We had a great couple of days staying at this sparkling clean property. The location is very convenient, making all the Stanford graduation events we were in town for easy to get to.

The property seemed fine and is in a great location. I have three issues with this property and my booking through VRBO: 1) It was double booked by the property manager who lists the property on both VRBO and another booking website.. When I arrived and entered with the door code provided, it was ALREADY occupied. 2) Door codes ARE NOT changed between guests which is why I was able to enter with the same code that was given to the occupants who booked through another booking platform. 3) The occupants were unmasked inside the property when I entered. This was their right given they were indoors and within their own bubble. I am not part of their bubble so that Covid-19 exposure to me (and subsequently my family) was extremely risky given this global pandemic we are living through. 4) When I was on the phone with VRBO trying to sort out the situation I was offered two options: a 2bed/1bath property that was 15 minutes away or an unspecified hotel. Neither option was going to work for my family of 6 people plus a dog and a car loaded with several hundred dollars worth of Thanksgiving groceries that required refrigeration. 5) The entire process of trying to solve this situation and dealing with VRBO customer service was unsatisfactory. At one point, after telling the property manager that I needed to discuss options with my family and that I would text her, she requested that I not text too late because she was in another time zone. It was 5pm local time in California and, although I didn't know where she was, I felt that she should have been willing to hear from me any time night or day under the circumstances. I have requested a reimbursement for the difference in price that I paid for the property I subsequently booked through another booking website and was informed by VRBO that it was the responsibility of the property manager to reimburse me for the difference. Interestingly, the property manager informed me that VRBO told her she was not responsible for the reimbursement since we booked on another platform rather than accept one of the "solutions" offered by their "resolution specialist". The solutions were either the smaller property, hotel rooms with the purchase of coolers to refrigerate our groceries, or splitting up our family between the smaller property and hotel rooms. Textbook case for passing the buck and NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY!!! VRBO and the property manager, Carrie Serres, have behaved despicably!

Great in every way!
This well-equipped house is in a quiet neighborhood. It was sparkling clean and very comfortable, with many nice touches that made for a great trip. There are great restaurants within walking distance, and we were also able to walk to Stanford. Great house, great host, great experience!

Unsafe. Dangerous. Burglarized while we slept. The owners neglected to change the keypad lock code from the previous tenant. The police told us this home invasion was probably an ‘inside job’ since the criminals entered the front door, using the 'secret' keypad code. We took several extra precautions to secure ourselves, closing all blinds, locking all windows, leaving all the lights on overnight, even checked the ATM-like keypad for a scanner, but the thieves were undeterred. We locked the only lock they had on the door and left the lights on in the main area as it didn’t feel like the safest area. Fortunately, we were not physically harmed and our rental car was not stolen (they did steal the keys to it). Be very careful when renting homes, especially this one with inadequate security, where strangers were loitering around the property and where the owners were not only negligent re: our family’s safety, they were uncaring, unreasonable and unresponsive to our repeated requests to reconcile the thousands of dollars of personal possessions that were stolen from us. They won't even refund our money for our stay. The combination of inadequate security and inadequate concern for our family's well being make this home one to avoid, especially since the burglars are still at-large according to the police. The legal and criminal investigations are ongoing related to the crime at this residence. We hope this review will help VRBO and others take action to help protect other unsuspecting victims. We are grateful be alive to share our nightmare experience.
