The historical feel and the staff

Magnificent building
Average breakfast in a massive dining space - all to ourselves!!
Unrestricted Wi-Fi would have made f more relaxed use!
Bathroom was somewhat dated - but ok

Nice staff and awesome view

The location is awesome. We booked a cottage, but we regret this after we saw the hotel rooms. Advise, book a room with a sea view for the best experience of this hotel with great heritage!
Breakfast very basic, but not a deal breaker.

if you like faded glory, this is the place to go. One can still feel the grandeur of past days.
The cabins are just an awful place to stay. The mattresses are horrible and the cabin itself dark and damp. The food served at the hotel was also not very tasty to say the least (salmon, potato’s and vegetables completely over cooked).

Main building looks very nice and has a good view of the fjord and the mountains.
Breakfast was good, but they do not manage to keep the hot dishes hot.
We had a bungalow next to the main hotel. Here the Wi-Fi does NOT WORK. No info about this. The cabin had a smell of moist/basement. Not worth the Prince. Had dinner at the hotel. It was ok, but nothing special.

Charming hotel with many beautiful authentic furnishings. Great welcoming service.
There is nothing we did not like.

The staff is exceptionally helpful. The hotel has an unique rustic charm - we liked it a lot, like we went a century back in time. The food was OK as well. The lobby is cozy with a truly amazing view, we spent a few hours there watching the snowfall with a glass of wine.
The beds were not so comfortable.

The woman in charge was very professional and pleasant.
Breakfast was not great value for money.

The atmosphere in the lobby was really pleasant in the evening, the views from the outside terasse are nice and our room was very spacious.
The food was not amazing (the breakfast quite basic), the bed was also not too comfortable and some of the facilities would probably need a bit of renovation. Nevertheless, overall the hotel offers everything you need and it is a decent option.

It had great beds and sheets were great quality, loved the facilities and surroundings. Very helpful at reception.
It is looking rather rundown, but it is a grand building and it is privately owned. The staff were kind and helpful. Though staff wearing a BO$$ hoodie while at work, takes away from the grand feeling. Few minor upgrades at no cost would improve the experience.

Although a bit rustic, the hotel still has some charm with a nice garden overlooking the fjord.
Limited choice for breakfast and same goes for the dinner menu. Sauda is a small town with even more limited choice when it comes to dining.

Nice big room
Breakfast was simpel.

The person I met at check out was nice, although I had to spend 10 minutes walking around the hotel to search for her. Common areas are rustic and charming.
I booked what was described as a camping hut. It was not, it was more of a hotel room in a hut. On the booking.com page it clearly states that there is wifi, but there isn't. When I asked at the reception about that, they knew about the problem. There is also no possibilities to cook anything yourself in the hut. There is a small fridge however, but it was so noisy I had to carry into the bathroom to be able to sleep. The main road was also 2 metres from the windows, so if you want some fresh air at night, be prepared to wake up with the first lorries that passes. There was a small patio, but the chairs were full of bird dirt, so there wasn't really anywhere to sit. The breakfast miserable as well, small selection, and poor quality store brand products on offer. Also, it is one of those 1/3 of a slice of bacon per egg deals, which further added to the already appalling impression.

Location eas great but hotel and its surroundings are bad. The breakfast was a dissapointment. Too much smell in bedroom.
