About this house rental
NO LONGER A SHORT TERM VACATION RENTAL. 30-day minimum as required by new Cathedral City regulations. Still one of the most expansive and dramatic views in the Coachella Valley. This home backs up to 15,000 acres of National Monument Land, (not another house in the view between the home and Mt. San Jacinto) and provides a totally pristine, serene, desert retreat experience.
The private residence of a New York advertising executive, a complete renovation of the property was completed in August of 2011. The fixtures, the furnishings, and the amenities were chosen by the owner's architect for her personal use. Now the owner's work/travel schedule has made this a spectacular spot for the demanding vacationer or winter escapee.
Indoor/Outdoor living at it's best. The 650-ft shaded lanai offers pleasant shelter from the sun during the day and it's recessed lighting and outdoor furniture make this second living/dining room, a spectacular place to watch the sunset over the snowcapped mountains.
PLEASE NOTE: We honor all Riverside County rules for COVID mitigation.
The Mamounia: master bedroom features doors that let out onto a private pocket garden and an ensuite bath whose glass wall shower was designed for two. Queen bed and Moroccan accents make this a bedroom where dreams do come true.
The Standard: 1st Guest Bedroom with access to pool and mountain view. Queen bed and spacious mirrored closet, this room is also fully equipped with a complete pop-up office: desk, printer, scanner, fax, phone with free Canadian calling. The guest bath, directly across the hall, is a riot of white tile and Palm Springs accents.
The Royalton Study. Furnished with DWR day bed. This room is a cool quiet sanctuary for reading, listening to music or streaming your content. Glass doors open directly on the pool and provide views of the mountains.
Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen: Forming a spacious open plan for living, these three rooms are furnished with: Moss, Morroso, Ingo Mauer, Sapien, Saarinen, Boerner and many interesting mid-century accent pieces. The all stainless steel kitchen features an Electrolux Professional Stove. There is a gas barbecue just outside the east kitchen door. Flat Screen mounted above the fireplace.
The Pool: Redone in 2022, it is one of the old fashioned egg-shaped pools. It is deep enough (9.5' at the deep end) to keep it swimmable even in the hottest afternoons. Heated during the winter, it provides just enough length for lap/exercise. There is a 'Dinah Shore Shelf' for partially submerged sunbathing, easy-access steps for entry, and an attached spa/hot tub for soothing the muscles after a hike behind the home.

We stayed at this wonderful oasis in February 2024. The House is older but well kept. Beds and linens were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. If you didn't know there were houses all around you would think you were totally alone. The view from the pool area was magnificent. My husband enjoyed the hiking trails behind the house. Pool area and yard were tended weekly. We had no problems, but owner was easily contacted either by e-mail or phone. We loved sitting by the pool and watching the various birds that came around. We would definitly stay here again.

Desert Hideaway
Great location midway between Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Loved that we could walk out the back gate to the hiking trails in the hills or a short drive to many other trails.. Beautiful scenery from back side of house. Very private, quiet neighborhood yet close to shopping for essentials. Owner very responsive to questions, great with communication. Would return.

Where to begin in describing our brilliant stay? Beginning with the home, the property couldn't have been more perfect. In need of a livable vacation home to blissfully settle in to over a number of months, this house had everything we needed to be nothing but happy, comfortable and having everything we could ever need. The location was ideal - not even 5 minutes to any of the key “life” stores you would need like Trader Joe's, Target, groceries, etc. but plenty of things like nail salons, good restaurants for both take-out and dine-in, downtown Palm Springs a quick 10 minutes and the furthest destination at most 20 minutes. Yet, the location of the house itself in the wonderful Cove neighborhood felt like the most private little oasis with the perfect balance of quiet serenity and the nicest of neighbors. For anyone with dogs or who likes to walk, the property backs right onto a trail with a gate out the back. My husband and I were so content walking out the back and allowing the dogs to meander and run without a care in the world. The outdoor space was perfect - the pool is amazing and there are a number of different seating areas, loungers, tables, umbrellas, chairs, you name it, that you never get bored of being out there. Even in summer, the shaded porch was a perfect place to plant with a book. And the views! As for the house, it was ideal for me and my husband and dogs. We never felt on top of each other, there is a lovely den where I happily spent my weekdays for the work from home job, and the perfectly stocked kitchen was a happy place for my husband who loves to cook. The furniture/decor is just what you need in a Coachella Valley holiday home – wonderfully comfortable yet brilliantly modern. Really, we cannot find a thing to complain or nit-pick. Although we were "living" here, I could see this also being the perfect spot for a family or group of friends looking for a great holiday. As for Susan, the host, she was unbelievable in her helpfulness, friendliness, communication, and ease of working with. Our interactions also always brought a smile to my face as she's just a great, genuine person, but she is also a great host in that she immediately responds, keeps you informed of anything, and provides great advice. Over our multiple month stay, nothing ever went wrong or needed to be fixed, but I have no doubt that if something had gone wrong, she would have dealt with it before we even had time to give it a second thought. The best!

