Value for money, excellent location, right across the beach, very good buffet breakfast.
Pillows were a bit uncomfortable

Liked the location
The backing curtain on the bedroom drapes was full of mold
The shower leaked we ended up with water seeping down and into the toilet room
5.0 / 10.0
Close to the shops and beach
I found the property facility run down and next repairs
I stayed here 6 years ago and it was fantastic.
This time around things were broken and not working and the facilities were also broken and worn.
Definitely not worth the value especially after we contributed to 2 upgrades and didn’t get our beach view room

Location
Old, tired and exceptionally poor value
6.0 / 10.0
The place was quiet and in a great location right next to the new beach.
The bed was hard and the housecleaning never turned up to clean our room after 4 days. The TV on the wall fell off the wall and the heating didn’t work very well.

Location
Rooms are tired and run down prices don’t reflect the rooms. Foul smell in the hallways from all the sea water something should at least be done about that. Bed was also sunken in the middle as if kids had jumped on every spring imaginable

Good breakfast
Arrived to book in . Told the room was not ready. Staff said it will only be a few minutes. Waited patiently for 40 minutes until I went and asked again, (as I needed the room to change for a wedding I was attending) the staff member had forgotten about me .

Fabulous resort. Great location. Overlooking the beach. Close to fantastic walking tracks and beaches! Lovely apartment!
Maybe a better on-site restaurant?

Good location, near the beach. Comfortable bed.
Room was advertised as having a microwave but did not have a microwave. I arrived after 9pm with a microwavable meal for dinner which I had to eat cold. Towels were dirty (brown/black marks on them) and there was no parking near my room - had to park at reception and carry all my bags several minutes to my room and up several flights of stairs. Overall not terrible but not really worth the money.

Great location. Very comfortable bed. Excellent bathroom facilities. Bright airy room with a funny little "balcony".
Reception staff were not very helpful when we booked in, to be fair, there seemed to be a lot of people there for a conference. Our room did not have an allocated car park, we had to take "pot luck" with one of the un-numbered spots that were in a different part of the resort - we are "seniors" and when I queried getting our luggage etc to the room, I was told that the car parks were not very far away and we wouldn't have any issues. We ended up leaving most of our luggage in the car as the remaining parking space available was too far to carry our bags. It was disappointing as there seemed to be quite a few unclaimed allocated parking spots right under our unit.

Great location
The room looked amazing online but when we arrived, it looked NOTHING like what was advertised. We also didn't have an allocated car park, so had to walk a very long distance and make multiple trips to collect all of our luggage. We also had to have the blinds closed the entire time because there was no privacy and everyone could see straight into the loungeroom & bedroom from outside the complex. Certainly not worth the price point.
6.0 / 10.0
Interconnected rooms worked well for a family, with a shared kitchen and lounge area but essentially two separate bedrooms. The location is hard to beat and the breakfast buffet is very good. There are a great variety of activities to choose from.
Our check in experience was not great - front desk staff appeared poorly informed about our type of accommodation, the fact we had a family apartment booked, and were unable to point out the reserved parking bay in front of the unit. The property is dated in many areas and is showing signs of poor maintenance and upkeep, as well as the state of some of the activity equipment. Overall, it just seems very overpriced - banking on its location perhaps - compared to excellent holiday lettings in the area.

Check in very slow, not enough staff present at 2pm and every second room not yet ready.
Rooms are dated and showers mouldy.

Not much
The room was outdated and in need of some attention. In fact the whole site was a bit underwhelming.
We had to have our blinds closed at all times because all windows faced common areas including the outside dining and bar area. Even a screen would have meant some natural light.

I got very sick on 2 January 2024, an hour after I had eaten at the Mantra Lorne breakfast buffet. I sent my son to see if reception could arrange for a doctor to visit me in my room. I had very bad diarrhea and pains in my stomach. I felt terrible. They said there is a hospital nearby and gave him the phone number. I went on to have chronic diarrhoea and felt very unwell for the next 5 days. I had to stay an extra night there with my son as I was too ill to drive home to Melbourne. I was staying at The Mantra with my son who is 18 but does not have his licence. So I had to be the one to drive home but I did not feel up to it. The front desk receptionist was very unhelpful when I said I think I might have gastro. I just wanted to alert her to the fact that I thought I might have caught gastro from being at the hotel so she could ensure a high level of cleanliness for other guests. I felt so sick that I rang the local hospital who told me to drink fluids and take buscopan for my stomach pains. I was told by the receptionist at the desk that if I felt so sick I was welcome to call an ambulance. She made no effort to make sure I was ok nor offered to call an ambulance for me even though I must have appeared very ill. My son and I left on 4 January, having stayed an unexpected 3rd night at our own cost and I went straight to my doctor the next day, on Friday who tested me to see if I had gastro or food poisoning. By then I’d been very sick for 4 days. My sample was given in for testing on Friday 5 January. The results came back the following Monday and were inconclusive. The test was unable to determine what had made me so sick. I mainly had diarrhoea and I also vomited and just felt generally unwell until Saturday 6 January. On that day I finally started to feel better. I will not eat at that Mantra breakfast buffet again. Caroline McPhee

Room in the heritage building was very tired looking and was not serviced at all during our 3 night stay. A pervasive damp/mouldy smell in the hallways and having to walk up 5 flights of stairs to reach our room.

Room that we stayed in didn't had proper heating. Was bit of a struggle in this cold weather. Plus we could hear noises from outside.
