The house has lots of room and beautiful views. Great swimming off the dock - no weeds. We enjoyed our stay

This cottage is exactly as advertised. There were 7 bedrooms which fit our combined families well. Though a tight fit, the boat slip held our 18’ bow rider I/O boat ok. Nice to have a separate cottage on site where our adult kids could stay up later without bothering the older crowd. We have stayed in more “well-appointed” cottages, but the layout and location was a great fit for our 2 families. Definitely on our list to go back to. Cliff Scott

The property was great with a nice big house on a beautiful lake. There was plenty of room for 9 adults. The small cottage was newly renovated but had no heat so it was too cold to stay in it and couldn't enjoy the game room. The kayaks and canoe were in great condition which we used for a short trip to explore the lake. Views from the cottage were spectacular. The only negative is that it could use a deep clean. Noticed a lot of spider webs and dust on the ceiling fans. Other than that, fantastic place.

The cottage layout and waterfront were great and as described. There were many places in the cottage that could use a deep clean. The property manager was quite rude and in all the years of renting cottages, we’ve never experienced such a difficult main contact while we were more than reasonable and polite in our communication. Unfortunately, we had read numerous reviews from years ago about the difficulty in communicating with the manager, but had hoped that had been fixed.

Every year our family selects a different cottage for a week away from the city. This year we selected Balsam Lake. The cottage location is excellent! The cottage/home also had plenty of room for the 10 of us. Cottage and location were very good (5/5). The cottage could have used a good cleaning as many items (both fridges, stove, BBQ etc.) were not very clean. Some of the appliances should also be upgraded as they did not work. Overall a nice stay in a very beautiful setting.

Property was great, nice big house beautiful lake. Just a few minor inconveniences that we did not expect. The ad should say MUST wear water shoes everyone cut their feet on the zebra muscles. No hot water day one till we noticed the breakers where off. We ran out of both toilet paper and washing detergent. Also the game controllers in the big cottage did not work and the kitchen utensils are ok for camping but a cottage should have better stuff.

We had an awesome weekend, it's our second time renting this cottage and we will likely rent it again. The dock and the water is so nice to relax by and catch up with friends, play games, read and or just rest. The cottage is spacious with lots of windows and seating areas.

Roomy cottage and separate quarters for private games room and bedroom/kitchen. Well stocked with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Large dock and great swimming and boating right out the back door. Recommend for a large family vacation.

The entire family, from grandparents to the young grandchildren enjoyed this week vacation very much. The 2 cottages are very comfortable and well equipped. Even the fact that there is no sandy beach can be solved by the very close beach at Balsam Lake Park. We are planning to come back next summer. Thanks to all who made this possible

We had a fantastic week at the Cedardale. Plenty of room for 10 adults, 1 infant and a small dog. The place was clean and well organized. The view of the water from the cottage is magnificent and I tried to get up for the sunrise every day. The water is clean and weed-free off the dock; great for swimming. We brought kayaks but probably didn't need to. The kayaks and canoe were in good condition. Good lake for fishing. We caught enough fish to have dinner for everyone twice.
The only suggestion would be to have more shade on the waterfront deck. The table is small and had a tiny umbrella that didn't work great - its such a great space and its where many hang out during the day but could use a bit of shade. Overall, excellent property and would definitely recommend it.

Cedardale holiday
The cottage was as advertised. Clean, spacious and bright with a great view! The bunkie was a perfect place for my daughter and her family. Caught some pickerel and bass out front of the cottage and had a very tasty fish fry! The water was clear and the waterfront weed free for good swimming. We had a wonderful family holiday!

Amazing weekend!
We had an excellent time at this cottage, the owner was quick to reply to our questions, the kitchen was well equipped with utensils, pots, baking dishes for all of our meal needs. The view is amazing, the lake was wonderful to swim in or just wade in to cool off. Our group of 12 ladies had a wonderful time!

Great cottage for a large family.
Overall this cottage was everything we needed for our family to enjoy a week on the lake. Lots of room, beds were good, nice yard and the lake was excellent.
The old fireplace that sits on the dock as an ornament is a safety hazard and needs to go (we added a pool noodle to protect folks from the shape edges). There was just enough cutlery and plates for meals so if you needed a spoon or knife during meal prep, you had to wash it before setting the table. The dishwasher got a workout with a crew of 13.
The kayaks and (heavy) canoe were great for exploring the area but the peddle boat was broken (same comment made in previous years). If equipment is advertised, it should be functional.
The outside temperature was very hot and humid during our visit (great time to be at a cottage). The AC never shut off during the day. In the evening the programmable thermostat shut off the AC for the night. It definitely needed to run 24 hours a day as the night temperatures didn't drop much, the humidity remained. The AC couldn't recover during the day.
The bunkie had a kitchen, but no dishes or cutlery.

