The property was immaculate and the bed was the most comfortable one I slept in during my whole stay - by far. I was asleep within minutes every time I got into it. Our room had a patio door and separate entrance from the main gate that requires a card key. I liked that we could come and go without going through the rest
Of the property. This was very convenient especially at night. The breakfast was tasty, a little cold at times due to it not being made on site. Someone delivered our orders every day. The table was set nicely for us and the breakfast was plentiful no doubt. The view while eating is wonderful. We opted for Jamaican and I had ackee and salt fish mostly. The rooms were spotless and cleaned regularly with enough towels and a small kettle, tea cups and tray on request. After 8pm you can't use the microwave to warm up any food you have but breakfast is from 8.30 in the morning. We managed without kitchen facilities in our room just fine. In the morning, you just let them know when you're at the table and they bring your food. They serve tea, fruits, porridge and then the main breakfast with hard food and fried dumplings. They have containers to take away which was useful as I was so full everyday. The view overlooks the sea which is lovely and if you sit up there at night you can hear the music from the hip strip. This did not affect our sleep at all. There were stray cats in the garden looking for food when we arrived. They were incredibly cute and we only saw them once during our 4 night stay, so they were not a nuisance at all. I felt safe in the property. It's gated and I did see a ring doorbell outside it. The shower was amazing with hot water and we had enough towels. We both loved our housekeeper. Her name has slipped me but she was the one who cleaned our rooms and bought extra towels to us. She provided us with whatever we needed and had such a warm manner.
I was disappointed the WiFi wasn't working the whole time we were there and I feel that was ignored. We didn't have access to the shallow pool and there was no explanation given for that either. The couple that own the property are lovely and friendly, but I felt like I was on my p's and q's the whole time, maybe because they live on the property so we felt we had to be quiet at night and they made us aware their granddaughter was taking over the business. I never met Laura but communicating with her wasn't very friendly at all and she would have been the one to answer our queries when on site. Although my stay was mostly comfortable, I didn't find everyone to be as friendly as they could have been. We didn't know the breakfast time nor how to work the tv channels. We were there for 2 nights without any other guests and on the 3rd and 4th day we felt ignored as soon as the American guests arrived. The staff were chatty with them at breakfast and we were ignored. The last morning it felt like they couldn't wait for us to leave. One day at breakfast I was asked why I didn't finish my food and I felt like a child. I can't eat a lot but I felt like I had to justify my actions. Maybe we weren't the type of guests they prefer or maybe it's that we were just British. Either way we didn't always feel at ease. The owners didn't seem to be able to do much for us after they received us on the first day. Jeremy the husband is British born and I found him to be friendlier but the lady who served our breakfast, there was something about her tone that I found quite off putting. I felt like every response was quite defensive which was so odd. I witnessed this same lady laughing with the other two tables of American guests. We didn't feel welcome at that point and although Jeremy and his wife gave us a run down of the place when we arrived, we felt uncomfortable when we did want query things.

Great location in the middle of town, close to beach and shopping. The view from the veranda and the patio outside our room was absolutely stunning and peaceful.
The staff was wonderful and accommodating for our needs.
I felt very safe there due to the many indoor and outdoor locks
I would have liked a dinner or lunch option on the property. Breakfast started late (830am) requiring adjustment in start time for the project for which I came to Montego Bay
Although close to everything, it was not walkable by me (with bad knees), but was perfect for younger people.

The breakfast was amazing, the view was fantastic. The bed and breakfast is very beautiful and very well located! Close to doctors cave beach and walking distance to some fantastic restaurants.

Amazing experience as usual! Clean, peaceful, and scenic!
I wish they had a microwave in the rooms.

I cannot say enough about the exemplary service and fine people I met at Polkerris!! It was a true slice of heaven served with class! All of our needs were met with island charm.
So close to everything, yet away from the hustle and bustle. The property is pristine.

The accommodation was superb, staff was friendly, the large breakfast and was sooo tasty and fresh. First class bed and breakfast place.
Water pressure. They have no control over that.

The hotel is beautiful with stunning views. It’s small so it feels like a private home, and more intimate. The breakfast was delicious! Loved the fish and local fruits and dishes. Crystal was so attentive to our needs and the Lady of the home was always welcoming and eager to assist us navigate our times and activities.
We were a group of three women so at night we felt somewhere unsafe walking back and forth from property. Although it’s in the heart of the strip, it’s tucked away in a long dark alley. At night, part of the alley is pitch black which is a little scary when you can’t see. Wish there were more road lights. One night, one of the men who lives nearby called out to us with unwanted comments which made us girls feel uneasy and a little frightened. As a result, we didn’t venture out too much at night as we worried about walking back to hotel by ourselves in the pitch black.

Secluded, yet walking distance to the stripe and restaurants. Staff was very professional and friendly, made me feel comfortable, and the authentic Jamaican breakfasts were off the change.
Although things were in walking distance, walking when it’s dark and the streets aren’t well lit, limited my going out sometimes after dark, unless coordinating transportation.

Clarisa and Jeremy are wonderful hosts; Shirlette and the ladies are the best hostesses and our breakfasts each day were amazing. You can choose between a variety of American or Jamaican dishes, always a lovely fresh fruit platter to start. This is a fabulous quiet location and due to the property size, you are not sharing the pool(s) with hundreds, in fact we had the pool to ourselves each day. The view from the balcony is stunning and even when it rained it was so relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch it come down, perfectly sheltered but still with a view. The walk to the main road is about 5 minutes so easy access to restaurants.
Not the host's fault, but the road down to the main road could be better lit for night time. Just for security reasons, but this is Jamaica all over sadly, a little run down. Water and ice is provided in the rooms which is wonderful, but a kettle would just make it perfect so you can make your own tea or coffee.

