About this house rental
Escape from your day-to-day at Wine Down - your private-side waterfront Lake Anna, Virginia, retreat on over 9 acres. The custom-built home - completed in late 2017 - evokes Southern charm and hospitality, and it features water views from nearly every bedroom in the home. With two master suites (one upstairs and one on the lower-level), a kids' bunk room, two additional bedrooms, and an oversized playroom/guest room, Wine Down is the perfect vacation rental home for groups and families.
Entering the home, you're welcomed into a spacious great room with breathtaking lake views. Two oversized couches easily seat a dozen guests, who can enjoy conversation with the cooks in the nearby gourmet kitchen or watch a movie on the 70" television. The open great room flows into the dining area, which accommodates a party of 12 comfortably, and the peninsula kitchen with its nearly 13' island and bar. Chefs will enjoy the Samsung double flex oven, KitchenAid five-burner induction cooktop and Sharp microwave drawer. Two full-sized refrigerators, including a deluxe Samsung in the kitchen, a beverage center and industrial icemaker make it easy to store drinks and food for large parties, and two sinks and two dishwashers make for easy clean-up.
Stepping beyond the great room and outside, you'll enjoy an over 1,500 square foot travertine patio, with spectacular lake views at any time of the day. An 8' by 16' swim spa is off the patio, overlooking Wine Down's private dock and private white-sand beach. Take a dip in the swim spa or jump in the lake - both are just feet from the home and a delight for all guests to enjoy. Renters also can enjoy the home's two stand-up paddleboards and canoe. Wine Down's expansive patio is also great for sunrise yoga or sunset yoga (or a yoga retreat) - just bring your own mat and the views will serve as inspiration for your workout.
Bringing your own boat, jet skis or other water toys to the lake? Wine Down has a private boat launch and you can tie up your boat and/or jet skis off the property's dock right in front of the home. Maybe you'd rather spend your day just fishing off the dock? Wine Down's private cove is the place for it - it's been ranked as a top fishing spot on a local fishing app.
Want to escape from reality even more? Venture past Wine Down's impressive home, dock and sandy beach and onto the private peninsula. Accessible only to renters at Wine Down, the peninsula is a quiet, wooded retreat, perfect for weekend camping (or even a kids' camp-out for a night). Stone trails lead to the best camp sites and are great for daytime (or evening) walks.
After a day of fun on Lake Anna's private side, you can shower off in the outdoor enclosed shower with hot and cold water or head inside to one of Wine Down's five-and-one-half bathrooms. Downstairs, the master bedroom suite features an impressive bathroom with a two-person shower, freestanding soaking tub and double vanity. French doors from the bedroom lead onto the patio, where you can enjoy a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. On the other side of the first floor are two additional bedrooms with a shared jack-and-jill bathroom.
On the second level, you'll find another impressive patio, with comfortable Ohana wicker furniture, a dining table and more. A smaller family room with pullout sofa bed and 55" LED television offers a quiet escape for guests. The second floor also houses the bunk room, with two double-over-double bunk beds and an ensuite bathroom with a shower/tub combo. The second-level master suite faces the lake, with stunning views to wake you up in the morning. It features a spa-like bathroom with freestanding tub, two-person shower and double vanity.
The third-level offers even more space for guests at Wine Down. A guest room, with queen bed and en suite bath with a shower, provide added sleeping space. The third floor also features two additional queen beds for those late afternoon naps, a 4K gaming station for kids and adults alike with two Xbox One consoles and two PlayStation 4 consoles, multiple televisions (a 55" and two 42" sets) and an oversized leather couch perfect for lounging the day away.

Very impressed with the property, the lake and the boats. the manager of the property was very good also. loved the shadow sport boat , but disappointed there wasn't a marina on the lake, so had to use some old gas cans to get gas at the local gas station.

Susan was wonderful and responsive. The privacy at the property is exactly what we were looking for in a home away from home. The kitchen and outdoor area were super fun for cooking and enjoying time with extended family. We would love to go back again!

Great house. Tons of room. We loved it

There were 11 of us, loved the layout, and plenty of space for everyone. House had many up to date and convenient features. Enjoyed the use of paddle boards, kayak, and spa. Semi secluded so we didn’t feel like we were on top of the neighbors. Susan was there when we got there, she explained how to work a few items, which was very helpful. The only issue we had was on the 3rd floor, room was very warm even with the little window ac unit running. Family is already talking about coming next year.

Clean, spacious, perfect for 3 generation family vacation. Water access for our jet skis was outstanding!

Perfect location on private cove with woods that had trails. Everything an active family would need at a lake vacation. Best house on Lake Anna!

Awesome. Great house.
Susan didn't show up at appointed time which left us hanging out in the heat for a bit until she got back to us.
A little bit of a pain but all ended well.

