Bad staff attitude, booked to stay, drove 2 hours to get there and was told no rooms left, had to stay outside in a van with 2 colleagues. Haven’t heard anything since and not received my money back.
All of it
3.7
Every thing. Such a surprisingly wonderful place to refresh and stay after a long walking day. Staff are exceedingly helpful, friendly and cheerful. Dinner and breakfast were excellent in terms of quality and value for money.
Leaving!

The staff are very helpful and friendly.
The Hotel itself is suffering from a bad case of neglect. It was obviously a fantastic building in its day but has been left to the ravages of the Lakes climate and it shows
3.7
Location and surrounding garden.
Room was clean and comfortable
Inflexible options for breakfast. We did not want a large cooked breakfast because we were hiking. We were told we could have tea and toast but this was not made available
3.7
Nice room and garden , breakfast is good - typical English breakfast
Friendly staff
No lift :(

Lovely grounds, lovely size room, perfect location
Key to the room was abit fiddly to open and lock, old style lock and key

Breakfast was fine.
The hotel is in need of renovation. My room was dingy and had wallpaper peeling off the wall and ceiling. The shower worked OK but was old and came away in my hand when I tried to adjust the head. And there was a problem with the lock on my room door which meant I had to leave the door open when away or else be locked out! No other rooms were available.

price.
very tired building and facilities. room was functional but in need of renovation. eg toilet seat broken. windows and blinds dirty. Feels like it’s being run into the ground . Staff seemed similar - polite but no real sense of effort.
3.7
The bed was comfortable and it was clean. Plus they had a bar.
The food was very bad. The shower was barely functional and wouldn’t turn off, then it dripped all night.
3.7
The house is full of character with its own grounds!
Nothing really some picky comments on here yes it could do with a link of paint but so what!! Evening meal was fantastic plenty of choice for breakfast too ! Would stay again !!!
3.7
Great hotel. Lovely dining room, bedrooms and the staff are so nice. We will be back
Loved everything!

The staff went above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and a family feel about it,very relaxed.
It's a beautiful building in a lovely setting. The gardens were handy to get the dog out regularly. Beds were comfy, bedding was clean and fresh. Great value for money.
This hotel has so much potential to be a boutique hotel. It needs some TLC and updating. The breakfasts were good, dinners ok, i prefer my food hot, everything was warm when it was served.
3.7
Quietness of location
Could do with a bit of sprucing up in the dining room and bar area.
3.7
The room was lovely good space for a family. Manager was really nice
Lost of grounds outside to play
Unfortunately the dinner let us down the burger made my partner sick, and mushrooms didn't look great so they kindly took them away

loved how pet friendly and the grounds are amazing. clean and functional our room was pleasant and had what we needed.
the staff on reception were slow and dismissive. it took about 10 minutes to check out despite people being in the office on the back just ignoring us in the morning. on arrival staff all sitting filling out paperwork in reception. hard to check in. said they didn’t know we were bringing a dog despite me messaging in advance about it and being able to prove that. waiting staff very nice though.

Comfy bed, staff friendly. Beautiful grounds / garden.
We were in room 8. Window pane had large gap and wind blew into room and was loud and noisy. Poor lighting. We understand the building is grade II listed but no excuse for poor maintenance.
3.7
Bed was very comfortable and the room was a good generous size
On arrival we politely removed our walking boots in the porch. The front house vanished then returned and was very unhospitable, very short with us and very unwelcoming. This same member of staff, the eldest member, carried on during the order of our evening meal and again at breakfast in the same manner. Being short and unaccommodating with us.
All other younger staff were very pleasant portraying excellent communicative skills and excellent customer service.
It really did make us feel unwelcome and we are unlikely to return.
We are both only 5ft 4inch and unable to lie in the bath and there was no hot water in the morning.
I ordered lamb which was boiled not roasted and inedible, my partner enjoyed his fish and chips.

THE BEAUTIFUL GARDEN
THE HOTEL

Very friendly and helpful staff. the room was comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic.
The weather was brilliant and it was nice sitting outside in the grounds.
The property is a little run down in part but I didn’t ask if they were working through the refurbishment so cannot judge that side.
3.7
Beautiful grounds. Receptionist was fantastic. Brilliant sized room for myself and my children, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Really pleasant stay, lovely chilled atmosphere
No porridge for my daughter for breakfast but she was fine with toast. Room could use a few more plug sockets to charge things. Just minor wear and tear hat needs a little attention. Overall though a really lovely place.
3.7
polite staff, the was no problems, nice old building ,the food was good as well
the property probably needs a lick of paint
