The home was spacious and the bathroom is huge with ample toiletries. The location is good as a Co-op is within a 5 min walk. And the town within 10 mins walk. A comfortable drive to The Roaches and Bakewell and Chatsworth House. There was ample coffee and tea, sugar etc. And sufficient cutlery and crockery. The kitchen was clean. Free WiFi and clear instructions were left on the sideboard.
Please note that the staircases are steep so may not be ideal for people with mobility issues.
The place was cold when we checked in after 6pm. I asked the host if we could turn on the heating and the host responded with a yes.
Cleanliness! It was rather dusty and looked as if the place had not been vacuumed well, especially the bedrooms. The bedding and soft furnishings in the living room could do with replacement as they are rather worn.
Upon entry I noticed that there were a few rubbish bags in the backyard. One of the bags had been disturbed by an animal so there was rubbish strewn about. I informed the host and was told it would be attended to but it was still the same when we left after 3 nights. There were also ashtrays that had not been emptied in the backyard. I don’t think that is acceptable.
In the main bedroom, there was a little single bed so I removed the blanket to take the extra pillows but then found that the 2 pillows did not have any pillowcases!
I wanted to take this property as it said it had a wood-burning stove. Yes, the stove is there but not firewood. I asked the host and I was told that we could buy some nearby. The advertisement on Booking plainly states there is a fire but what is the point if there is no firewood supplied? I definitely do not recall the advert saying
I have to buy my own firewood.
Finally, entering and exiting the bath is a little slippery, so I think it needs to be addressed.

Kitchen clean and well equipped, property full of mis match stuff along broken.empt boxes.Plenty of games but non complete.towels smelt sour and we're very old.The bathroom had a horrid smell opened the cupboard there was an airer with damp towels that had been put in there.Property not like the pict very tired and in need of tlc.it was very cold and my dad is 86,we weren't able to put Central heating on 2 little electric radiators for the whole property.I understand it was Aughst but not typical August weather.2 rooms in attic space particularly cold.takeaway cartons in bedroom draws.Full ashtrays in the garden and dead plants not like pictures.Part of back gate hanging off which we mended for security reasons.Positive was location to.our wedding,,Road very busy and fast traffic not really a cottage.sorry for bad feed back been to lots of booking.com property's with family and friend and this is the only one I have had cause to complain about.I have another trip in 3 weeks hopefully better
Sorry as above

It was basically a base to our holiday nothing more than that.
The whole house was dirty. When we took the bedding off after our stay the pillows duvets and sheets were dirty with stains and the pillows were lumpy. The location isn’t great and have to walk a long way from where you can park your car.
3.5
The location was excellent much nearer to Alton Towers than we thought and that was the purpose of our visit. We also requested an extra night which you gave us without any complications. It was perfect for what we wanted especially with children.
The problem getting rid of rubbish (we managed to do this) but did feel there should have been a refuse bin to use.

Leek is very quiet and nice town,The house is ok with everything you need.
Parking is a issue, sometimes you have to park very far from the house if you can't find any spaces around there. Another issue is the rubbish, you have to take your rubbish to the recycling centre yourself. I don't think all this has been mentioned on the description before reservation.
3.5
The property was full of rustic charm and had everything you would have needed for a home from home experience.
Parking was tricky. Also having to dispose of your own rubbish proved troublesome especially as we were there for two weeks.
3.5
The house is in a good location for peak district. Off street parking and quirky house. In overall good value for money if you are big group or family.

Private Felt like being at home Everything we need Value for money
Had to take our rubbish away with us at the end of the holiday that's all

Location was excellent - central to Leek as expected and stated. It was a quirky residence, where we felt at home easily. Lots of things for young children to do. Generally it was what we expected.
Nothing really to say, as the property was what we expected. It is on a busy road. Couldn't find an ironing board! The chairs were not very comfortable (a little re-upholstery would make a huge difference). Some of the board games could do with replacing - a decent set of chess pieces and a board instead of 2 part-sets we found, broken Connect4 etc. Garden could do with an occasional weeding to sit outside in the sunshine.

1. Fabulous location and price.
2. Interactions with host were positive and she kindly arranged us an extra set of keys for the house.
3. Kitchen and bathroom are well maintained and have everything you need.
4. House was really unique and unusual.
1. The stairs are really steep.
2. House was a little chilly although when the heating kicked in we were happy.
3. Bedding wasn't clean in all the rooms - blood stain on a pillow in main bedroom.
4. Only 1 loo roll for 6 of us for 2 nights so we stole some from the local pub. Would have been nice to know it wasn't provided as would have brought our own. With the provision of towels and toiletries, it was our expectation that would be provided.

The location was close to the town centre, local shops and bus stops. The terraced house was well equipped and generous with kitchen essentials e.g cereals and toiletries.
The pin code was not supplied in advance and we had to contact the owner on arrival to get into the property. Once inside we found the boiler switched off together with notices forbidding us to touch it. Again we had to contact the owner for permission to activate the heating. These were not major issues for us and did not spoil our stay but could be upsetting to others.