We had four generations of Dalton women from MD
and VA. Ages 4-87! The absolute, best weekend ever! House is perfect and the kids loved the outdoor space. Paddle boats got a work out. Just wonderful Andy. Only suggestion is some outdoor solar lighting leading to firepit and below. Us old girls can’t see as well as we need to in the dark. Sunrise and sunsets were breath taking. Already planning our return next year for 2nd annual trip.

We found this place after our previous wedding venue didn't work out. This location is exactly what we were looking for! Gorgeous views, large patio for dancing, very private. We prepared our own food, and a kitchen with two ovens and dishwashers were very appreciated. The A/C was broken and it was a particularly hot weekend. Aside from that, everything was perfect. Would have a wedding here again in a heartbeat, highly recommended!

We could not have picked a better location. This Lake Anna property is really special and we were only disappointed that we had to leave. Everything was perfect and the nearby house manager was extremely attentive, responsive, and accommodating. The house is well-designed and the property is priceless. The sunsets are spectacular. We rented this property (and the property next door which Andy also owns) for a large family reunion. It felt like we had a private, massive compound all to ourselves. Our family can't wait to return!

After the loss of my Mother it’s been hard to “have fun” or enjoy things as we use to, we had some much needed family time what a beautiful place this was in every way. We slept, we cooked, we cried, we laughed, we swam we thoroughly enjoyed this property. Check in was easy and the Host was so very nice to me.
We will return in the spring !
Thank you for a very beautiful healing vacation from our family

I can’t say enough about this gorgeous property! The pictures don’t do it justice. We had a wonderful weekend using the paddle boards, jacuzzi tub and bluetooth speaker system. The kitchen had everything you would need and more and the bedrooms were all extremely beautiful and comfortable with fully functional climate control (no hot upstairs rooms!). Plenty of parking and easy, no fuss check-out. Hope to be back again!

Our very large family group (we rented Wine Down, and also Wake and Lake next door) thoroughly enjoyed our week at Lake Anna. The property owner and managers are local, accessible, and responsive to every concern. Wine Down is located on a gorgeous, private cove. The beach and lake access were fantastic for the smaller kids, and we really loved renting the owners’s pontoon boat for the week - which was loved by the older kids, teens, and young adults. The house itself was very clean, well equipped, and in fantastic condition. The manager (Susan) goes far above and beyond to respond to any concerns - all issues noted in previous reviews have been addressed. It is clear that the management team wants to continually improve the guest experience here. Do not hesitate to rent - you will not be disappointed.

Our family (20) did enjoy our time here. We only had a couple things that should be rectified. 1. 3rd floor bedroom was known to have a bug issue getting in around the window air conditioner unit. The answer was to remove the unit & close the window. Three teens ended up sleeping all week on couches 2. need to find a solution to the indoor fly problem. Unsanitary & annoying. 3. Being harassed in the lounging area & table seating area along with near the spa were nests of hornets.

The property is on a gorgeous lot. The back patios are fabulous and cooking on the grill and black stone was enjoyable. The indoor kitchen is equipped with everything you need although a few larger (unwarped) skillets would be nice. The beds are comfortable. The layout is wonderful for larger groups. The bunk room is awesome for kids. It has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The game room was missing controllers we only ever found one, and the downstairs main area continued to get a bit hot during the day. Overall this is a great property and house and easy to book and contact property manager. If you have a large group and are ready to just relax book now.

This house has a great set up for a large family. Plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the paddle boards, canoe, pontoon boat, beach, walking in the woods, fishing, relaxing in the giant hot tub, and the beautiful sunsets every night. 10/10

We had a large group of four families all with kids of varied ages. The property was so well laid out that everyone was able to keep busy and find time and space to relax. The house is spacious and well-appointed with plenty of bathrooms. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to another stay!!

We had a wonderful stay at Wine Down. The property manager Susan was incredibly responsive and helpful. We did have a few issues during our stay (air conditioners stopped working, bugs in the one bathroom, boat broke down in the middle of the lake, hot tub broke and couldn’t be used for the second half of the trip…..) Susan was always quick to answer and help however she could. We would have expected fewer issues with a property at this price point, but I think it was just unfortunately a bit of bad luck. The property was so beautiful and Susan was so kind that we would absolutely be open to trying it again. Overall it was an incredible trip and we loved our time away on Lake Anna.

Andy and Greg were phenomenal hosts…very accommodating, helpful, attentive, gracious! Our large group had the best time hanging out inside playing games as well as sitting in the giant hot tub staring at the stars. No one wanted to leave! So appreciative for this weekend getaway for our family. The house was perfect for gathering together or separating when some down time was needed. Plenty of space, beds, bathrooms and fun! Next time we will come back when the weather is warmer so we can take advantage of the lake and the outdoors.

This was the best weekend I every had with so many family and friends! We had 11 people come in from parts of Maryland and Virginia to this beautiful property! The live view was better than the pictures! So many details were thought of this property! In my opinion this may be one of the top properties in Lake Anna. I must say! I was the man of the weekend for planning and booking such a great property! Love the 12 foot hot tub, high ceilings, multi-rooms with separate bathrooms the large kitchen with modern decor and open kitchen and eating were, looking at the sun rise over the lake and we enjoyed the fire pit late at night! We will be back and we have other friends who are looking to book later this year!

