Beautiful building but needs sprucing up
The bathroom in our room really needed doing up, it looked awful & I didn’t want to use the shower!!!!
3.5
The location of the hotel was superb and close to the Town centre, staff were very friendly, and rooms were clean, also good parking facilities on site.
The rooms in the stables were extremely outdated with very bad floor boards and noisy, the corridor was the same. The beds have seen better days it was like sleeping on rocks. The whole building needs a massive overhaul and it's a shame because it's in such a prime location.
3.5
It’s a quaint old property and from the outside and looked great. Breakfast was nice - but expensive. I asked for an iron and ironing board - they came quickly and with a smile. Coffee and tea was available in the room.
Stepping inside, the decor and rooms were very dated. Tired. They need a major overhaul and fast. Looked like it was straight out of the 80s. No power sockets by the bed. Suspect stains on the sofa. Shower didn’t hold temperature. Uncomfortable single beds in the twin room.

Much better room stables room) than our last stay here. Good value for money and helpful staff with needing to borrow a hair drier.
Would have been good to have been told about parking when checking in, not just leaving it up to seeing it on one of the many signs at reception

Lovely old building
Needs better garden furniture, it’s a lovely garden and outside building need a lick of paint and tiding up. We were locked out and had to ring to be let in for breakfast. Long wait.

Stopped here last year and enjoyed the hotel but this time it was great, the new owners are fantastic think they must be husband and wife, the lady owner was lovely asking if everything was OK, and waved us off the next morning, a credit too her, loved the Indian meal at night very tasty ,will definitely be stopping again, all the staff was very good and served you with a smile, great hotel
Nothing could be better with the hotel but it's abit of a walk into town if your not so good on your feet !

Location was good- close to town and the local amenities. We were in town to attend a retirement party at a nearby village and it was a short walk.
Lack of access to main hotel in the small hours.

The location was perfect to where we needed to be. Clean. Quiet and a nice walk into town
Whilst the room was clean and comfortable..I thought the room was going to be bigger judging by the website. (Shared room with my father.) thought there was bath. Needed spoons for the tea and coffee . Having said this. The stay was enjoyable and inwpuld stay again

Excellent value for money comfortable bed plenty of parking and good location very friendly staff from an family run hotel and a good hearty breakfast
Only a minor grip the room showed signs of general Wear and tear paint flaking off the bathroom ceiling and a damaged but functional toilet button did not interfear with our stay and we are swear the new owners have not had the property all that long so assume is part of the renovation
3.5
large clean bedroom
the bathroom needed some TLC

Choice of Resturant or bar menu for an evening meal, Staff were more than helpful and attentive making us feel most welcome.
Some bar users appear to think a loudspeaker phone conversation for all to hear is ok. I didnt!
(Not a fualt of the venue!)

Elegant Georgian mansion, well converted but retaining its old charm. Lovely big rooms, very comfortable, with everything we needed. Well-established & well-maintained gardens. Plenty of parking.

We stayed here after a long day at Sundown adventure land.
The curry restaurant was amazing. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They were really accommodating of the children. The grounds of the property are lovely.
There was a bit of a mix up with the rooms - we needed a family room with a double and 2 singles. We got given a room with a huge double a single and double. Our children are small so we managed with one on the sofa but it could have been a problem with bigger kids. The bathroom and decor were a little dated but it was all clean.
3.5
the grounds
Needed decorating. very poor sleep as there were children, we think related to the owners, running around the corridors of the bedrooms until 11.30 at which point we had to complain. The owners didn’t seem concerned about this at all.

Breakfast was brilliant , staff great , room was a bit tatty and could do with decorating and bathroom re-fit
It could have been repainted and updated

The staff were friendly
we stayed in one of the stable rooms. Chipped paint and rotting woodwork outside. Dismal, dingy room. Mould and cobwebs in the bathroom. Breakfast a shambles. No tables laid, food brought piecemeal, my husband was given no plate for his toast and I wasn't given a serviette. "continental" breakfast turned out to be cornflakes and soggy toast. When I commented, I was brought some slices of melon - but no fork or spoon to eat it with. Owners clearly have no idea of what is required when running a hotel. Would never stay there again.

We were well looked after , and the breakfast was perfect, we will definitely stay again, we also felt that we had value for money.
The weather.
3.5
Nothing
Bed was nothing like the picture when I booked. We had a pine bed which could have been fine but it had a think foam mattress on it so the bed was very hard but even worse when we turned over in bed knocked our knees on the side ridge of the bed, The shower tiles had lots of black mouldy grouting. The room was small and dingy with very bad lighting, We had booked for two nights but couldn't bear to stay the second night. We didn't eat there because the place closes very early on a Sunday evening.

Hotel staff were extremely helpful and helped all the family members. The Hotel staff even arranged a separate room for our evening meal at short notice. And we could not fault the evening meal both the pub grub and Indian meals, excellent food.
Rooms are in need of refurb and could be upgraded, we were told that this is work in progress, but I felt this was reflected in the price you pay. The rooms were clean.
3.5
The location is very good and easy to get to .
The room was not clean, there was no heating and there was so much noise at 3am in the morning that kept us awake .
