Super sandwiches on arrival. Excellent wonderfully cooked dinner. Amazing breakfast. Staff were very helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable, quiet, warm and clean. A jewel of a hotel in an unlikely area
There was nothing I could fault at all. I am reluctant to praise it too greatly because I want rooms available when I revisit.

The hotel is on lovely grounds. The hotel itself has some lovely parts (downstairs toilets). The older lady on reception was warm and helpful. The rooms were spacious, and the ground floor ones had a terrace.
The reception definitely needs some updating, as do the rooms. We had 5 rooms, each of them needed a face-lift and had an old smell. I'd suggest some reed defusers, reinforcing all the floorboards, replacing the carpets (as I'm sure that where the smell came from) with some polished wood paneling, or better than that marble (a light colour will lighten the feel of the reception area). Perhaps updating the art and some decorative features.it just needs some TLC to bring up the experience, just as has been done in the downstairs ladies' toilets.

Elegant old Georgian manor house surrounded by beautiful meadows and a garden. Excellent restaurant. Friendly staff.
Our bathroom had a broken tile that needs to be replaced.

Traditional offers for breakfast. Could be a bit more imaginative.
No lift so an offer to carry bags upstairs would have been nice.

Breakfast and dinner excellent

beautiful building in stunning grounds
shower over bath not easy to maintain stable temperature. Breakfast was good, Seated in Conservatory so had excellent views over grounds but as it was a sunny day it was rather uncomfortable with sun in ones eyes.

This was our second visit. Comfortable bed, lovely sized room and en suite bathroom. The staff were very attentive and polite. This hotel has beautiful grounds and has a lovely calm atmosphere. On this occasion we stayed for an evening meal and were not disappointed. Excellent food and breakfast was superb too!

the food was mediocre

Evening meal was really lovely and the breakfast was substantial. Room was spacious and clean and the grounds were very pretty.
We would have preferred a room that overlooked the garden rather than the entrance and carpark as people seemed to congregate smoking around the entrance which was just below our window.

Absolutely loved the staff the food was amazing the room was beautiful.
The shower head had some lime scale so wasn’t able to get full benefits of the shower other than that it was perfect 100% would come again.

Staff were charming including Lea who served breakfast in the gorgeous conservatory. Rooms were large and well appointed and we had table and chairs and a little terrace and I listened to the dawn chorus
3.5
The setting - countryside but still close to villages.
It’s dated - it’s a beautiful building in a perfect location but it looks tired and could do with a refurb. Breakfast was ok - bit on the small side.
4.0
The food was excellent - both evening meal and breakfast! The room was perfect for us (a twin) on the ground floor which opened up into the garden for the dog!
Although it is stated it is a dog friendly hotel - it is in the fact they can stay, however, we couldn’t take the dog anywhere else in the hotel other than our room. We couldn’t leave our dog in our room on his own so only option was room service for breakfast and dinner.
4.5
A beautiful and stylish property, lovely staff and an extremely comfortable room.
Can't think of anything
4.0
it’s rural setting
would have preferred a separate shower, difficulty getting into bath