Annual family cottage vacation
We have started a tradition of an extended family cottage vacation every summer. It requires a place that will accommodate up to 10 or 12 people. This Cedar Dale property seemed perfect with the separate building that could sleep 4. It is a great site for multi generation families. Very spacious and comfortable. The large kitchen and table made eating meals very fun. View from the livingroom and dining area is breathtaking, of the lake. The beach is rocky but the recommendation of bring water shoes, solved the problem and was not an issue. Shallow enough for a 3 year old to feel comfortable but got deep enough for adults to enjoy. The deck at the beach is very nice for relaxing at the water. We enjoyed the canoe and kayaks for water sports. Very close to Balsam Lake Provincial park which was worth the visit. Very enjoyable vacation and hope to come back next year.

Dirty uncomfortable cottage but our family fell in love with the lake!
Stayed 7 nights w/10 adults 2 kids & baby. Were met by property owner (Andrew?) he welcomed us told us key was in lock box, said if you need something reach out but don’t contact me for petty things! This confirmed the negative impression I already had from messages on Vrbo. He’s very short with his words, doesn’t seem interest and very matter of fact, comes across rude! ex: had some questions about check in and drinking water and be pretty much said wait until you get the check in guide emailed to you 10 days before. The 1st thing we noticed was that cottages were very dusty and had ALOT of spider webs everywhere. The cleanliness was quite gross actually! I think we left the place cleaner when we left than when we took it over. Main cottage was spacious and just like shown. View of lake was incredible - entire backyard and Lake were the best parts of our trip. Small cottage was small, kitchen had stove, microwave and kettle but absolutely nothing else. Wifi was weak, too weak to connect to Amazon fire. They advertise an Xbox but had PS3. They had guitar hero but it connected to Xbox so it was obsolete there now. Wish we knew so we could bring some DVD for kids. We had to figure out how to connect the water hose on the side of the house to wash out the dirty canoe which was full of earwigs - we were so turned off by it we didn’t even use it. We washed the paddle boat and all of its bugs too to then discover it was broken when we put it into the water (we had actually read a previous review from 2018 saying it was broken - but we didn’t expect that to still be the case. The kayaks also had to be washed out & cleared of bugs, but we at least got to enjoy them! When we had met with the property manager he told us to be careful with dishwasher because it was new and recently installed and cost him $1000 - so the first morning when we realized it hadn’t washed our dishes from the night before we turned it on again because we didn’t have any dishes and utensils for breakfast now (literally 1 set of utensils per person in this kitchen) anyway… after a few attempts at turning on washing washing and seeing it would start then stop- Contacted Andrew & told to google instructions or he could send plumber but we had to pay. figured things out & it worked. Guide told us of local garbage dump but it no longer exist, we had to take garbage to landfill and pay to dump. Water pressure was low. AC too cold during day & off at 9pm. Sweaty uncomfortable nights!

Great space and location, but property needs care.
The house and smaller guest cottage provide lots of space to spend time together, with great views of the lake from the main house. The beds were comfortable, and the AC in the main house was appreciated, though having some local control would have been nice. The lake is gorgeous and was a pleasure to swim in and paddle board (we brought our own). We did use the kayaks a couple of times, but they have no padding left and weren't very comfortable.
The negatives now: Many small things were neglected or absent upon our arrival, and there was dust and cobwebs on light fixtures, fans, and in the corners. The bbq was rusting out, and wasn't replaced during our stay despite my contacting the property manager 10 days before we left. There was no dishwasher soap or drinking water for the dispenser upon our arrival. No rinse agent for the dishwasher, and sparse, cheap cutlery. We ended up buying and leaving a salad spinner.
I summed it up for the manager like this - we didn't feel welcomed upon arrival. The house needs more attention between rentals to make sure it's really clean and ready for the next guests.

paradise
lovely cottage on a crystal clear lake. Great location and layout for multi generational family get aways. Property manager was quick to respond to all queries and remedy small issues that cropped up. Only suggestions would be a tv on the main level (senior family members didnt linke the stairs) and more dishcloths/tea towels. Also allowing gueset to have some control over air conditioner would be apprecaited. Overall an excellent stay! l hi

Balsam Lake is superb
We had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. Location is amazing. Lake is clear as can be. The extra cabin is very spacious. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The view is spectacular. Kayaks and canoe were amazing. Paddle boat so broken that was disappointing. Entertainment room is incredible too.
