Beautiful location.

Table booking, got a decent table on our arrival. Food was reasonably priced and relatively tasty. Breakfast was well cooked apart from underdone fried egg. Coffee and tea were available as was orange juice to start. Breakfast menu is limited but had enough choices for most people. No food displayed I.e cereal etc.
Booking was cocked up by Booking.com Room was for 2 people not one and therefore had to pay extra for breakfast. Explaining to staff at hotel resulted in staff basically refusing to acknowledge incorrect booking but said Booking.com were rubbish and well known for getting the bookings wrong. Shower lead in room 209 was about the height of a dwarf meaning you had to bend down for water to reach you. Room showed signs of needing repapering (pics available to show). Room only cleaned on last day of stay and no change of towels.

Great location with a good pub and restaurant. Staff were very friendly.
Bathroom in the room could do with an update but it was all clean.

My husband hadfull English breakfast and I had simpler fare due to dietary necessity.
Nothing to dislike

The hotel is in a good, quiet location but very handy for our meeting in Watford. The breakfast was excellent. Room was very comfortable. Overall more enjoyable than a big chain hotel for an overnight stay.
The bathroom and access areas are a little tired - could do with a spruce up.

Dinner was fine.
Room was dull and in need of redecorating.
4.1
Nicely situated by a village common, parking available, pleasant restaurant and bar, food well above average, very good friendly staff.
The accommodation block to the rear is very dated and in need of a spruce up. Clean but shabby. Price we paid seemed high for the quality of the room, have since seen it on offer at half what we paid!
4.1
easy access to city
made a special request for dinner that wasn’t given. asked for candles on daughters dessert a few days before arriving. couldn’t mention anything as would have disappointed daughter that she didn’t get it and was too late

. The staff we're lovely and tried her best, offered to help us find somewhere else and offered drinks but we had to decline. But because we booked though booking.com could not refund us...
We abandoned and I will be seeking a refund. Had to go somewhere else as did not want to stay there! Chose the room because it had and bath but it was horrid and in desperate need of a refurb and clean- grout all black ect not somewhere you want to lay and relax. The staff we're lovely and tried her best, offered to help us find somewhere else and offered drinks but we had to decline. But because we booked though booking.com could not refund us...

The location was lovely. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to eat there but the menu was impressive and the food smelt amazing!
I liked that there is a separate entrance for the rooms so that we didn't have to walk through the pub when we came in and out. There was ample parking and I felt that my car was secure.
The room was quite small and dated but it was clean and just what we needed. I had read reports of the rooms being cold - it was a little chilly on arrival but there was a portable heater which was really effective in the space.
I would stay again.

Really pleased with the food, the Pub, Restaurant and staff.... The building was lovely. And so was the location .
Could do with better softer pillows .They were really hard.
And a bit of attention on bedroom in the way of paint ect.
But overall quite happy not bad for the money you pay.

Lovely pub restaurant and a spacious room
Our travelling companions 3rd night was not booked ..an issue with Booking .com so we had to share rooms. The staff indicated this was not the first time this had happened.
One of the rooms had a rotten door frame to the bathroom

Great pub in a lovely location. Easy parking. Nice staff and food is good and well priced.

lovely bar in a country village setting, close enough to drive to the underground for our trip to Wembley. The staff were friendly, the food is typical pub chain fare. lots of choice on the menu, for both adults and children. The pub is dog friendly. The breakfast included was very good, although the continental option wasn’t on display but you could request it if you realised at the time.
As other reviews the rooms are dated, but they are clean. They have everything you need, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer TV, shower gels etc.
We stayed in room 105 and complained about the mattress, which has been acknowledged by the managers as an issue, just please replace the mattress.

The restaurant was lovely, both for our evening meal and for the breakfast. Staff were excellent.
The room was reasonable and beds fairly comfortable however bathroom was very tired looking, so didn’t use.
Can’t complain about location ( proximity to Harry Potter World) and in a pleasant village, although didn’t seem to be much in the area. Large car park to rear was also a bonus.
Rooms a bit tired.

Lovely pub and well presented. Great location with a lovely little walk over the green. Second time staying here. Staff were fantastic and very friendly.
The hotel side of the business seems to have been left behind the modernisation of the pub. It is quite dated and the room itself whilst very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed again was dated and a few issues with cleanliness and ripped wall paper.

I thought I had bagged a real bargain when I found this property. However, the amount of horrific damp and mould in the room was so bad that me and my friend were unable to spend more than an hour in there. I am very surprised that they are allowed to rent out rooms, which to be honest are not safe to stay in.
