Couple trip

Location, building, staff were fab. Lovely breakfast

Our room wasn't clean. It had bugs and larvae in the carpet. Next room offered hadn't been hoovered, 3rd was fine, Receptionist was great.

Not very good!

Location was great for where I needed to be

My bedroom was freezing cold and on the telling the staff all they did was bring a little electric heater that wasn’t very good!! Disappointed for what I paid for my stay

Had a great time.

Location was perfect. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was really comfortable. Bar/restaurant very good. Security was noticed so felt safe. It was a great meeting place and really handy for the station.

The hotel looked very tired. Although clean it was really dated. After talking with reception staff I understand that the hotel is going to be refurbished starting next year. I look forward to going back after refurbishment. It was difficult having no plug sockets near the bed or a table everything was on the floor even the kettle had to be on the floor. After mentioning this I was then told about the refurbishment.

Poor quality rooms not fit for purpose, faulty electrics and bathing facilities.

Had to switch rooms as the first one looked nothing like the rooms advertised, the furniture including bed were outdated and were covered in cracked and chipped paint and the drains in the bath room were backing up which caused a foul smell. The second room had faulty electrics and when I tried to run a bath the water faucets popped straight off as soon as the water was running. We immediately checked out without staying the night and asked for a full refund.

Stressful!

The location was fantastic.

There were bed bugs in my room. To be fair to the staff, they were great and handled the situation amazingly, but it was very stressful and meant that I had to replace everything that had been in the room and even get exterminators to my house to ensure they hadn't followed me home. I didn't know this before, but the bites take up to 2 weeks to show so when they appeared after I got home I was very worried! Luckily, all the precautions I took meant that I was safe and none had followed me!

I would recommend this the staff were really helpful with me and storing my bagged up bicycle.

Perfect for an early morning train to catch. Great location.

Disappointed.

Location. Staff were friendly.

Booked hotel for pool. Was not told before hand it was closed until arrival. We based our stay solely on this, no emails sent to say about it. Bed very uncomfortable. Place is very dated and in dire need of refurbishment. Breakfast poor quality. Would definitely not stay again or recommend. It's also really noisy at night with people slamming doors at all hours and shouting and running up and down corridor.

I think they need to organise breakfast better in the sense that you need somewhere to put your plate down to put food on it. The current situation of holing the plate and lifting lids and trying to use tongs isn’t great

Well past its best.

This is a classic station hotel with a grand entrance.

The rooms were miles away along a rabbit warren of musty and unkempt corridors with endless stairs. The rooms were fine but old and well past their best. The whole place smelled a bit.

Fantastic traditional hotel..great location !

Breakfast was a little cold but it was later in the morning..09.45. Tea pot for one was yuck…very weak tasteless tea..I’m a Yorkshire lass & like a good strong cup of tea ! Location was fab & the decor inside the hotel was sublime

Comfortable room in excellent location at a very reasonable price

Really excellent location, very close to cathedral, castle and views of the bridge...and very close to the station (<5 mins walk). Room good size, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities (and many milk capsules in the fridge - why don't other hotels do this?!), friendly staff, very good restaurant with excellent food/drinks, very reasonable price given location/facilities.

No bottles of water provided in room. Room facing street and quite noisy (not sure if there is double glazing or not).

I have been three times and always felt pleased and comfortable

I was only there for one night and the hotel was good for that. It's a fabulous old building, exactly as a station hotel should be. The restaurant provided a good evening meal with a nice bar, and nice breakfast. Very suitable for an elderly lady on her own.

My one quibble was the poor bedroom lighting.

Perfect location and size of room, very efficient and friendly staff.

I have stayed here before love the location and it’s a beautiful hotel with a lovely entrance with Chandelier and the small double room is perfect for me. Nice quiet room at the back of the building.

I had a problem with the heating as it was far too hot and even when you turned it down it stayed hot because of the pipes running through, it was boiling had to get somebody from Reception to come up and wedge the window open as that wouldn’t move for me finally then slept once I had some air in the room.

Breakfast was excellent. Location was noisy during the early hours but if you book a city centre hotel you have to expect it really. Very easy to walk to places of interest from here.

My sons room had a leak in the ceiling. A bucket and towel had been left in his room. He had to go and ask to be moved as the leak got worse. I really think an apology note should have been left in his room asking him to go to reception and they would relocate him. I really don’t think he should have had to ask to be moved. Not good PR.

c minus - could have done better

We got to breakfast late so everything was finishing up but the staff were great and the food was ok - I would have liked food a bit fresher but do understand we were at the end of the sitting. The actual hotel itself (staircase, landings etc) are fabulous

The room was smaller than expected and very "dated". The bath and sink looked old and the bed was far too soft and uncomfortable. My "view" was a brick wall a few feet away and I had to keep the window open to get some circulation....pretty disappointing all round really

Lovely Business Trip..

I like every part of my stay. The room was great, the food in the restaurant/ bar was out of this world, Great food 3 courses for just £20.. amazing value. The staff are so friendly & can't do anoth to make you stay satisfied . The spa is an added bonus to guess which is free to people staying at the hotel.. The management team is really amazing..

The only thing I don't like is having to leave. Until my next trip, but to you guys at the Royal Station Hotel just keep on doing the great jobs your doing...
