Upgraded due to heat to a super room in the courtyard. Bar area very relaxing and dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Sadly due to the reason for our visit we didn't have time to make the most of the facilities which looked fabulous but we will be back to do so next time!
Nothing the whole experience was excellent including the staff on reception.

Location was perfect
Spar is fantastic, friendly staff,
Views were spectacular
Room was sweltering hot, even though we opened all the windows,
Limited car parking spaces

Lovely location, nice pool, big bed and spacious room. The continental breakfast which is included is very good quality.
Parking is very limited particularly since the hotel allow diners to use the car park (we heard the receptionist say it should be OK) so be prepared to pay £8 per night on the nearby car park(occupied by several travelling community vans when we parked there). The ‘courtyard’ rooms are actually around the car park where the bins are taken for collection so awoken most mornings by bin collection or deliveries once at 5:30am. Menu in the hotel is limited no snacks or light lunch options. One evening we couldn’t get a table but thankfully Sidmouth is full of excellent options for food.

Excellent single room in the main building. Usual friendly welcome by staff. Great views from the dining room at dinner and breakfast.
Car parking is always in short supply but found a space on this visit.

It was beautiful and well situated and we had a fantastic room overlooking the sea, you could not fault it.
Swimming pool was very small and overlooked by the dining room.

A very nice hotel and welcoming staff. Beautiful setting overlooking Sidmouth.
The meals were very good. The service also good.
The bedroom was very hot and there was no way of controlling the heating. I opened the window as wide as possible for comfort whilst sleeping.

We canceled our dinner reservation and booked at the hotel next door. Hotel reception
Receptionist, didn’t do her job. Very unsatisfactory

The location
I have stayed at the hotel many times and this was my worse experience - made worse as i had high expectations. The bed had dents on one side, the mattress topper filling had knotted up and therefore a huge hard lump had appeared and although i tried to move around couldnt, other parts of the topper had no filling left at all. We had asked on arrival re spa restrictions as aware that they can be having stayed before. Were told none. So didnt immediately go to spa. Went at 5.10 to be told that had to leave by 6 as had an aqua class. The staff at bar in the evening very slow and inattentive. The same at breakfast. Although we were only guests eating at time. The portions also seem to have become slighltly smaller, ( enough for me - but i can imagine for many not) also no additional marple syrup offered. The porridge was served in a very plain bowl and not added topping etc. I did discuss with the duty manager the issues with bed and spa, as i booked through Booking.com she said i had to raise with them. I am still awaiting response. - which again is not satisfactory

Lovely hotel with excellent food. Wonderful views. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location.
The hotel and our bedroom was like a sauna. The place is exceptionally hot and we had to turn the heating off at night to sleep. I dread to think of the heating bill and carbon emissions!! Even with the radiator set to 1 on the second day the place was plenty warm enough.
Breakfast was good but the cooking was variable with undercooked eggs, a hardly cooked sausage and weak coffee. Managed to get a decent coffee the second morning, and ask for food to be well cooked.
A la crate menu is pretty pricey, with no bundled offers at the weekend.

The room with view was exceptional . The room had enough comfort seating . And a balcony was lovely an extra treat to the view of Sidmouth beach.
The breakfast was excellent .
Dinner was good .
Never used the pool or beauty .
The bed was a dipping towards the headboard . And the pillows were very uncomfortable. Lumpy. New ones needed.

Beautiful hotel with very comfy rooms. We got upgraded to a balcony room with the most comfy bed and complementary gin and tonic in the room! Good breakfast and delicious afternoon tea.
We could hear a low level of bass from a function in the evening

We had a superior balcony room which was lovely
The breakfast was excellent with a very good choice
The bar did not stock any Merlot at the time we stayed

This room should not be use it has inadequate safe ventilation. It is unbearably hot and there is a noisy extractor fan 24 seven outside the window..
The restaurant staff are unsupervised and untrained. You have to constantly ask for attention to be served or have to remind them of things you have ordered that do not turn up.
I rather feel these comments are immaterial as it would appear that recent reviews indicate that this problem has been going on for months which means that management has either no ability to change things or interest in doing so. As of a regular user of the harbour hotel group, I can confirm that this is not the experience that they promote.
I hope not to see a reply comment that the problem is mentioned, I’ll be in worked hard on, but rather hope to get a phone call from an interested party to get a real understanding of the problems they have to tackle.

Lovely clean rooms. Breakfast was really good
No parking was available when we arrived and we were told to use the car park over the road

Value for Money Food was particularly good and view from the Upper Deck best in Sidmouth
A handrail in the shower would be good for the older guests and room felt a little damp

Food was excellent, staff were excellent.
The hotel room was too hot despite having the air conditioner on and window open.
7.0
Breakfast was well-presented and tasty.
Staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly.
The food tasted lovely: great cooking.
Hotel was set up for us to relax, which we did!
Outdoor pool, terrace etc lovely.
Great location.
No black pudding for our first breakfast, and no yogurt for our second.
One of the dessert choices wasn't available on our first night because there were no bananas.
No trolley available for me to get my luggage to and from the car ( it had gone missing), but the staff were really good about moving it for us themselves.
Seagulls were a nuisance on the terrace.
It would be good to have a better choice of non-alcoholic wines and some low alcohol/non alcoholic gin.
Couldn't use wheelchair to get to and from our room because the lift wasn't big enough.

Great food although a little on the high side price wise. Excellent breakfast service.
No parking, not getting room we paid for, repairs needed in the room we were allocated, overpriced drinks. In my opinion, overpriced room as well.

Good cooked breakfast choice but service was a bit slow especially when the restaurant was busy. Lovely location and great sea views. Liked the numerous outside tables and beds to sit/lay on and plenty of swimming towels.
The spa was closed for the week due to maintenance so it would have been nice to know that in advance. There was no air conditioning in the bedrooms which was a shame as it was a hot week and I didnt think it was a good idea to have glass bottles for the body wash and shampoo lose in the shower, when they were filled up they were quite heavy and I can see someone having an accident. The products were lovely but needed to be attached to the wall. Our room fridge wasnt working which was also a shame as it was hot.

Food quality good. Room on courtyard lovely. Beautiful location.
Service in the restaurant when it was busy. Don’t take the bookings for meals if you don’t have enough staff. And very noisy on Saturday night especially singing Happy Birthday to five different tables!

Breakfast service. Understaffed so not replenishing foodstuff. Long wait to order hot food.
