Wonderful staff and beautiful property

The breakfast was amazing, dinner even better. Very relaxing. Staff was 10/10.

Some of the rooftops had some dirt. Not as easy to see outside from rooms

黒川温泉のへそ(どちらにも行きやすく、旅を堪能できる所

立地が良く、温泉巡りのチョイスに幅があり、特徴のあるお風呂を選び、堪能できた。宿泊した部屋が粋でモダンで、食事も貸切部屋で接待され、落ち着きと心浮き立つ感と両方を味わうことができた。

「チェックインを早めにして現地をお楽しみください。」の案内があってもよかった。何故なら、温泉付近の出店の閉店が17:00と早いので、温泉エリアを十分味わうのに時間が足りない感が生まれた。ちなみに、16:00にチェックインした。(旅館は15:00からチェックインできた)

A marvelous place

I was guest of this Ryokan in early December and it was like living in a dream. The town is enchanting, the Ryokan is absolutely splendid and well kept, the breakfast and the dinner were an amazing experience and the personnel was kind and professional (especialy Quynh who was superkind and made my experience even more memorable). My room was wonderful, the onsen very beatiful

Questo posto è incantevole. Lo spazio termale per gli uomini un incanto e la stanza bellissima. Il personale meraviglioso.

Se fosse un po’ meno cara avremmo fatto due notti. Ma la qualità vale tutti i soldi che costa. È solo questione del nostro status economico.

This ryokan is beautiful and the staff is amazing. It was one of the prettiest osens in town that we saw, so you don't even have to leave. The private osens were very nice. The food is great but it can be a lot of food. Would not spend more than two nights here.

pillows were like rocks. There was a green light over our bed that you couldn’t turn off.

staff was amazing

we cannot judge vs other ryokans because we didn’t experience lots of them but this one was really good for us. the staff is incredible, so much kindness. you can go around, enjoy the baths, food is good too. the staff transported us from the bus station to the ryokan, same when we left. they let us umbrellas to visit the village under the rain at night. they answered to all our requests and explained us all the basics to know upon arrival.

Beautiful and peaceful with friendly staff. We had such a lovely meal and pleasant time at the onsen.

The street to the ryokan is quite narrow.

The location is good if you reach the kurokawa onsen by bus. It's very close to the bus station. The hotel staff is very kind and considerate. The dinner and breakfast are extraordinary. Highly recommended!!

Room was spacious and comfortable. Dinner was beautifully presented, with a hit of fusion elements, and every dishes tasted great! Outdoor onsens were beautiful. The staffs were also very kind and friendly.

Room decoration was a bit bland. That's the only one tiniest of a problem I can think of.

Great, attentive staffs. Clean, hot Onsen available to use throughout my stay.

The room's wall was quite dusty. Toilet smells abit bad.

Fabulous way to experience a ryokan, fine food and service next to a river and quaint village.

Location is wonderful. staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. Food was amazing. Ryokan was well kept and generous in size.

If eating while sitting on the floor is no problem you will enjoy the experience. Our room came with western beds but the mattresses were hard.

The entire staff was wonderful as they provided excellent, friendly service throughout my stay and took care of every detail, especially クインちゃん! The dinner and breakfast were both delicious and very satisfying, and I very much enjoyed the onsen.

The onsen felt very private and relaxing being up high and overlooking the river. Only a few minute walk from the center of town, but that is also what made the onsen so relaxing. You can hear the river bubbling in the open-air bath. It is not huge, but during the weekdays the onsen is not crowded at all. Dinner and breakfast were also spectacular, I didn't know I would get that much food! Everything was served beautifully, definitely worth the price.

I am not used to sleeping on a futon, so that is a bit hard to deal with, but if there are extra futons in your room stack another one! Or if you don't like being on the floor, get a room with a bed!

The staff are incredible. We do not speak Japanese, and they had someone to help us who was perfectly English fluent and was willing to help us with any questions we had. Everyone rushed to help us with bags or our shoes. The food was delicious and the futons were very soft. We enjoyed the onsen where you can hear the sound of the rushing river below. The location is very central to the shops and other onsen hotels. Our room was large, spacious, and very clean. The hotel is relaxing and I never heard other guests. Would stay again.

The staff on the door say “welcome home” when you enter Ryokan Wakaba, I wish my home in Tokyo was as nice as this place! The loveliest and most helpful staff. Unbelievably picturesque location. Amazing baths. Fantastic food. Thank you!

Exceptional

This was the perfect place to experience a typical japanes Ryokan! The staff was doing everything and surpassed themselves. There are plenty of Ryokans in the little town to chose from. We were very happy with out choice, cause it's compared to some of the other options a rather small one. There are pretty big ones too, with busses and tourgroups staying there. Not this one. We had a very lovely room. We went for the mix out of a tatami area and regular beds. If you wanna sleep on the typical futons, they have those rooms too. Big onsen area! I would like to single out the dinner though! The dinner was just awesome! Regarding quality of the food, variety and presentation. You could literally stay there just for the dinner alone.

In general Ryokans in Japan are seriously expensive. This one is no exception.

Pick you at the bus stop, have private onsen, great and attentive staff, big room at the annex, near the center of town, kaiseki dinner serve either roast beef or horse sashimi, brings you back to the bus stop

Outside shower room, nice to have english menu on both dinner and breakfast

Lovely ryokan in beautiful onsen town

This hotel locates just off the centre of the town, walkable from bus stop, close to the road but quiet and have relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staffs with amazing hospitality. The room is very spacious, cozy and have everything you would expect from traditional japanese ryokan. In-house onsen is good, with private bathroom available (get key from the front). The staff also dropped me off at the bus stop after checked out. If you love onsen, Kurokawa Onsen is the best place to go and Ryokan Wakaba is one of the best choice to choose. Wish I stayed longer --- only 1 night is really not enough.