Spectacular Host and Property
My husband and I stayed for two months during the pandemic. We live in Minnesota and I'm so grateful we had the foresight to book this trip to escape the winter as we were both working from home anyway. Packing up the car and the dog to be snowbirds was something we never dreamed we'd be able to do before retirement. (Silver lining to COVID-19!)
The house and its surroundings far exceeded our expectations. The beautiful photos don't do it justice. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient. The views from the painstakingly maintained front and back yards are gorgeous and tranquil. The mid-century modern house and furnishings are welcoming, open, and fully stocked with anything you could ever need. The kitchenware, towels, appliances, blankets -- everything, really -- were more than adequate. We enjoyed picking lemons/grapefruit and soaking in the beauty of the plants, birds, and mountains. The pool and spa are extraordinary, the latter being just what's needed after a day of hiking out the back door. Trails are as easy or challenging as you want them to be.
What made our stay even more perfect was the host. Susan is an absolute treasure. Not only was she completely responsive to our every question or request, she never made us feel like we were a bother. She's thorough, funny, sincere, and went above and beyond to make sure we were thrilled with every aspect of our stay. Thank you, Susan, for being such an incredible host and human being. We will savor a lifetime of memories from our January/February 2021 visit to Palm Springs.

A wonderful retreat with everything you need to relax! My partner and I stayed for a month and enjoyed every moment. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cookware, the bedrooms are comfy and quiet, and the backyard is delightful. Sunlight fills the house through the many windows. Susan was a wonderful host. We were sad to leave and highly recommend the property to others!

A wonderful stay at a lovely location for me and my three friends. Susan was a great communicator and we were very confident that she and the property manager took every precaution regarding COVID, our safety, and also provided amenities for our stay. Pool was great, full kitchen, and enough beds for us all. It was the perfect, mostly secluded escape during a time when we all could use a break. Thank you, Susan!

A lovely getaway.
This was our 8 year anniversary getaway, 2 and 5 year old kids included. Love the bright airy feel all the windows in the main living space provide. Bougainvillea, cacti, palms, and a fountain to the front, and the double glass sliders opening to the pool and mountains in the rear- so peaceful and pretty. Just a few minutes drive to down town Palm Springs for our favorite restaurants and shops, and right down the street from Target and Trader Joes, this home is in a great spot. Susan was a very responsive and helpful host. We had a question regarding the spa and she responded immediately and helped us out. We had a very relaxing, pool and sun soaked stay. Oh, and be sure to have bite or sip on the elevated patio for a great view! We would without a doubt book this home again!

Quaint, perfect desert getaway
This place was the perfect quarantine getaway. We were able to celebrate our anniversary away from home during this crazy pandemic. Susan was so accommodating and informative. My husband was concerned with the cleanliness of the house because of the pandemic. She reassured me that the filters used on the HVAC was Merc 17 filters taking care of viral particals in the air and cleaning was thorough and set 24 hours before we arrived. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures. AC was great and the rooms comfortable fit all 5 of us. Bathrooms were clean and the master shower was complete with multiple heads/jets. The pool was peeerrrrfect for the heat. Susan is precisely set everything to comfortable settings—pool thermostat, air conditioning, beddings, towels, kitchenware, etc. We wanted a place away from people. This is in a neighborhood, but we didn’t see any people the whole time. It’s super close to Target and other stores. Susan informed me that InstaCart was available. We did do drive up shopping at Target. The back of the house had a nice desert view, and the landscaping blocked off neighbors’ yards and made us feel secluded. There are multiple seating areas around the yard. It was beautifully landscaped with succulents and cactus. Definitely set that desert tone. This house made memories for us. Can’t thank Susan enough. Beautiful home!

