure would need a set of fork and spoon, some more plates

Very clean, very centrally located. Was a perfect stay for us. Only complaint was the condo could use some more forks and spoons, but aside from that it was well stocked
Thanks for the great stay

Everything was fine. No complains. The apartment is in a quiet area which is nice after having spend lots of time in noisy Streets of Manhattan.

I really enjoyed my stay at this large studio apartment. Dov was a great host and very responsive to any questions. The bed was comfortable, the pre-war building style was charming with high ceilings and plenty of space, and a New York size kitchen with a regular sized refrigerator. The location and neighborhood was ideal just 1/2 block to Central Park and the subway B/C lines and lots of great restaurants and Whole Foods near by.

We stayed in the apartment for a week and enjoyed A few hours a day in the apartment. It was perfect for us and had everything that we needed. Wifi worked well. Kitchen was perfect for making easy dinners. Bed was very comfortable. We never heard/saw any neighbours and felt very safe. The apartment was clean and close to central park/whole foods and the subway. I will definitely go back to stay here, good value for money. Please note that the furniture is old/antique but it was in good shape, clean and very comfortable. In short, we enjoyed our stay!!

The location is perfect - a 1 minute walk to Central Park, 3 mins to the subway, 5 minutes to a good supermarket and restaurants, 20-30 minutes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim, 30-40 min walk to Union Square and the Broadway theatres and the same again, but in the opposite direction, to the Gospel churches in Harlem. The apartment is in a street of brownstones; it's pretty and the street parking is free. The apartment itself has what we wanted for our family of four -a good TV, a good air conditioner, a proper dining table, a good stove and fridge & the sofa bed was big and comfy. There is an issue with the shower draining, but Dov was quick to fix it. We looked for a long time; I doubt you will find a better deal.

Great Location
The location is great 1/2 block from Central Park. Its an old place but the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was big enough for our needs making coffee in the morning. We spent most our time traveling the city so this place was very convenient but it could use some touch up.

Charming! But filthy and broken furniture
This apartment is in a great residential part of the city close to Central Park and major buses and subways. However, the pillows were filthy, the furniture was wobbly, the kitchen had only one light bulb, most of the dishes were chipped or cracked, and there was only one roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. My wife kept complaining about her smelly hair, not realizing at first that it was the pillow. Enough said. From the same money, go to a neighborhood hotel.

Budget apartment in great location
The apartment was certainly in a wonderful location. The proximity to subway , Central Park and restaurants and shops a few blocks away, was phenominal. The 3 star rating was because of the things mentioned in other reviews. The apartment was not very clean. I swept and washed floors and vacuumed when we arrived. There were some mouse droppings by the radiator in the bathroom and ants in the bathroom. To be fair, this is an old brownstone and the bathroom window could give these "critters" easy access. We did bring our own towels and I am glad we did because there were only 3 towels there. The bed was fine for us, we slept great, but sheets were very thin. Having said this, if the place were just cleaned up more and new linens and towels were provided, maybe some IKEA type furniture for sofa and table, this place could easily be 4 star. It really has charm and "good bones" .

Location, location, location- stayed 11/27-12/4 2016
The good:
LOCATION- train station literally at the end of the block. Central Park entrance only 2 blocks in either direction. Great restaurants and stores close by.
Decent internet connection and plenty of TV channels
Comfortable sofa
Storage galore in a huge bathroom. (Pocket door slides smoothe now)
Plenty of hot water
Kitchen is sufficiently supplied with dishes, pans, appliances, etc. (could use a few extra mugs/glasses and silverware)
Only two flights of stairs. Note: Although the place is pet friendly, I wouldn't suggest bringing a medium sized or large dog with mobility issues. The stairs are steep and there are a lot of them. Others wrote about the second flight being slanted. It is, but I didn't feel unsafe. It's fine.
Dov was responsive to issues that arose
The bad:
Bare bones. Bring supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, sponge, etc.
Downstairs tenants smoked cigarettes non-stop. Smoke rises and we were so affected, we had to have the windows open at all times even though it was quite cold. (The boiler had to be fixed at one point, but again, Dov was on top of that)
The water needs to be run for several minutes before it's clear. (Old building)
The bed is hard as a rock. This is a con in my opinion, but may be good for some.
Not the cleanest place I've ever stayed, but I saw no evidence of mice as someone else mentioned. Also, I always bring my own linens and towels when traveling and I suggest you do too.
Overview:
If not for the cigarette smoke, which is in no way is under Dov's control, I would stay again. This place has so much potential. As a decorator, I wanted to cry. Could be really beautiful! Again, location, location, location!