Very clean property both in and out. Raked beach area was a nice touch. Plenty of amenities as listed - large grill, outdoor griddle, large hot tub, indoor ice maker, 2 dishwashers, etc. Small inconveniences were a nuisance - broken coffee maker, dishwasher needed service, 5 propane tanks but 4 empty, etc. Overall a very pleasant family vacation spot that just needs a little more attention to detail.

The grounds are even more beautiful than in the photos. The sunsets were incredible. The house was perfect for our multi-generational family gathering, with more than enough room for everyone. There was always something for the kids to do, between the lake activities (they loved the paddle boards and canoe), the swim spa, the trails though the woods on the private peninsula, and the fishing off the dock. The house was perfectly clean and the grounds were well-landscaped. Communication was great with Andrew, and the property manager Greg and his wife were fantastic. They were so responsive and quick to help, from answering my questions about the cooktop to dropping off a spare battery for the smoke detector. It's so reassuring knowing the property manager is so close by. Everyone in our party, from children to grandparents, had a wonderful time here. We can't wait to return!

Wine Down lake house
We loved our stay at Wine Down. The home and beach front property was perfect for relaxing and enjoying time together as family with children and adults. Loved the lake view deck and porches, children's beach area, hammocks and fire pit.
Andrew and Greg were very responsive to our questions and needs during our stay. We would definitely return for another stay.

Definitely a place to Wine Down
Enjoyed a wonderful week at the Wine Down property. Everything from the Pool/Hot tub, lounging in the sun, paddle boarding, and relaxing in the lake made our week amazing. Bluetooth music inside and outside the house was an added plus. We grilled meals, griddled breakfasts, and toasted marshmallows around the fire pit. The sunsets were amazing. Great lake for bass fishing. Overall a must if you want a week of tranquility.

Beautiful Embarrassing disappointment
Arrived at 4pm (a few pre updates on ETA). On-site, called manager and were given the door code. Told he was waiting on the “other property to arrive”. Heard nothing until manager appeared after 6pm (over 3 hours later). We were not provided any type of house information… definitely did not get a book of information of any kind. He simply reviewed the cooktop and we requested review of the pool. The weather started at 80 degrees the first day and hit 90. We didn’t have any water toys (only 1 canoe). 1 of the fridges didn’t maintain temp and either everything was warm or it froze and ruined my wedding flowers - including my bouquet before the wedding. 1 of 2 patio fans didn’t function but the manager knew that with it being over the outdoor dinning table it could not be used because the heat coupled with the grill being right beside it was impossible for guests to tolerate. Wine fridge opening was not big enough and we weren’t told you need to move it each time or it doesn’t close and your wine will spoil before your wedding. The ice maker wasn’t cold enough and ice was wet and half melted constantly. Description says 20 people accommodations yet the kitchen table with counter seating included only seats 18 if you squeeze in on bench seating side. Bath towels smelled like mildew there weren’t enough for my 11 guests even the first night let alone my additional 5 that arrived on the last night at 1am and needed to shower. The house had no extra towels (no bath or kitchen- checked mud room/laundry room). Some towels had snot on them only realizing it after people used them. First night called manager -no remote in the main TV room but realized there were no TV remotes anywhere. The manager responded by saying “the cleaning people probably took them, sorry.” The house contained no board games. House had multiple light bulbs out on the kitchen chandelier and as we continued through the house many more lights were out including the master bathroom double vanity should have had 6 lights (only 1 on each side was working). Worst and most disappointing / embarrassing was when we went up to check on the third floor (attic room- half loft with no door to be able to close for privacy) realized AC wasn’t functioning.- called manager. Manager stated he was away sorry - sent HVAC rep. Couldn’t fix. Told through text - sorry. Called manager asking for window unit for guests coming in at 1am- he said no, sorry i tried my best can’t do anything more. No AC for 5.

Annual Friends (Framily) Trip
Overall we had a really great time and the house was perfect for our group size (16). We had 8 adults and 8 kids (from 8 months to 16yo) and had so much fun and plenty of space. The oversized hot tub is so nice and the view is beautiful. The neighborhood is a little sketchy driving up (we were a diverse group and were in an area that didn't seem as accepting as we would have liked), but we had absolutely no issues. There's really only a Dollar General close by but it has tons of stuff (bigger than a normal DG). We tested to get together to ensure Covid safety and the people who were going to walk us through the house upon check-in did not have masks on and seemed a little annoyed when I asked them to mask up (and basically wouldn't do it) so we had our check-in information outside. Outside of that, they were responsive throughout the weekend whenever I had questions and were helpful in general. Overall we had a really nice experience and time together, we would look forward to visiting again in the summer because the outside living space is awesome.