Liked the milk and use of store cupboard goods

was good location and big house
It's very strange to have a house without a rubbish bin. It's not easy to take three days worth of rubbish with you . this house is good for maximum 6 people not more then 6 . was damaged chairs which dangerous to seat .
3.5
Loved the location.
House could have been cleaner. It was very cluttered with lots of old furniture. It wasn't very homely .
3.5
It was close to Alton towers so the drive there and back didn’t take too long. It was a good size house for our family of 5 adults and 2 young children.
It was very cluttered and the furniture was old and uncomfortable. It was described as a terraced cottage, but it was just a normal terraced house on a very busy road with lots of old cottage furniture in it.The mattresses were hard and uncomfortable and the beds made lots of creaks and squeaks every time you moved. Also, there were no sheets on the kids beds.
3.5
spacious and querky property. No private parking but this wasn’t an issue. welcome goodies left for us on arrival.
Very strange having to take all rubbish away with you. Not really something you want to take home! says bins are only emptied every 2 weeks but this is the norm everywhere.
3.5
location is great if you want to walk into the town
Firstly we were stood outside in the pouring rain for 15 minutes trying to get in. Called the host to get the code for them to say it was sent earlier that day but it wasn’t, it was sent during the call and I have the screen shot to prove it.
Parking was awful, even though warned there was no parking you don’t expect to hunt around the streets to park nearby.
The house is cluttered, dirty (cobwebs and dust everywhere), don’t expect to find the expected in anywhere acceptable…we didn’t find the cutlery till day 2.
You will need to clean the bathroom first if you want to be clean yourself.
Beds weren’t the best, just laying on wooden crates that were made to look like old wooden bed frame.
Stairs are really steep which made it fun going up and down with luggage.
Also no fire alarm downstairs so make sure you don’t burn the place down.

This house is very well situated in central Leek with lots of amenities close by. We were easily able to park on the nearby side streets.
It is a good sized property which feels very homely. The bedrooms are a good size with comfortable double beds in each one and lots of storage for all your clothes and toiletries.
There are a few minor faults with the kitchen area, but it is a perfectly adequate functional kitchen so don't let that put you off. We enjoyed our stay there!
Lack of a spare cupboard in the kitchen to store non perishable food.
The main oven only had 1 shelf.
Not being able to use the wheely bin and having to take all your rubbish with you was awkward, have never had that in other places we have stayed at.!
3.5
the house was so welcoming. breakfast was on the doorstep vitually if you didnt want to cook and that was amazing.
couldnt fault it for our requirements.

Shower function could not activate

The house was beautiful, beds comfy, very clean and tidy. Had some bits and pieces for the kids to do which was great.
Nothing the place was lovely.

Lots of beds, our young son could stay in our room but didn’t have to stay in our bed!
There was room for two families.
The stairs are very steep but that can’t be helped!

Absolutely nothing. Avoid this property at all costs unless you want to live in filth!
Everything. First of all the parking was a nightmare, we had to park in another street and up on the kerb.
Then the first walk into the property when that musty dirty unclean smell hits you.
Once you get past the smell and into the main living room thats an eye opener. Clutter everywhere, mismatched furniture that looks like its been retrieved from the rubbish tip. The huge cobwebs and dust everywhere, also the playing cards and books lying about shows it hadnt been cleaned before our stay. Also the buttons on the TV remote doesn't work so don't expect to watch anything while your there.
The kitchen was also cluttered, cleaner than the living room until you want to use the cutlery, that looked like it had been dug up from the garden. We ended up having to eat out because of this.
The bathroom was ok on first glance, then i ran my hand around the bath and was met with god knows how many previous guests dead skin, my hand was white. I had to buy cleaning products and it took 2 cleans to get it clean enough to shower.
The first bedroom again filthy, the grime around the bottom of the bed was disgusting. I lifted the mattress to find it was sitting on a pile of pallets, the same as the single bed in the other bedroom. The other bedrooms were also filthy.
The only thing that was clean was the linen!
We booked to stay 2 nights but after that first night the kids and us could not stay there another night and we left first thing in the morning and drove back to scotland after alton towers.
If you are crazy enough to book this place, don't expect and kind of refund, this host will stop contact if its any type of complaint. Nothing but daylight robbery. Place needs looking over from environmental health before shes allowed to advertise on any sites!!!
Dont be fooled by the pictures you see on here, they defo aren't what you are welcomed with when you walk through that door.
3.5
The house was quirky and clean and it was only a 5 minute walk into the main town which was perfect!
Although we had almost everything we need there wasn't enough loo roll or tea bags so we had to get more. And a cafetiere for coffee would of been lovely but not essential!
3.5
there was a smell in the front room which we feel someone had been sick on a chair prior to our visit and as a result we could not use the front room because the smell was very strong
3.5
Location very handy for a weekend at Alton Towers. Very clean and everything you needed was available in the property.
3.5
Good location, in terms of accessibility to Leek. Spacious bathroom. Friendly neighbours.
The house was not clean. Quite grotty and grimy with odd bits of junk left. It felt like someones uncared for home which had been left in a hurry. Towels, bedding etc were cheap. Fire was full of ash, no logs and kindling (which we went and bought) only for the register plate in the fire to fall down. The photos of the house oversold it.