Great Location and Large Space
We stayed for 7 days in December and found the apartment to be a great place to base our NYC visit. As others have said, its a 5 star location - elegant old brownstone homes, safe, quiet, peaceful, close to subway, bus and in good proximity to terrific grocery stores. This particular building is the least attractive of all the others on the block. The room itself is substantial, allowing us to spread out and enjoy having a real table and sofa to relax on. The bathroom is also unusually large. The kitchenette is tiny but adequate for reheating take out or light meals. Everything worked for us. Hot water was plentiful. We didn't use the wifi. There were no instructions for it - you should ask Dov about it if you need it. The furnishings and decor are not what I'd call 5 star, but this is a budget accommodation so base your expectations accordingly. The building must have been quite elegant years and years ago from the looks of the wall and ceiling decoration but it is now serving its purpose as an affordable rental in a fantastic location for those of us not accustomed to NYC prices! The infamous bathroom door that others have mentioned slides effortlessly now and the sloping stairs were no big deal. Maybe they too had been reinforced or fixed somehow as they certainly felt secure, just a bit at an angle. The bed was comfortable. Yes, the linens and towels are mismatched and most are thin and an additional blanket in winter would be nice - however with the radiator heat you are cozy (so much so that we had the windows open all the time to moderate the heat). It was clean enough for us - it is a very old property so is not perfect. We would agree with others though that it would have been helpful to have an information sheet on things like what to do with the garbage, who to call if have problems, wifi password, where the subway/bus stops, groceries and restaurants are close by. If you are not fussy people but appreciate a good value this is a great place to stay. We hope to be able to return.

Not great, I would spend more to get a better place.
We stayed 10 nights and it was not the cleanest place. I found some mouse poop on the first day and the holes in the window let bugs in so we received bites while sleeping. Bathroom door doesn't close properly. The location was wonderful and the room was spacious. Central Park is close and the subway is very close. I was stressed about being bitten by bugs while we slept so we didn't sleep well. I wouldn't recommend this place overall.

Good
The apartment was great. The location was awesome close to Central Park and the subway. Our only complaint would be we did not have WiFi. It was there and was suppose to be supplied. There was no way of knowing what the network was called or the password. We Emailed Dov but he didn't seem to know either. WiFi is important to have when you are out of country. Data roaming charges can add up quick. A piece of paper with the network name and password taped to the modem would solve this for the next renter

Great Location!!!!
Great location!! Subway is down the street, Central Park is less than a block away. The bathroom door needs to be fixed, it's very heavy to open and close. We stayed for 11 nights, it was quite and felt like home :)

Great location, old property
I booked this large studio apartment for a week in June 2016 for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children). It is a very large space, in a great location in NYC. We didn't have a car, so being close to the subway was a must. There were really good restaurants and museums walking distance from the studio. And Dov responded to all my e-mail questions quickly.
The building is very old and the unit could use a great deal of maintenance. The staircase from the second floor to the third floor sags. There is a very heavy pocket door for the bathroom that sticks making it very hard to open and close. We had a few ants in the bathroom (not enough to call Dov over, but enough for me to mention). And the air conditioning unit is very loud.
I would stay in this unit again because it was a great price with a great location. It is hard to find something in this price range with this location and this amount of space.

Ideal location, shabby chic, quiet and comfy
This studio is large and quiet with a comfortable seating area, a full size dining table, a bathroom with an ample closet and a well-equipped kitchen. The bed was comfortable and the wifi functioned well. While it wasn't fancy or luxurious, we found it a most relaxing place to be after a busy day in the city. We didn't do laundry while we were there, but apparently a place down the block is available and it delivers. My one suggestion is that the owner provide an informational sheet with details about laundry, garbage, the area, emergency contacts should anything go wrong, etc. That said, I would love to rent it again if it's available when we return to NYC for another visit!

Great location!
My husband, 16 year old son and I all felt that the apartment was perfect for us. The couch was so comfortable that our son didn't even pull out the queen sofa bed! The bed was also very comfy. Great surprise....There is so much closet space in the bathroom. Lots of hangers and hanging space, along with shelves. Very nice surprise! Loved that the subway and Central Park were less than a block away and several museums were so close. The apartment was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Very quiet neighborhood! Shower was great and I was thrilled that we always had plenty of hot water. We never saw or spoke with Dov, but he had everything ready for us. In the hood, we enjoyed Bodrum's Turkish and Bella Luna Italian restaurants, 5 Napkin burger, AMC theater, Pete's Pizza and stocked up at Zabar's with breakfast and dinner treats. I already miss the bagels with salmon. Only issue we had was with the pocket door (original, I'm sure) to the bathroom. It's lovely, but very heavy and we couldn't get it to open/close. We ended up hanging a sheet over the door way. Worked great for us, but non family members might have an issue with that. Radiator is quite powerful, but we just opened the window to cool things down a bit. (There is a window ac, but we didn't need it) Could have used another pillow or 2 and some extra bath and kitchen towels. Those are really just suggestions. Would love to stay there again. Thank you, Dov.