The Panzio is inside-outside decorated with a very good taste. The owner and his wife taking care for the hosted people with extreme attention and friendly behaviour. The breakfast gives a good overview about the Jamaican kitchen, but regular breakfast is offered besides, if someone would not want dive into the local tastes.

The breakfast was all you could hope for: tons of fresh fruit and either American or Jamaican breakfast. The view from the property is pure Jamaican magic. The staff was very attentive without being overbearing. It must be the best place for the money, Arthur Frommer was correct. xo
Jamaica is Jamaica: the best and the worst in terms of visuals. Not the fault of the Inn.

Great view of the sea. Nice pool, great room and food. Staff very friendly
A bit overpriced as a hotel not on beach. You need to walk a few hundred meters and pay 15 usd to go on Doctor's cave beach. Other beaches nearby didn't look decent - no facilities. The road nearby didn't feel very safe as many guys tried to talk to me. One night WiFi completely went off

Wonderful breakfasts. Attentive staff. Great accommodation and common areas. Beautiful sunset view from the balcony.

Peter and Elaine were welcoming and so accommodating during our visit. Peter helped us secure transportation for attractions we wanted to see and told us of others we had overlooked. They definitely made the experience more enjoyable than handling everything on our own.

We enjoyed all the breakfast food! It was nice to get traditional Jamaican breakfast. The property was in a very good location with easy access to two beaches. The landscaping and flowers on the property were gorgeous. The property also had a game room that provided entertainment during the rainy afternoons. The staff was very warm and friendly. We really enjoyed their calm presence and they handled every request and question with the same patience and chill.

loved the cleanliness and attention to detail in cleaning and housekeeping. beautiful garden area with sea views and incredible sunsets. great location too - beaches nearby walking distance just few minutes, all the restaurants and shops too.
that I couldn’t open my windows to have natural air. there is only air con in the room.

The breakfast and staff was superfantastic. The staff was very helpful.
It would be great if the rooms had a microwave and coffee pot.

Review of Polkerris
Very much enjoyed staying at Polkerris: 1) the view was amazing, 2) exceptionally tasty authentic Jamaican breakfast 3) the helpfulness of Peter and Elaine, 4) several layers of security, 5) appreciated the location for the exceptional ability to immerse myself in the Jamaican culture, 6) exceptionally clean and fresh smelling accommodations, 7) the hosts have several government approved licensed taxi services that they work with, for door to door service, so you can easily limit your interaction with the local culture if that is not your thing.
Excursions/Adventures
Every morning during breakfast Peter takes the time to chat with you and help you arrange whatever you are interested in. There are two options available a private driver/tour guide/car for the day. I paid $200 as an individual. You can also book tours, this will include other tourist with the tour bus picking up at several hotels; averaging about $189 per person.
Michael – the main driver/guide used by Polkerris, has room for 7 plus passengers in his mini-bus. Picked me up at 11 am and returned back by 10 pm (note I was the only one). Michael is familiar with the entire island and will fit in several fun activities for your group (or just you or you and your significant other) for a day trip. Michael knows guides and people at all the attractions so can arrange for the best experience once you arrive. Note: attractions seem to average $ 20 USD admission and please do use and tip the guides at the attractions generously as this is their only source of income (and they are government certified and licensed).
I liked it all, so continuing my review from above down here.
I arrived late at Luminous Lagoon, after the tours were over and Michael was able to arrange a tour for me anyway saying “I know the staff and they respect me”. Good to have a tour guide that is plugged into a network of locals.
Good heart
Having a good heart, a good attitude, being slow deliberate and confident and not scared goes a long way. I had a beautiful time interacting and focusing all my attention on the local Jamaican people. I immersed myself in the culture, ate the Jamaican food, got to know lots of local Jamaicans, went to the Jamaican stores, shops, restaurants, clubs and stayed away from the tourist areas. This is not for everyone. If you want to insulate yourself it is easy to do at Polkerris as well. Just ask Peter to set you up with a driver and you can door to door for everything – right from Polkerris to any tourist spot or attraction that you want.
For me, life is all about experiences and people. Enjoy your travels, you are in good hands with Peter and Elaine and Polkerris.

The breakfast at Polkerris was arguably the favorite part of my entire trip. The room was spacious and clean, and the entire staff including the owners were very pleasant to interact with. I received special guest service at The Pelican, a family restaurant that’s been in operation by the same owners for the past 50+ years. The whole place is so therapeutically relaxing.
It was a bit difficult to get ahold of the staff at times, including when I was locked out. Detailed written instructions would be nice. The location is hidden away and thus a bit confusing to find at first (you can’t rely on Google Maps), especially at night. But these are minor issues compared to all the positives!

We had an amazing stay and didnt want to leave! The beautiful view, the friendly staff, the delicious breakfasts, all the flowers, the pool, the cat, the shower, the list goes on and on. And on nights we wanted to stay in bed they had netflix which is always a bonus.
walking up from the main street wasnt too bad but it was kinda dark at night so might be smart to bring a flashlight, although we had no trouble at the end of the day. i honestly cant think of a bad thing to say about our stay!

We loved the view from upstairs, the friendly hospitality, amazing breakfast, and the location was central to everything.
We loved everything, but the stay was a bit pricey for us.