Desert Sunshine in July
Our family was looking for a place to relax in the sunshine and swim in the pool. This place did not disappoint. We enjoyed our time relaxing as a family.
Pros:
*Desert home with a wonderful pool. We spent many hours each day swimming in the pool. It's deep and just long enough that you can lap swim.
*Beautiful scenery. Hiking trails and views right just beyond the backyard and the house and landscaping were pleasantly designed. We went for evening strolls and saw lots of desert animals.
*Privacy. We never saw the neighbors and only heard them once.
*Easy to get food delivered. We were staying during the COVID outbreak, so we either cooked at the house or had food delivered.
*Completely gated backyard so we could let our dog out without worrying she could run off.
*Great master shower. So nice, that the entire family used the master shower. Definitely not a water saving shower, but fun.
Cons
*Lots of morning light. While the master bedroom has blackout curtains, the other two rooms have white airy curtains. This meant that our two children were up with the sunshine every morning.
*No music at all allowed in the backyard. We were not told this until a few days until our arrival.
*No cable. It has been disconnected until September, and we were not told until a few days until our arrival.
*Susan was rude via emails after our trip. Our dog accidentally chewed the buttons off the couch throw pillows. I took photos and let her know so she could charge accordingly. We also missed one of the dog poops in the backyard. Both my husband and I walked around and thought we had cleaned everything, but apparently missed one. We took very good care of the house while we were there and in my opinion this our genuine accidents that might happen with a rental that allows dogs. Her rude email correspondences will ensure that we never return again. Made me feel that she is not very welcoming of pets and is an unpleasant person.

Exactly what we needed
The property owner is on top if it .The house is great! The views are incredible!! The sunsets behind the mountains over the backyard. We took a sunset swim every night..Having a pool to ourselves was ideal. The house is close to everything within a few minutes drive. We will definitely rent this house again!

Wonderful Stay
Susan was great from start till finish.
She accommodated a very last minute stay and had property ready within a couple hours. A great experience.
Beautiful views and a great distance to both sides of the valley. Not really much to not like :)

Given to wrong code. Sat outside property for hours. Ended up in a hotel for the night.
I arrived to find I was given the wrong code! I left her several voicemails and messaged her on the VRBO site. I sat outside alone with a car full of groceries for hours. When it was getting dark I checked into a hotel for my safety. Later that evening she called and stated had I text her she could have gotten me in "lesson learned". She will not return the nightly rate plus fees for the night I couldn't get access. Instead paying for my cheap, small and noisy hotel room which cost several hundred dollars less. The next morning the property manager let me in the property.
I spoke with VRBO staff who indicated they left her a message stating they agreed with me that she should not charge me for that night.
After I returned home I again asked for a refund. Her response was shocking and upsetting. Stating the lesson learned is if I would have text I could have got in as she was on a plane. The lesson learned should be to provide your guest with the correct code and they could get in! Also, I would not be happy if she charged me for 6 nights as the nightly rate would be higher. If you request booking on her site the charge is the same 6 or 7 nights. Shockingly, that she could have charged me for the property manager to let me in and when I called to inquire what to do about ground bees trying to nest by the pool. Further, she could have charged me several hundred dollars for my friends dog. However, when asking permission prior to my arrival she wrote back that they do not charge for dogs and her add says pets welcome.
Now, I feel I should be paid for the night I didn't stay at the property and the hotel room. There is no consideration that a day of my vacation was ruined. This is every renter nightmare. It's a helpless feeling. I feel like a victim who is being blamed for someone else's mistake.
I have learned from the VRBO once the owner has your money they can be of little help. Her property was left in excellent condition. I have rented many homes all over the world and have never had a problem and have always left good reviews.
This situation has caused me way too many hours of being very upset and sad. I suspect I will also upset with her response. My well traveled friends are also surprised by how this is being handled.
I must end on a positive note saying the location is very convenient to the airport and stores. It is always nice to find basic staples in a rental. Other reviews have described the area in greater detail.

Comfortable, quiet and clean
Nice property, pool and hot tub were great and the scenery was nice as well. Had a minor issue with the heating system for the pool and the owner was very quick to respond and help me rectify. It is also quite close to a supermarket and a Target so easy to get supplies.

A true home away from home
We want to thank Susan for welcoming us and our pups into her lively home. Hubby and I had a wonderful time staying in, cooking, going for day time walks around the neighborhood and sunset hike in the paths behind the house, enjoying the spa AND that wonderful master shower. We loved the decor, the openness, the light, the landscaping, the views, the quiet, the privacy, the comfortable beds and bedding, the well stocked kitchen, the concrete floors, and the blankets provided so that our pups could safely enjoy the furniture, instead of not allowing them on. It really felt like we were home and we treated it so. It was such a peaceful weekend and it was hard to leave! We would come back to vacation there in a heart beat.

Family Reunion
This was our parents’ retirement home which was loved and cherished. When Susan bought it we were happy to transfer it with anticipation. Coming back five years later, we have accolades for Susan. She has transferred this desert oasis Into an artistic haven and kept all the heart of the home. We felt it in every corner. Thank you Susan for sharing it again with us! We will be back. Janet, Beverlee, and Gary

Perfect Summer Vacation
Staying at this property was a truly magical Summer vacation for us. The house is everything we could have asked for of hip Palm Springs style and comfort. We enjoyed hours at the pool with her comfortable sun chairs and fun pool floats. Loved our quiet mornings in the back yard enjoying coffee and the desert sun rising. The backyard trail access is a unique gem and gave us our outdoor adventure fix! Every amenity worked perfectly the house was stocked for every need. Property owner was easy to access and lovely to interact with. I’ve been vacationing in Palm Springs for 19 years and this was my #1 experience. Can’t wait to book our next trip back!

