About this house rental
This is a one of kind custom designed island home with unobstructed waterfront in a very private setting.
The waterfront home has a large open great room with gourmet kitchen, dining area, and family room, with cathedral ceilings. The large front deck has spectacular sunsets views. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on the first floor.
The second floor has a full master suite with private waterview deck! The master bathroom is like no other on the island. Enjoy a relaxing bath in the large soaking tub overlooking the ocean.
You can enjoy family time on the deck, huge front manicured lawn, game of Horseshoes and private access to the water (note, we are on a rocky shoreline, vs. on a beach). Access to miles of trails, and nearby beaches just minutes away.
Prudence Island is a hidden gem! It's a unique welcoming jewel - scenic and secluded - serenity and the slow pace of the Island are from a simpler time and place. The island sits in Narragansett Bay and is accessible by a short 25-minute ferry ride which docks in Bristol, RI. It's a small island full of nature, relaxation and community. Everyone waves to each other; it's just the Prudence way. Summers are full of community activities such as the Annual Fourth of July Parade, Friday Night Bingo, Farnum Farm Ice Cream Social, Fireman's Fair, Kids Night, Wine and Paint, Craft Fairs and much more. Take part in whatever you like.
Prudence is full of history, from Roger Williams to American Revolution to WWII. In World War II, the U.S. Navy established an ammunition depot on the 400 acres southernmost part of the island. In 1972, the Navy turned the base over to the state of Rhode Island, leaving bunkers, roads, and a large deep-water pier. Make sure to visit the Prudence Island Museum, which has a different theme every summer and take part in their walking tour. Prudence has an impressive trail network to historical sites and beaches.
The Narragansett Bay Research Reserve is based on Prudence Island & the headquarters is located in the Lab and Learning Center on the south end of Prudence. During the summer months, the Reserve's "Estuary Ed Shed" is open for visitors. It is also located on the south end of the island at the T-Wharf. The Ed Shed is staffed by seasonal naturalists and has aquarium tanks as well as a touch tank filled with local marine life from the Bay.
There is a small convenience store on Prudence which stocks necessities. There are no restaurants or bars on the island. If you want to go out for a night, take the ferry to Bristol water taxi, or a private vessel.
The only thing you need to bring is your food and linens. We also recommend water shoes for the beach - some beaches are rocky. There are also plenty of opportunities to kayak, bicycle, walk, hike, fish, read and much more.

Yet another beautiful stay at the house. We love it more and more year after year.

It’s the place to be for the sunset. I’m use to coming to this island so I knew to bring a bit of everything, but it had quite a bit to get you started if you weren’t aware of limited access to a store. Definitely looking forward to stay again.

I’ve stayed at Dave & Jenny’s home many times and it is what I look forward to all summer. It’s a beautiful home where I can recharge my battery. Just looking at the beautiful view instantly brings me peace. Everything about the hots and house our top notch.

This property and the owners are one of our favorite places to stay. The tranquility of the island and the location on the island are a perfect sanctuary. Thank you for letting us stay each year.

I think this is the nicest spot on all of Prudence Island. Great house with amazing porch to watch the sunsets over the bay. Right on the Sunset Trail. Minutes to the best of Prudence beaches. And oh... the quiet.

I have always enjoyed spending time in unspoiled nature, and with the Research Ctr on island keeping the majority of PI unfettered by development, that is what I spent time exploring during our stay. Deer prancing across the yard, the gorgeous sunsets, and very cool walking paths from one end of PI to the other.
To top that, we were welcomed and cared for by David and Jenny. Two of the most considerate hosts I've encountered on my travels. Thank you so much my dear nw's!
Their home is cozy, country chic, gorge kitchen and ocean breezes and views from Narragansett Bay.
A do-over for sure! Bon and Ross 🌅

Owners were very responsive and accommodating as we were to be checking in the same time a Hurricane was coming directly towards Rhode Island. House was very spacious and the large decks were wonderful to enjoy meals outdoors and coffee or drinks. Loved playing horseshoes in the yard. Thank you.

I have stayed at this house several times and it never disappoints. The home is beautiful and the sunsets are stunning. David & Jenny are great host.

The house was beautiful and the view was amazing. Sitting on the porch and looking out on the water was a full time activity.
David was responsive when I had questions.
The only negative is I wish that towels, linens were provided or at least there was access to a washer/dryer.
The other thing to note is it’s a bit of a drive to the “main road” and the roads around the house are unpaved which can be a bit bumpy.
Overall though a really lovely house! Enjoyed my time!

This was our 2nd year renting and it was as good as the 1st! Words cannot explain just how beautiful and tranquil this spot is! We spent the whole week outside, from morning coffee to sunset wine…everything was on the deck! Thank you for another fabulous stay!

We have been RI residents for about 15 years and had never been to Prudence. I thought this would be a nice and safe first family vacation post covid (hopefully we can start to say that) The location is wonderful- we went on walks everyday- the porch is amazing- can sit out there and stare out into the horizon. Wonderful conversations, cocktails- bring some games and some movies- didn’t need anything else. A fab place to get away from constantly having to go do something. Our hosts were always responsive and accommodating. Will remember that trip for years to come!

It's a lovely, spacious house with a large lawn and very few other houses around. We loved the huge porch (and the private balcony upstairs!) and the kitchen made for hanging out while cooking and eating together.

We wanted a place to disconnect. What we found was a beautiful home, away from everything, while still offering all the amenities of a top notch rental. Stunning views, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated, CLEAN, quiet, and spacious. Pictures can't do justice to the views of the bay. My children didn't want to leave and expect us to return in short order. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. The only drawback is that there is no air conditioning (which we were aware of prior to booking). That said, there was almost always a breeze and plenty of fans available. Thanks for a great stay!

The property and home were well suited to beautiful sunsets, trails for biking and hiking and every secluded beach for fishing swimming and clamming. Our family loved the house but especially the porch and kitchen!!!
