About this house rental
Lovingly updated antique 6 bedroom home in the historic Stone Village of Chester, VT. Sleeps 8+ comfortably making it the perfect vacation home for 1 or 2 families.
Main stone house was built in 1833 as an addition to the 1798 farmhouse. Combined it creates a classic Vermont home with 6 bedrooms and 3 full baths (includes 1st floor bedroom with en suite full bath). 3 living rooms with working fireplaces, comfortable seating for conversation and laughter, and beautiful artwork. Screened fieldstone floor side porch to pass the evening. Tuned piano for the musician in the yellow living room. Formal dining room that seats 10, plus a farmhouse kitchen with table that seats another 10, (great for the kids). Home is decorated with period antiques.
Attached via the kitchen, the renovated barn has a large family room with new wood burning stove, cozy seating, flat screen tv with Bose surround sound, smart TV for streaming Netflix, etc, 100 dvd movie collection huge game and puzzle closet, and beautiful view to the back yard and neighboring fields.
Additional new electric wall heat/AC units in family room and each bedroom makes it easy to heat or air condition. Sliding doors open to stone patio with gas grill and large fire pit, festive lighting, outdoor speakers, with quality seating to gather around.
2 bedrooms and full bath await you on the 2nd floor of the barn.
Comfortable well equipped kitchen has all your cooking essentials, plus, plus: blender, cuisinart, crock pot, up to date spices, oils, vinegars. Large variety of quality pans and every tool under the sun. If you like to cook you will be right at home. New washer and dryer in kitchen. A little quirky, but it's very convenient.
New Ping Pong, Dart board, and Foos Ball table in the barn’s renovated playroom with new dry bar, including Sub Zero beverage fridge, Sonos speakers and heat/AC.
Property sits on cleared 2 acres of land, with beautiful sunsets and open space to run around, throw a ball or play some frisbee.
Easy 1/2 mile walk - on a sidewalk, to a convenience store and terrific butcher.
The home is located in Chester VT, a true treasure of a town with lots of conveniences. Lovely small town that is home to great restaurants, a Scottish pub, a delicious bakery for fresh bread and an out of this world pie shop, gourmet pizza restaurant with live music, knitting and quilting shops, art and furniture stores, a good sized bookstore, a couple of inns and large antique stores. 1 mile away from home is "the pinnacle", the town of Chester's recreation area. In winter, it's a great sledding hill with a new well maintained outdoor ice skating rink. In Summer, it offers a skate park, frisbee golf, basketball, tennis, baseball field, pickle Ball, and town swimming pool.
Easy access to Weston Playhouse for high quality summer theater, hiking, Okemo golf resort, and Tater Hill Golf. Four Frisbee golf courses within 10 miles, Buttermilk Falls for hiking and cooling off. Okemo (straight 20 minute drive up route 103), Magic Mountain (20 minutes down Rt 11) or Bromley, and Stratton mountains nearby.

This place was amazing. I don’t usually do reviews, but this one deserves it. It is 15 min from Okemo and 30 from Killington. Food is 10 min away by car but there are small shops 1-3 min away. Extremely charming atmosphere. We had alot of family there. 8 adults, 6 kids, and we all fit with plenty of room to spare.

Best Christmas ever! Thirteen of us on the day after Christmas for Beef Wellington and gifts and a bad movie. The kitchen was fully-equipped and large enough for competing cooks, the big barn room held the tree and presents, and the big screen TV was perfect. Ten of us stayed the whole week. Comfortable beds, plenty of room to stretch out, play video games, and find a place for an old grandpa to read and nap in peace. Property owner and th manager were immediately responsive when we had a slight issue with the heating systems in the barn (resolved and worked beautifully.) We were one hundred percent happy.

House was BETTER than described.. so many amazing amenities. Tons of space for 4 families (each with 2 kids) to spread out or to join together. Lovely town, EASY drive to Okemo and absolutely amazing communicative owner. I've rented at least 2 places a year for the last ~15 years, and the communication and features of this property trump almost all. HIGHLY recommended.

This property was great for our party! Our annual ski trip to Vermont was made extra special by staying here. So much room in the yard for sleigh riding and the house had so many amenities our kids were never bored and barley even watched TV! This was a great house for a large group, and can easily fit 16+ people.

Our family (13 of us in total, ranging in age from 2 to 77) enjoyed a week in this home. The game room was a wonderful place for the kids to enjoy themselves. The kitchen was fully stocked with every spice you could think of. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the firepit on the patio very much. The only challenge was that the home wasn't fenced in and since it was on the main road, it was a little challenging with 3 kids under 4 years of age and dogs. Never the less, a wonderful vacation experience. And the owners did a great job sharing ideas of places to go and enjoy the area, too!

Amazing Stay!
What an amazing house!
Stayed here for a week with extended family. Even with 13 people in our group, the house had ample space for all of us. The charm, history, artworks and the modern amenities made us fall in love with the house. The quaint neighborhood offered a peaceful respite for all us. Laurie and Russ were so gracious and caring hosts. The welcome gifts were also a nice touch!

Splendid Stay In A Wonderful Historic Home!!!
There is so much to say about this home and our experience there. The blend of history and warmth the house provides to the overall open spacious comfort you feel is beyond appealing. The yard, view, outdoor cauldron area and quaint neighborhood welcome you from the start. As a family of ten we had more than enough room to relax and make our stay an extremely positive one.
The property is just as it is listed and the pride that these home owners have is second to none. I will say without a doubt that the BEST and MOST IMPORTANT amenity the home has is its OWNERS!!.They are the most thoughtful, kind, considerate people we have ever rented from and went the extra mile to insure our stay was indeed special. Our "welcome gift" made us feel appreciated from the very start.
The history of the home is quite interesting. Russ and Laurie have added pieces of their family history, artwork and personal touches making the house one that is inviting and charming. From new updated appliances to the absolute cleanliness of the house it evident how loved and cared for this home is. Shared details of the neighborhood and local shops pointed us in the right direction for fun outings.
We couldn't ask for a better experience and memorable week together and this splendid HOME allowed us to have just that! (Top this off with the fresh homemade kettle corn the neighbor across the street makes and this was one SWEET vacation!!!)

Fantastic House, Fantastic Hosts
We wanted a getaway from the city and had the most fabulous two weeks here, working during the day but also enjoying the incredibly well-stocked kitchen, the spacious house with tons of room for working spaces, and the most gorgeous views from the patio, family room, and kitchen.
Russ and Laurie were extremely conscientious and considerate hosts, ensuring the wifi was updated and that we knew their favorite hikes, markets, and restaurants. Before we arrived, Russ and Laurie reached out several times to be sure we would have what we needed, including adding a window covering to ensure the family room wouldn't be too hot (it wasn't) and putting a table outside to allow us to eat on the patio, which we did many nights.
The house itself is a fascinating historical home with both charm and space, an unusual combination. The bathrooms and kitchen are all updated and the A/C works perfectly.
We would stay here again next week if we could! Highly recommend!!!