Wish we didn’t have to leave!
The house is perfect! With no neighbors behind, the view is spectacular and the yard feels exceptionally private. Hiking trails right out the back door. The pool and spa were lovely and relaxing. The home was perfectly appointed and the kitchen was well supplied and clearly organized. Susan the owner was a pleasure and left clear instructions for everything. Excellent location with Trader Joe’s and Target just over a mile away. We would rent again!!

Save Room For Us Next Year
We were able to escape the winter in this lovely home. It was indeed as advertised! Fabulous views of the mountains out the front and back. It was a treat to walk out the back gate for a hike in the mountains. Another treat to have fresh grapefruit from the tree in front upon our return.. Everything we needed was in the kitchen including a Nespresso machine! Comfortable beds and awesome master shower. Susan was super responsive to any need/question we had. Jason, the caretaker was also super responsive. He lives near and would show up in 10 minutes if needed.
Thanks for everything, we hope to escape more winters at ‘The Bank.’

We had the opportunity to spend 2 months in this beautiful private home. It is located in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood but close to shopping and all that Palm Springs has to offer. On arrival, the place was immaculate. The owner even has blankets of the dog!
Our dog loved her daily walks in the hills directly behind the house- the trails and the views are outstanding. We also enjoyed sitting on the elevated side patio and admiring the lights of Palm Springs in the evenings.
Susan (the owner) was great to work with...always very easy to contact.
All in all, a fabulous home and would highly recommend it to everyone. Will return again!

We loved staying at this oasis in the desert! The connection between the inside and outside was refreshing and the floor-to-ceiling windows in all spaces allowed us to enjoy the beautiful sunshine all day long. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms gave our group just enough space in this modern secluded vacation house. The crystal clear pool and hot tub completed our relaxation and was a welcoming luxury feature after long days at the nearby festival. The pristine landscaping brought in many kinds of birds throughout the day, the vast amount of hummingbirds were my favorite! Our stay was everything we hoped it would be! Thank you!
4.9
Wonderful stay with family including 6 and 8 y/o who enjoyed spending most of the day in the pool. Also got to the Living Desert zoo nearby which was fun. The house was very clean and exactly what we expected/hoped for. Very good customer service from the owner who responded promptly to questions as well.

We rented this for our honeymoon and it was perfect. We had a wonderful time. The backyard is secluded and the view spectacular. The only downside was that we were not told that the garage was not available to park our car in. We weren't too happy about having to leave the car outside in the baking sun all week.
4.9
A lovely, easy to use home in a beautiful setting. Private and quiet with views of the San Jacinto Mtns from the backyard and pool, views from the living room and a view of Palm Springs city lights from the elevated patio. Walk out the back gate and hike for 10 minutes or 10 hours. A great home for a quiet, romantic escape or fun activities in the Coachella Valley. This a home for repeat visits.
4.9
We recently stayed there for a long weekend over Thanksgiving with another couple and two dogs. The owner was so easy to work with and made the booking/deposit return painless. The property itself was really well suited to what we wanted - tastefully done, private, well-maintained pool/spa with a large enough outdoor area that the dogs were happy, back gate opens up directly onto a really scenic desert path, perfect for walking the dogs, and the location was ideal. 15 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, down the street from Target/Trader Joe's and Hwy 111, which will take you to any of the other Desert towns. Hope we'll be back soon.
4.9
This is one of the most relaxing and beautiful vacation homes you could hope for. From the front door to the back gate that opens onto beautiful, rugged desert trails, it exceeded any expectations we had. The house was up to date, spotless, very comfortable and very much in the Mid-century modern style! Everything was first class! The rental process couldn't have been any easier. We were on a very tight timeline and Susan was a dream to work with. The location was convenient to all the city has to offer and felt secluded and private with views you won't find anywhere else!!! You'll truly enjoy your time here!!
4.9
This gem in the desert provides not only the great views you can see from the photos but a home that is outfitted like a designer's dream right down to every high end utensil in the kitchen. While there was plenty to do outside the home it provides a fantastic sanctuary for both relaxtion and fun between the pool, the views and all the local area attractions. It was like an escape to paradise. Such great info the owner provided on "favortie spots" in the area. A great get away with every amenity you can think of. The home far exceeded our expectations and is something we will definitely go back to.
